Monkey D. Luffy VS Toon Link is a What-If? Death Battle featuring Monkey D. Luffy from the One Piece series and Toon Link from the Legend of Zelda series.
Description[]
Shonen Jump VS Nintendo! Lighthearted pirate warriors venturing on epic quests clash as Luffy faces against the Hero of the Great Sea! Will Luffy's elastic abilities let him prevail against Link's versatility?
Interlude[]
Jet: One of my favorite things in the world, the great sea. Being able to travel wherever, unchained from responsibilities, and more!
Launch: Who knows this better then pirates?
Jet: Well these pirates are a lot more lighthearted then your typical pirates.
Launch: Such as Toon Link, whose literally a hero that just happens to be a pirate warrior.
Jet: Along with Monkey D. Luffy, the man who will become King of the Pirates, the freest man in the sea!
Launch: He's Jet and I'm Launch.
Jet: And it's time to see, who will win!
Luffy[]
Jet: Born in Foosha Village in East Blue, Luffy had a quiet life.
Launch: Well, if a quiet life is your grandfather leaving you alone in the woods and tying you to a balloon in order to make you “stronger”.
Jet: ...until eventually meeting the legendary pirate Red Hair Shanks.
Launch: Afterwards Luffy constantly followed them around asking to join his crew, constantly trying to prove himself to them he even did crazy stuff like stabbing under his eye to have a scar. Just wow.
Jet: Eventually Luffy ate a mythical fruit known as the devil fruit! This turned his entire body into rubber.
Launch: To skip past some of this stuff cause this series is literally over 900+ chapters long, Luffy gets taken by some bandits, and in the process of Shanks trying to save him he loses his very arm, afterwards Luffy makes a vow to Shanks that he’ll make a pirate crew that’ll be even stronger than Shanks and that he’ll become the King of the Pirates. Shanks gives him his hat and tells him to bring it back to him when he’s ready, this is where Luffy’s famous straw hat comes from.
Jet: There’s also Luffy meeting 2 brothers not related by blood, Sabo and Ace, after doing a bunch of misadventures with them Sabo ends up “dying” until it’s revealed chapters later he’s actually alive and his brother Ace who was alive… actually dies.
Launch: Wow that’s duality for you. Anyways Luffy after thinking he lost his brother Sabo trains tirelessly from that day on to perfect a move he calls the gum gum pistol.
Jet: Basically Luffy rears back his arm extremely far due to his rubber physiology and then pulls it back at fast speeds hitting enemies like a pistol.
Launch: Most of Luffy’s attacks are actually named after weapons or mystical gods.
Jet: He has the gum gum bazooka where he puts both of his hands together and hits the opponent sending them flying extremely far.
Launch: He has the gum gum bullet where he stretches one arm, far behind him while running, then snaps it back to deliver a short-distance, one-fisted powerful blow to an opponent.
Jet: The gum gum bow gun has him take hold of his opponent from behind and repeatedly twists his torso vertically around his hips before grasping them with his feet and then rapidly untwisting, creating a snapback that sends his opponent flying upwards.
Launch: The gum gum rifle where Luffy his arm around as he stretches it behind him and hits the opponent at close range, massively increasing the velocity of the punch as twisting the arm stretches the arm even further without having to draw it back any longer which also saves the amount of time the kick-back takes.
Jet: The gum gum gattling uses his stretching ability to bring his fists forward repeatedly in a blurry, rapid barrage of strong punches that creates the illusion of him having multiple arms.
Launch: He also has various gear systems, first is second gear where he speeds up the blood flow in all or selected body parts, in order to provide them with more oxygen and nutrients making him much faster and more powerful.
Jet: Luffy self-taught himself this state so he would be able to use the abilities of CP9’s “Soru” which allows him to move so fast it looks like he’s teleporting.
Launch: This also applies to his attacks as well, all of his attacks move so fast they’re invisible to people allowing him to get in attacks without the opponent knowing how to block.
Jet: Second gear also allowed him to use a move reminiscent of his dead brother Ace known as Gomu Gomu Red Hawk, where Luffy punches the opponent and burns their insides.
Launch: That’s not his only gear however, there is also gear third, where Luffy pumps air through his bones to make them gigantic, this gives him the arm of a giant and the striking strength of one.
Jet: With these 3 gears and his techniques, you’d think Luffy would be all set but he was missing one primarily thing for a while.
Launch: Which is Haki. A mysterious power that allows the user to utilize their own spiritual energy for various purposes.
Jet: With this Luffy can do things like Busoshoku Haki which allows the user to use their own spiritual energy as armor to defend against attacks and affect logia type devil fruit users, basically elementally intangible beings that can’t be interacted with otherwise.
Launch: He also has Kenbunshoku Haki which allows him to read his opponents movements, have a sixth sense about the world around him and even see into the future.
Jet: Finally, Luffy has a special kind of Haki known as Haoshoku Haki, this is a rare type of haki only few can get, it allows Luffy to assert his willpower onto others making them faint.
Launch: Luffy has shown to combine his Busoshoku Haki with his Third Gear to do moves such as Elephant Gun and Thor Elephant Gun which produces electricity.
Jet: He has also combined his Busoshoku Haki to reach Gear 4.
Launch: Well, one of the several variations of Gear 4 to be more specific.
Jet: There’s Boundman where Luffy's proportions become warped and his body becomes much larger in size, with his arms, upper torso, and legs coated in Busoshoku Haki. While Luffy is using Boundman, his physical strength and speed are increased whereas before, Gear Second's lack of strength and Gear Third's lack of speed made them ineffective individually.
Launch: Tankman where… he literally becomes fat.
Jet: This form focuses heavily on increasing his defenses and the harmonization between his Haki and Gomu-Gomu powers.
Launch: And allows him to eat… a lot.
Jet: Finally there’s Snakeman, a form that focuses heavily on the use of homing attacks and a dramatic increase in speed.
Launch: Jeez, Luffy is pretty versatile with his rubber abilities and haki.
Jet: Well, he’d have to be if he wants to become the next pirate king and survive the bitter seas for the One Piece world.
Launch: While he’s versatile he’s also extremely strong.
Jet: His rubber makes him immune to blunt force attacks though he himself has tanked and caused extreme damage.
Launch: Like how Luffy defeating Doflamingo completely destroying the landscape around him and destroying the birdcage in the process. This cage mind you was able to completely stop Admiral Fujitoro’s meteors.
Jet: Using the size of Fujitoro and scaling it across various areas of Dressrosa, we can conclude that it’s around 18.17 Kilometers in diameter. The largest meteor of Fujitoro’s is the one with a mass of 395502328314 kg, using square-cube law to as this is from Dressrosa’s 13 kilometer size, gives it 395502328314*(18172.12 /13491.77)^3 = 966404727256. Multiplying the rest together with the speed of a meteor and the kinetic energy, the cage was capable of no-selling 11.38523327 Gigatons of TNT.
Launch: Mind you that our strongest recorded weapon, the Tsar Bomb, is 50 megatons of TNT, making Doflamingo’s birdcage 228x times stronger than the Tsar Bomb.
Jet: Luffy is also extremely fast, capable of casually avoiding PX-5’s lasers.
Launch: Wait but isn’t that due to his precognition?
Jet: Somewhat… see his observation haki allows him to predict incoming enemy attacks, but Luffy does note that the beam was just moving too slow to him in general. Which seems to be in reference to how he was having a hard time dodging them in the past.
Launch: Ah, that makes sense.
Jet: While Luffy does have many impressive abilities and such he does have some huge weaknesses.
Launch: Due to being a devil fruit user he cannot swim, at all, and water weakens him to the point where he can barely move. He’s also pretty dumb.
Jet: Well dumb in the sense of being a little too trustworthy in terms of combat he’s a genius.
Launch: Well no matter the odds, Luffy will keep striving until he becomes... King of the Pirates!
“ | I don't want to conquer anything. I just think the guy with the most freedom in this whole ocean... is the Pirate King! | „ |
