History[]
Maxwell was born with a twin sister, Lily, and 39 brothers. Each child received a magical gift from their parents, Edgar & Julie. Maxwell received a notebook that would create nearly anything he wanted.
However, Maxwell and Lily became spoiled. One day, they pranked a begging man, but he got mad and turned Lily into stone. Maxwell and Lily retreated to their brother, a farmer named Edwin, who told them to collect Starites to turn Lily back to normal. Starites were formed by the happiness of others.
Maxwell collected enough Starites to restore Lily to normal, and it turned out that the beggar was Edgar.

Feats[]
- Created the DC universe with help from Lily
- Defeated Brainiac with heroes from alternate universes
- The first mission of Unmasked involves Maxwell breaking down a brick wall with his bare hands without the use of his notebook
- Using adjectives, can tank hits from many powerful characters.
- Can effortlessly one-shot powerful characters using certain weapons and adjectives
- Capable of fighting, creating characters on par with, and absorbing energy from the Anti-Monitor who erased the entire DC multiverse. He then used his absorbed power and the magic of his notebook to recreate infinite destroyed worlds.
Faults and weaknesses[]
- His powers are tied to his notebook. If he were to lose it, he can't use them anymore
- However, losing his notebook would not automatically get rid of any adjectives/objects/people he has used it for
- While he can create many pre-existing characters (such as from the public domain, mythology, DC Comics, and Nintendo) it would be a large assumption to say these Scribblenauts versions of these characters are automatically comparable to any of their canon depictions in terms of power and abilities.
- Maxwell has shown impressive capabilities and imagination throughout the series, but he is still a young boy who can sometimes be brash, juvenile, and even mischievous and might not always use his notebook to its maximum efficiency.
- In certain games Maxwell is pushed away from using certain instant-win adjectives like "dead" because they are looked down upon and not hero-like, and he is not seen using anything like this in the official Scribblenauts comic A Crisis of Imagination, likely showing that unless bloodlusted or extremely desperate he would not "take the easy way out" in fights.
- There are certain limitations to Maxwell's notebook, although some may be able to be handwaved as being made because of real life problems that would naturally arise from a game where you can create anything (age rating controversies, game mechanics, legal issues, etc.)
- It is only being able to create objects that physically exist (as opposed to more conceptual things)
- It cannot create places (ex. Maxwell can create a castle but not a kingdom)
- It cannot create vulgar/suggestive content past a certain cartoony limit
- It cannot create certain proper nouns or copyrighted characters/objects (aside from characters from the Scribblenauts universe, certain Nintendo intellectual property listed above, and many assorted DC Comics characters)
