Long before the Order was created, the lands were untamed and roamed by legendary adventurers. At this time, a competition of the card game known as Joustus occurred. At this time, King Knight sought to become the King of Cards, so he could finally become a king.
Little did everyone know, the competition was a plot by the Enchantress to recruit King Knight to join the Order. Jumping at the thought of ruling Pridemoor Keep, he abandoned his friends, and took control of Pridemoor Keep. Some time passes, and then Shovel Knight barges in to take him down. Obviously King Knight loses, because the hero always has to win. As a punishment, he has to scrub the halls of Pridemoor Keep, his former castle.
