History[]
In ancient times, Malefor was born the very first purple dragon. Being very intelligent, he first mastered Fire, before going on to master Ice, Wind, Earth and Electricity, and even more. In fact, he was the first dragon to master more than one element.
However, as Malefor’s power grew, so did his arrogance and the other dragons became afraid of him. Eventually, the Dragon Elders sent him into exile. Now filled with hatred for all dragonkind, he embraced the Dark Aether and took the title of “the Dark Master.”
He launched a war against Dragonkind, and with his dark magic split the earth, creating a mountain that became known as the Well of Souls. When Malefor was eventually defeated and imprisoned in the mountain. However, though his body was imprisoned, he was still able to reach out and cause trouble in the world.
Learning that there were prophecies of a coming purple dragon, Malefor became worried that the new purple dragon’s power would equal his own, so he laid plans to have the purple dragon’s egg destroyed. This plan failed, and Spyro was born. Eventually, Malefor escaped the Well of Souls, and set out to conquer the world. This brought him face-to-face with his most dangerous foe – Spyro.
