Description[]
DC vs. Ben 10! A battle between two scaly fighters, an alligator wrestler and a wrestling alligator!
Interlude[]
Wiz: Ever since their epoch hundreds of millions of years ago, crocodilians of all species have been formidable creatures, regardless of shape and size.
Boomstick: What could be even cooler and more formidable than that, in terms of shape and size? Why, two mutant crocodile men, of course!
Wiz: Killer Croc, DC's fearsome alligator wrestler.
Boomstick: And Gaterboy, Ben 10's wrestling alligator mutant.
Wiz: For this particular matchup, the incarnations of Killer Croc depicted as being an alligator wrestler or a more proper wrestler will be taken into account, as not all of them possess this background.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Killer Croc[]
Wiz: Accounts on Killer Croc's past vary from source to source, but most coincide and can agree on one thing...
Boomstick: He's always been pretty friggin' ugly.
Wiz: Er, right. Suffering from a skin disease later identified as either a mutation, regressive atavism or an unknown form of epidermolytic hyperkeratosis...
Boomstick: Don't look that up, kids.
Wiz: ...Waylon Jones hasn't had what one might call an easy life. Born without any knowledge of his parents and left to live with a dead-beat aunt and among kids who constantly bullied him for his appearance, Waylon eventually snapped into a life of violence and crime, constantly on the run and living amongst the forgotten and unwanted. He soon went to prison, but was paroled and briefly found a job in a carnival sideshow wrestling alligators, billed as "Killer Croc".
Boomstick: It was a gimmick for sure, but he was fine with that. He would also join regular underground wrestling rings and become a proper gangster, and it was here where he would hone his skills and grow even stronger and tougher than he already was thanks to this mutation. How strong or skilled, exactly? Well, "Killed a man in one punch when he was sixteen" kind of strong, and skilled enough to be respected by Wonder Woman of all warriors. He was definitely more than just simply skilled and way more than just an average joe with crocodile skin.
Wiz: Indeed, in his early days Killer Croc had the strength to break the backs of alligators, effortlessly bend metal bars, overturn trees and lift up cars without much trouble. His scaly skin helped him endure a lot of abuse from the people around him, even rifles couldn't get past his tough hide at close range.
Boomstick: Once he moved to Gotham City, this would all be quite useful for him against the city's vigilante and guardian, as Waylon aspired to become the king of the place. For a while, Croc proved to be a challenge for the Dark Knight, the toughest he'd faced up to that point in fact, but over time... things started going poorly for him again.
Wiz: See, due to the mutation or regressive atavism Waylon suffers through, his mind and body deteroriate over time. Not necessarily for worse, since he was still very deadly, but Batman was dealing with a much more feral and bestial Killer Croc now...
Boomstick: Let's just say he was a lot more cannibalistic now, with sharp teeth and claws to match. And even greener, meaner skin, why not.
Wiz: And when new villain Hush came to Gotham, Waylon was one of his next victims to experiment on. Waylon was injected with a virus that worsened his mutation, making Killer Croc even more crocodile-like than before, a whole foot taller and four hundred pounds heavier. He would also sometimes grow a tail, though this attribute was rarely used by him.
Boomstick: And here I thought he couldn't possibly get any uglier.
Wiz: Now Killer Croc boasted even greater strength, able to tear through reinforced materials like armored bank vault doors and rip them off walls, or even claw through them with his claws according to Catwoman, who has faced and studied him before.
Boomstick: He can even pull straight up fatalities, as one of his victims was left as only a head with his spinal cord attached. He'd be pretty 'killer' as a guest character for the next Mortal Kombat game!
Wiz: His durability was also greater as well. Whatever could hurt him before no longed fazed him and he could survive hits from much physically superior characters such as Supergirl who sent him flying into the sky with a punch and Osiris who draws from the same power as Shazam and Black Adam. In one instance he was also pretty much fine after getting kicked by Jimmy Olsen using Plastic Man's powers...
Boomstick: Comics sure get weird sometimes, huh?
Wiz: On top of his own durability, Killer Croc also possesses incredible pain tolerance, able to bite through and rip his own arms off without showing much if any reaction. If that wasn't enough, he developed a healing factor that allowed him to heal injuries relatively quickly, though this regeneration can backfire on him, as it can also result in him mutating into a less physically capable crocodile shape, or deforming his eyes and face.
Boomstick: Sure, the guy might be a badass, but let's not hype him up too much... he's not the capable gangster he used to be anymore.
Wiz: Right. The mutation and the virus also deteriorated Waylon's mind, making it hard for him to think or even talk, sometimes reducing him to talking in the third person or grunting and hissing like an animal. He retains his great combat skills but is much more of an animal now, but physically inferior opponents could still manage to beat him if they surpass him in skill.
Boomstick: Still, the spooky myth of the sewer gator lives on through this terrifying supervillain. Few in Gotham would dare confront Killer Croc in his own turf.
Gaterboy[]
Wiz: Born to Mr. Fang and Mrs. Fang somewhere in southern USA, Gaterboy and his brother Porcupine...
Boomstick: Presumably not their real names.
Wiz: ...made a career in pro underground wrestling, in theory earning quite a bit of money for their family's farm.
Boomstick: And good thing their father was apparently some weird mutant creature, giving Gaterboy the frightening appearance and strength of an alligator, packing a mighty enough bite force to crush chains to pieces, which came in handy for those wrestling matches.
Wiz: Gaterboy is indeed no slouch in the strength department, briefly going up against Four Arms, one of Ben 10's physically strongest alien forms, and surviving a round against him.
Boomstick: While it isn't known how long he had been wrestling for, his battle against Four Arms indicated he was fairly skilled, and he knew the basics at the bare minimum.
Wiz: Considering Four Arms was also a fairly skilled fighter, this is Gaterboy's most notable attribute aside from his strength.
Boomstick: He also had claws sharp enough to shred shower courtains like wet tissue paper. What is it with crocodile men and sharp claws? You don't usually think of sharp claws when it comes to crocodiles, you think of headphones, golden chains, bees and chameleons... You know, normal crocodile stuff.
Wiz: In spite of his strengths, Gaterboy isn't without his faults. Many of his wins require him to get extra help from his brother Porcupine, and even against a small group of people he can struggle somewhat. Given his voice and his age relative to his brother and mother, he also appears to be rather young, at least in his 20s, meaning that even with all his skill, he is lacking a bit in experience, especially on one-on-one combat.
Boomstick: Still, with skin tough enough to endure blows from mafia goons without issue, arms and jaws powerful enough to smash through concrete and rip apart chains, Gaterboy is as strong and as tough as they come, a fearsome opponent for many wrestlers who try to stand in his way to victory or threaten his family.
Pre-Death Battle[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set! We've run the data through all possibilities!
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!
Death Battle[]
In the underground wrestling arena he's associated with, Gaterboy gets ready for his next match, unaware that his next opponent is tied to the mob that once threatened his family. He makes his grand entrance to get the crowd excited, not noticing the gangsters hidden among the crowd.
He climbs onto the ring, and his opponent, covered in horrible sewer stench, does as well.
Gaterboy: "What the...?"
Gaterboy is taken aback by his opponent's appearance, who resembles him quite a bit.
The announcer presents them both, introducing this new contestant who is actually a well-renowned champion in another state.
Gaterboy: "Killer Croc, huh? Never heard of you. You clearly aren't one of those big shot baddies from Gotham."
Even with Killer Croc's deformed face, everyone could tell there was a prominent scowl on it now.
Killer Croc: "Watch your tone, boy. You're still just a kid talkin' to a legend. I broke the Bat before Bane and I freaked out that stupid clown before anyone else. I was King Croc, and you're going to know why and how."
Gaterboy: "Sure, sure."
The bell rings, initiating the battle.
Gaterboy is immediately knocked back into the ropes by the furious Croc, who was starting to lose it after Gaterboy got in his head.
Killer Croc: "I'm only here to earn some pay from these nobodies who hired me... But Croc is no one's toady! Croc is King!"
Gaterboy drops Killer Croc and puts him on a figure-four leglock, but Croc is quickly able to break free.
Gaterboy: "Dang, this is like Four Arms all over again... Bro! Tag in!"
Gaterboy searches for his brother, and he notices him hidden among the crowd, inconspicuously held hostage at gunpoint by two of the gangsters. This new control over the situation and familiar setting helps put Croc back in charge of his own brain, rather than the mindless animal he would normally turn into.
Killer Croc: "No outside help, kid. This is a one-on-one and you're not getting help from that ridiculous hedgehog freak brother of yours."
Given the situation his brother's in and the sudden insult on Croc's part, Gaterboy's surprise turns to anger, and he gives Killer Croc a potent hook that sends him out of the ring.
Gaterboy: "Watch your mouth, old man!"
Gaterboy isn't done, jumping out of the ring to body slam Croc, who recovers, sees the slam coming and kicks Gaterboy away. As Gaterboy is down, Croc grabs him by the tail and swings him around, back into the ring through a few of the ropes, breaking them and shredding part of Gaterboy's wrestling attire.
While Gaterboy is unconscious, Croc climbs up the ring and turns around in disappointment, rising his arms and showing off for the crowd.
Killer Croc: "I expected better, Gaterboy. But what else could you expect, going up against the champ?"
Gaterboy then takes this opportunity to grab Croc from behind and suplex him, lifting him up and then throwing him through the ring, down into the sewers below.
At this point, Gaterboy is extremely tired, having put the most amount of effort into a one-on-one fight. Killer Croc, however, is still more or less fine, unfortunately for Gaterboy.
Killer Croc: "Not bad, kid. But I sure hope that wasn't your best. 'cause that was kinda pathetic."
Gaterboy goes for the most feral and powerful attack he's got, smacking Croc in the face with his tail and then biting Croc on the shoulder, which causes some degree of pain for his opponent, but this pain soon turns into laughter, even as Gaterboy keeps a strong hold on that shoulder.
Killer Croc: "No, boy, THIS is how you do it!"
Killer Croc replies by biting through Gaterboy's shoulder, much more effectively and causing Gaterboy lasting pain. Gaterboy lets his opponent go as he starts bleeding out, and Croc takes the opportunity to bear hug Gaterboy, his finishing blow.
The light fades from Gaterboy's eyes as his spine is crushed. Killer Croc drags Gaterboy's corpse back to the ring above, and raises his fist, victorious. The crowd cheers him on, and he smiles as he's showered by glory, something he hasn't felt in a long time.
Results[]
Boomstick: Eh, he was so obscure it's unlikely anyone will remember him before or after this.
Wiz: While Gaterboy was a formidable opponent and definitely superior to any of the gators Waylon wrestled in the past... that was all in the past and Croc has significantly improved since then.
Boomstick: Breaking alligators' backs and bending metal bars was definitely nifty in his early days, but it doesn't at all compare to tearing vault doors off walls or straight up ripping through them.
Wiz: "But didn't Gaterboy trade blows with Four Arms?" you might ask, and while it's true that he briefly went up against Four Arms...
Boomstick: When you actually look at the fight itself, Four Arms would've won in a matter of seconds and it only lasted as long as it did due to Gaterboy's brother Porcupine jumping in to help and using his sleep/paralysis-inducing quills on Four Arms.
Wiz: Even after Four Arms was intoxicated and fairly weakened, he got up and one-shotted both Gaterboy and Porcupine at the same time with a two-armed lariat each, implying that at the end of the day, Gaterboy isn't on the same level as Four Arms. Even if we assumed that Four Arms was at best only a third or half as strong as he is normally, that would still make Croc superior thanks to his durability feats against Osiris or Supergirl, or even the explosives Batman uses to bring him down, and it wouldn't at all close the gap in experience or skill, the only advantage Gaterboy would have in that department being the more common usage of his tail as a weapon.
Boomstick: Gaterboy shredding through shower courtains and Croc tearing through steel isn't a fair comparison, so, since they're crocodiles, their bite forces are more worth talking about. That's the one crazy thing about crocs, after all.
Wiz: Gaterboy's jaws allowing him to bite through chains was certainly impressive, likely stronger than any extant crocodile and even a few extinct apex predators... but Croc's jaws could even hurt and pierce through his own skin, which has stood up to many superheroes far superior to him.
Boomstick: Even before his mutation, Waylon had jaws that made a regular crocodile's look kinda pathetic, able to destroy handcuffs specifically made for him, out of a unique stacked polycarbonate alloy he couldn't have been able to break with his own arm strength.
Wiz: And so, all Gaterboy really had to properly go off of was him breaking chains and smashing through concrete walls.
Boomstick: Things Croc could already do with relative ease in his early days, and anything he had issues with originally are no longer a problem. Heck, shortly after Hush infected him with that virus and he was sent to Arkham Asylum, Croc destroyed the cage that held him all those years before that with one punch.
Wiz: Even Gaterboy's size advantage, relative to Four Arms' height, didn't mean much, since Waylon at his most mutated is either almost the same height as him or at most has two whole feet taller.
Boomstick: And speed-wise... Well, one can catch Batman off-guard and surprise high level superhumans like Supergirl while the other gets blitzed by Four Arms of all aliens.
Wiz: In the end, Waylon's superior strength and durability, along with his skill and experience, earned him the win.
Boomstick: Killer Croc pretty much said "later, alligater" to this boy.
Wiz: The winner is Killer Croc.

Trivia[]
- The connections between Killer Croc and Gaterboy is that both are proficient wrestlers (be it public or underground wrestlers) and mutated humans with green scaly crocodile-like appearances who act as antagonists for their series' respective heroes.
- However, while Gaterboy eventually made peace with Ben, Killer Croc remains a primary and recurring villain in Batman's stories.
- As this battle only includes the incarnations of Killer Croc with a past as wrestlers/alligator wrestlers, it excludes the Rebirth incarnation (who's had this background brought up but never properly shown or expanded upon, and has a fairly different origin story overall), who was in part excluded due to being massively stronger and thus would've made this too unfair a fight.
- Even though the New 52 incarnation has that background as well, Croc here wasn't allowed to use any of that version's extra forms, like his giant mutation and hydra forms, as those require preparation and help from others.
- Among DC fans, throughout many of his appearances in the early to mid 2000s, Croc was often associated with a particular wrestling term: jobber, referring to the many times he's lost fights against technically physically inferior opponents, which is typically seen as Plot Induced Stupidity.
