- The connections between Mega Man X and Optimus Primal are that they are iconic 90s successors to equally iconic 80s blue robot war heroes (Mega Man and Optimus Prime) who not only carry their names but also bear striking ressemblances to them, whether it is intentional (in Mega Man X's case) or coincidental (in Optimus Primal's case). Both come from beloved sequels praised for having more complex stories than their predecessors (specifically Mega Man X1 to Mega Man X5 and Transformers: Beast Wars). Their stories take place in the far future where their predecessors are distant memories and the wars they fought in are over (the Mega Man X series takes place in year 21XX, 100 years after the classic Mega Man series, Transformers: Beast Wars takes place 300 years after the end of the Great War between the Autobots and the Decepticons). Both started out with very humble origins (Mega Man X was Dr. Cain's assistant, Optimus Primal was the captain of an explortation ship) before they were thrust into becoming heroes in wars that determined the fate of not just their own kind, but also organic lifeforms (Mega Man X joined the Maverick Hunters during the Maverick Wars to prevent Sigma from destroying humanity and turning all Reploids into Mavericks, Optimus Primal became the leader of the Maximals during the Beast Wars to prevent Megatron and the Predacons from killing Optimus Prime, who resided on Earth in stasis, which would lead to the Decepticons winning the Great War and the Predacons ruling Cybertron). This is despite them being either inexperienced (in Mega Man X's case) or well beyond their prime from past wars (in Optimus Primal's case). Both would be the pioneers for their robotic kind progressing toward becoming more like organic lifeforms (Mega Man X was the first robot with free will, becoming the template for all Reploids that came after him, Optimus Primal introduced organic beast modes for Cybetronians). They battled robotic leader enemies with similar goals (Sigma wanted to use the Sigma Virus to assimilate all Reploids into Mavericks, Megatron wanted to use the Transformation Virus to conquer Cybertron). Both were faced with the near extinction of their kind (when Dr. Weil corrupted the Mother Elf into the Dark Elf, whose influence spawned more Maverick attacks, Megatron extracted the sparks of countless Cybetronians and planned to absorb them into his own spark) and sacrificed themselves to bring about world peace (Mega Man X used his body as a seal to lock the Dark Elf in Yggdrasil, which separated his mind from his body, Optimus Primal dragged himself and Megatron into the heart of Cybetron, destroying them both). Their heroic acts paved the way for new eras where the technological and organic are one (Neo Arcadia and Cybertron would both become techno-organic civilizations). Both would become spiritual guides for the next generation of heroes (X's soul persisted in the form of a Cyber-Elf who guided a reawakened Zero in order to stop Copy X and Dr. Weil, a version of Optimus Primal found himself in an alternate universe known as Viron 102.0 Beta, and on a mission given to him by Alternity, became a Protector and acted as a spirit guide for the Robots in Disguise 2001 incarnation of Optimus Prime in order to stop Cryotek and Galvatron).
