History[]
Dr. Abel Stack worked on a top-secret U.S. military project involving 51 experimental robotic soldiers that resembled humans, with goal being to create a weapon system capable of independent thought. While the previous 50 models all went insane for one reason or another, causing the program to be shut down and the robots terminated, Dr. Stack saved X-51 by removing his auto-destruct function. Unfortunately, Stack couldn't stop the bomb's activation and X-51 was forced to leave him behind before it exploded. Deciding to continue Dr. Stack's dream of human-robot peace and becoming a fugitive in the eyes of the military, X-51 would go on to become the superhero Machine Man.
