Description[]
Like a Dragon VS Baki the Grappler! A battle between two of fiction's strongest Yakuza brawlers.
Introduction[]
Wiz: In the criminal underworld of Japan, there exist men of such stature and strength that hundreds of men fall to their feat in either respect or defeat.
Boomstick: Like Kazuma Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima...
Wiz: And Kaoru Hanayama, the Strongest Yakuza in Japan.
Boomstick: He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Kazuma Kiryu[]
Wiz: Across the streets of Tokyo, in the heart of the red light district of Kamurocho, crime is rampant with the Tojo Clan being the driving factor and holding a monopoly in the area.
Boomstick: And out of the thousands of criminals that work there, there's one name that every criminal on the streets have heard, mostly because he's beaten them all up, Kazuma Kiryu.
Background:
- Full Name: Kazuma Kiryu
- Height: 184 cm (6′ 0″)
- Weight: 88 kg (194 lbs)
- Age: 56
Wiz: Born and raised in the Sunflower Orphanage, Kiryu alongside his best friend Nishiki lived a normal life given to them by their orphanage's patron, Shintaro Kazama, head of the Kazama Family.
Boomstick: Good ol' crime dad gave the two boys a look into the life of organised crime and how much better they could have it if they became big-time crime dads too. So they joined Kazama's clan and rose up through the ranks over the span of a decade or two, earning themselves some sick back tattoos.
Wiz: For Kiryu, he got a mighty silver dragon. In Japanese mythology, the dragon is seen as an almighty protector of the heavens and the mortal plain.
Boomstick: Perfect for Kiryu who basically kept his hands clean from the Yakuza lifestyle.
Wiz: Kazama didn't want the two boys to criminals but he couldn't stop them from joining his crime family, so he basically tried to keep them away from the more... Messy aspects of the Yakuza lifestyle to the point that Kiryu has never actually killed anyone and, outside of a large amount of street fighting and property damage-'
Boomstick: Oh man does Kiryu hate property, especially bikes.
Wiz:- Kiryu has never actually committed any crimes that could get him in any real trouble, in fact, Kiryu tends to fight against criminals in order to maintain the peace and save the innocent.
Boomstick: You'd think that a criminal who doesn't know how to get his hands dirty would be stuck at the bottom of the food chain forever, but Kiryu learned how to make it all work out. And that's by beating the ever-loving shit out of anyone he needs to.
Wiz: Kiryu is a hardened street brawler who has had the better part of forty years to train himself up to be one of the biggest threats to anyone he gets into a fight against, especially helped by the fighting styles he's learned along the way.
Fighting Styles:
- Dragon of Dojima Style
- Brawler Style
- Rush Style
- Beast Style
Boomstick: With his Brawler Style, Kiryu fights with a rough but absurdly practical set of punches and kicks. With his Rush Style, Kiryu fights like a boxer hopped up on speed, letting him punch a dozen times a second before dodging out of harm's way. Beast Style is when Kiryu decides that it's okay if he gets beat up in exchange for a ton of muscle mass that lets him use chairs, large signs and even motorbikes as ramming weapons.
Wiz: But all that would pale to the fighting style he'd be known for, the Legendary Dragon of Dojima fight style which is a dramatic upgrade over his Brawler Style, adding a sense of refinement to his street brawling as taught to him by the martial arts instructor, Komaki.
Boomstick: And what fighting style would be complete without some killer moves like the Tiger Drop, a move where Kiryu quickly punches you in the stomach so hard that it drops you dead when you least expect it or the Komaki Parry where Kiryu parries an attack by slamming his fist and knees into the enemies face, stunning them instantly.
Wiz: All of this is already great for combat, however, Kiryu has access to a mysterious source of energy only known as Heat.
Heat:
- Gained through taunting and dealing damage.
- Increases Kiryu's stats.
- Allows Kiryu to perform stronger attacks.
- Allows Kiryu to make a dragon out of Heat to attack his foes.
- Can be exchanged for a boost of health.
- Allows Kiryu to enter Extreme Heat Mode and Dragon Spirit Mode.
Boomstick: Heat is a glowing blue aura that surrounds Kiryu, making him stronger. But what exactly is Heat?
Wiz: From my research, Heat can best be described as a physical, measurable version of adrenaline. Hence why energy drinks can increase Kiryu's Heat as well as doing well in a fight by not taking damage or by building up Kiryu's own hype by taunting.
Boomstick: Sure, let's go with that. Kiryu's Heat is really impressive with Kiryu using it to make himself so durable that someone broke his own hand by punching Kiryu's head, make himself so fast that he can disappear from sight, heal from near death and even enter higher modes like Extreme Heat or Dragon Spirit Mode.
Wiz: Both modes give Kiryu their own boosts and benefits. Dragon Spirit Mode makes Kiryu invulnerable, making all attacks bounce off of his body and letting Kiryu quickly dash around to each foe to beat them down. And with Extreme Heat Mode, Kiryu becomes a ball of destructive punches, throwing out punch after punch without stopping with each of Kiryu's combo-ending attacks getting an added boost, while this mode doesn't specialise in defence, Extreme Heat makes it impossible for Kiryu to die by standard attacks as long as it's active. The only downside to both modes is that they both drain Kiryu's Heat at a fast rate, meaning he only has around ten seconds to use these modes before he's out.
Feats:
- Defeated Goro Majima, Ryuji Goda, Masato Aizawa and Jo Amon.
- Survived an explosion that blew up the top of a skyscraper.
- Resolved a 100-men gang war by himself.
- Survived a zombie outbreak in Kamurocho.
Boomstick: Even without Heat, Kiryu's strong enough to beat sharks and bears, stop a bull by grabbing it by the horns and beat some of the biggest names in the criminal underworld like the Omi Alliance, the Tojo Clan, the Snake Flower Triad, the Tojo Clan, the Ueno Seiwa Clan, the Tojo Clan and the Tojo Clan again.
Wiz: Including Jo Amon of the Amon Clan, a clan of legendary assassins who are the greatest assassins in the entire world and wield supernatural abilities and highly advanced weapons like satellite lasers, and Goro Majima who was able to shake an entire building before breaking through the floor with a single punch, the force of which would require 0.4 tons of TNT.
Boomstick: Kiryu's fast too, he can easily move faster than the eye can track, dodge bullets from point-blank range and even beat up Masayoshi Tanimura who was able to outrun an explosion.
Wiz: And after being beaten, fighting the elusive and highly trained MIA agents and his best friend, Kiryu survived a large explosion that engulfed a room on the top level of a skyscraper.
Boomstick: If there was anything Kiryu was known for, it was having stamina for days, from beating down an office filled with Yakuza, fighting the Korean movie across town and even ending a one hundred-man gang war by himself. That's right, Kiryu fought against one hundred gangsters armed with guns and swords and won with nothing but his bare hands and that's somehow not the most insane thing he's done.
Wiz: Yes, Kiryu once fought through a golden replica of Osaka Castle, fighting through hordes of ninja and samurai before getting to the top and beating up two tigers, all while dealing with his still-healing stomach wound where he was stabbed hours prior.
Boomstick: Are we even sure this guy is human at this point?
Weaknesses:
- Heat drains fast.
- Kiryu has no resistance to blades or guns.
- Is too self-sacrificial and noble for his own good.
- Has cancer.
Wiz: While Kiryu might be a God among men, he is still human. He has shown to be practically crippled when shot or stabbed in the right places and his Heat can only carry him so far, especially when it empties when he uses Heat Moves or his enhanced modes.
Boomstick: And while being the manliest man in any room might be a huge buff, it also means that Kiryu is basically forced to fight fair and sacrifice himself for pretty anyone and everyone he thinks is innocent and worth saving.
Wiz: Kiryu's life was filled with heartbreak and loss, however, at the end of the day, much like a dragon flying through the sky, Kiryu always kept his head high and his beliefs close to his heart.
Kaoru Hanayama[]
Wiz: In a world where the strong fight and thrive, there are many methods of gaining power. There are those who train their entire lives to become strong, those who are born at their peak and those whose strength comes from a mixture of the two.
Boomstick: And twenty-year-old Kaoru Hanayama is the very definition of the word strength.
Background:
- Full Name: Kaoru Hanayama
- Height: 191 cm (6'3")
- Weight: 166 kg (366 lbs)
- Age: 20
Wiz: Born to Keizo Hanayama, Kaoru was destined to be a Yakuza about as much as he was destined to be strong.
Boomstick: When his dad was going to walk straight into a gang war that was going to get him killed, thirteen-year-old Kaoru stepped up and tried to stop his dad by grabbing his arm with enough force to pop his skin open.
Wiz: This convinced his father that the young Hanayama would be strong enough to protect his mother and take over the Yakuza clan when he would come of age.
Boomstick: And by "of age", we mean fifteen years old. Hanayama and his mother would be supported by their dad's friend Kizaki, who taught him how to become a proper Yakuza.
Wiz: When Hanayama took over his father's old Yakuza clan, he was a 6-foot tall wall of muscle who was practically unstoppable. And to mark his ascension into leadership, he was given the tattoo of the Otokodachi, or the Standing Man, an artistic depiction of a man carrying the bell that held one of Kaoru's ancestors as he was cut to pieces by assassins who wanted to kill the Hanayama.
Boomstick: But the tattoo wasn't complete, so Hanayama went into a rival Yakuza family's headquarters and beat them all up so he could get cut up, giving the Standing Man the scars Hanayama wanted.
Fighting Style: Street Fighting:
- Focused on large heavy-hitting attacks.
- Includes grapples with Hanayama's immense grip strength.
- Hanayama doesn't block and has a high pain tolerance.
Wiz: Hanyama was able to do so with his street fighting style. Unlike most characters in the Grappler Baki series, Hanayama doesn't fight with a typical martial arts style like Karate or MMA, he uses his own version of basic street fighting.
Boomstick: Rather than using skills, Hanayama just hits you, really, really, really hard.
Wiz: More specifically, Hanayama uses his sheer muscle mass to deliver superhuman punches, amplified by his already insane grip strength.
Boomstick: Each of Hanayama's fingers are so strong that they can crush and bend coins, tear an entire deck of cards with a poke of his finger, crush a man's skull and put enough force onto a broken glass bottle to force it back together with a level of force that's compared to the pressure of the deep ocean.
Wiz: The only real downside to this style of fighting is that Hanayama doesn't block or dodge attacks, instead choosing to take every one of his opponent's attacks head-on, even if they're wielding weapons like swords or guns.
Boomstick: Despite how it sounds, Hanayama isn't a mindless brute, he's just so strong that he basically chooses not to make or learn a martial arts style, especially since he does have a few strong techniques.
Techniques:
- Yakuza Punch
- Vice Grip
- Iron Claw
Wiz: Headbutts, Rolling Kicks, Feints and even Pinches amplified by Hanayaman's superhuman grip. Aside from these, Hanayama has a few techniques that take full advantage of his physique.
Boomstick: His bluntly named Yakuza Punch is a punch where Hanayama acts like a baseball pitcher and throws a massive haymaker so hard that he launches people across the street or destroys any concrete walls in his way.
Wiz: While this may seem ludicrous, and it is, but the way this works is by using kinetic energy which is the weight of Hanayama's arm multiplied by the speed of Hanayama and multiplied again by how hard Hanayama tightens his grip so his fist becomes tighter, turning Hanayama's fist into a wrecking ball that destroys everything in his path. And this isn't even Hanayama's deadliest move.
Boomstick: That would be his Vice Grip where Hanayama grabs onto someone's arm or leg so tight that the gap between his hands pops like a balloon, exposing their bones and would cripple pretty much anyone, well aside from the freaks of nature in the Baki series.
Wiz: Hanayama also has an Iron Claw where he grabs onto an opponent's skull, clutching down on their skull in an attempt to crush it and kill his opponent.
Feats:
- Defeated Spec, T-Rex and almost defeated Miyamoto.
- Killed a great white shark with his bare hands.
- Defeated 50 Yakuza thugs in 30 minutes.
- Gave Yujiro Hanma a nosebleed.
Boomstick: Hanayama is a total beast in a fight, being able to beat down fifty Yakuza thugs in thirty minutes, kill a great white shark with his bare hands by reaching into its flesh and crushing its brain and punching down anything from walls, to prison bars to even a giant metal door just to get out of prison.
Wiz: One of Hanayama's biggest strengths is his sheer endurance and inhuman pain tolerance. He's had his cheeks blown open from bullets exploding in his mouth by the escaped convict Spec who had previously beaten Hanayama with a rock, shot in the legs and his signature Apnea Rush, a volley of punches so powerful they almost cracked the Statue of Liberty open, and Hanayama was still left standing and won the battle with a mighty punch.
Boomstick: It gets even more absurd, once Hanayama was shot in the chest and head with a big boy sniper rifle and after the operation, the doctors said that he'd be disabled for life, only to find out that Hanayama had already got changed and was on his way to beat the ass of the guys who shot him. This might sound crazy, but considering Hanayama once got shot to hell by a drive-by and responded by chasing after the car, on foot and actually managed to catch them, yeah, I'd say it fits.
Wiz: But possibly his greatest feat of all was delivering a punch to Yujiro Hanma so hard that it gave him a nosebleed. This might not sound impressive, but this is Yujiro Hanma, the strongest being to ever live who is so strong that even the US President wasn't sure a nuclear bomb would kill him and who had managed to stop a large earthquake with a single punch. Yujiro even complimented Hanayama, saying that just like him, he was born to be strong.
Boomstick: That's because unlike everyone else, Yujiro knew just how hard Hanayama had actually been training to not only keep his muscles but also to make sure he'd win any fight he could. He trained so much that he was even able to see Yujiro move and he can casually dodge bolts of lightning.
Wiz: In a world with insane humans so strong that entire countries are scared of them, Hanayama had to train in order to keep up, otherwise he'd fall behind, something that would betray what Hanayama stood for.
Weaknesses:
- Will never block.
- Has an incredibly straightforward fighting style.
- Can still be killed in the same ways that a normal human can.
Boomstick: While Hanayama is so strong that he barely counts as a human, he still is one. He can still die by bloodloss or his organs or brains being destroyed.
Wiz: Hanayama also has an incredibly simple fighting style that a faster and more technically proficient fighter can take advantage of. There's also the fact that Hanayama, will, not, block. Ever, even if his life is at stake.
Boomstick: Hey, you only need to block if you're losing and Kaoru Hanayama will never lose.
Pre-Fight[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLEEEEE!!!
Fight[]
The scene opens in an empty bar with only one patron. Kiryu is drinking alone from a glass.
Soon, a group of men burst, armed with handguns rushed into the bar before surrounding Kiryu while pointing their weapons at him. Kiryu remains sitting without even bothering to face them.
Kiryu: "Do you really think you can kill me?"
Kiryu speaks after taking a sip of his drink. All around him, the cocking of guns can be heard. Kiryu is still unfazed.
Assassin: "Heh, you really think you can take us all down?"
One of the assassins said with a smirk as he pointed his gun at the back of Kiryu's head.
Kiryu: "I don't have to, I think he won't let that happen."
As Kiryu said this, a massive hand grabbed down on the assassin's hand, crushing it and his gun with ease. The assassin looks up and sees Hanayama towering above him.
The camera cuts to Kiryu drinking, from off-screen, screams from the assassins and loud impacts can be heard. After Kiryu is finished with his drink, he stands up and sees the bar littered with the unconscious bodies of assassins with all of them bleeding and having broken bones.
Kiryu: "I can tell you want something from me, I guess I owe you one."
Instead of answering Kiryu, Hanayama motions his head towards the open door of the bar. Outside there's a black car with one of its back doors open for Kiryu.
Hanayama: "Follow me."
Hanayama walks out of the bar with Kiryu following behind him. Both of them get into the back of the car which drives off.
The scene then cuts to the underground coliseum under the Tokyo Dome. Kiryu and Hanayama walk out onto the dirt-filled battleground in the centre of the empty seats.
Hanayama was casually drinking from his flask as Kiryu walked behind him. When Hanayama stopped walking and finished drinking, Kiryu also stopped.
Hanayama: "I want to fight the Legendary Dragon of Dojima."
Hanayama spoke up as he turned to face Kiryu before casually throwing his flask aside which flew into the seating area.
Kiryu: "Is it so you can kill me and give your clan more prestige?"
Kiryu asked, keeping his hands by his side.
Hanayama: "Nothing like that, I want to be the strongest. I can't say I'm the strongest Yakuza if I ignore a legend like you."
Hanayama said as he continued to stand there, waiting for Kiryu's answer.
Kiryu: "Heh, you really are something. Reminds me of another dragon I fought."
Kiryu smirked a little as he stepped towards the centre of the fighting arena. Kiryu then grabbed onto the shoulder of his jacket before tossing his jacket and shirt off with a single movement of his arm, leaving Kiryu shirtless and revealing his Dragon back tattoo.
Hanayama responded by reaching down to the bottom of his legs and ripping them off, slowly making his way up to his waist before ripping his shirt off, leaving Hanayama wearing nothing but a fundoshi, revealing both his Otokodachi back tattoo and the scars that cover his entire body.
Now that the two were ready, Kiryu and Hanayama got into their fighting stance. Hanayama raised his fists to level with his head and Kiryu raised his up to his chest.
Kiryu: "Come on!"
Kiryu ran towards Hanayama, closing the distance between them before throwing a punch at Hanayama's chest. Hanayama responded by throwing a punch at Kiryu's fist, both of them clashing.
Karou Hanayama: Leader of the Hanayama Group!
Fight!
Both Kiryu and Hanayama's fists pushed against each other until Kiryu's arm began to weaken, allowing Hanayama to bat Kiryu's hand aside and went to deliver a heavy haymaker to Kiryu's face.
Kiryu raised both of his arms up to block it with the punch colliding against Kiryu's arms, pushing him back as Kiryu maintained his guard, his feet slid across the dirt floor, leaving a trail behind.
Once Kiryu had stopped sliding, Kiryu changed his stance to his Beast Style, intending to meet Hanayama pound for pound. Kiryu slowly hulked his way over to Hanayama who stayed still, his arms raised up in his stance, waiting to take Kiryu's move head-on. Once Kiryu was within striking distance, Kiryu delivered multiple haymakers with his arms, a yellow aura trailing behind the wild swinging of his arms.
Hanayama's body stood still, taking all of the impacts from the punches with stride. Each of Kiryu's swings was building up Heat which Hanayama could see from the ever-increasing size of Kiryu's yellow aura. Once his Heat was filled, Kiryu used a Heat move.
He grabbed onto both of Hanayama's with one hand each and tried to yank down with the intention of dislocating his arms from his shoulders, however, when Kiryu yanked down, Hanayama's arms only moved a little down, not even coming close to dislocation.
Hanayama moved his arms up, shaking off Kiryu's grip before grabbing onto Kiryu's wrists in a similar manner. When Hanayama clenched his hands, to Kiryu it felt like his wrists were being crushed by a steel vice. Kiryu tried to pull his hands free but was unable to, so Kiryu started to kick at Hanayama with his free legs, aiming for his stomach.
While this was the most effective area for Kiryu to kick, it was dealing no damage. At this point, Hanayama yanked down on Kiryu's left arm, causing an intense amount of pain to spread through his arm. Now that one of his arms was free, Hanayama went to perform his Iron Claw and grip onto Kiryu's skull.
Seeing the attack coming, Kiryu ducked out of the way of Hanayama's giant hand and quickly delivered a Tiger Drop straight to Hanayama's stomach, knocking him back and freeing himself of Hanayama's immense grip.
Kiryu: I can't let him grab me again.
Kiryu thought to himself as he changed stances to his Rush Style, putting his arms up into a boxer-like stance. Kiryu ran towards Hanayama and delivered a flurry of punches, none of which were dealing notable damage to him.
Hanayama then reeled back his body into a baseball pitcher-like stance before throwing a punch with the same force that a pitcher throws a ball. Kiryu saw the punch coming and quickly stepped to the right, watching as the punch flew past him as the sound of the air ripping apart next to him practically blew his ears out.
Kiryu charged up Heat in his leg and delivered a powerful kick to Hanayama's side, making him stumble slightly. Kiryu then delivered a powerful straight punch at Hanayama's side to push his advantage, however, it only pushed Hanayama back some more. Hanayama took a step back to build up momentum for his next big punch.
Hanayama's giant haymaker collided straight with Kiryu's chest, launching him backwards. Kiryu was put into a daze from a mixture of pain and disorientation, this gave Hanayama a chance to land a second massive punch with him reeling back and throwing out his signature Yakuza Punch, hitting Kiryu straight in his chest again and launching him into the wooden barricade of the arena like a cannonball, breaking the wooden boards apart.
Kiryu's body stayed there for a moment before he struggled to his feet, blood coming from a chest wound caused by the two massive punches Kiryu took back to back. Despite the pain, Kiryu got back up and this time, he activated his Extreme Heat Mode, causing Kiryu's body to glow with a blue aura.
Kiryu ran towards Hanayama before delivering a dropkick straight to Hanayama's jaw, it alone wasn't enough to knock Hanayama down, however, it staggered him. Kiryu capitalised on this by grabbing Hanayama by his hair and pulling his head down to chest level before Kiryu would repeatedly knee Hanayama's face, after a few knees to his face, a blood stain would appear on the knee of Kiryu's pants which would grow in size as Kiryu continued his assault.
After enough knees, Kiryu would throw Hanayama's head up before delivering a powerful right hook, knocking him to the ground. Now on the floor, Kiryu made sure to finish off his combo by stomping on Hanayama's face with his boot. While Kiryu was sure that Hanayama had taken a significant amount of damage from the attacks, he knew he wasn't unconscious yet.
Before Kiryu could do another attack, Hanayama would lift one of his arms up and grab Kiryu's leg before casually tossing him aside, forcing Kiryu into a roll before standing back up, giving Hanayama the distance and time to stand.
Once Hanayama was back on his feet, he turned his head before spitting out a bloody tooth. While he had a nosebleed and some of the scars on his face had reopened, it was clear that Hanayama hadn't taken that much damage from Kiryu's assault.
Hanayama: "You're going to need to hit me harder than that, sir."
Hanayama bluntly said, the only reaction to any of his wounds reopening being to blink when the occasional drop of blood nearly went into his eyes.
Kiryu: "You've got guts, maybe even too much guts, you haven't even tried blocking."
Kiryu said, the blood slowly pouring from his chest wound.
Hanayama: "If I blocked, then I'd be losing out on the true experience of fighting you."
After saying this, Hanayama took up his stance again, leaving his entire body open for attacks. Kiryu knew that Hanayama was monstrous and decided to go full force as if his life depended on it, switching to his signature Dragon of Dojima fighting style.
Now in his best fighting style, Kiryu ran up and started to punch at Hanayama's body, Kiryu knew he couldn't beat him in a pure battle of power.
Kiryu: But if I can wear him down, I can win.
Hanayama's attacks were fast and strong but had no style behind them. Kiryu had been through more than enough fights to know how to counter Hanayama's sloppy and unrefined fighting style.
As Kiryu landed punch after punch on Hanayama's body where small bruises started to form, he saw Hanayama reel back his body again, going for another powerful Yakuza Punch.
As the punch was launched at Kiryu, he dodged backwards, intending to get out of Hanayama's range. Hanayama's punch came out fast, however, it only had the range of his arm, Kiryu prepared for this and when Hanayama's arm was fully extended and still barely missed him, Kiryu grabbed onto Hanayama's wrist and delivered a powerful elbow to his face, causing more blood to come out of his mouth.
Hanayama's head was knocked backwards, however, it wasn't enough to stop Hanayama for long. This time when Hanayama did his Yakuza Punch, he let the momentum carry of his punch carry him further with Kiryu's dodge not taking him far enough. Kiryu saw the muscular fist heading towards him, he activated his Dragon Spirit.
When the punch connected, Kiryu's aura made the punch bounce off of it. Capitalising on the limited time given to him, Kiryu dashed at Hanayama and started to rapidly punch his upper torso and head, intending to make Hanayama lose more and more blood from his wounds until he couldn't take it.
Hanayama tried to land another punch but it bounced off again as more and more punches hit him. After noticing that his attacks were doing nothing and Kiryu's immense aura, Hanayama took his stance again, raising his arms up and letting Kiryu beat on him until he could get his chance.
He repeatedly gets hit over and over again, and more and more scars start to open as fairly large bruises form on his head and chest with Hanayama even getting a black eye. After a few seconds of the assault, Hanayama noticed Kiryu's aura go away as he tried to dodge backwards.
Hanayma, seeing this, quickly pulled onto Kiryu's right arm and wouldn't let of. Now that Kiryu's arm was in Hanayama's grip, Hanayama grabbed onto it with his other arm, leaving a gap between his hands before squeezing as hard as he could.
This caused Kiryu's flesh to begin to swell in between Hanayama's two fists, like an over-inflated balloon, all of the blood in Kiryu's arm was being squeezed into that specific part of his arm and combined with the pressure caused the swelling flesh to pop, exposing Kiryu's raw muscle tissue and bone.
Kiryu: "Ghhhh!"
This was a pain that Kiryu had never dealt with before, he had been beaten, stabbed, shot and even tortured, however, having a part of his arm pop was something unbearable, even for him.
Kiryu didn't want to give up yet though. Kiryu braced as hard as he could before he threw out a punch with his left arm. At the same time, Hanayama used his Yakuza Punch, and once again both of their fists clashed once more. When they did, Kiryu's hand was annihilated by the raw strength and mass of Hanayama's punch, his fingers breaking and snapping instantly.
Hanayama's punch continued, pushing past Kiryu's still rigger arm and landing square on Kiryu's face. The moment the fist impacted Kiryu's face, a large amount of blood sprayed along Hanayama's arm before the momentum of the punch launched Kiryu's limp body away, slamming him against the wood barrier of the arena.
Hanayama walked up to Kiryu's limp body.
Hanayama: "Thanks for the fight, sir."
Hanayama said as he bowed his head to Kiryu's body before turning around and walking out of the arena.
Results[]
K.O.
Hanayama is seen walking away as the staff at the arena carry Kiryu's body away.
Boomstick: Man, Japanese crime has a lot more violent fist fights than I thought.
Wiz: This seemingly simple fist fight was actually a lot more complex than one would first think, especially due to both combatants having fairly similar abilities.
Boomstick: Hanayama's street fighting was nothing next to Kiryu's Dragon of Dojima fighting style which was mastered over the span of forty years, however, Hanayama's fought against and even beaten people who are more technically better fighters so it wasn't a disadvantage
Wiz: Despite this being Kiryu's biggest advantage, it really doesn't matter.
Boomstick: Because Kiryu kinda loses in every other aspect. He is so much slower and weaker.
Wiz: While Hanayama isn't known for being fast, the fact that he could react to Yujiro Hanma who could dodge bolts of lightning makes him two hundred times faster than Kiryu scaling to Tanimura who could outrun an explosion.
Boomstick: And Yujiro being able to stop an earthquake and survive a nuke means that Hanayama being able to even hurt him makes over one hundred times stronger than Kiryu beating up Majima.
Wiz: And while Kiryu's Heat gave him more options and even the ability to negate damage, however, Heat is a resource that Kiryu has to earn and using Heat Moves or either of his Extreme Heat or Dragon Spirit modes would drain it and Kiryu would struggle to get it back.
Boomstick: So the only thing left is comparing the two's stamina which they were fairly even in with both being able to beat up a hundred guys without breaking a sweat.
Wiz: What does separate the two is their pain tolerance. While Kiryu had gone through a lot and kept fighting, it's clear that a gunshot or knife wound in the right place would cripple him, meanwhile, Hanayama has kept fighting after being gunned down and given injuries that would give normal people life-long disabilities. This difference meant that if Hanayama used his Vice Grip once on Kiryu, the fight would be instantly over.
Boomstick: And that's kinda the whole reason Hanayama wins, Kiryu, despite all of the crazy shit he's been through, is still mostly a normal human but Hanayama has trained his body to just be better than anything a normal human naturally is.
Wiz: Hanayama might not be the biggest fish in the ocean but he's a lot bigger than Kiryu whose the biggest fish in a small pond. Kiryu was simply outmatched in terms of strength and longevity, meaning he would eventually go down to one of Hanayama's strong punches.'
Boomstick: While Kiryu fought Like a Dragon, in the end, Hanayama was the only one left Standing.
Wiz: The winner is Kaoru Hanayama.
Winner: Kaoru Hanayama:
- + Far stronger
- + Far faster

Trivia[]
Connections:
- Both Kiryu and Hanayama are legendary Yakuza known for being monsters in unarmed combat and can defeat entire hordes of thugs.
- Both are known for fighting in underground battle arenas.
- Both are known for their back tattoo which they see as representing their own personality and beliefs.
Original Track[]
The track for this fight would be called "Dragon's Standing Tall". The name is based on Kiryu's back tattoo being a Dragon and Hanayama's back tattoo being an Otokodachi/Standing Man.
Q&A[]
Is it fair to scale Yujiro's durability to nuclear bombs when it's only from statements?
- It's a fairly consistent statement and the earthquake feats across the series make even slightly scaling to Yujiro far stronger than most of the feats in the Like a Dragon series.
Why wasn't the highest feats used for both?
- This was written before Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth which made the RPG combat more likely to be canonical and since the RPG combat gives Kiryu scaling far higher than he does normally, it would only be fair to scale Hanayama to the more accepted feats in the franchise then the strongest ones.
Would you want to see these characters fight in an actual crossover?
- Absolutely.
How likely do you think this will become an actual Death Battle?
- Considering Kiryu has a far more popular match-up, it's not very likely.
