Introduction[]
Mortician: Maleficent, Disney’s Mistress of all Evil.
Redshock: Medusa Gorgon, The Snake Witch from Soul Eater.
Mortician: Witches are known throughout history as some of the most vile creatures of all, including a time period in which people attempted to burn them.
Redshock: But these witches aren’t your typical potion brewing, green skin, cackling Halloween witches their powerful with twisted minds!
Mortician: For this battle, Maleficent will scale to her original movie counterpart, as well as using content from the Book, Mistress of Evil and not her Kingdom Hearts or the Angelina Jolie counterparts
Redshock: Because Angelina Jolie Maleficent is essentially a different character. And after reading her book she doesn’t need for Kingdom Hearts feats
Maleficent[]
Mortician: Ah Disney. Remember when you used to make GOOD villains and not ‘surprise twist’ pansies that everyone and their mother could see coming? I’m talking about the glory days, the OGs; The Evil Queen, Scar, Jafar , Ursula, goes right down the line. And they had better names too, like Cruella and Gaston. Not these wannabe jokers like Robert Callaghan or that Hans guy from Frozen.
Redshock: And yet, while Jafar became an all powerful genie and Ursula ruled the seven seas for about 2 minutes, they’re just amateurs when compared to arguably the most powerful villain in Disney's library, second only to the demon Chernabog.
Mortician: She's the Dark Fairy, The Mistress of all Evil. But most just call her, Maleficent. Her name, by the way, literally translates ‘’to cause evil and harm’’. That should have been the first of many red flags. You can attribute the other 20 flags to her incredibly hostile mannerisms.
Redshock: While you'd be forgiven for thinking that her story begins and ends in the original 1959 movie, there is much more about this dark fairy that meets the eye. Abandoned in a hollow tree occupied by crows, Maleficent, you could say, was born to cause discord and disharmony. Despite lacking almost everything that other fairies were known for, such as wings and cheerful dispositions, Maleficent was eventually adopted by Nanny, one of the most gifted fairies to ever exist.
Mortician: Gifted and wise in the ways of magic? Certainly. Common sense wise, not so much. Nanny enrolled Maleficent in a fairy school where she learned magic at an impressive rate, showing that even though she wasn’t a traditional fairy, her prowess was undeniable. Securing her position as one of the top students.
Redshock: That's nice.... Now to cue the tragedy. During her graduation ceremony/16th birthday, there was a bit of a mishap and her crows ended up getting hurt. As a result of this minor offense, Maleficent turned into a FUCKING DRAGON and burned down the entire fairylands. Guess she had a bit of Carrie in her. And of course you know the rest: She curses a baby, has a good laugh about it, turns into a dragon again and is supposedly killed by one of the many princes that no one remembers because before the 90s, Disney Princes had 5 lines tops.
Mortician: But to some, the story of Maleficent continues into other media, but regardless of that, there is no doubt this evil mistress has more than earned her notoriety. A reputation built on spite, power, and fear. Maleficent is cunning, ruthless and most importantly, patient. I mean, she waited 16 whole years just to get revenge on not being invited to a party, and in her usual charming manner, isn’t usually one to boast but with ‘’the powers of hell’’ at her disposal, she doesn't really need to verbally convince you of anything.
Redshock: Her dark magic is, unsurprisingly, more powerful when she’s shrouded in darkness. She can teleport within bolts of green flame, hypnotize the weak minded, see through walls and create and dissipate hidden walkways. Without even addressing her more destructive powers, Maleficent's dark aura is so powerful that other magical beings, such as the 3 fairies, can only alter her magic to small degrees. According to one of those fairies, Merryweather, Maleficent ‘’knows everything’’, which might seem far-fetched, but in context it most likely means that Maleficent has the ability to observe whatever she wants. Giving her limited precognition and clairvoyance.
Mortician: In battle, Maleficent can channel a variety of weather based attacks, and even causes storms to erupt when angered. She can call upon powerful bolts of lightning and blasts of fire that can disintegrate and break solid rock, as well as conjure storms large enough to encompass an entire kingdom and block out the sun. She can passively paralyze people with a glance, turn others, including fairies into solid stone, and is resistant to mind control.
Redshock: a witch, her primary form of causing disorder is through her many curses. Like the sleeping curse that she used to put Princess Aurora into a never-ending rest. But she’s most famous for creating entire forests of thorns and can even control them from miles away. She can literally whip around clouds with her scepter and force them to surround entire castles.
Mortician: To disperse a cloud formation that size you would need a minimum force of 600 megatons of TNT. That's equal to 12 Tsar bombs!. And that’s not even her strongest attack, she had destroyed a solid stone arch that looks to weigh at least 17000 tons. And given who it was that trained her, Nanny, it comes as no shock to hear that by now, she has far surpassed her former master, to the point where she even competes with other mythical creatures.
Redshock: Such as the Tree Lords, an ancient race of giant tree people that Maleficent outsmarted and burnt to ash. Most of this took place years before her final confrontation with the prince, so her powers would certainly have gotten much stronger.
Mortician: But the real money maker, and the spell most people know her for, is the one where she summons all her power to shapeshift into a DRAGON! Eat your heart out Smaug; this is the most terrifying dragon I’ve ever seen. Back to the topic at hand: Maleficent's Dragon form is immensely powerful and to prove it, as we said earlier, her first transformation resulted in the destruction of the entire Fairyland, and that was before she learned to control it. By the events of the original movie, the Dark Fairy had mastered her wicked powers as a beast, and defeated multiple Fairies, Tree Lords and foolish Knights.
Redshock: She’s near invulnerable and even magical weapons like the sword of truth aren’t guaranteed to hurt her. Her fire breath can smash through stone bridges and burn entire swaths of forests that she herself created. She can even stand in her own flames and take no damage. And the only weapons that can harm her are, you guessed it, ‘’good magic’’ because that trope hasn’t been done to death.
Mortician: Being an all powerful witch, Maleficent’s weaknesses wouldn’t be easy to exploit. Iron/silvered weapons can burn her to a degree, and more powerful magic users should be able to overpower her, it's just that there aren’t any in her universe. But without a doubt her greatest fault is her overconfidence, which ultimately led to the prince escaping, and was so sure of herself that she never considered the one power in the world that could end her life. Love.
Redshock: Lame! But even that wasn’t enough to keep her away forever. The Mistress of all Evil is nothing if not persistent, even death itself is only temporary for the Dark Fairy. She is, after all, evil at its purest form.
Maleficent: “You think you can defeat me? Me, the mistress of all evil?”.
Medusa Gorgon[]
Mortician: The Death Weapon Meister Academy Also known as D.W.M.A is an educational facility that trains young minds in the way of weaponized combat. The reason it exists at all is to help combat the criminals of the world, which is a pretty stupid idea to have kids take them down.
Redshock: The thing about D.W.M.A is that a lot of people can turn into weapons and stuff. While it’s like the best thing ever, it also doesn’t make sense.
Mortician: This applies to the villains of Soul Eater as well. While the common criminals are mere thieves or an occasional serial killer, the main threat lies within the Witches, which all coexist in their own faction. While many work in harmony to get rid of Weapon Meisters, one would go above and beyond to stand out and make a name for themselves.
Redshock: And Medusa was pretty well known already for being a capital bitch. She was one of the three Gorgon Sisters, a family that was pretty well known for being trouble for Death himself. Who, in this world, is the principal of a school.
Mortician: The Gorgon sisters all share the same wit and cunning, but they also have a deep hatred for one another, since they have betrayed each other for the sake of survival time and time again. But Medusa was above and beyond the simple cheating death thing. Instead she had something WAY worse in mind. She was going to resurrect the one guy Death could not kill. And she had the right tools to do so.
Redshock: Medusa’s Witch Magic is often used in small portions, often in the form of sneak attacks or surveillance. One small soul snake is all she needs to know someone's exact whereabouts, and no one can really notice it unless their soul wavelength is specifically designed to find sh*t like that, like D.W.M.A’s human lie detector, B.J.
Mortician: You see, souls in Soul Eater are more than just a person’s spirit. They are all unique in their own way and can be used spiritually to amplify abilities and attacks, often achieving a Resonance state with their respective weapons. However, witches seem to have their own powers and fight on par with experienced Weapon Meisters without a weapon at all. Instead they rely on magic, which can be used for numerous things.
Redshock: Other than offensive magic, all witches have something called Soul Protect. Soul Protect is actually a stealth tactic witches use to disguise their presence. Under normal circumstances, a Meister would have no issue finding a witch, but Soul Protect is advanced enough to make them practically invisible from a person’s senses. It also helps that they can fly around as they please with their broomsticks.
Mortician: No wonder Death made a school to specifically hunt them down! No one can catch these women. And they’d probably have an even harder time with Medusa’s madness all over the place. Her main battle style is called the Vector Arrow, which places arrows anywhere she wants. Anyone touching them will get launched wherever it points to, and can set up into the world's most violent conveyor belt.
Redshock: These arrows can also be used for a more direct approach as edged weapons that can spawn from any point in her body, but she mainly uses one as a tail for sneak attacks. They’re fast enough to keep up with Weapon Meister Franken Stien.
Mortician: She’s also experienced in some good ol’ fashioned hand to hand combat, and her arrows make it impossible for anyone to close in on her, while simultaneously making it a cakewalk for her to land a nice punch to the face. While her offensive arrow magic is a giant threat on its own, where she really shines is what her powers can do off the battlefield. Instead of directly killing anyone she wants, she targets the more mentally unstable people to do it for her. She does so by amplifying Madness.
Redshock: Madness is basically what you think it is: Crazy Juice! The more mentally unstable someone is, the more likely they’ll go nuts. Pretty obvious, right? Well Medusa has the power to reduce someone’s mental state with her snake magic. In fact, this is how she was able to get the better of Stien after he cut her in half. That’s pretty fucked up there, snake lady.
Mortician: Turns out, Medusa is far more clever than anyone expected, much to the dismay of D.W.M.A. You see, when Stein dealt what normally would’ve been a fatal blow, everyone was distracted by the awakening of Asura, the first Kinshin, which was Medusa’s plan all along. This timing would end up saving her life. As soon as he was revived, all Stein and Medusa could do was laugh. Medusa won, and the world would be sent into chaos.
Redshock: However she was too busy celebrating her victory to notice that Stein kinda cut her ass in half. Normally someone would’ve said “Well shit, I’m dead.” But Medusa wasn’t one to give up that easily and decided to herself “Welp, time for plan B.” Gotta admired that willpower. Medusa was able to put her entire soul into a singular tiny snake as it escaped with her life. She survived, possessed a young child, and continued to manipulate from the sidelines.
Mortician: But Medusa usually isn’t alone. She was able to get some other witches and an immortal criminal to do her dirty work for her. Although, since literally everyone hates her, you’re probably wondering how she did it. Well, during conversation with Witches Eruka and Mizune, Medusa was able to insert her magic into their bodies.
Redshock: Bow chicka bow wow!
Mortician: NOT LIKE THAT! Anyway, in a mere instant, she was able to make Mizune explode from the inside out. In the way she put it, all she needs is direct contact with a person to turn them into a living bomb. In the few seconds she touched them, thousands of tiny snakes entered their bodies, with only a few needing to exist in someone to activate their devastating effects.
Redshock: Meaning if Medusa gets in close, you only have two real options: Be her bitch or go kablooey! It was with this 100% foolproof friendship making strategy that she was able to revive Asura to begin with. As you can probably tell by now, she’s not a really good family member to have. And you know what the worst part is? Someone was crazy enough to knock her up and give her a kid!
Mortician: That poor child would be known as Crona, and her parenting skills are about as well as you’d expect. She trained Crona to kill anything and everything, and just to add insult to injury, she experimented on her own son! She injected Black Blood into Crona, forming a buff, insane, abusive thing called Ragnarok to exist alongside them for the rest of their days!
Redshock: The reason she did all this was to create a perfect Kinshin, most likely to control Crona like a puppet. And eventually would die from her own daughter which was part of her plan, she finally treated Crona like a real child, which ultimately made Crona that much closer to being the Kinshin she wanted all along.
Mortician: Medusa may be a bitch, but she’s definitely a badass. No other witch could ever outdo the snake charming Gorgon sister.
Medusa: “You think that you can punish me? How arrogant”.
Death Battle[]
Prologue[]
In Death City Maleficent appears out of a portal. She looks around, looks up into the sky and sees a moon with a terrifying face. “Quite the unusual kingdom to rule over but a kingdom nonetheless”. Maleficent hears an evil sinister laugh and turns around and sees Medusa on a flying broom. She jumps off and lands on her feet. “I don't know what you are or where you came from but this city belongs to me”. “Insignificant fool, you dare challenge me? Me? The Mistress of all Evil!”.
FIGHT![]
Maleficent then fires fireballs from her scepter at Medusa. Medusa starts dodging as a bunch of vectors emerge from her back and she launches them toward Maleficent. She gets a few hits in but then Maleficent teleports and reappears behind her. And shoots lightning at her causing her to collapse. “Mere party tricks from a wannabe witch”. Medusa is now extremely pissed and socks Maleficent in the face causing her to stumble. Medusa uses this opportunity for an attack of her own.
Maleficent fires a green lightning bolt from her scepter only Medusa summons a flurry of arrows to come up from the ground protecting Medusa from Maleficent’s attack. Then she summoned large thorn branches wrapped around Medusa’s body. Maleficent then fired 3 green fireballs from her hand and threw then at Medusa after she broke out. She dodged her fireballs and charged Medusa, ramming and biting at her until Maleficent transformed her body into green flames burning Medusa.
A few vector plates appear and Medusa summons her Vector Blade. With a single swipe causes Maleficent to step on one of her vector plates. Maleficent is launched in multiple directions while Medusa attacks with her blade. She summons a Vector arrow pointing up and as Maleficent hits it she’s sent flying. Medusa then jumps up and kicks Maleficent in the face slamming her into the ground “Who’s the wannabe witch now?”. Maleficent gets up and her body is covered in green flames.
“Now you deal with my full power you Sinister Serpent and all the powers of Hell!”. She morphs into a dragon and fires her fire breath at Medusa. She jumps up in the air and a snake creature emerges from Medusa’s back and attacks Maleficent. The snake bites Maleficent’s neck and Maleficent does the same to the snake. She then chomps on the snake and throws it causing Medusa to be flinged with it.
Maleficent teleported behind Medusa and knocks her back with her scepter and continued to hurl fireballs but Medusa summoned her broomstick and flew away from Maleficent while she shot down her arrows, Maleficent hovered in the air while chucking more green fireballs until one landed knocking her down and breaking her broomstick.
Medusa surrounded herself with her Vector Arrows making a spinning tornado-like shield. Maleficent uses her fire breath but her steam vector blocks it as she spins towards Maleficent knocking her down. This time she has her vectors surround Maleficent crushing her. She roars and while her mouth is open Medusa takes the opportunity and fires a bunch of snakes into her mouth as she grins “you lose”. She snaps her fingers causing the snakes to blow up in her body.
As the smoke clears she sees Maleficent’s robe on the ground. Thinking she’s won she walks away only for Maleficent’s robe to disappear as Maleficent reappears in front of Medusa and grabs Medusa by the neck “You cannot destroy the Mistress of all Evil!”.
With her scepter she turned Medusa into a stone statue. Maleficent then laughs maniacally at her victory covering the city in green flames as Medusa Gorgon stood helplessly frozen in her statue shape in her new permanent home.
FINISH!
Results[]
Redshock: Looks like the goth mommy beats the other goth mommy
Mortician: Despite Medusa’s intelligence and cunning, Maleficent completely outclassed her. As far as strength goes, she scaled to Crona until the end of the series. And Corona’s best attack at the time was only 234 tons while Maleficent’s attacks could reach 600 Megatons. Making her much stronger than Medusa.
Redshock: Medusa did have the speed advantage but since Maleficent could teleport it didn’t even matter. Maleficent could only really be hurt and killed by good magic which Medusa obviously didn’t have plus Maleficent can turn to mist meaning Medusa couldn’t really hit her with anything devastating. Medusa can take pain but can still be killed.
Mortician: Medusa gave Maleficent quite the challenge but in the end she was no match for Maleficent’s Raw Power, Dark Magic Invulnerability, and Versatility had proved why she is the Mistress of all Evil.
Redshock: Ironically Medusa got stoned, The Winner is Maleficent!
