Misty vs Serena is a What If? Death Battle made by BeautifulDuwanged unaffiliated with his actual series of two Pokémon girls duking it out to see who really belongs to Ash.
Introduction[]
Que: https://youtu.be/ZBG9rHoItKs
Wiz: Girls can be fighters, and these two show how much a girl can fight and improve others.
Boomstick: That’s not even the connection of this fight. These two just like to do Pokémon things, like Misty’s swimming or Serena’s “dancing”
Wiz: Either way, these two have a common trait of liking the main protagonist, but we’ll see who deserves him.
Boomstick: Serena, one of the main Pokémon trainers of Pokémon X and Y, as well as a friend of Ash Ketchum.
Wiz: And Misty, the water-type Gym Leader of Kanto.
Boomstick: He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick,
Wiz: And we’re going to research their weapons, armor, and skills, to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Misty[]
Que: https://youtu.be/EXRamMLaWVw
Wiz: Misty is the water-type gym leader of the Kanto Region, one of the many in Pokémon, and the second Gym Leader after Brock.
Boomstick: Despite her being in too many fanonical articles and fictions, she’s just a water type Gym Leader, right?
Wiz: Well, technically, yes. But, her Pokémon are very different than what you’re thinking. For this fight, we’ll allow her to use her best team, specifically from Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

Skills, Stats, etc.[]
Wiz: Despite having a wide arsenal, she also carries around potions, Pokeballs, and much more items to the point that her team can even use them. She also runs a more special atk and stat amplification team, using Rest and Sleep Talk to more or less amplify.
Boomstick: She even runs a baton pass to give stats to other Pokémon and runs a lot of ice and water moves. Despite this, she’ll still run a few electric or psychic moves or use Rain Dance to boost her water attacks and decrease fire types!
Wiz: She’s also, as said, more or less a user of special attacks with a few physical here and there, but primarily relies on using ice attacks to freeze or water attacks to overall damage.
Boomstick: Hell yeah! She’ll even paralyze you with Thunder Wave or turn you into dust with Thunderbolt, she’ll even use Perish Song to kill you, despite it also affecting her Pokémon.
Wiz: Overall, this Pokémon gym leader is NOT someone you want to fight with fodder.
Boomstick: But Wiz, what about Misty outside of being a gym leader?
Wiz: Oh, right. Misty is also an expert at swimming, especially with Pokemon. Actually, her entire gym is based off this.
Boomstick: She can also fight trainers similar to herself, obviously being able to beat some, and should have lots of skill considering she’s a gym leader!
Wiz: Ironically, she also has an advantage to water and electric type moves and attacks with Pokémon like Quagsire, who are not only ground type, but also have an ability that absorb water attacks as HP.
Boomstick: Basically, she’s an expert at Pokémon and will always have an upper hand against teams her types have an advantage against.
Serena[]
Que: https://youtu.be/lcntZ1P0Cdw
Wiz: In the Kalos region lived a girl named Serena, a Pokémon trainer aspiring to become... Well, the best.
Boomstick: In fact, she got a Pokémon from the Pokémon Professor... What was his name? Sycamore?
Wiz: Yes.
Pokemon[]
- Meowstic, w/ Nothing. Pure Psychic.
- Runs Disarming Voice, Shadow Ball, Psychic, and Fake Out.
- Clefable, w/ Nothing. Pure Fairy.
- Runs Focus Blast, Moonblast, Meteor Smash, and Sing.
- Flareon, w/ Nothing. Pure Fire.
- Runs Bite, Fire Blast, and Quick Attack.
- Absol, w/ Absolite. Pure Dark.
- Runs Night Slash, Slash, Swords Dance, and Quick Attack.
- Altaria w/ Nothing. Dragon/Flying.
- Runs Confide, Dragon Pulse, and Dazzling Gleam.
- Greninja w/ Nothing. Water/Dark.
- Runs Hydro Pump, Dark Pulse, and Ice Beam.
Skills, Stats, etc[]
Wiz: Despite the fact that Serena’s Pokémon have a smaller arsenal than others, Serena definitely takes an advantage with her move choices, with some attacks being able to blitz or STAB entirely.
Boomstick: Right, and they also scale to and should be around levels of Pokémon like the Regi trio who can pull continents and others who can shatter mountains.
Wiz: Serena also has great typings for dealing with varieties of teame, countering Dragon types and can even use her Absolite to mega evolve her Absol.
Boomstick: Her Pokémon, Absol, can even detect any incoming danger and can sense it, but her Mega Evolution should have this at a more potent scale!
Wiz: Including that, her Greninja can even freeze opponents with Ice Beam, although it would have a chance to not do it, but should have the rights to do so.
Boomstick: In fact, Serena can even use her Clefable’s sing to induce sleep, and even use Moonblast to power her attack with energy from the moon!
Wiz: In fact, other than her Pokémon, she’s also got experience in Pokémon fighting, being able to fight Gym leaders and multiple other trainers.
Boomstick: Remember that time when Yveltal threatened the entire existence of life when it dies?
Wiz: Well, yeah. Serena, although we shouldn’t take this into consideration, was able to catch this one, assuming Serena is the same as the female player.
Boomstick: Yeah! But she also has other things, such as items that boost stats, potions, Pokeballs, and even, as we said, an Absolite.
Wiz: Basically, she’s a very strong trainer, and definitely a good one at that.
Boomstick: Yeah! She even fights fully trained grunts like nothing, though they do have problems with fodder trainers with good Pokémon.
Wiz: In fact, she can fight Lysander, still assuming they’re the same as the player, who was smart enough to find a way to extract power from Xerneas/Yveltal without killing either.
Boomstick: Basically, she’s a really smart trainer with a really great team, right Wiz?
Wiz: Well, yes, but actually no. You see, Boomstick, Serena does have trouble fighting trainers at her own time, despite being able to beat others. Especially when considering how she has trouble with her rival and other trainers when considering her small arsenal.
Boomstick: And that’s why Serena is such a strong trainer.
Fight[]

Serena stepped into the forest, the leaves she’d cross crunching, as she’d bump into another trainer.
“ HEY! “ The girl turned, pointing at Serena, with Serena sighing. It was Misty, who smirked. “ Because you hit me, I challenge you to a Pokémon battle! “
Serena sighed, as her Pokeball expanded, summoning Flareon in red energy. “ Go, Flareon! “
Misty threw her Pokeball out as Starmie was let out from a burst of red energy. “Go, Starmie! “
Que: https://youtu.be/gRLZQhZrj5c
“ Starmie, use Thunderbolt! “ Misty said, before Flareon blitzed as it used Quick Attack, nearly one shotting the Pokémon due to the critical hit it had done.
With Starmie moving back, it shot a Thunderbolt, knocking Flareon back. “ Follow up with a surf! “ Misty said, as water rose below Starmie, with Flareon dodging.
“ Quick Attack, again! “ Serena ordered, causing it to blitz Starmie once more, causing to fall back, fainting.
Misty muttered under her breath as the Starmie returned, sending out Quagsire, who immediately rushed with a Water Pulse, fainting the Flareon immediately.
“ Now follow up with a Rain Dance! “ Misty yelled, as Serena sent out Altaria as it began to rain.
“ Earthquake! “ Misty said, as Serena spoke. “ Use Dragon Pulse! “
As Quagsire attempted hitting Earthquake on the dragon, a burst of energy was released which knocked away the Quagsire.
“ Now! Hit him with another! “
Altaria nodded, as another burst of energy, hitting the Quagsire and fainting it, as Misty released her Floatzel which immediately used Ice Fang, one-shorting the Altaria.
“ Meowstic! Go, and use Shadow Ball! “
The red energy that sent out Meowstic immediately went black, as a large ball of darkness was fired, hitting the Floatzel, knocking it down into the ground, causing the trees to shake.
As this happened, Serena pointed forward. “ Disarming Voice! “ She said, with the Meowstic immediately sending out shockwaves from their voice, throwing the Floatzel into Misty, and fainting it immediately.
Misty got up, panting, as she released her Lanturn. “ Quick! Use... Thunder Wave! “ She said, as the Pokémon immediately shocked Meowstic, causing it to fall over. “ Now use Surf! “
As she yelled, Meowstic attempted to use another Shadow Ball before being thrown into the tree by Lanturn’s surf.
Serena groaned, sending out Clefable. “Meteor Smash! “ Knowing that Rain Dance expired soon, she would be able to use a Moon Blast and one shot.
“ Confuse Ray! “ Misty said, knowing they were equally at 3 to 3, which should let her get a cheap hit.
But, as her Lanturn attempted to use it, the Clefable’s fist collided with the Lanturn throwing it into the sky.
Misty stomped in anger, as her Lapras was sent out. “ PERISH SONG! “ As she yelled, Lapras began to sing, causing the Clefable to be returned by Serena as she sent out Greninja.
As Greninja was sent out, he’d immediately go for Ice Beam, which was countered by Lapras using Surf, hitting the Greninja.
Once it hit, Greninja leaped back, using another Ice Beam, countered again by Lapras this time using Blizzard, hitting Greninja.
“ Take this! Use Surf! “ The Lapras has, hitting Greninja into the air as Perish Song finally hit, fainting both.
As Lapras was put back, Misty sent out her last Pokémon which was Milotic, as Serena sent out Clefable again.
“ I’ve got it! Use Hydro Pump! “ She’d say, as Serena spoke. “ Moonblast! “
Before Clefable could do so, though, the Pokémon was sent into the air, as Milotic flew up and hit an Ice Beam, freezing the Clefable.
Clefable hit the floor, shattering into pieces as Misty would begin panting. As she did, Serena sent out Absol.
“ I’ll show you! Mega Evolution! “ She said, as Serena and her Pokémon glowed, with a barrier breaking around Absol as she became Mega Absol.
Que: https://youtu.be/jcmazwwPRno
“ Use Night Slash! “ She’d say, as a dark slash hit the Milotic, throwing it into the air.
“ Finish them off with- “ As she’d speak, a rock would hit Serena, as the Milotic fired an Ice Beam, freezing the wings of Absol.
“ Take this! “ As she went to use another Ice Beam, Absol used a Quick Attack, throwing the Milotic into Misty as they did with Floatzel.
“ Swords Dance, and then Slash! “ As Misty heard as she got up, stumbling down, as the Absol had cut sideways, causing blood to spurt from Misty as the Milotic fainted.
Serena heaved her bag behind her. “ Return, Absol! “ She’d say, as Misty’s body would fall due to being cut in half.
KO[]
Serena walked into the Pokemon center, covered in dirt and leaves.
Misty’s body would be found by a Pokémon trainer as they walked through the destroyed forest.
Post Analysis[]
Wiz: That was brutal! What the hell?
Boomstick: Wiz, we’ve seen more brutal, tougher, longer, and better fights.
Wiz: While you’re right, this fight was one mighty stomp. Misty’s entire team wouldn’t work against a fighter that uses almost no water or electric types. Really, Misty’s team focused more on Special moves, whereas Serena was a large mix, and had more offensive moves that would counter many of Misty’s best Pokémon.
Boomstick: Yeah, they might be a bit equal in AP, that’s just a long stretch, and Serena would still be able to counter Misty’s strategy of Baton Pass or Rest and Sleep Talk.
Wiz: In fact, Boomstick, Serena could have likely blitzed with a Quick Attack, and the only true counter Misty had was against Moonblast, but it only made it 25% weaker, which would not have stopped Serena from switching and using a stronger Pokémon that wasn’t affected by Rain Dance.
Boomstick: Misty’s only true thing she had going was her defense and her skill, but then again, Serena fought trainers and gym leaders on the same level if not stronger than Misty is.
Wiz: In other words, Serena stomped this battle in everything but those two categories.
Boomstick: It’s like Misty’s win was really misty.
Wiz: The winner is Serena.
