Luke Skywalker VS Paul Atreides is a What-If? Death Battle written by DiAma1.
Note that this episode will only be using canon Luke and Paul from the novels.
Interlude[]
Wiz: Luke Skywalker, the Chosen One
Boomstick: Paul Atreides, the Kwisatz Haderach.
Wiz: These two came from humble origins on desert worlds, but were chosen for a greater destiny.
Boomstick: He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skill, to find out who would win a Death Battle!
Luke Skywalker[]
Wiz: The orphaned son of the galactic dictator Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker carries the blood of the most powerful lineage in the galaxy. This potential was unrealized when he was raised on Tatooine, but after losing his aunt and uncle he was trained by the great Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda .
Boomstick: Soon enough, he used his training to destroy the Death Star, overthrow his father and the empire, and save the galaxy from darkness!
Wiz: To help him along this journey, he uses a lightsaber, a sword made out of concentrated plasma. He once used his father's blue lightsaber, but after losing it he crafted his own green one. It has a blade capable of cutting through almost anything, and can be used in seven fighting styles.
Boomstick: Luke specializes in Form IV, also known as Ataru-style. This fighting style focuses on agility and covering all openings when attacked. He is also a master of Form V, Djiem So, which focuses on aggressive attacks and pressure. He learned that one from his father, Darth Vader!
Wiz: Luke also has control over the Force, a field of energy that binds all things in the galaxy. Using the Force, Luke can perform feats such as telekinesis, mind control of the weak-minded, and projection of his physical form across the galaxy, among many other things.
Boomstick: He is also a master tactician, an incredible pilot, and eventually became a Jedi Master himself.
Wiz: He's fought off Stormtroopers, Sith, and even a Rancor... unarmed!
Boomstick: He does have one glaring weakness, though. He has difficulty controlling his anger, which can cloud his judgement. When he gets overly emotional, he can lose control, like the time he almost killed his dad, or the time he almost killed Ben Solo, his apprentice.
Wiz: Just another reason to not mess with Luke, the ultimate Jedi Master.
Luke Skywalker: I am a Jedi, like my father before me.
Paul Atreides[]
Wiz: There was once a great war between humanity and intelligent machines, with humanity coming out victorious. In the absence of machines, humanity replaced machines with the human mind, cultivating humanity to heights never before imagined.
Boomstick: Some people became human-computers called Mentats, able to run massive calculations with their brains in an instant. Others became Navigators of the Spacing Guild, able to use their mind to perfectly predict travel through folded space, allowing faster-than-light ships to travel across the galaxy. And finally there were the Bene Gesserit, a cult of women with such a mastery over society and eugenics that they seem like magic, and can control people with just their voices and predict the future.
Wiz: All of this was possible due to a special spice called Melange, which was harvested from the planet Arrakis. Melange opened the mind, and allowed humanity to tap into their true potential. The Bene Gesserit used their potential to work for generations to create the ultimate life form, a Messiah who had such great power that he could be a Bene Gesserit, Mentat, and Navigator all at once. A being with a mind more powerful than any other in the universe. This chosen one was a boy named Paul Atreides.
Boomstick: After his family was lured to Arrakis by the Emperor in an attempt to kill them, Paul began to spend years among the native Fremen people, and Melange spice made its way into his system, allowing him to fulfil his destiny and become the one they all had been waiting for: the Lisan al-Gaib.
Wiz: His brain is incredibly powerful. It once took Paul three seconds to process a computation involving thousands of computational bits. He has the complete memory of his ancestors, and he can see across space and time to see infinite timelines and possibilities.
Boomstick: At the age of 15, Paul was an equal in combat to Gurney Halleck, one of the most deadly men in the universe. He is the best warrior among the Fremen, who are incredibly skilled warriors. He has killed Sardaukar, who are raised with the singular goal of combat. Needless to say, Paul is the strongest fighter known to humanity.
Wiz: He also has command over the Voice, a power that allows him to tell others what to do, and they have no power to resist. And with his shield generator, he is protected from all fast-moving attacks.
Boomstick: His main weapon is the Crysknife, made from the tooth of a Shai-Hulud, or a giant sandworm. Speaking of the sandworms, he can summon them and ride them! That's badass! These sandworms are capable of casually swallowing building-sized vehicles, and they can travel beneath the sand as if it were water. He also carries lasguns and rifles, perfect for killing foes from afar. And as a living supercomputer, you can bet that he never misses.
Wiz: Owing to his sight of the future and incredible computational abilities, Paul is a master tactician, and can see any move that an enemy might try to make.
Boomstick: He isn't perfect though. For one, he doesn't have very remarkable durability, and aside from his shield's protection, will die to anything that may kill a normal human. He even managed to lose his eyes, although he could still "see" due to his psychic powers.
Wiz: Even so, as God of the known universe, none would be wise to fight the man known as Muad'dib.
Paul Atreides: We Fremen have a saying: God created Arrakis to train the faithful. One cannot go against the word of God.
Intermission[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities!
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
Death Battle[]

On the planet Arrakis a man walked through the endless desert, a black hood covering his face. He lifted the hood to breath, and it became clear who it was: Luke Skywalker. He had come to this planet because he had sensed a disturbance in the Force, like a great power was on this planet.
A gust of wind blew sand into Luke's face, and when he recovered, another man had mysteriously appeared in front of him. He wore a black suit and had a large blade hanging from his hip. Most striking, however, was his lack of eyes. This was Paul Atreides.
Paul: I know who you are, Jedi. You need to leave my planet, now.
Luke: And if I refuse?
Paul unsheathed his Crysknife and got into fighting position. Luke responded likewise by activating his lightsaber.
Paul made the first move, lunging at Luke, swinging his blade towards Luke's gut. Luke jumped backwards and swung his lightsaber in response, but Paul ducked under the attack.
Luke waved his hand, attempting to perform a Jedi mind-trick. "You will drop your weapon", he said. Paul grinned and responded in the Voice: "No. Drop yours."
Neither one dropped their weapon, and they both realized that their foe had great willpower to be able to resist the temptation. Luke ran forward and swung in front of him, which Paul dodged before kicking sand up and at Luke's eyes. Luke pushed his hand out, and the sand stopped mid-air. He then flung the grains with the Force at bullet-speeds towards Paul.
Paul dodged many of the grains and deflected the rest with his knife. He then jumped forward and kicked Luke in the chest, knocking him to the ground. He then ran, trying to kick Luke, but Luke rolled out of the way and got up.
Luke tossed his lightsaber and it spun towards Paul like a boomerang, but Paul ducked backwards just in time to dodge it. It returned to Luke's hands and he lunged towards Paul, slashing downwards. Paul tried to deflect the attack with his knife, but the lightsaber cut it clean in half. Paul fell backwards onto the ground.
Luke stood above Paul with his lightsaber at his foe's throat. Paul laid in the sand, pinned and unable to get up. Suddenly the sand began to shake, and both of them began to sink. Luke sank up to his knees while Paul disappeared into the sand entirely.
Seconds later, a massive Sandworm erupted from the ground, with Paul riding on its back. It breached like a whale and sent sand flying everywhere before slamming into Luke. When it moved away, Luke was half-buried and almost passed out. It then swam through the sand again and slammed Luke out of it, sending him flying into the air. Luke spun in the air, did a flip, and landed on his feet.
Luke ran towards the Sandworm as it charged towards him, and he jumped and flipped onto its back where he faced Paul. He ran at Paul on the worm's back, digging his lightsaber deep into its flesh. As the Sandworm slowed to a stop, Paul jumped off, and Luke followed suit. He used the Force to lift the worm and throw it far off across the horizon, where it landed with a massive explosion of sand and dust. As Luke turned around, Paul's fist slammed right into his face. Luke dropped his lightsaber and staggered backwards. Luke reached towards his lightsaber to grab it with the Force but Paul punched him again.
Luke dodged a third punch, and pushed Paul backwards. He then reached out his hand and lifted Paul off the ground with the Force. Paul began to grab at his throat as Luke choked him, but couldn't do anything. He then lifted his lightsaber with the force, activated it, and held it above Paul, spinning like a fan blade. Paul slowly rose upwards, kicking and choking, and was passed through the spinning blade. As he went through, he was sliced into hundreds of tiny pieces.
KO!
Luke's lightsaber deactivated and returned to his belt. Suddenly, the ground began to shake. Luke looked around him and saw worms coming towards him from across the horizon. He sighed and activated his lightsaber once more, ready to face them in battle.
Conclusion[]
Wiz: This battle was pretty close. Luke held the advantage in strength and range while Paul was superior in intellect and speed. Their combat experience and training was about even, with both of them having trained with the best warriors in the galaxy.
Boomstick: Ultimately, this battle came down to the one thing that Paul could not counter: the Force. Paul could keep up with Luke in a normal fight, but the Force turned the tide of battle because Paul had never encountered anything like it.
Wiz: Being a Jedi, Luke had the willpower to resist the Voice, but Paul had no way to counteract the effects of the Force when it was used in an offensive capacity.
Boomstick: Plus, Paul's Crysknife was no match for Luke's lightsaber. Without his main weapon, Paul's combat tactics were severely limited.
Wiz: While Paul could have won under different circumstances, Luke's powers with the Force were simply too much for him to handle.
Boomstick: Looks like Luke forced his way to victory.
Wiz: The winner is Luke Skywalker.
