History[]
Leslie Willis was a popular and abrasive shock jock in Metropolis who made a habit of ridiculing Superman, claiming he only saved people to show off. Leslie's outspoken and polarizing style garnered her as many supporters as disputants, her boss among the latter as his wife was saved by Superman. While her gig on WLXL was short lived, Leslie was offered a job at CatCo Worldwide Media in National City. Things went well for Leslie until starts to make shocking rants about Supergirl, unable to be fired due to her two-year contract but transferred to traffic detail by a livid Cat Grant. On her first evening on traffic chopper, a storm moves in over the city. Leslie disregarded the storm with the copter damaged, Supergirl coming to save the pilot and then Leslie. But when Supergirl garbed Leslie, a bolt of lightning hit her and passed into Leslie who fell into a coma as a result, her skin bleached and hair turned bluish-grey. Leslie is taken to the hospital, where she recovered and quickly learned that she now had the power to generate and manipulate electricity. The former radio personality, finding a rush in killing people, renamed herself "Livewire" and wreaked havoc since.

Becoming a metahuman due to the lightning bolt being infused with Kryptonian DNA, Livewire has the ability to absorb and project high amounts of electricity. By manipulating the electrons in her body and clothing, Livewire could also transform into pure electrical energy to travel through anything with a live current and control machines. Her electrical body is also intangible to normal attacks: hence why even Superman has difficulty harming her. But if exposed to water or completely drained, Livewire is rendered powerless unless she finds a power source to recharge from.

- In a manner similar to Harley Quinn and Mercy; Livewire was initially a tv character that was brought into the comics due to her popularity.
- Her outfit is actually made out of electrical ions that are charged differently than her skin; creating a contrast. She's technically naked.
