Background[]

The precise circumstances that led to Luc dying and having his soul placed with the body of a Shadow minion are unknown. Usually such a process consumes the spirit and soul of the unfortunate human completely but Shadows are so weak that Luc managed to hang on and possess its body- though he was caught in a losing battle to preserve his memories of his past as the two struggled for control over several weeks. Eventually the spiritual clash culminated with Luc consuming the Shadow and resulted in Luc gaining full control. This however was not without cost: prior to the battle, and especially during it, Luc's memories of his family, friends, and past life were constantly attacked and destroyed until he could no longer recognize the faces or voices of those he once knew or their connection to him.

Once he was successfully reborn into the Shadow's body completely- Luc set about trying to find his place in the chaotic and seemingly malevolent world he'd been thrust into. He has found allies in the nature-loving Pixies, a pair of honeymooning Giants, and the stagnant yet orderly Undead factions but found dire enemies in the fiery and blood-soaked Daemon horde and the young but rapidly evolving Seed race- not to mention the ever-present threat of adventurer attacks.

A war between the various minions and bosses of the Spiral Dungeon rapidly arose coinciding with Luc's rebirth and soon he was drawn into the mix alongside his friends, his enemies, and seemingly everything in-between.

Death Battle Info[]

Skills and Abilities[]

A full list of these can be found here

Stats[]

Luc possesses six stats after being reborn in the Spiral Dungeon: HP, AP, ATK, DEF, ABI, RES. So long as sufficient HP remains- Luc can heal injuries without worry. AP controls how often Luc can use his Abilities- which all feature an AP cost. ATK and DEF increase his physical offense and defense while ABI and RES do the same regarding non-physical attacks and protections.

Immaterial/Materialize[]

In his base state Luc is a living Shadow- he possesses no mass and cannot physically interact with the world around him no matter how hard he tries unless he uses a skill or ability. He can create a material body to battle with but this opens him up to material attacks even as it enables him to better move and fight as well as wield equipment. Shifting between these forms is noted to be too slow to do in the midst of trading attacks against a peer opponent.

Shadow Attacks[]

Luc possesses a variety of methods of using shadows to assault his enemy such as forming claws to strike from his own shadow, creating bullets of darkness he can fire from his hands, and creating spikes that emerge from the shadows of other objects or even opponents. The spikes have the potential to inhibit regeneration and render injury permanent regardless of HP remaining.

Shadow Senses[]

Darkness, no matter how thick and without light, cannot inhibit Luc's vision. Additionally he has a skill designed to show him his opponent's capabilities so long as he can see their shadow and said shadow is dark enough.

Subterfuge[]

Luc's powers are largely based on keeping himself hidden and sabotaging his opponent. Information sensing powers fail when attempting to observe him until he demonstrates a given skill or ability- at which point that specific power can be sensed. Luc can also grapple his opponent's shadow as though it's the real thing and, when his shadow intersects that of an enemy, lowers their HP without the opponent realizing it as no pain manifests and their HP value doesn't appear to change.

Feats[]

Level 1+[]

(Immaterial) Could outrun any Level 1 adventurer since his movement was based on pure will- unaffected by needing to process taking a step, interacting with the ground, controlling balance, etc.

(Immaterial) The basic Shadow Strike can cut over an inch into solid stone.

(Immaterial) Survived a Monk pulverizing a stone wall he was on and encountering an enchanted sword that could slice through rock with ease- the damage in both cases was not a type that could affect an Immaterial being.

(Immaterial) After expending all of his power in a single, futile, attack; Luc lured a trio of adventurers to a boss that could kill them rather than continue fighting them head-on.

(Immaterial) Does not fatigue in this state or need sleep.

Level 15+[]

(Immaterial) A basic Shadow Strike pierced more than twelve inches into solid stone.

(Immaterial) Could accurately count the number of rooms, cubicles, monitors, and chairs in a falling building before it finished its fall.

(Materialized) Stat-wise should be superior to a Level 9 Seed- capable of carrying and firing a tank turret as well as wielding it like a shield.

(Materialized) Created a shockwave when running at full speed- enough to surpass the speed of sound.

(Materialized) Struck a Hunger Daemon, a t-rex sized minion, hard enough to send it flying backwards.

(Materialized) Avoided shots from WW1-era rifles after they were fired- even at close range.

(Materialized) Possesses enough HP that blowing off his head or ripping out his heart is not fatal and can be healed in less than a second.

(Materialized) Cold fierce enough that other Minions had their blood freezing solid and liquid forming in their lungs did not concern his health- though it was still chilling him.

(Materialized) Minions that heat metal to a molten glowing orange state on-contact only reduced his HP by a bit over 10% on-contact though an extended duration would've been dangerous.

(Materialized) Unleashed multiple attacks against Cold Crawlers- each of which was noted to leave a crack of a gunshot when they started.

Equipment[]

Night-Thorn Spear: A spear tipped with the thorn of a Night-Thorn. Whenever it deals damage to an enemy it also harms the target's spirit in relation to perception. Enough hits will cause the opponent to no longer see someone in front of them or hear the words they say- even touch and taste can be affected as well as more esoteric sensory methods. Repeated strikes or critical injuries cause the process to occur even faster.

Weapon of Ruin (Flail): A two-handed war flail that carries the power of Ruin. While Luc possesses this weapon- he has not pledged Allegiance to the leader of the Undead (Saxe the Raven) and so cannot use it's power.

Grim Cloak: A fabric that merged with Luc's Materialized clothing. It offers a slight regeneration quality in that it replenishes a small amount of HP when Luc is damaged. Unlike the Night-Thorn Spear- the Grim Cloak can only be used once per 'combat'.

Weaknesses[]

Light Sources: Luc even when Materialized is susceptible to bright sources of illumination and easier to blind than others of his Level. His various Shadow-based powers also are reliant on darkness to function optimally. When in his Immaterial state he can still move through natural sources of light but many magical ones will repel him the same as normal shadow.

Water Phobia: Prior to being reborn in the Spiral Dungeon- Luc obtained a phobia of water. The cause of the phobia is unknown but Luc in both his Material and Immaterial states has difficulty focusing when large amounts of water are in danger of interacting with him. When submerged this discomfort turns to blind panic and Luc will lash out at anything nearby.

Shadow HP: In his base Immaterial form Luc is difficult to damage without magic. Enchanting a blade to be sharp or a fist to strike with extra force is not sufficient to damage him- but the Shadow's HP values are pathetically low to the point where any direct hit is liable to kill it dead even when a considerable Level advantage exists.

Unskilled: Luc had next to no experience fighting in his previous life. While he's received advice and slight training in his new body- any truly practiced opponent finds his physical movements easy to read.
