History[]
Mikoto is the daughter of Misaka Tabigake and Misaka Misuzu. She entered Academy City in elementary age, and distinguished herself as a child prodigy, initially starting out as a Level 1 and climbing her way up to a Level 5 esper. This made her a perfect candidate for the Sisters Project, which held the intent of cloning her for military use. Mikoto willingly gave a DNA sample to the researchers of the project after being told that it would help people who suffer from muscular dystrophy, a fatal disease.
She later enrolls in Tokiwadai Middle School at the age of 12, and soon becomes a Level 5. In her first year, she lost a 10,000 yen bill due to A Certain Vending Machine, probably explaining her propensity for kicking it. In one fateful event, she saved her future friend Shirai Kuroko from a robber by using her 'Railgun' ability. Kuroko eventually enrolled at Tokiwadai as well and gained great affection for Mikoto. Mikoto later became roommates with Kuroko in Room 208 - despite Kuroko being her junior - after Kuroko 'legally' removes Mikoto's previous roommate who was supposedly ill-natured towards Mikoto. Being a Level 5 esper as well as a student with consistently high grades, Mikoto is known as Tokiwadai's Ace.

Death Battle Info (Fanon)[]
Background[]
- Name: Misaka Mikoto
- Origin: A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun
- Age: 14
- Height: 5'2
- Classification: Level 5 Esper, Student
Powers and abilities[]
- Electromagnetism Manipulation - Mikoto can use electromagnetism to manipulate iron, steel, and similar metals with little to no effort. She can rip apart chunks of buildings, hurl countless construction beams, and shield herself with an electromagnetic shield, or pull an object in front of her to achieve the same result.
- Electricity Manipulation - Mikoto can naturally generate electricity from her body, and can also cause natural storm clouds and bolts of lightning to form.
- Radar Sense - Her ability to control electromagnetism also grants Mikoto full visibility of electromagnetic waves. By focusing on them, she can "see" everything around her, even if she is blinded or not paying it attention. She has described this as giving her "no blindspots".
- Iron Sand Manipulation - By using electromagnetism, Mikoto can control the iron sand found in a nearby area to form various weapons, from swords to whips . She can even create giant tornados or Kaiju-like constructs which she can fully control, or create body doubles.
- Flight - By using the moisture in the air, Mikoto can create an electrolysis chain to form 'wings' from which she can attain flight from. However, she has other means of maintaining aerial mobility too. With sufficient iron sand, she can create giant constructs to lift her into the skies, or she can simply mimic other electromagnetic heroes and use metal as a hover board for flight.
- Can hack into any electric-based device or network.
- Trained in self-defense, naturally athletic
- Resistance to outside sources of electricity.
- Has total control of her bioelectricity, protecting her from attacks that attempt to target it (Such as Misaki's Mental Out)
- Can amplify herself with electricity, increasing her speed and strength.
- Railgun: A special technique that uses Fleming's Kinetic momentum theory to drastically accelerate an objects' movement to emulate a 'railgun'. With her standard arcade coins, which she uses as ammunition, her attacks can travel three times the speed of sound. While she prefers to use her standard coins, she can and has used the same applications for her Railgun on much larger objects, like Kongo Mitsuko's mech, for instance.
- Limited memory-reading via sharing an electrical circuit connection to her and her targets' brains.
- Ozone Creation & Oxygen Destruction - Demonstrated by the Sisters, who have less than 2% of Mikoto's powers as an Electromaster. By simply using electricity on the air, Mikoto can turn oxygen into ozone and manipulate various gasses in this way. Similarly, by using electricity on concentrated oxygen, she can create explosions. Misaka Worst used this technique to amplify her speed and for offense.
Level 6 Shift[]
In the Daihasei Festival Arc, Mikoto underwent forced evolution at the hands of Kihara Gensei in order to achieve the power of a Level 6 esper. This form is not something she has ordinary access to and only appeared once, as it was forced upon her.
- Massive power upgrade - With just a 2% increase to her power, Mikoto was able to create a massive blast of lightning.
- Lack of individuality/Critical thought - Mikoto's mind immediately fell victim to the overwhelming power of this form, leaving her a mostly silent and expressionless husk. Her subconscious was specifically instructed by Kouzaku Mitori to attack certain objects and people, so she likely would not be able to function on her own.
- Unstable form - Mikoto is incapable of retaining a stable form with her power increase, and would instantly explode upon reaching 100% of her boosted power potential.
Feats[]
- Fought Brunhild, a Saint, to a standstill (Saints tend to be roughly comparable. Other Saints have fought Gabriel, who levelled mountains.)
- Fought and systematically dismantled seven research facilities for three days, including a fight against Meltdowner and ITEM, whom she defeated despite having not slept.
- Iron Shields withstood assaults from Gunha, and in a friendly bout with him, Gunha admitted Mikoto would likely defeat him in a 1-on-1 fight.
- In the Silent Party Anime-only arc, Mikoto outsped a pistol aimed barrel-to-skull from across a large room.
- In the Silent Party Anime-only arc, Mikoto demonstrated the ability to override drugs and various toxins that induce physical paralysis. By stimulating her muscles with her own electricity, she can essentially take forceful control of her own body with her powers.
- In the Silent Party Anime-only arc, Mikoto used her Railgun technique on Kongo Mitsuko's mech in order to interrupt a satellite missile that was aimed at Academy City.
- Can effortlessly destroy giant mechs without lifting a finger.
- Caused a city-wide blackout on accident when 'fighting' Kamijou Touma. Said blackout featured a sky completely covered by her own storm clouds. Another example.
- Dodged Mugino's Meltdowner Lasers at point-blank range from behind, and even deflected her lasers multiple times after they'd been fired.
- Can reach a maximum of 1 billion volts.
- Against the AIM-Burst, Mikoto adapted to its' immunity to electricity and instead opted to overload its' shields with electricity. Instead of trying to directly damage it, she instead began to incinerate it from the outside via the heat generated by her lightning.
- Mikoto's 2% power increase during the Level 6 Shift created a massive discharge of lightning targeted toward the Windowless Building.
- At 100% of her Level 6 Shift, Mikoto would be able to wipe Academy City off the face of the Earth, albeit she would self-destruct in the process.
Weaknesses[]
- Mikoto tends to have a short fuse when it comes to people agitating or riling her up.
- Mikoto has a huge emotional investment in the well-being of her Sisters. Should they be endangered even slightly, she will immediately become emotionally compromised and entirely focused on saving them or defeating whoever is causing them harm.
- Mikoto has low self-worth and was willing to kill herself against Accelerator in order to save the remaining Sisters from having to be killed by him.
- Mikoto is incredibly stubborn and never gives up, even when it's relatively inconsequential.
- Her internal electricity must recharge after extremely long and extended use. While she has enough stamina to last days on end without rest against deadly opponents, her limits are clear.
- Her water wings require a lot of water vapor and a large body of water to work.
- Insulation can nullify her electricity completely, although she has adapted to this before.
- While Mikoto is theoretically capable of far more than she has shown, she isn't interested in becoming insanely powerful like other Level 5s, and thus has not reached her full potential and likely never will develop techniques that she could otherwise.
