Mickey Mouse vs Popeye the Sailor is a Death Battle fanon matchup.
Description[]
Disney vs Timble Theatres, 2 classic toons who have insane toon force, who's stronger?
Interclude[]
Wiz: Mickey Mouse, the icon of Disney and fiction.
Boomstick: Popeye the Sailor Man, the guy who exists to teach people how to be healthy.
Wiz: Two of some of the most iconic cartoon characters we love as kids, they are also extremely experienced creating the cartoons golden ages.
Boomstick: Both characters also have really extreme toon force so this matchup is gonna be closer than you'd think.
Wiz: Will Popeye put Mickey down to the spinach or will Mickey toodle doo Popeye away?
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Mickey Mouse Buys DEATH BATTLE![]
(Cue: Mickey Mouse 1960 Intro)
Wiz: We all love cartoons growing up but one of the most iconic cartoons to ever exist is Mickey Mouse which later became Walt Disney's success and it remained on the legacy of all cartoons.
Boomstick: First originated from "Steambot Willie", Mickey has gained so much success from spawning his own children's show "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse", having his own theme park called "Disney World", we can safely say to you he's probably the father of cartoons. How can you not know who this mouse is? He's basically everywhere and is more popular than Bugs Bunny and SpongeBob SquarePants.
Wiz: Mickey Mouse has been around for a long time and he even has a lot of good feats alone, he has fictional transcendence as seen from when he transcended all of Disney in the game Kingdom Hearts and that one time he transcended his own verse in a Mickey Mouse short.
Boomstick: Honestly very crazy to consider as Disney has bought Star Wars, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Marvel so that would put Mickey Mouse above all of those cosmologies, pretty interesting not gonna lie.
Wiz: Mickey may seem like a kind hearted character on the outside but don't let that fool you as he is really powerful when bloodlusted.
Boomstick: The mouse does not play around, Mickey's sorcer hat is one of his magical weapons. The Sorcer Hat alone is a very magical item for the most of Yen Sid and Mickey's powers making the hat more powerful than it seems.
Wiz: Another good weapon for Mickey Mouse is the keyblade which is a mysterious weapon full of power and energy. Mickey Mouse is actually very skilled with this weapon as he has done so many flipping and spinning attacks with this weapon.
Boomstick: Mickey Mouse in his Disney Junior show also has Toodles which is said to give him any weapons he wants, Mickey really has a lot of arsenal up his sleeves making him a worthy opponent for a lot of fictional characters out there.
Wiz: Outside of weapons, Mickey also has really good hax. Did you know in one Mickey Mouse short where Pete kidnapped Minnie and Mickey tried to get her back he got thrown off so hard that he escaped the filmmaker that Minnie and Pete was in? That's right, he was also able to see his verse as fiction and he actually found a way to get himself back into the cartoon afterwards meaning Mickey can escape fiction and enter reality and then come back to fiction if he wants to.
Boomstick: Woah-ho! That actually sounds awesome, Mickey Mouse is sure at the end of the day someone you don't want to mess with.
Mickey: Hey everyone, it's me Mickey Mouse! Say, wanna come inside my clubhouse?
Popeye Eats Spinach To DEATH BATTLE![]
(Cue: Popeye the Sailor Man Theme)
Wiz: Here comes another classic golden age cartoon, Popeye the Sailor Man a.k.a the classic cartoon made to encourage kids to eat their vegetables specifically spinach.
Boomstick: Popeye has been known as one of the best toon force users out there. Once he eats the can of spinach you know you are screwed.
Wiz: When Popeye eats his spinach, he was able to give the sun a black eye, survived the universe being turned off, the list could just go on. Popeye was also strong enough to literally punch his own animator.
Boomstick: What the heck? That actually sounds crazy for a feat, punching your own creator? That's some god level strength right there.
Wiz: Popeye overall has some really broken and insane abilities. I also can not forget that one time where he punched his opponents so hard that the filmmaker literally ripped off in the progress of him doing so.
Boomstick: This alone just goes to show that cartoon characters are something that you don't want to mess with especially when bloodlusted. Now enough with Popeye's powers, how about the lore and canon to Popeye?
Wiz: Popeye the Sailor was actually inspired by Frank "Rocky" Fiegel and that also explains why they look alike, Frank is basically the real life Popeye when you think of it.
Boomstick: Now with the backstory of Popeye, Popeye was abandoned by his dad Poopdeck Pappy due to looking ugly from birth, while he does look ugly for a lot of people he became an excellent combat fighter, he was so fast he was even able to punch himself and looks like he's everywhere. I almost forgot to mention that he even pulled the moon to earth and I thought Bugs Bunny was already incredible toon force user but this is just even more insane. Man, lemme say you really gotta love the golden age of cartoons.
Wiz: Indeed you gotta, Popeye has been one of the best toon force to ever existence though he isn't really smart since if his opponent gets their hands on his spinach and they eat it, they will gain the same strength as him.
Boomstick: Popeye still has his fair share of weakness and isn't that OP such as he is soft hearted and doesn't want to hurt innocents and has shown some hypocrisy like he doesn't like hurting animals even though he does so while he may be OP, he's not perfect. Anyways, let's let this Death Battle begin.
Popeye: I yam what I yam and that's all that I yam.
Intermission[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
Death Battle[]
(Location: Beach Park)
Mickey and Minnie were taking a walk to the beach in order to give themselves a good honeymoon, Mickey and Minnie were then taking a sit on a bench meanwhile Popeye and Olive oil landed their ship to the beach so they can give themselves a good honeymoon as well.
Popeye: Well Olive, it seems like we are gonna enjoy our time together.
Olive: Oh Popeye, you really know how to make me happy.
Meanwhile...
Minnie: Well Mickey, I actually got some gifts for you if you want some of them.
Mickey: Alright Minnie, show me what you got.
Minnie then opens her bag revealing a can of spinach, a block of cheese, and just some other treats for Mickey Mouse. Mickey likes those foods but his thoughts on the spinach is a bit different.
Mickey: Minnie, I don't want to upset your feelings but I do not like spinach.
Minnie: Oh okay, I don't mind.
Popeye: Wait what did you say?
The spinach Minnie bought was a Popeye themed can of spinach so because Mickey said he didn't like Popeye's spinach makes Popeye extremely mad that he threw a punch at Mickey to make sure he doesn't trash his spinach again.
Mickey: OW WHAT WAS THAT FOR?
Popeye: That is for bad talking my spinach you weird looking mouse.
Olive: Popeye, what was that for?
Minnie: Mickey are you okay?
Mickey: Yea Minnie... I think I am...
Mickey then gets back up and then confronts Popeye about why did he punched him but Popeye just didn't listen.
Mickey: Listen sailor, I don't know what was that for but I don't get why you punched me all because I said I didn't like your spinach. It's my thoughts and you gotta accept it okay? Who even are you?
Popeye: I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam.
Mickey and Popeye then stood up angry at each other and are ready to fight it to the death, Mickey Mouse then dashes up to Popeye and throws a punch at Popeye but his limbs were too long leaving Mickey in shock and Popeye then punched Mickey hard that the can of spinach Mickey was holding that Minnie gave him flew out and handed in Popeye's hands. Popeye then eats the spinach to get stronger and punches Mickey afterwards.
Minnie: MICKEY!!!
Mickey then got up and had enough, he then summons Toodles to give Mickey the luck advantage, Toodles then appears to grant Mickey anything he wants in which Mickey then gets granted his magical wand and some force to keep himself safer from the spinach in which he summons the animator to delete Mickey's weapons to give him the edge.
Mickey: Oh no you don't!
Mickey then uses his wand and erases the animator's hands from existence while he did that though, Popeye punched Mickey out of the animation and Mickey was able to survive that. Both characters are now in the real world and Mickey takes this as an advantage.
Mickey: Okay Sailor, now it seems like you really got me mad now.
Popeye: Alright mouse, it seems like you really were able to hold off a good challenge for me but it seems over for you now.
Mickey and Popeye then both fight each other in the animation studios completely trashing the place while Minnie Mouse and Olive Oil are complete embarrassed by what their boyfriends are doing, they kept fighting that even the animator couldn't believe what he is witnessing eventually Popeye punched Mickey so hard again that he got into the film studio again but Mickey then shuts the film source so Popeye doesn't enter the fiction world again.
Mickey: Alright, I think that's okay now and a pretty close one too.
Popeye: Hey let me back in!
Popeye then eats another can of spinach and rips apart the cartoon Mickey is in so he can enter it in and didn't give up on the mouse afterwards.
Mickey: Oh you gotta be kidding me...
Popeye: Alright mouse, you've given me a good challenge but I think at this point it's finally over for you.
Mickey: How are you even this strong? You just ate spinach and you're already stressing me out badly... wait... SPINACH!!! THAT'S IT!!!
Mickey then gets the sorcer hat and puts it on, as Popeye dashes up to Mickey after Mickey wore that. Mickey was fast enough to keep himself away from as much as Popeye's punches, he kept this up until Popeye's spinach soon runs out.
Popeye: Oh crap, I think I runned out of spinach.
Mickey: A-ha! Now this is the perfect time for me!
Mickey then pulls out his magical brush knowing Popeye is weakened in which he then completely erases Popeye away from existence. Mickey was so relived it was all over, he was about to walk away being tired.
Mickey: Well Minnie, wanna go out?
Minnie: Yeah Mickey, that was pretty insane... wait... why is there a flying of spinach right there?
Mickey: Huh?...
The can of spinach then comes up and revives Popeye from being dead, Mickey is completely shocked about this knowing he is already tired and Popeye soon punched Mickey so hard again.
Popeye: Well mouse, you think this is all over?
Mickey: How are you still alive? Wait... it's the spinach...
Popeye: Yep and this time, you are going down for real.
Mickey: NO I WON'T!!!
Mickey then pulls off the keyblade, he makes sure Popeye's spinach wore off again and then after it did Mickey completely uses the keyblade to kill off Popeye completely before he would go back to normal. Mickey also then uses his paint brush to erase both Popeye's body AND the spinach can so Popeye doesn't get revived, Mickey was then taking so much deep breathes after that.

Mickey: That... was... incredibly close... what... was that?...
Minnie: Mickey don't worry, it's all over now. Say, now that the sailor is gone do you want some ice cream?
Mickey: Sure thing Minnie. That fight was really stressful so I could really use an ice cream cone after what I just went through.
Mickey and Minnie then walks out of the park and goes to an ice cream shop to get some ice cream, meanwhile with Olive Oil who was crying at the death of her fallen boyfriend was crying and then just walks home and gets some flowers for Popeye's funeral.

Boomstick: That... was... INCREDIBLE!!! Where do I even start with that matchup? But the question though is how did Popeye lost this matchup?
Wiz: The reason why Mickey Mouse wins this matchup was simply because this is composite Mickey Mouse meaning we used every single canon version of him possible for this matchup. If we use JUST only Mickey Mouse from the 2013 animated series then the outcome would come out WAY different.
Boomstick: So because of this, how was Mickey Mouse able to kill off Popeye through that? Are there any feats Mickey has crossverse that makes him this strong?
Wiz: Actually yes, Mickey Mouse in the original classic shorts can do pretty much nearly everything Popeye has up in sleeves but the real advantage to Mickey in this case is because of Kingdom Hearts and Epic Mickey as Mickey was able to transcend all of Disney and Disney contains the likes of Marvel, Star Wars, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and infact, Sonic the Hedgehog made a cameo in the Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph.
Boomstick: But what if Popeye eats his spinach? Could that really give Popeye the chance to win against Mickey or what?
Wiz: It could give him an advantage yes but the problem is it wouldn't help in for this full battle especially since Popeye's powers are temporary when he eats his spinach and Popeye can still be hurt without his spinach plus, Mickey's magical paintbrush in Epic Mickey could really help Mickey erase the spinach from Popeye because keep in mind this is composite Mickey Mouse we are using.
Boomstick: Wait but didn't Popeye survive the universe being turned off, I think I heard he did?
Wiz: In the comic as said earlier, Popeye still needed his spinach to survive that and like I said, Mickey with the magical paintbrush could erase the spinach can of Popeye giving the mouse the edge. Doesn't help the fact the feat Popeye did there is only universal on a highball while Mickey is above all of Disney in Kingdom Hearts seeing Disney as fiction in which Marvel is owned by Disney and there are a lot of outerversal Marvel characters out there.
Boomstick: Hold on a second, but didn't Popeye like defeat Superman? I think I heard he did if anything.
Wiz: Here's the thing with this case though. He didn't and that actually wasn't Popeye, the character who looks like Popeye was actually a PARODY on the character and not Popeye himself called "Captain Strong" so Popeye didn't defeat Superman, only a parody version of him did. Popeye may be stronger than Mickey but thanks to Mickey's hax and all, he's easily taking the victory here.
Boomstick: Okay Wiz, I get this point now. Both characters may be equal in terms of toon force but there really is no way Popeye could put the mouse for good.
Wiz: Also, in the Disney Junior cartoon Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Mickey has toodles with him who can summoned anything in which it's shown that if someone else eats Popeye's spinach then they will become just as strong as him so when you think of it, Mickey could've just used toodles to give him an exact copy of Popeye's spinach and become equal to Popeye's power levels and before you say Popeye punched his animator, characters that threaten/beat up their authors aren't quantifiable OR meaningful feats since they didn't actually hurt the animator but rather just the fictional version of the character. Popeye realistically couldn't harm us or any of the actual authors since he's just fiction at the end of the day and even if we gotta say he did punch his author, Mickey actually did interacted with the real world and have been aware he's fiction too meaning this feat shouldn't count whatsoever.
Boomstick: Seems like Mickey Mouse is really the real icon in this case. M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E Popeye has been stomped by the "Spinach"!
Wiz: The winner is... Mickey Mouse!!!

- The connections between Mickey and Popeye is that they are both iconic classic golden age cartoon characters originally animated in black and white with overpowered toon force. Both characters have transcended their verse, they both try to protect the love of their life who in which both wear red dresses (Minnie Mouse and Olive Oil), and are enemies with a giant person who is fat (Pete and Bluto), both characters also have reality manipulation, and have something extremely oversized on them (Mickey's shoes and ears and Popeye's arms).
