Sonic Vs. Dillon's Rolling Western! When it comes to amazing armadillos you barely know, look no further than the muscle of Armedo and Chaotix!

Intro[]

(Insert)

Wiz: Armadillos, at first glance, may not seem to be related to Anteaters or Sloths…

Boomstick: Yeah, and you also probably wouldn’t guess they’re super strong, either! Those shells aren’t just for show… my truck knows from experience.

Wiz: But you'd be hard pressed to find one stronger than Mighty the Armadillo, the oft-forgotten member of Chaotix.

Boomstick: Or Dillon, the Red Flash. He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick.

Wiz: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win… a Death Battle.

Mighty[]

Wiz: The world of anthropomorphic freedom fighters is vast, and… rather inconsistent.

Boomstick: One second there’s realistic-lookin humans and cities, and the next they look like they jumped right out of a Pixar movie, and then the NEXT theres no humans at all, but instead an entire population of original animal characters. WHAT is going on in this world?

Wiz: Er, troubled long-term planning aside, the world of Sonic the Hedgehog has no shortage of colorful characters. From Vector, the detective crocodile, to Emerl, the fighting-focused robot.

Boomstick: Don’t forget Fang! Everyone forgot Fang...

Wiz: Most of the metaphorical bottom-barrel cast has long since been forgotten, lost to the bellowing winds of time. However, there are two rather unique individuals whose appearances are unlike any other in the Sonic universe: Mighty the Armadillo…

Boomstick: And his best friend, Ray the Flying Squirrel. Wait… why do they look like cheap knockoffs of Knuckles and Tails?

Wiz: Good question! Mighty’s game of origin, SegaSonic the Hedgehog – yes, that’s the name of the game – was developed to be played in arcade with 3 players.

Boomstick: Only problem was, this was before even Sonic CD came out, so the cast was basically just Sonic, Tails and Robotnik. Hardly enough for an ensemble.

Wiz: So, designer Manabu Kusunoki got to work, designing Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel as companions to be played alongside the Blue Blur.

Boomstick: I get why Mighty was needed, but why create the flying yellow rat when Tails already existed?

Wiz: …another good question! Let’s just chalk it up to SEGA’s infinite wisdom.

Boomstick: Mighty first appeared alongside Sonic and Ray, being chased by Robotnik and escaping Eggman Island. He even joined the Chaotix! (singing) “TEAM CHAOTIX WE’RE DETECTIIIIIVES!”

Wiz: However, Mighty apparently went missing shortly after, completely absent for Chaotix’s appearance against the rogue Metal Overlord years later.

Boomstick: Then one day, Ray and Mighty kinda just appeared again, beat the shit out of Metal Sonic and joined up with Sonic and friends.

Wiz: Strangely, this is in the Classic timeline, meaning Mighty is still missing in the timeline of Modern Sonic. Regardless, Mighty is certainly a strongman on any team.

Boomstick: As the name would suggest, Mighty is pretty darn strong, and proficient in hand-to-hand combat thanks to some training with a sloth.

Wiz: Moss the Sloth taught Mighty some valuable lessons, such as how to come to terms with his limitations, and keeping his temper in check. Something some people should probably look into.

Boomstick: I DON’T NEED ANGER MANAGEMENT! YOU NEED ANGER MANAGEMENT!

Wiz: I didn’t say you did.

Boomstick: Oh. Uh, carry on then.

Wiz: Right… anyway, Mighty has super strength, super speed, and some of the basic abilities you probably would expect from the Sonic world by now.

Boomstick: Spin dash, spin-attack, drop-dash, the works. At least in Mighty’s case, it actually makes sense, since armadillos DO roll up into balls. When’s the last time you saw a CROCODILE roll up in a ball and zoom off?

Wiz: Good point, although Mighty makes particularly heavy use of these techniques to make up for his lack of… well, everything else.

Boomstick: Wait, you mean he can’t like, fly? Or shoot energy beams from his mind? Or stop time? Nothing?

Wiz: Nope. He’s about as vanilla as they come, which is frankly a boon and a bane for him. While he lacks Tails’s genius and gadgetry, Knuckles’s gliding and equipment, Shadow’s chaos control, Blaze’s pyrokinesis, Silver’s telekinesis, and, well, you get the idea, he has somehow managed to keep up with them when it counts.

(Insert)

Boomstick: He’s tough enough to trash Eggman’s robots like they’re nothing, smash up metal bars effortlessly, can chuck giant boulders with ease, and was even able to tangle with Werehog Sonic!

Wiz: That’s not all. Mighty has crossed paths with Metal Sonic multiple times, surprisingly, and came out on top every single time.

Boomstick: Mighty first fought ‘ol Metal with the Chaotix, and even beat him when he turned into a giant, freakish version of himself.

Wiz: Then, two separate times later, Mighty was able to fight Metal Sonic solo, forcing the robotic doppleganger to flee, and outright defeating his amped Chaos Emerald-powered form later.

Boomstick: He even fought Metal using the power of all 7 Chaos Emeralds, and landed some seriously good hits, too!

Wiz: He survived a massive fall in his very first appearance, launched many miles into the air by a geyser and landing on Eggman Island. Estimating a fall from around the mesosphere, given the visual of the island resembling that of a satellite picture, Mighty likely fell 43 miles, or 70 kilometers. That means he took 23,736,217.40 joules upon impact, or in other words, nearly 2 tons worth of TNT.

Boomstick: And don’t forget, he’s a Sonic character, so you can bet he’s a speedy boy. He’s capable of reaching speeds up to Mach 3, and even managed to land some solid slugs on Metal Sonic.

Wiz: Recall Metal Sonic’s speeds of at least Mach 8, typically, and well beyond into Mach 35 when reaching escape velocity. While Mighty doesn’t seem to be quite that fast himself, he is capable of fighting foes well over his speed class.

Boomstick: He’s generally just really freakin’ hard to put down. He’s been scorched in flames, flattened like a pancake, submerged under water, blasted with electricity, and he still managed to escape from the actual hellscape that was Eggman Island. Seriously, what was up with Eggman that time?

Wiz: Who knows. Regardless, Mighty is, well, mighty, despite his utter lack of unique talents or attributes. You could say it’s even more impressive he could fight the likes of Metal Sonic and Werehog Sonic while lacking any of the powers others have relied on in similar fights.

Boomstick: But that also means he doesn’t really have much to rely on outside chucking rocks, throwing punches, and spinning into a ball. Kinda hard to not get stale when your fighting style consists of three basic attacks.

Wiz: True, and that’s definitely been an issue for Mighty. Perhaps he’d have left a stronger impact, if he simply had more unique talents to his name. Still, Mighty stands proud among his Classic Contemporaries, definitely earning his name.

(Ray playfully fist-bumps Mighty, before Mighty accidentally knocks him away with a similar fist-bump)

Dillon[]

(Insert)

Wiz: The western frontier, a land inhabitable only by those with the dexterity and strength to endure the harsh, dry heat, choking dust, and tavern-crawling outlaws that roam the streets.

Boomstick: But this place is somehow even worse, because one day an entire race of rock monsters just up-and-decided to attack all the villages, and eat their Scrogs, which look a lot like pigs.

Wiz: Left totally defenseless against the sudden onslaught of invaders, there would be only one name whispered amongst the people: Dillon.

Boomstick: Dillon’s a silent badass, but luckily he’s got some company in the form of Russ, his best friend and also a squirrel who flies. Hmm… why does that sound familiar?

Wiz: Russ and Dillon were orphans, and formed a bond as children. Turns out Russ was particularly good with machines, while Dillon was suited toward getting his hands dirty.

Boomstick: Kinda like me and you, Wiz!

Wiz: I don’t think Dillon is nearly half as much of a mess as you, Boomstick.

Boomstick: (chugging a beer can) Did you say something?

Wiz: Case in point. Anyway, Dillon is no mere armadillo. He’s actually the sole surviving descendant of the Armedo, a group said to have hunted the Grocks ages ago. So, it makes sense that Dillon’s talents vastly surpass even the most infamous rangers.

Boomstick: Dillon makes a living off shredding giant rock monsters to bits, and he does that with his two biggest assets: his shell and his claws. Look at him go! Awesome.

Wiz: Dillon can use his shell to rev up like a motor, before launching forward and grinding foes to death. With his sharp claws, he can rip boulders apart in just a few slashes.

Boomstick: That’s putting it lightly! He’s mastered the art of grinding so much, he can drift, tunnel, and zoom all over the place to exploit any weaknesses.

Wiz: He can further amp his strength, speed and durability through his gear, like the Macho Bandana, Punisher gloves, Dragon boots, and so on.

Boomstick: Though as awesome as spinning things to death is, Dillon also carries some additional weaponry around just in case, like dynamite, speed crystals, freeze bombs, and defensive barriers.

Wiz: The speed crystal allows Dillon maximum speed output regardless of terrain, while freeze bombs, well, freeze their targets. Dynamite and Wonder Bomb serve as Dillon’s explosives of choice, and with his defensive barriers, Dillon can emit a shield strong enough to withstand even giant Grock strikes.

Boomstick: He even carries Snake Oil, which I guess is a tasty snack for him? It heals him, so… I mean, all that spinning’s gotta make him nauseous, right? Makes sense to carry some backups.

Wiz: Surprisingly, no. Dillon is incredibly proficient in combat, and has defeated many of the west’s greatest, like Gallo and Nomad. Though, after it was all said and done, Dillon and Russ were finally able to achieve their goal of earning the deed to their old home, retiring.

Boomstick: …at least, until the world turned into MAD MAX! What the hell happened here? I’m not complaining, but WHAT?

(Insert)

Wiz: It turned out the quiet life didn’t quite suit Dillon and Russ after they’d spent so many years fighting dangerous monsters and rangers. What a shocker.

Boomstick: When you’re as tough as Dillon, why would you ever even think of quitting? Dillon was able to withstand some crazy stuff, but how about the time he was trapped in the mouth of the Ultimogrock, and it blew up?

Wiz: That may not sound too significant on paper, but the Ultimogrock is actually huge. We can clearly see it dwarfing an entire small town, and considering it’s made of, well, rock, it likely would be far denser than the open-spaced town. So, considering all of these factors, Dillon must have taken at most, 5.8 kilotons of TNT.

Boomstick: Damn! He really is as tough as he looks. But he’s also super fast! Y’know, if the whole Mad Max thing wasn’t a dead giveaway.

Wiz: In his duel against Boone, Dillon was able to dodge the spread shot of a shotgun after it had been fired. Given the distance between the two and how far away Dillon leapt, he must have react and moved at just over Mach 2.

Boomstick: He even added some sick exhaust pipes to his shell, which somehow don’t spin when he does. I don’t really get it, but it makes him faster, so he could probably top that shotgun blast too.

Wiz: Dillon’s speed is also the main source of his strongest attacks. With sufficient charging, Dillon can even obliterate giant Grocks in a single collision. Taking the size of this Grock, and scaling the size of the explosion to the phone lines nearby, this blast likely requires more than a ton of TNT to pull off.

Boomstick: And that’s not even his final form! With his trusty buckle, he can tap into his ultimate form: Arma-Mode. Get it? Arma… armadillo. Yeah, I dunno what they were going for either.

Wiz: In Arma-Mode, Dillon becomes completely invulnerable to physical damage, and receives a substantial physical boost to his offensive capabilities. While it isn’t a one-time use, it does wear off after some time, although he can always charge it back up again.

Boomstick: Which makes him pretty dangerous! Between all his gear, experience, speed, durability and strength, Dillon’s one rollin’ ranger you don’t wanna mess with.

Wiz: Dillon may be a one-armadillo army, but don’t get mistaken. He isn’t actually one for critical thinking or strategy. That’s typically Russ’s job, after all, and without Russ’s aerial support, Dillon is little more than a short-sighted brick. Still, the Legend of the Red Flash persists for a reason. If you cross this armadillo, you may just end up being the roadkill.

(Dillon lands from an explosion, puts on his hat and turns to the camera)

Interlude[]

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we’ve run the data through all possibilities.

Boomstick: It’s time for a DEATH BATTLE!!!

Fight[]

Mighty and Ray are seen walking around a western frontier, clutching a paper in their hands. The camera turns, revealing it to be their own Missing posters. Unbeknownst to them, a heli-bike is floating overhead. Russ the squirrel pulls out a pair of binoculars, and notices the pair holding posters with their faces pasted on it. Instinctively, Russ perks up, and pedals away.

The Mobians continue walking before coming across a post, filled with Wanted posters. Suddenly, a figure approaches parallel to the lost travelers. Sporting a hat, bandana, and boots, the figure appears to be an armadillo as well. Ray glances toward the stranger, then toward his best friend, then back again toward the new armadillo. The yellow squirrel’s eyes spiral in confusion.

Russ: You there! You made a mistake wandering here while Dillon’s on the job!

(Insert)

From the sky, a pedaling bike carries Russ, pointing toward the outfitted armadillo. Dillon is silent, his claws relaxed on his belt. Mighty extends his hand out, guiding Ray behind him. The flying squirrel crouches behind Mighty, peeking out in curiosity.

Dillon adjusts his hat before hunching down in a battle-stance. The two crimson armadillos share a gaze for what appears to be ages before spontaneously bursting into spin-dashes, crashing into each other, recoiling backward, and propelling forward three times in a row.

The armadillos uncurl, landing near their starting positions. Mighty motions for Ray to leave, but the flying squirrel instead clings to his side. As Dillon begins to charge his rolling shell strike, Mighty pries Ray from his side and hurls the yellow rodent into the sky, away from the battlefield. Meanwhile, Russ continues to frantically pedal around the vicinity, intently watching the duel unfold.

Mighty’s first instinct is to weaponize the environment, which he acts on immediately. Dillon unleashes another charged rollout, kicking up clouds of dirt as he rockets forward. The Red Flash streaks by, met suddenly by the counter impact of a crude boulder. Mighty’s makeshift bludgeon slams into Dillon, blasting him through a nearby collage of WANTED posters.

Russ: Dillon! This guy looks like he means business. Be careful!

As Dillon forces himself out of the wooden rubble, Mighty notices the literal flying squirrel gesturing and speaking to the ranger. Using another mineral projectile, Mighty lobs the ore directly at Russ’s heli-bike, tearing right through the structure.

Russ: Uh oh. That’s not good. DILLON! DON’T WORRY ABOUT MEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee……!

A crash is heard shortly after the vehicle sputters out of control, spiraling toward the earth in the distance. Dillon watches helplessly as his best friend meets an uncertain fate, and sharply re-places his hat on his head. Mighty begins rushing toward Dillon, his sprint turning into a whirling, grounded orb. The ranger reacts with a double-armed claw swipe, crossing in the shape of an X, halting the might mustered by his adversary.

Knocked out of his attack, Mighty is momentarily left open to a barrage of Dillon’s claw swipes, erratically cutting left, right, diagonal, horizontally, and vertically. The Red Flash finishes by leaping into the air briefly, before crashing back down in his spheroid shell, grinding fiercely against Mighty’s defensively clutched, crossed arms.

Mighty grits his teeth, being overwhelmed by Dillon’s attack. Pushing back as hard as he can, Mighty overpowers the boulder-smashing attack, gaining a moment to breath. Suddenly, and just moments too late, Mighty notices a crystal attached to the back of his shell, glowing bright blue. The rebounded Dillon lands, adjusts his signature headwear and watches as Mighty scrambles to reach his back.

The item activates, instantly encasing the armadillo in a block of concentrated ice. Mighty glances toward Dillon sheepishly, as the ranger pulls out multiple sticks of dynamite, tosses them a brief distance above himself, and richochets the sticks of explosives off his rapidly revolving shell. The dynamite crash into the frozen Mighty, exploding on impact and lightly cratering the ground. Mighty is dazed, wounded, and freezing, but far from defeated. Dillon begins to charge a rollout attack once more, but Mighty manages to regain his footing and uses his own Spin Dash, rolling off the lip of the crater and becoming briefly airborne.

As Dillon is stuck in his charge, unsure of Mighty’s whereabouts, the Chaotix comrade spontaneously forces his weight downward, blasting on top of Dillon and knocking the silent ranger out of his protective positioning. With his shell damaged by the impact, and forced onto his stomach, Dillon is defenseless as Mighty lands his hands on the Red Flash, grappling him into a hurricane spin. After multiple exceedingly fast rotations, Mighty loosens his grip, hurling Dillon miles away.

Dillon crash lands near a cliff, surrounded by some cacti and boulders. Reaching for his hat once more, Dillon notices a red streak out in the distance. To his shock, Mighty is pursuing him as fast as he’d thrown him, and finally is clearly visible. Dillon retrieves his hat, but also pulls out a bottle of snake oil, and swallows the liquid.

Mighty appears before the western wrangler in seconds, once again carrying his speed into a rolling charge. Moments before inevitable impact, Dillon hops, before dropping his weight into the dirt, burrowing just beneath the surface. Mighty helplessly rockets past where once stood Dillon, reaching the edge of the cliff instead of his intended target.

The Mobian throws himself out of his shell, frantically grasping toward the ground as his momentum steers him to the furthest reaches of the cliff. Mighty stumbles, his speed narrowly reaching a crawl as his outstretched feet push giant clouds of dirt into the gaping maw of the canyon. The pointed-noised armadillo finally stops completely, less than inches from a fall into the distant land below. In a weighted huff of relief, Mighty relaxes momentarily, completely forgetting the situation at stake.

Dillon, meanwhile, has followed the outsider from beneath the surface. Just as quickly as Mighty had nearly flown toward the unforgiving canyon wall, Dillon reappears, striking Mighty from behind with the eruptive force of a resurfacing burrow. Mighty is knocked forward, unavoidably charted for the canyon floor. In a span of crucial instances, Mighty growls. The strike by Dillon sent Mighty hurtling forward, and spinning. In utter defiance, Mighty grabs Dillon by the boots as soon as his arms are within reach, less than seconds before they’d no longer be able to grasp the ranger.

The twin armadillos let out a shared cry as they plummet to the depths of the ravine. As they rotate around one another, the enraged mammals begin striking at each other. Dillon claws at Mighty, causing the Mobian to flinch. In turn, Mighty slams his fists into Dillon, overpowering the Red Flash and knocking him into canyon wall so quickly that he rebounds right back to Mighty. Mighty continues to pummel Dillon against the wall before both are grounded, cratering the bottom of the canyon.

Dillon and Mighty are briefly knocked out, before coming back to their senses together. Their landing spots meters apart, the armadillos share an all-too familiar staredown. The orange glow of the setting sun gushes into the gaping land, bathing the armadillos in a warm light. As the armadillos prepare to bring out their very best, a bush of tumbleweed blows by.

Mighty acts first, bursting out a wicked Spin Dash. Dillon attempts to dodge the shelled strike, but is nabbed before he can leapt out of the way, pinning him against the canyon wall. Mighty begins to launch a barrage of punches, striking hard enough to impact the air with each blow. Dillon’s face begins to bruise and bleed, and so the ranger knows there is only one thing left to do.

Dillon flexes in a surge of sudden power, an aura overtaking his body and knocking Mighty back a few paces. Dillon’s expression remains stone-faced as ever, though his subsequent claw strikes indicate a deep-brewn hatred. With the bestiality of a wild boar, Dillon mangles Mighty, mauling with a storm of sharp-nailed swipes. Mighty is lacerated all over, before being launched forward by Dillon’s finishing strike. As Mighty struggles to stand, Dillon begins to walk over slowly, his aura still encompassing his body.

The Mobian turns behind himself, lobbing his fist into the canyon wall and forcibly removing a chunk of rock. Dillon is shocked by the size of the boulder, rivalling even some of the largest Grocks around. This shock opens the ranger to a crushing swing from Mighty the Armadillo, knocking the Red Flash many meters away. Seemingly unharmed, Dillon looks up from the ground to see the same boulder now soaring toward him. Dillon raises his arm in instinctive defense before the canyon chunk collapses on top of him.

The ranger is dazed, barely cognitive, before realizing the assault is still yet incomplete. Mighty appears once again in front of Dillon, landing a devastating right hook into his face, dispersing the protective aura instantly. Dillon struggles to stand, but manages to throw his best swipe forward. Mighty blocks the clawed paw with his left hand, and ruthlessly rips it out of the Red Flash’s body. Dillon yells in agony, though his expression of pain is cut short as Mighty repurposes the appendage as a weapon, gouging and slashing at the armadillo with his own limb.

Dillon attempts to fight back with his remaining claw, but is once again blocked by Mighty. Using his knee to bash the underside of Dillon’s jaw, the Mobian lunges the clawed arm into Dillon’s chest, impaling the ranger.

The Red Flash stumbles backward, blood spurting from his breast rapidly. Mighty continues his assault, grabbing the implanted arm once more and forcibly drawing out from whence it entered. Dillon’s last seconds of life are spent watching helplessly as Mighty revs one last Spin Dash, blasting into Dillon’s gaping chest. The charge lifts Dillon into the air upon impact, and Dillon is carried skyward by Mighty before finally, the pressure of the Spin Dash breaks through the cavity, bursting the wound open completely and ripping Dillon apart from the circumference of the hole.

Mighty drop dashes back to the ground, kneeling over in exhaustion as Dillon’s shell, hat, and limbs fall around him. He picks up Dillon’s hat, takes a look at it, and decides to repurpose it as his own.

Verdict[]

(Insert)

(Ray is seen waiting by the damaged Wanted posters, greeting the heavily injured Mighty and helping him stand)

Boomstick: Wait, Mighty actually won? But Dillon had way more gear and, well… you know, he’s the main character! Mighty barely even has 3 actual appearances in his games!

Wiz: While it’s true that Dillon has a lot more material to draw from, more doesn’t necessarily mean better. Mighty’s limited history is restrictive, and definitely meant he had far less options in combat, but the numbers simply favored him in every category.

Boomstick: Remember Dillon dodging that shotgun blast? He had to have moved and reacted at Mach 2, which is really impressive! But Mighty can easily run at least Mach 3. I know that doesn’t sound like a whole big difference, but Mach 3 is actually faster by almost 800 miles per hour.

Popup: Dillon’s travel speed is typically shown to be far slower than Mighty’s. While Mighty has proven to reach speeds of at least Mach 3, Dillon tends to trail vehicles that resemble real-life eighteen-wheelers. Dillon also lacks any running speed of his own, and relies on spinning to maintain it. Compared to Mighty, who could reach Mach 3 on foot or rolling, Dillon was further outclassed.

Wiz: That’s not all, though. Mighty has consistently fought and defeated Metal Sonic, who can reach speeds of Mach 35. Even if Mighty himself can’t reach those speeds, he can fight someone who can. On the other hand, Dillon’s Mach 2 reaction and movement speeds are about the fastest we’ve seen him at. So, even if they had the exact same speeds, Mighty would still have a demonstrable edge given his ability to react and land blows on an opponent as fast as Metal.

Boomstick: Plus, Dillon was way weaker than Mighty. Dillon could blow up a building-sized boulder, which is pretty impressive, but nothing compared to the force needed to beat up Metal Sonic.

Wiz: Recall that in Metal Sonic and Sonic’s fight, the two created and were at the epicenter of a blast that fractured a giant stalactite. Even if Metal Sonic only output at least half the force required to pull that off, both he and Sonic had to have taken that blast as well.

Boomstick: Meaning Metal can easily take at least 200,000 tons of TNT to his face, and Mighty can even give the tin can a wallop when he’s amped by Chaos Emeralds!

Popup: It’s unlikely that Metal Sonic was using the full extent of the Chaos Emeralds, given that he was pretty quickly defeated by being caught off-guard by Tails's trap. However, any kind of power boost to Base Metal, who has already achieved Mach 35 speeds and 200 kiloton strength, would simply prove to widen the gap even more between Mighty and Dillon’s capabilities.

Wiz: Comparatively, Dillon’s single ton of TNT utterly fails to hold up. Even the Ultimogrock explosion, which Dillon took the full brunt of, would only come out to 5.8 kilotons of TNT, whereas Mighty fought Titan Metal Sonic, as well as Metal with all seven Chaos Emeralds. Even if we lowball and just carry over base form Metal’s stalactite feat, that’s still 200 kilotons of TNT, over 30 times more force Mighty could take than Dillon.

Popup: Dillon did defeat the Ultimogrock, but he didn't do so by overpowering it head-on. He specfically damaged the internal core, and thus Dillon's strength shouldn't scale to the Ultimogrock's self destruction.

Boomstick: Dillon’s best shot was his gear, which kept things from being too one-sided. But gadgets and traps can only get you so far against someone who is way stronger, way faster, and way more durable than you.

Popup: Mighty is no stranger to traps and hazards. In his very first appearance, Mighty escaped Eggman Island, which was filled with far more perilous items than what Dillon tends to carry at once.

Boomstick: Wait, but didn’t Arma-Mode make Dillon invincible? Shouldn’t that have been a clear winning power up?

Wiz: Not quite. First of all, Arma-Mode is on a meter, and while Dillon could tap into it more than once per fight, theoretically, it has a pretty clear time limit. Secondly, Mighty has already fought so-called invincible opponents. Remember that Mighty was able to damage Metal Sonic using not just one, but all seven Chaos Emeralds.

Boomstick: And we all know Sonic Super forms all tout invincibility as the big selling point, but Mighty still broke past that, so even if Dillon wasn’t able to be hurt by anything in his world, that doesn’t mean Mighty couldn’t.

Wiz: Put another way, so-called invulnerability can only get you so far against someone many, many times stronger than you. At best, it could stall Mighty for a bit, but it’s far more likely Mighty could just overpower Arma-Mode entirely, like he did to Metal Sonic.

Boomstick: You know, Metal Sonic may be one of the biggest villains in his world, but Mighty should be pretty thankful he got to beat him up so much, or else he wouldn’t have been nearly as impressive.

Wiz: You’re not wrong, but it is what it is. Dillon put up an admirable effort, but ultimately, Mighty held nearly every advantage, cinching the victory.

Boomstick: Looks like Dillon just couldn’t arma-deal with Mighty after all.

Wiz: The winner is Mighty the Armadillo.

Mighty win

Bonus[]

Connections:

  • Mighty and Dillon are both anthropomorphic armadillos who inhabit worlds of sentient animals.
  • Additionally, they use similar forms of attacks using their shell to roll into a high-speed ball.
  • Mighty and Dillon are both best friends with a squirrel. For Mighty, this is Ray the flying squirrel, and for Dillon, it's Russ, the squirrel who can fly, but with a machine.
  • Both are relatively obscure, despite being owned by powerhouse companies. Mighty is part of the Sonic franchise, yet has never been terribly huge, and Dillon has three games of his own, but all were eShop titles that didn't exactly blow up.
