Centuries before the events of Terraria, Cthulhu, a being with an unknown origin and immeasurable power, had arrived to the world of Terraria, attempting to lay waste to and have control of it. However, despite wiping out almost anything who stood in his way, he was still eventually defeated by the combined power of the ancient Dryad species(in who he had waged a bloody war with), who had managed to tear out parts of his body, (such as parts of his skeleton, brain, and eyes). Despite the serious damage he had taken, he had still managed to survive, being forced to retreat to the dark side of the moon, in where he would rest, regaining his strength and power in order to rage destruction and misery across the universe of Terraria once more...
