Battle between the two anti-heroes of Dream Land.
King Dedede[]
King Dedede is the self-proclaimed king of Dream Land. He debuts in the very first Kirby game (Kirby's Dream Land) as the main antagonist, where he is seen stealing all of Dream Land's food. However, Kirby is soon able to stop him and returns all of Dream Land's food. Despite his antagonistic debut, King Dedede hasn't really shown any signs of true evil since he first debuted. In Kirby's Adventure, he split the Star Rod into pieces and passed the pieces onto his underlings so that Nightmare wouldn't be able to turn Dream Land's dreams into nightmares. In Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3, and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, King Dedede was possessed by Dark Matter, which was the reason for his evil actions. In Kirby: Squeak Squad, Kirby accused King Dedede of stealing his strawberry shortcake.
King Dedede's feats:
- Kirby's Adventure: He was able to keep up with the Warp Star, which moves faster than light.
- Kirby's Pinball Land: He is capable of summoning electric blasts with his bare hands.
- Kirby Battle Royale: His intelligence/battle intelligence is shown when he creates weapons like the Kirby Printer (a machine that can produce identical copies of Kirby himself) and the Dededestroyer Z (a machine he used to face Kirby himself).
- Kirby: Canvas Curse: He was shown to have more health and attack power than Kirby himself.
- Kirby's Return to Dream Land: He assisted Kirby, Meta Knight and Bandana Waddle Dee in fighting Crowned Magolor; who is a universal-level opponent and had limitless power.
- Kirby: Triple Deluxe: In Dededetour, he was shown being capable of defeating Queen Sectonia, Shadow Dedede and Dark Meta Knight. (While Dededetour is a non-canon mode to the main Kirby timeline, it should be noted that in an official interview, it was considered a "What if? scenario"; meaning that its events could have still happened)
- Kirby: Triple Deluxe: He was able to knock out Kirby with his own attacking strength, and Kirby has tanked planet-level explosions without taking damage.
- Kirby: Planet Robobot: He was stated to be the strongest life-form on Planet Popstar.
- Kirby Star Allies: He was able to take on Hyness; an ancient who had been banished in fear of his power. He was also able to fight Void Termina straight after, who was a god of destruction so powerful that the Ancients feared him and had to seal him away.
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land: He was able to resist Fecto Forgo's control a few times, who had brainwashed the whole of the Beast Pack. Furthermore, King Dedede was able to hold his ground against the Beast Pack members.
- Super Smash Bros.: He was able to defeat Bowser, who is a very strong villain in his respective verse.
King Dedede is also capable of inhaling like Kirby (although he can not use Copy Abilities like Kirby). His Star Spit is so powerful that it was able to shoot Kirby into space in mere seconds to catch up with Nightmare's Orb. King Dedede can also hover by inhaling air.
Meta Knight[]
Meta Knight is the famous knight of Dream Land. He debuts in Kirby's Adventure, where he is seen helping King Dedede in protecting the Star Rod pieces from Kirby, who had mistakenly thought that they had stopped the Fountain of Dreams's power on purpose. He is fought by Kirby in Orange Ocean, but loses and retreats. In Kirby Super Star, he grew fed up of Dream Land's lazy lifestyle and tried to conquer Dream Land, but ultimately lost to Kirby. In Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, he tried to save the Mirror World from Dark Mind's corruption but was overpowered by Dark Meta Knight. In Kirby: Planet Robobot, he tried to attack the Haltmann Works Company to protect Dream Land but was captured and turned into a cyborg. In almost all of his fights against Kirby, he is seen offering Kirby a sword before every fight, showing his respect in duels.
Meta Knight's feats:
- Kirby Super Star: In Revenge of Meta Knight, he was repeatedly shown to be quick-thinking when Kirby was attacking the Battleship Halberd, and most of his plans to get rid of Kirby were successful. He also assisted in designing and building the Halberd, which shows his intelligence level.
- Kirby & The Amazing Mirror: Once again shows his quick-thinking when he is the first to rush into Mirror World to protect Dream Land. Just before the Dark Mind fight, he is shown lending Kirby his Galaxia sword.
- Kirby & The Amazing Mirror: He was able to land a hit on Dark Meta Knight, which gave Dark Meta Knight a permanent scar.
- Kirby: Squeak Squad: He was able to sense that Kirby and Daroach were fighting over the wrong treasure box, which was actually containing the Ruler of the Underworld: Dark Nebula.
- Kirby Super Star Ultra & Kirby: Planet Robobot: He was shown being able to defeat Galacta Knight, who is the strongest warrior in the galaxy that the ancients feared.
- Kirby's Return to Dream Land: He assisted Kirby, King Dedede and Bandana Waddle Dee in fighting Crowned Magolor; who is a universal-level opponent and had limitless power.
- Kirby: Planet Robobot: He quickly sensed that the Haltmann Works Company were attacking Planet Popstar and rushed on the Halberd to take down the ship. He also impressed the Haltmann Works Company's secretary and the Mother Computer, who liked him so much that they turned him into a cyborg (known as Mecha Knight) to work for them. Even after Mecha Knight's defeat, they were shown giving him an upgrade, which implies their faith in Meta Knight's strength.
- Kirby Star Allies: He was able to take on Hyness; an ancient who had been banished in fear of his power. He was also able to fight Void Termina straight after, who was a god of destruction so powerful that the Ancients feared him and had to seal him away.
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land: He was able to completely resist Fecto Forgo's control, who had brainwashed the whole of the Beast Pack.
Meta Knight is shown to be an expert in swordsmanship, is very fast and agile and is capable summoning clones of himself. He is also capable of flying with his wings at high speed.
Death Battle[]
King Dedede and Meta Knight enter the arena where it will be decided who the second strongest warrior on Planet Popstar will be. Citizens from different planets came to see the epic showdown.
Meta Knight unsheathes his mighty sword: Galaxia.
Meta Knight: "Ready to lose, 'sire'?"
King Dedede brings out his large wooden hammer.
King Dedede: "You don't scare me none, Meta Knight! I will knock ya off this arena... ROYAL STYLE!"
Meta Knight chuckles and says that "they shall see".
Commentator Dee: "3... 2... 1... FIGHT!"
Meta Knight immediately flies at King Dedede with Galaxia drawn. King Dedede's hammer clashes with Meta Knight's sword. The two then engage in a close-range fight, until Meta Knight slides under King Dedede's hammer and lands a few hits on King Dedede with Galaxia, sending the great royal penguin back.
Meta Knight: "Heh, is that all the 'Mighty King Dedede' has? This fight wasn't even needed, we can all see how pathetic you are. I, Meta Knight: The Lone Swordsman and Knight of Dream Land, am the second strongest warrior of Planet Popstar!"
King Dedede gets up, irritated at Meta Knight's pride.
King Dedede: "Don't make me laugh! I was just warming up! His Royal Nemesis will make you understand... HAIL TO DEDEDE!"
Meta Knight: "Your words of confidence will not make you win this fight. I shall end this quickly."
Meta Knight charges up a mach tornado, but King Dedede was prepared for this. As soon as Meta Knight stabs the ground, a huge tornado appears rushing straight towards King Dedede. King Dedede smirks and does a Hammer Twirl, which allows him to swirl through the tornado without taking any damage. Meta Knight is shocked internally, but hides it.
Meta Knight: "Nice defensive move. I will admit that I am impressed."
King Dedede: "Heh, this all a piece of cake for me!"
Meta Knight gets annoyed at King Dedede's confidence and releases sword beams while King Dedede is off guard. King Dedede gets hit and then turns angry. He then jumps in the air and lands creating huge shockwaves, but Meta Knight manages to use "Guard" in order to minimise the damage.
Meta Knight and King Dedede then start fighting on par for a bit; both landing strong hits on each other a few times. Eventually, Meta Knight decides to get more serious in order to end the fight quickly.
Meta Knight: "I'm done with this 'boxer versus boxer' game. I want to end this now!"
King Dedede: "Don't think you'll be able to end the fight that easily! I will prove that I am the strongest warrior of Planet Popstar... after Kirbeh, of course."
Meta Knight: "Indeed, Kirby is on a whole different league from us..."
King Dedede: "You mean, a thousand leagues above us. Wait, why are we talking about Kirbeh? Stop getting distracted!"
Meta Knight: "Very well, I'll put this fight to an end."
Meta Knight summons three clones, a power which he obtained after being corrupted by the Jamba Heart in the Void Termina incident. King Dedede gasps at the sight of seeing four Meta Knights.
King Dedede: "(Uh oh. I can barely keep up with one, now there's four?!? I'm in trouble...)"
Four Meta Knights: "Farewell, 'King Dedede'!"
The four Meta Knights glide at King Dedede from all different directions. King Dedede tries to use Hammer Twirl, but the four Meta Knights outsmarted him and managed to hit him after his Hammer Twirl thanks to their superior agility. King Dedede is on the floor.
Four Meta Knights: "Given up, 'sire'? You know you can't beat us!"
King Dedede laughs quietly and pushes himself up.
King Dedede: "Yeah, I know I can't beat you... but this can!"
King Dedede pulls out a metal mask and a electric-powered hammer.
Masked Dedede: "Now let's get serious!"
Four Meta Knights: "Your death wish is coming!"
The Meta Knights unleash Sword Beams but Masked Dedede manages to hit them with his mighty strength combined with his metal hammer. Masked Dedede then releases fire from his hammer as the Meta Knights glide at him. One Meta Knight clone gets hit and Masked Dedede hits him with his electric hammer, giving the Meta Knight clone an electric shock.
Masked Dedede: "Your clones ain't got a chance against me!"
Meta Knight growls and the three Meta Knights stab the ground unleashing 3 mach tornadoes. Masked Dedede uses Hammer Twirl and the inhales one Meta Knight clone while the clone is trying to take its sword from the ground. Masked Dedede then aims a Star Spit at the other clone, but misses.
Two Meta Knights: "We won't let you win!"
One Meta Knight clone attacks Masked Dedede and while Masked Dedede is distracted, the real Meta Knight uses Upper Calibur on Masked Dedede and slashes him repetitively. Masked Dedede gets furious and throws Gordos at the Meta Knights, while the Meta Knights are busy dodging the Gordos, Masked Dedede uses Ultimate Dedede Spin and hits the Meta Knights repetitively. While the Meta Knights are recovering, Masked Dedede quickly stops getting dizzy and stomps on one of the Meta Knights, defeating the clone. Angered, Meta Knight gets up and draws Galaxia.
Meta Knight: "I won't let you win! I am the Great Meta Knight!"
Masked Dedede: "And I am the Mighty King Dedede!"
Meta Knight tries to use Upper Calibur but Masked Dedede pushes it down with this hammer using his strength. Meta Knight stabs the ground and tries to use a mach tornado while Masked Dedede jumps and charges a huge electric hit. Both attacks clash and dust conceals the two.
The dust clears, which shows Masked Dedede barely able to stand and his mask is chipped quite badly, but Meta Knight is unconscious and on the ground.
Commentator Dee: "It looks like it's an amazing victory for the Mighty King Dedede!"
The audience cheers, as King Dedede grins at the unconscious Meta Knight.
King Dedede: "Heh, it was close. But in the end, a knight always bows down to his king!"
Results[]
That was a close fight, indeed. One wrong move, and King Dedede would've been out. Meta Knight was more intelligent and agile in battle, but King Dedede's raw strength was a lot for Meta Knight. Although since King Dedede is capable of defeating Dark Meta Knight, who already defeated Meta Knight with low difficulty, it's not surprising to see why King Dedede couldn't beat Meta Knight. Overall, Meta Knight and King Dedede both scale around each other. But King Dedede won this battle with extreme difficulty thanks to his attacking power and his gadgets.
The winner is King Dedede.
