Prelude[]

(Cue Death Battle Theme)

Wiz: Whenever there is a creature that rules a jungle, what kind of thing is it often?

Boomstick: Some sort of spririt?

Wiz: Sometimes, but a lot of times, it is powerful, giant creature, feared or loved by all others in its domain. One example is King Kong, the giant Gorilla and the King of Skull Island.

Kong Intro KongvsKraid

Boomstick: Another example is several lightyears way. Kraid, the Brutal Ruler of Brinstar.

Kraid Intro KongvsKraid

Wiz: He's Boomstick, and I'm Wiz.

Boomstick: And we'll be matching up these two jungle giants to see who would win a Death Battle!

Interlude[]

King Kong[]

(Cue King Kong (2005)- Something Monsterous... Neither Man Nor Beast)

Wiz: An uncharted island in the Pacific, named Skull Island, is home to a vast array of life. Dinosaurs, large lizards, giant insects, inhabited the island. There was even a strange tribe of native people who lived on the island. But one animal ruled over all others in the tropical rainforest island that was Skull Island...

Boomstick: And that's King Kong!

Wiz: Yep! King Kong found Ann Darrow when the natives of Skull Island offered her as a sacrifice to him. While initially thinking that King Kong was a terrifying creature, Ann Darrow comes to find that Kong is actually intelligent and caring, as shown when he fights a group of Vastatosaurus Rex to save her.

Boomstick: Now that's devotion for you.

Wiz: When the crew that came to film Skull Island came to retrieve Ann Darrow, King Kong felt angered that it seemed like shew was being kidnapped. However, he was then captured as he attempted to get Ann Darrow back.

Boomstick: Yep, they used chloroform, which is a gas, but not "a gas."

Wiz: Very funny, Boomstick. Now, when he was taken to New York, he was put on display for the public. However, he soon enough broke loose, going to search for Ann Darrow. Seeing the carnage, Ann Darrow goes to meet with Kong. The go to a frozen lake.

Boomstick: Yep, and so they frolic... until the military attacks!

Wiz: Yep! And so, King Kong climbs up the Empire State Building, when he is attacked by planes. While he is highly injured by the bullets, King Kong sacrificed himself, plummeting off of the Empire State Building. And that's where we know the fanous line, "Beauty killed the Beast."

Boomstick: (Sniffles) Gets me every time.

Wiz: Yeah... Well, here's King Kong's stats:

  • Height: 25 feet (7.6 meters)
  • Mass: 5 tons

Boomstick: He's shorter than the original, that's for sure.

Wiz: Correct. Exactly half his height, in fact. Now, when it comes to abilities, King Kong sure does not disappoint. Probably one of his most notable abilities is he exceptional strength.

Boomstick: Yeah! He overpowered the jaws of a Vastatosaurus Rex, which are basically evolved T-Rexes!

Wiz: He can also toss objects such as cars and boulders, and he could also break through the rock wall on Skull Island. Kong's fighting skills are great too, as he was able to fight a group of V-Rexes at once while protecting Ann Darrow. King Kong also has excellent mobility, as he is able to gallop on all fours quickly and jump with great height and distance. Being a primate, he can also climb expertly, as he was able to suspend himself from large vines on Skull Island and scaled the Empire State Building in New York.

Boomstick: He did both of those while carrying Ann Darrow in one of his hands.

Wiz: But probably one of Kong's most famous characteristics is his intelligence. Along with showing caring for Ann Darrow, he also demonstrates strategc behavior in battle, as he outwits more beastial lifeforms such as the V-Rexes.

Boomstick: You could say he uses his brainer.

Wiz: But of course, King Kong does have his weaknesses.

Boomstick: His major weakness is that his durability is not the best out there.

Wiz: Though he was able to survive attacks from the V-Rexes without any major harm, and withstood bullets from smaller guns, the Machine Gun fire from the airplanes injured him, causing him to fall to his death. However, you have to be a pretty tough guy if you take on large reptiles practically daily.

Boomstick: But let's see about this large reptile...

Kraid[]

(Cue Metroid: Zero Mission- Kraid's Lair)

Wiz: The Space Pirates of Zebes originally were not from Zebes. However, when they arrived on Zebes, they and Mother Brain caused they genocide of the native species, the Chozo. While Mother Brain controlled the entire planet of Zebes, each of the Space Pirates inhabited and controlled a region of the planet.

Boomstick: Brinstar, the region with the jungles and swamps of Zebes was controlled by Kraid.

Wiz: That's right! Kraid is a large, reptilian alien with a dragon-esque appearance and a crest on his head, with long arms that have hands with two fingers.

Boomstick: Kraid's also hella fat!

Wiz: Granted, that's just his natural build.

Boomstick: Well yeah.

Wiz: So, when Samus has come to planet Zebes, she finds her way to Brinstar. She ends up traveling to the deepest parts of Brinstar, referred to as Brinstar Depths.

Boomstick: And often called Kraid's Lair because of the fact that it is the area that she travels through to reach Kraid.

Wiz: Yep! Now, once she gets to the farthest area of Kraid's lair, Kraid emerges from the ground to battle her. Kraid was much larger than many of Samus' foes, which would often prove quite challenging.

Boomstick: He's known for taking up two fricking screens in his battles!

Wiz: However, Samus would overcome that by utilizing strategy to attack. Once Kraid is killed, he will drop bountiful items for Samus, including the Varia Suit or Speed Booster.

Boomstick: Pretty great rewards, yeah.

Wiz: Now, here are Kraid's stats:

  • Height: 32.5 ft (9.9 meters)
  • Mass: Unknown

Boomstick: His mass might be unknown, but we can say its probably... a lot.

Wiz: Yeah, I would agree. So, when it comes to abilities, Kraid's selection is pretty great. For starters, Kraid is able to tunnel through the ground, which is shown as he often emerges from the ground at the beginning of his battles.

Boomstick: Welp, you've got to love a burrowing reptile... Dig it!

Wiz: Ha ha, very funny. Now, a great many projectile attacks. His most notable attack of this sort is that he can shoot out spikey structures from three holes in his belly. These can be launched fairly quickly, breaking through things such as a thick stone pillar and are lodged into materials such as metal. They can even explode when stopped after a short period of time. These spike appendages can be continuously regenerated.

Boomstick: Man, that sounds pretty painful.

Wiz: Another projectile attack is with his claws. He is able to launch claws from his fingertips, which will rotate in the air. However, these can be broken with enough damage to them.

Boomstick: He is also able to spew rocks out of his mouth! Which makes fighting him pretty rocky!

Wiz: That's right! As for physical attacks, he has very sharp claws, as he will also use his claws to slash opponents. Kraid has a fair amount of strength., as his attacks can deliver significant damage to Samus' energy.

Boomstick: So, he has some pretty sharp sense of attacks.

Wiz: Now, a highly notable feature of Kraid is his durability. This is shown by the fact that many of Samus' weapons are ineffective on him. However, there is a limit to this durability, he can be injured by attacks sent inside him through his mouth. Delivering blows from missiles, super missiles, or charged beams will cause him irritation, which will leave his mouth exposed.

Boomstick: Also, Kraid cannot move very quickly when walking, so he's pretty slow.

Wiz: But regardless, Kraid is clearly a formidable foe if he is in the high ranks of the Space Pirates of Zebes. Though he has never bested Samus, we'll see if he can win against the King of Skull Island...

Ready[]

Wiz: Well, Wiz, looks like it is time for a Death Battle. Combatants ready, and...

Boomstick: DEATH BATTLE!!

Death Battle[]

(Cue King Kong (2005)- King Kong)

Skull Island

King Kong stared up at the evening sky as the sun set over the horizon. The light levels began to drop, and stars were just appearing in the sky.

However, these celestial lights were joined by another light. A glowing object rained from the heavens, falling into the valley below King Kong's den. The great ape's curiosity peaked, for he had never seen something like it before.

He leapt to a rock ledge, and to another, grabbing hold of handholds he could access. Then, he leapt down to the forest floor.

He bounded through jungles towards the site of the crash.

Night had fell now, and King Kong had reached the crashed object. It seemed to be not of rock or any material he new of. Around the area, he smelled something familiar... blood.

He looked around, and saw that there were the corpses of Vastatosaurus Rexes strewn across the ground, mutilated with large claw marks. He wondered what could have done this, for no animal that lived on his island (besides himself) could have possibly felled these V-Rexes.

Just then, the ground began to shake near him.

(Cue Super Metroid- Kraid's Theme (Crocomire and Phantoon))

Out of the corner of King Kong's eye, he spotted a disturbance in the ground surface. He turned just in time to spot cracks forming and chunks of ground breaking up.

There emerged Kraid.

Kraid leered at King Kong, not knowing what the ape like creature was but he did know that he had his instructions from Mother Brain, and he would carry them out. He knew to kill this creature.

King Kong beat his chest, roaring in a territorial manner. Kraid merely twitched his fingers, and roared a bellowing roar at King Kong.

Fight![]

(Cue King Kong (2005)- Tooth and Claw)

King Kong leap towards Kraid, fist out stretched. However, Kraid stepped back and slashed at King Kong, slicing his chest. King Kong stood back, a bleeding cut on his chest. However, he was nowhere near unable to fight.

The great gorilla then galloped around Kraid. Kraid stepped around, maneuvering his large form to try and face King Kong. However, he could not keep up, as King Kong outmaneuvered him.

King Kong then leapt at Kraid from the side, landing a punch. Kraid skidded back, but overall was uninjured. Kraid let out a bellowing roar, and swiped at King Kong again. However, King Kong dodged back to avoid the claws. King Kong stamped his front limbs on the ground, roaring at Kraid.

Kraid flicks his left hand in the air, sending off a group of claws. The claws spiral through the air towards King Kong. The first one punctures King Kong's skin. He roars out in shock, but the wound does not hurt him immensely. He punches the second one, causing it to break into small shards.

Kraid begins to stomp slowly towards King Kong, flicking his hands to send off more claws. However, King Kong leaps out of the way to avoid them. He reaches for a boulder. Holding it in his hands, he tosses it at Kraid's face.

The stone strikes Kraid's third eye, and he roars in agitation., and steps back.

Kraid spews out a rock from his mouth, which King Kong smashes in air. It crumbles into dust. However, another rock does crash into King Kong, bumping him back a bit, as he skids. He picks up the same rock, and tosses it at Kraid's body. This time, the stone has no effect on Kraid, as it crumbles to bits with the slightest reaction from Kraid. The Brutal Ruler of Brinstar advances slowly towards King Kong again.

King Kong notices something. He saw that Kraid had been able to withstand all of his attacks to his body, but did seem agitated when the boulder struck his eye. He inferred that he must attack Kraid's eyes.

Kraid roared a bellowing roar, flicking his hands again. King Kong leapt aside to reach a cliff face, grabbing onto the sides. Kraid sent off another set of claws and spewed a rock from his mouth, but King Kong leapt to another vantage point on the cliff. From there, he leaps off as Kraid is turning to face him. With his fist outstretched, King Kong delivers a forceful punch to Kraid's eyes.

Kraid raised his head to the air and roared in agitation.

Kraid began to swipe his clawed hands at King Kong, advancing forward. King Kong dodged byack to avoid the swipes, remembering their threat level. However, he found the Kraid was not letting up. King Kong found that Kraid was trying to back him into the cliff walls. King Kong knew he must not let this happen.

Kraid raised his arms to attack, attempting slash. However, King Kong caught his arm in place. Kraid slashed at King Kong, leaving another bleeding scratch. However, Kong grabbed hold of Kraid's horns, and pulled himself up, simultaneously landing a punch to Kraid's eyes.

Kraid opened his jaws, growling in agitation. King Kong then pulled the lodged claw from his chest, jabbing it into Kraid's mouth.

Kraid roared out in agony as the sharp claw pierced the softer flesh of Kraid's mouth. Blood began to drip from Kraid's moth.

King Kong seized his opportunity. He grabbed onto Kraid's jaws, preparing to shatter them with his strength.

However, Kraid now realized he needed to use the weapon he had not used. He fired out spiked appendages from his belly. The appendages stabbed into Kong's chest and stomach.

King Kong roared out in agony, stumbling back, and Kraid slammed King Kong backwards with his bulk.

Kong fell onto his back, and the spiked appendages exploded, producing more injury to King Kong.

K.O.[]

(Music stops)

Witth a gaping, bloody wound in his chest, King Kong expired.

Kraid roared a bellowing roar in triumph, as an alien vessel was visible in the night sky, ready to claim this island for the Space Pirates of Zebes.

Results[]

(Cue Super Smash Bros. Ultimate- Brinstar Depths)

Boomstick: Man, that was brutal! I think this is basically what King Kong vs Godzilla would be something like if Godzilla had won.

Wiz: King Kong had the advantage in terms of speed and agility, which allowed him to easily outpace the much slower Kraid. While that initially gave Kraid trouble, once King Kong came in for close quarters combat, he could not effectively fight much. This is because Kraid had the durability advantage, since while King Kong was severely injured by machine gun fire, Kraid has been able to withstand concussive weapons and energy based attacks, such as Samus' charged beams, missiles, and super missiles.

Boomstick: Yeah, which meant Kraid was able to tank much of King Kong's attacks! But Boomstick, what about Kong's strength? Well unfortunately for Kong, Kraid's durability meant that he could tank much of what Kong throw at him, considering he's tanked high power weapons from Samus.

Wiz: Correct. Kong was also able to use his intelligence to give Kraid a run for his money, as he could analyze weaknesses of his opponents.

Boomstick: However, Kraid himself is not very dumb.

Wiz: As he is a space pirate, and a high ranking one at that. But what eventually gave Kraid the overall advantage was Kraid's range of abilities, as he had three different projectiles, he had his claws, and his durability.

Boomstick: Meanwhile, Kong mostly had his strength going for him in terms of attacks. Welp, looks like it wasn't beauty that killed the beast this time, far from it.

KraidWinner

Wiz: The winner is Kraid!

Trivia[]

  • I picked these two since they are rulers of their jungle homes, close in size, and its a classic ape vs reptile battle you see with King Kong films.
