History[]
Mark Hoffman was a young man and loving brother of Angelina Acomb. He worked as a police officer for Metropolitan Police Department. He was known for trying his best to serve justice and over the years acquired a good and respected reputation. He kept building up his reputation until his sister was murdered by her ex boyfriend, Seth Baxter. He became depressed and developed a drinking problem. He kept working as an officer and got promoted and got assigned to the the Jigsaw case. He was angry that Seth got out of jail in 5 years when Seth was originally supposed to serve life in prison. He set up a trap mimicking the Jigsaw killings to try to get the police thinking that it was the work of Jigsaw. Unlike the Jigsaw's traps it was rigged to kill Seth. Jigsaw soon found what Mark Hoffman did and kidnapped him. He made Hoffman pull the trigger of a shotgun pointing at him. It did not fire and Hoffman found out it was a test for him. Jigsaw then asked Mark Hoffman if he wanted to become his apprentice or if he wanted to have evidence that Hoffman set up the trap that killed Seth sent to the police. Hoffman agreed to become Jigsaw's apprentice. After Jigsaw was killed, Hoffman kept working on traps and testing people until he was left to die, chained to a bathroom by another Jigsaw apprentice named Dr Lawrence Gordon for killing Jigsaw's widow, Jill Tuck.
