Comic: Soldiers. What would our country be without them... Protecting the innocent, Making way for our future... and--
Asura: Killing! That's the best ability of a soldier! Skills and Ability can earn yourself the rank of "Strongest Soldier"
Comic: Like with Levi Ackerman - Humanity's Strongest Soldier from Attack on Titan!
Asura: and Captain America - Marvel Comics' Greatest Soldier!
Comic: I'm the Nerdy Reader named Comic and he's the Loud-mouthed fighter/brawler named Asura!
Asura: We will be analyzing their abilities, weapons, feats, armor and skills to find who would win a DEATH BATTLE!!
Levi Ackerman[]
Asura: Once upon a time in a place where everyone was happy, no war was involved, lived Eldians and Marleyans.
Comic: It was a truly peaceful time between both races. Unfortunately, slavery became rampant as years went by. One young slave named Ymir Fritz changed humanity forever. One day, she was blamed for letting the pigs out so she was punished by being hunted as ordered by King Fritz. While she ran, she stumbled and came across a creature and from that day on was the beginning of a truly cruel world.
Asura: JESUS! That King Fritz guy is truly such an asshat! I’m really confused with Ymir’s taste in men. Anyways, after stumbling, she became the first titan. She served the King and helped the Eldians decimate the accursed Marleyans. King Fritz then “rewarded” her and together, they had children named Maria, Rose & Sheena. After Ymir died, she was eaten by her daughters. Blech!
Comic: That was the King’s way of making sure that the power remains. While the power divided into the creation of the 9 titans, a certain clan was formed as an accidental result of the Eldian Empire’s Experiment with the Subjects of Ymir and Titan Science. They were designed to protect Eldia’s King and were entrusted with the survival of the populace. The name of the clan being the Ackerman Clan. They possessed physical abilities higher than the average person and had the mental awareness of knowing what exactly needs to be done regardless of how it is done.
Asura: One of the Ackermans was named Levi Ackerman.
Pop-Up: Levi’s mother, Kuchel, died from an unknown disease, most likely from one of her clients since she worked in a brothel. Levi was then adopted by Kenny for quite some time. He did not know he was his uncle.
Comic: As a young lad, Kenny taught Levi how to fight, how to survive, and how to utilize a knife. Becoming very dangerous at even such a young age that he even dispatched an adult fairly quickly despite him being much bigger than Levi. Time went on and Kenny realized that he had equipped Levi with the tools he needed to not just be dangerous but also the tools to survive on his own. He chose to abandon him. Years later, Levi joined the Survey Corps.
Asura: He definitely made a first impression. Not to mention, he was an absolute beast in his very first mission.
Comic: Sure, he may have had training utilizing the ODM Gear. But note that this time around was his first time facing a titan and engaging them. He effortlessly defeated an abnormal that decimated dozens of scout members. Abnormals are at least two times stronger than your normal ones. Using an ODM Gear is no joke as well.
Asura: Those things can go at around 101 meters per second and you need to be really, really, strong to even be a user. He can go towards the air and a speed at that rate is really strong. That’s at least 10 g’s of force! Ten times bigger than earth’s gravity plus the average human can only handle between 5 to 6 g’s force at its maximum and Levi can effortlessly survive that and battle titans at the same freakin’ time!
Comic: Before we talk about his equipment, we must talk about Levi’s impressive powers and abilities. He can harm a titan with a single kick! Because, a titan was once able to withstand a sword going through its face as if it was nothing! But he was able to harm one with a strike even though it has been stated that combat would be useless against a titan since they are known to be very durable and can withstand a lot of damage such as a building falling on top of them.
Asura: Oh my! Well… now I understand why he was able to easily dispatch Eren with a single punch to the face! Levi is fast enough to run at speeds faster than athletes! He can react fast enough to dodge rocks from the Beast Titan! He was even able to dispatch the Female Titan and brought it down within 10 seconds and dealt much more damage to it than his whole squad and Eren in his titan form ever did!
Pop-Up: Among the scouts present, Levi is the only one who was able to see the rocks while all the other scouts were wiped out. In a calculation, the Beast Titan can throw the rocks at 819 miles per hour which is in transonic speed. Levi saw them in slow motion which makes his reaction speed at least around 7,000 mph or Hypersonic level.
Comic: Levi has truly done so much in his 10-year tenure in the Survey Corps and is one of the most experienced soldiers around. While Levi isn’t really known to be a highly durable character due to being often overlooked due to his strength, speed and weaponry. Note that even an average ODM User is highly durable since they can survive the energy exerted on his body by the impact of landing at high speeds on solid surfaces with the 3D Maneuver Gear, which would yield approximately 331,532.5 Joules. That is around Small Building Level+ type of durability.
Asura: That’s the average member of the Survey Corps! Since it has been stated Ackermans are much stronger. We can conclude that Levi’s durability level is Building Level. That means he can withstand attacks that can damage a structure like that! Those Ackerman jeans are just very, very, strong.
Comic: Levi is strong enough to easily cut Titan napes, quick enough to defeat the Female Titan and Beast Titan in just less than a minute, even fast enough to dodge multiple men shooting at him while evading them using his ODM Gear.
Asura: Keep in mind that Levi was caught off-guard. He was moving so fast and used his acrobatic skills to move around. The fact that Levi did not even get dizzy one bit from that shows how much he can take.
Comic: He was evading, moving around and even killing them! Another instance was when he was able to slice the Jaw Titan’s mouth before it can even react and the Jaw Titan is one of the quickest titans among the 9!
Asura: The same titan that can manhandle Eren and he just made one move so quick that it couldn’t even attack any further. I think the walls were built because everything outside needed protection from Levi.
Comic: With his speed, he also taken out 30 titans all by himself and caught up to his prisoner relatively quick. He could even hold his own when he was a rookie like the time he was able to take on Miche Zacharius, the strongest soldier at the time, and fought him with nothing but a knife despite Miche being equipped. He was able to disarm him off his sword very fast and was able to fight evenly with Erwin Smith. Levi has done a lot of feats thanks to his strength, speed, durability and pure skill. He lives up to his name as Humanity’s Strongest Soldier. But none of these feats would be possible if he wasn’t smart.
Asura: Levi is smart, like really smart. Being a part of the Ackerman family has given Levi access to the collective knowledge of all Ackermans who have come before him through the Path of the Ackermans.
Comic: Levi is regarded as the best user of vertical maneuvering equipment. He has shown such proficiency with the ODM Gear that he was able to do so much feats.
Asura: As part of his peculiar combat technique, Levi also holds his right sword backhanded, blade pointing out and behind him rather than in front of him.
Comic: This caused the blades to cut in a circle around him, allowing him to employ spinning attacks. This allowed him to sustain momentum for unrelenting attacks while also effectively utilizing his power and stamina. Levi has demonstrated a remarkable capacity to quickly analyze events and make thoughtful decisions in the heat of battle, in addition to his exceptional battle prowess.
Asura: Now that we’ve covered the amount of feats that Levi has done thanks to his intelligence, strength, speed and skill. Let’s move on to his arsenal! His weapons!
Comic: As we have mentioned earlier, Levi uses an ODM Gear as his standard equipment. Along with it are 6 pairs of ultrahard blades which he uses to cut titan napes.
Asura: ODM Gear helps Levi go around his opponents and grapple towards surfaces, his blades to fight or even blind titans, along with his Ackerman Blood which we’ve mentioned is an enhanced prowess boost.
Comic: Later in the series, Hange Zoe, introduced the Thunder Spears. A new way to kill titans without getting way too close since casualties were rising. Thunder Spears are thrown towards a target and its pin is pulled to detonate it. It is strong enough to break “hardening” which some titan shifters use such as the Attack Titan, Beast Titan, Female Titan & Armored Titan.
Asura: These are the weaponry that Levi utilizes to make Titan meat as well as kick ass and take names!
Comic: So dangerous that even titan shifters acknowledge the skills he possess.
Asura: With a character so badass, it’s really hard to beat an Ackerman. Especially when that certain Ackerman has a lot of experience, physically capable, and possesses weapons so strong that it can go toe-to-toe with titan shifters!
Comic: Key word: “really hard”. Even as an Ackerman, Levi also has his fair share of flaws. First and foremost, he’s still human which means he can die from guns, knives and other weaponry.
Asura: Such as the time when he was scarred after withstanding a point-blank thunder spear explosion.
Comic: His other weakness being is that Levi does not possess a weapon he can use for as long as he’d like as most of his weaponry are limited. His ODM Gear can run out of gas, his swords can shatter and can only hold up to 6 pairs. His thunder spears are limited as well. Should Levi run out of weapons, he can be killed by a much powerful opponent relatively quick or be outnumbered since he can’t escape quickly.
Asura: However, despite all that, Levi will do his best to defeat his enemies and protect humanity. Levi will always fight until the mission’s done.
Comic: In the continuity, Levi was even able to kick ass even though he was a severe condition during the last battle and retired on his own terms.
Asura: I guess you could say that no one can keep him down for good.
Comic: True words, my friend. True words.
Asura: I know.
Captain America[]
Comic: Captain America. The Leader of the Avengers, the Star Spangled Man with a Plan, the Super Soldier, the Country’s favorite boy scout. But before he became all of those things. He was just a sickly adolescent with ambitions.
Asura: Except his ambitions were almost impossible to accomplish thanks to his sicknesses and frailty. He got rejected a lot of times attempting to enlist in the army for World War 2. Mission: Impossible… until Chester Philipps, a general, admired his spirit. So he had the kid take part in “Operation Rebirth” involving the Super Soldier Serum. Steve took up the chance.
Comic: After the operation, he went from a Skinny Adolescent to possessing the physical prowess beyond those human capabilities. While it is stated that Rogers became “Peak Human”, I’d label it as Enhanced or Low-Superhuman prowess if we take into consideration everything he has done in his life as a hero.
Asura: Which we will get into later.
Comic: Thanks to the Super Soldier Serum, Steve Rogers’ physical prowess increased to enhanced levels such as low-superhuman level of strength, speed, durability, reflexes and agility. Not only that, for 3 months after transforming into a Super Soldier, Rogers trained in gymnastics, acrobatics, and martial arts!
Asura: Soon after that, he donned the red, white, and blue costume and began his career as Captain America!
Pop-Up: Originally going to be named “Super American”. Joe Simon changed it to “Captain America” due to Super being overused and Captain barely being used and felt it was better for his name.
Comic: Over the years, Captain America has developed an impressive résumé. He is strong enough to restrain one of Marvel’s most dangerous mutants, Wolverine, and can keep up with him and he can punch so hard that he can turn a man’s head 180 degrees as well as lift 2,200 lbs in a casual workout session.
Asura: For speed, Cap can run faster than the eye could track. It’s not at all surprising considering that Captain America is a casual bullet-timer and can easily dodge bullets and lasers… sometimes without even looking. Simply, because he can “see faster”
Comic: While Cap isn’t exactly known to be a durable character. He has survived tons of occurrences that would kill an ordinary person. Like getting punched by the Winter Soldier, what’s so dangerous about that? His bionic arm is strong enough to punch through steel and can kill a human with a punch or two. But one of his most impressive feats of durability is that he survived a building falling on top of him and he was at the center of it, like directly below it.
Asura: Even the doctor that checked up on him said he had no broken bones. I call bull on that. Isn’t Cap supposed to be peak human?
Comic: That’s what “he is” but with everything he has done, we really can’t label him as one.
Asura: So he’s a mutant.
Comic: No, he is not. He’s still human, an enhanced human is a better way to describe it.
Asura: Yeah, true. I agree with you on that.
Comic: Cap’s strength, durability and speed are impressive, however, what is not really being talked about is his Intelligence.
Asura: Just to be clear, he is nowhere as intelligent as Batman & Iron Man.
Comic: What a way to talk about a combatant.
Asura: I just want to make it really clear since most people don’t really think that Cap is smart. Just let me finish, man, alright?
Comic: Okay, fine.
Asura: So yeah, Cap isn’t a super genius but he has his moments of intelligence such as formulate a strategy to defeat Cache who knows every martial arts in the world, master any weapon and its use just by holding them as well as beat a race of aliens in Zero Gravity which is something that the race has mastered over the years and somehow, Cap was able to defeat them.
Pop-Up: Captain America also has a healing factor, albeit weaker than Wolverine, but much, much, higher than any human. Survived a headshot once.
Comic: Those qualities are what earned him to usually take charge of the Avengers. Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Cap is also adept in every form of martial arts and is skilled in other aspects of being an Advanced Military Operator which includes strategizing, spying, and more. However, what is a superhero without his weapon.
Asura: The Vibranium Shield. Made of Adamantium, the one that makes up Wolverine’s bones, and Vibranium, the strongest metal on earth. It is a circular shield that is big enough to defend a majority of his body and uses it to throw or bash his opponents.
Comic: It is highly durable. It can withstand Thor’s attacks, a god capable of destroying the entire Solar System, without a scratch.
Comic: The shield has never been destroyed by force and has only been broken by the use of magic. In other words, the shield is indestructible to any kind of force. For offense, depending on the user, can catch up towards a missile and even decapitate a non-adamantium version of Ultron and dent Stark’s armors.
Asura: Iron Man’s standard armor can withstand a lot of damage and has easily survived a nuke explosion in the past.
Comic: While Cap’s standard weapon is his shield. He also carries a utility belt containing military cable, grenades, smoke grenades, healing spray and others. Combining his powers, abilities, and his weapons have allowed Cap to do a lot of feats.
Asura: Not to mention, his suit is made of Kevlar, Nomex, and light-weight titanium which is resistant to water and fire, it is also bullet-resistant and even immune to vampire bites. It is also resistant to piercing weapons.
Asura: Captain America has tanked Iron Man’s attacks, survived Gambit’s point-blank explosion, beat Nuke to a bloody pulp and he is durable as hell, he has one dodged a camera flash faster than light. While Cap isn’t necessarily one of the strongest in the Marvel Universe. He has a pretty good battle record as he has been able to beat Iron Man, Daredevil, Winter Soldier & Wolverine.
Comic: That’s just a few of his feats and it will take very long if we talk about his feats, like all of it. But in my opinion, Cap’s best quality is his experience.
Asura: For a man who’s 200 years old, he is looking very, very, very, young. I mean I’m only 30 and I look like I’m 45.
Comic: Man, stay focused, the readers here came to know about the characters, not about you, I’m sorry. Just keep it a minimum. Plus, Cap looks young because his aging is slow but that’s not really worth mentioning in this fight. Anyways, Captain America has fought in a many-year war and was once in a 12-year war in Dimension Z. Just to be clear, no, not zombies. That’s just what it was labelled as. With his experience, Cap has been able to, on numerous occasions, overcome opponents much stronger and faster than he is since he has faced a lot of different opponents.
Asura: Now that we’ve talked about Captain America’s capabilities, let’s talk about his flaws. First, he can easily be killed by high-tier superhuman heroes such as Thor, Captain Marvel & the Hulk since his prowess is considerably lower than a good amount of Avenger members. He can still be killed by knives and guns as well since he is still a mortal.
Comic: His one other weakness is that Stark has once pointed out that Cap’s shield is too small to protect his legs and that it could be used for an advantage.
Asura: Although, that would be hard, since he is crazy fast. Unless you’re a high superhuman character.
Comic: However, even with all these flaws, and even though that Cap is not the strongest, nor the fastest, nor the toughest, nor the smartest heroes around. By god, will he fight until the death.
Asura: That’s bravery for you. The one thing that he is the best at. Never giving up.
Comic: He proves that you don’t have to be the best to earn yourself a place in one of the all-time great heroes as all it takes is courage and bravery.
Asura: and of course, the people, Captain America is one of the best characters in Marvel and you can never change my mind. I will fight you if you try so don’t.
Intermission[]
Asura: There we go! Both of the combatants are set and the fight is coming!
Comic: Will it be the Soldier of Attack on Titan or Marvel's greatest soldier who'll be victorious? We're about to find out!
Asura: F*** yeah! It is time for a... DEATH BATTLE!!!!!!
Battle![]
Trost District - Year 854
Levi Ackerman and his soldiers are seen clearing out the Titans in the District. “Captain! We’re out of gas!” A soldier screamed as he watches his comrade about to get devoured by a Titan. However, the screen turned black for a split second, and Levi is seen carrying his comrade to safety while the titan he attacked was left headless. His other men follow as they go around the district with their ODM Gear.
“Captain Levi is really something else!” The soldier thought to himself. Levi then hands over the comrade he saves to another scout as he continues to lead the cleanup on Titans. As Levi goes around in the air, he hears a soldier screaming “There’s 10 titans in this area! Fall back!” Levi charges in and disposes each of them with his blades and lands on top of a roof. “Woah! Captain Levi is impressive!” as his other comrades cheer him on. “Tch! The soldiers they assigned with me are weak but at least no one died.” as Levi thought to himself. Every other soldier is seen helping with cleanup.
However, an abnormal titan shows up and nearly grabs Levi but he propels himself upwards and as he falls to the back of the titan. “Should I use my thunder spears? No. I can handle this the old way.” Levi contemplates before unleashing an hook to attach himself and slices the Titan’s nape with brute force. Some blood spills on Levi’s cloak which bothers him. “Have the Titans been cleared?” as Levi looks around with no one left in sight. “Everyone! Report back! Trost District is now secure! I’ll stay behind!” as Levi leads his men to report back to HQ as they salute to their superior.
(Stop Music)
Levi is seen leaving a cafe as he drinks on his tea but then he notices a bright blue light from another street which surprises him. He decides to check it out as he attaches himself to the roof.
Captain America, is seen falling out of the light and into the floor, and the light closes. “Looks like evacuating the people was easier than I thought” as he tells himself but as he gets up, he notices something is off. He pauses and sees people looking at him and runs to take a closer look at everything and that is when he realizes that he has been dropped in the wrong timeline.
“Where am I? How did I get here?” as Cap now questions himself. Levi arrives in the street where Cap had originally appeared and sees people scared and goes up to them. “What happened? Tell me!” as Levi asks. “Captain Levi! I think there’s a Titan Shifter! He came out of a blue light and he just ran off!” the citizen said. “What does he look like?” as Levi’s eyes are suddenly filled with rage and intent to kill. “He had a big circle thing on his back!” as the citizen responded. Levi then pursues the man and as he goes around the city, he thinks to himself “A big shield behind his back? He must know that’s where Titan Shifters are taken down! I need to kill him before he transforms in this district! This will be hard…”
Levi suddenly spots him as Cap notices him from the air as he descends in front of him. “There he is!” Levi thinks to himself as he looked to end things quick and releases a hook to jab through his face. “Wait you got all w—“ but before Cap could explain, he is forced to cartwheel out of harm’s way which surprises Levi as he lands in front of the First Avenger.
“Who the hell are you? Are you a Titan Shifter? I won’t let you get away that easily!” as Levi demands an answer. “What’s a Titan Shifter? I’m just trying to find an area for me to communicate to get back with my team. My name is Steve Rogers and I’m the Leader of the Avengers and you are?” as Cap responds. “Team? Don’t tell me the titan shifters are working together.” as Levi thinks of a worse possible alliance.
“This is the end of the line for you. I lost many of my comrades in this war!”
“Wait! I’m not one of the enemy soldiers. I’m telling you!”
“Liar. I’ll have to kill you here and now!” as Levi fearlessly charges him.
Results[]
Comic: Both Captain America and Levi Ackerman were extremely capable soldiers. Capable of giving their enemies the hardest of times thanks to the guidance of their weaponry and their enhanced physical prowess.
Asura: While Levi did have the advantage to cause much more damage than Captain America. None of the weapons, no matter what he does, could even damage Cap’s shield one bit. All of Levi’s weaponry is used for only titans typically the ones with hardening power. But Cap’s shield can just take anything Levi can throw at it especially because it has taken hits from Solar System Level foes like Thor.
Comic: While the shield is strong enough to harm or even kill Levi with a few good hits, Levi did have the aerial advantage to escape from one place to another. But it was only a matter of time where the tide of the battle turned. While Levi has the speed advantage, Cap was still able to catch up as he is fast and strong enough to use his shield to catch up to missiles and an average one can travel 800 kilometers per hour. More than double of the ODM Gear’s 366 kilometer per hour speed.
Asura: While Levi could surpass Cap in travel speed. Reaction speed is a much bigger gap. Remember when Levi saw the rocks in slow motion passing him? That was impressive since the Beast Titan typically threw his rocks at 800+ miles an hour. Captain America on the other hand, has dodged bullets.
Comic: You might be thinking “Didn’t Levi do the same?” Yes, he did, but that was because he was utilizing his ODM Gear to go around his places. Cap has been regarded as a “casual bullet timer” and he has been able to dodge a bullet at point-blank range which makes his reaction speed much superior to Levi. To add more to that list, Cap has also dodged Hawkeye’s arrows who can fire them at near machine gun speed, reacted to Ultrasonic Based Attacks as well as dodge Electro’s lightning.
Asura: Doing some calculations, Electro’s lightning struck at about 5.2 microseconds and since Cap dodged. We can say that his reaction speed is at a Massively Hypersonic Level. Faster than Levi’s speed feats.
Comic: This made Captain America be able to dodge a good amount of Levi’s attacks without too much problem.
Asura: Not to mention, Captain America is smart enough to use his surroundings to keep up with Levi despite his speed advantage. But in other categories, Cap had the advantage. Levi should scale to Mikasa, if not, then be superior, and she can lift 2-3 metal beams casually so there’s no reason that Levi can’t do the same. But Cap has done several strength feats that surpasses that such as lift Big Bertha who weighs 700-800 lbs & casually lift more than a ton in a workout.
Comic: Cap’s reflexes gave him an edge too as he could react to attacks faster than light at times meaning he is likely to dodge Levi’s attacks quite a number of times.
Asura: As far as durability goes, Levi has survived an explosion point-blank and Hange has stated that any normal soldier would’ve died. Although, Levi was put out of action for days and needed some stitching. However, Cap has survived a building fall on top of him and a similar explosion to Levi but was still able to fight.
Comic: Don’t get me wrong, Levi’s weaponry is much more varied than Cap’s but none of them had a chance at the shield. Plus, it certainly had its flaws, as most would be able to use their weapons for as long as they want to but that wasn’t the case for the Veteran as his swords and thunder spears were limited too. So was his ODM Gear, should that run out of gas then Levi would resort to running on foot.
Asura: While Levi is a brilliant tactician in his own right, Captain America was smarter.
Comic: He was able to take down aliens in a new form of martial arts and note that Cap was inexperienced and that those aliens have trained in it for decades. Beast has also stated that he can be an expert on weapons just by holding them. In combat skill, Levi’s score is 11/10 but the combat he uses was never really specified but we can conclude that Cap was superior as he is an expert in every form of combat. Plus, Cap is much more experienced.
Asura: He has been around since the World War 2, fought a 12-year war and a 100-year war against Korvac. Experience was their biggest gap.
Comic: While Levi can access experience from past Ackermans. It is a different scenario when being in action against enemies.
Asura: Levi has only been a soldier for 10 years. Levi gave it his all. Though, Captain America had the edge in all of the other categories.
Comic: Even if Cap was only stuck with his utility belt, he can still gain the upperhand thanks to that.
Asura: Levi may have had more varied weaponry and had speed on his side, but when you are up against a man who has got you beat in strength, durability, reflexes, intelligence, combat skill and experience. Your chances of winning are pretty slim. This battle was truly a Bash to the Face!
Comic: The winner is Captain America.
