Kamek vs Taranza is a What-If Death Battle made by InfinitePossibilitiesKirbySonicFan
Description[]
Mario vs Kirby! Which smart magician with a soft spot in their heart will come out on top?
Rules[]
- Paper Kamek and Dark Taranza are not included
- After thinking about it for a while, Woolly World and Crafted World feats won't be used.
Interlude[]
Wiz: Magic can be used for many things. The possibilities are nearly infinite.
Boomstick: And these two are experts for enhancing others and themselves!
Wiz: Kamek. Leader of the Magikoopas and right hand to Bowser.
Boomstick: And Taranza, the Puppeteer mage and former best friend of Queen Sectonia.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
Kamek[]
Wiz: The mushroom kingdom is home to many, many creatures that fight against everyones favourite plumber duo. You can get from the standard Koopas up to Bowser himself.
Boomsick: But they all do have one thing in common. Given the time and willingness of them, they get enhanced by the mightiest magician in their ranks. The old and wise Magikoopa named Kamek.
(Kamek's Theme- Yoshi's Island)
Wiz: Kamek is among the oldest in Bowser's army, even raising him when he was just a baby. At these times, Kamek was the primary force for going through with whatever Baby Bowser had in mind. Primarily taking babys captive in search of the Star Children and other reasons.
Boomstick: Unfortunately for them, there was always a colony of Yoshis nearby to stop their schemes, though Kamek definitely tried to take them down with his most famous trick, making things grow bigger than even my Ex-wife and that's certainly impressive!
Wiz: Uhh, what Kamek actually does is enhance others in sice and skill making them better equipped to fight against the Yoshis or later the Mario Bros. While it is relatively unknown how much Kamek can grow others, he does state a 10 times multiplier in Bowser Jr's Journey.
Note: This dialouge implies that Kamek's powers have decreased since his younger days, as he did increase Baby Bowser's size by notably more than just 10 times
Boomstick: Regardless of how much he increases their sice, Kamek also gives them new abilities and skills like giving wings to fly or a new attack.
Wiz: But Kamek has more skills than just enhancing others. He can teleport, transform objects into enemies with his magic blasts, and summon various enemies, most commonly Bullet Bills for additional firepower and Dry Bones for more durable helpers.
Boomstick: There are also the three copies of himself that he can make, all of them are focused on different attributes, speed, healing and my favourite, attacking.
Wiz: But these clones can't work without their creator. Knock down Kamek and they will disappear without a second notice.
Boomstick: Wait! Why do his magic tricks have the Playstation controller symbols?! He's a Nintendo character!
Wiz: Well that's, awkward, but it doesn't matter for this. Much more important however is that Kamek, like Bowser, never gives up and always assists his King and Prince regardless of how the situation looks. Like when he was the only one left to consult Bowser Jr after he lost most of his minions to the hands of BFF and was his closest ally in defeating them. He even has motherly feelings towards the young prince.
Boomstick: Ahhhhhh, who knew that this seemingly completely evil magician can be so nice at times. Makes one almost forget how he tried to kidnap BABYS multiple times. Who in their right mind does that?
Wiz: A evil genius of course. Kamek is an expert in tricking his enemies and bring them right into a trap. Additionally he can see through the plans of others with only slight difficulties. He impersonated Princess Peach to launch a suprise attack on Mario and Luigi, had immediant worries about BFF's true plans, and doubted Fawfuls poisened mushroom which he tried gifting to Bowser, unfortunately the latter wouldn't stop even though Kamek expressed his concerns.
Boomstick: Yeah despite his talents, Kamek is often not taken very serious by his higher ups, often resulting in their downfall, but thankfully in a Death Battle he won't be bothered by it.
Wiz: But even if he is given the liability for others failures, Kamek will never stop aiding the Koopa Troop, regardless of what obstacles lie before them.
Kamek: "Ka ha ha ha! So you came all the way here to be destroyed?!"
Taranza[]
Wiz: It could have been a normal day for Kirby. Eating, fishing, flying, sleeping, just everything that spawns joy in Kirby's heart
Boomstick: But then in the middle of the night, a huge Flower grew beneath his house and raised it alongside with King Dedede's castle into the sky.
Wiz: Alarmed by the possibility of it having something to do with Dedede, Kirby headed for the castle, but at the same time, someome else flew into the King's domain, capturing him with little effort and fleeing higher up the mysterious flower.
Boomstick: This person was a Spider-like magician with tremendous magical abilities, the Master of Puppetry, Taranza.
Wiz: Taranza is an expert in modifying objects and Lifeforms, like growing a regular Flower into a Tree with the ability to enlarge its roots and jump around, or bringing statues and paintings to life.
Boomstick: Not to forget that when he got cornered he took control of King Dedede like a Puppeteer, giving him new abilities in the process. But after that failed too Taranza got blasted by Queen Sectonia, the person he was working for and his former Friend.
Wiz: Queen Sectonia was a formerly kind person, corrupted by the Dimensional Mirror, an artifact connecting to the Mirror World, a parallel dimension to the normal one, which was stolen by Taranza. She changed her form and now yearned for eternal beauty.
Note: While Taranza was bewitched by Sectonia until he got blasted, there is no indication of her granting him any new powers, as evidenced by Taranza's later appearances being able to perform similar things.
Boomstick: So she became evil because she stared into a mirror? What's that for a reason? Long story short, Floralia's citizens, the people of the Sky, planted the Dreamstalk to call upon the hero of the lower world, Kirby! But Taranza figured out their plan and kidnapped King Dedede, who he believed was the Hero of Dream Land. Things played out and Sectonia fused herself with the Dreamstalk because why not? In this form she was even able to capture Kirby, until Taranza came back now aiding Kirby and the King in defeating the mad Queen, which they did!
Wiz: Although he knew that this was the right thing to do, killing the person he loved left a hole in his heart which lead to him wishing for her to return by any means. So, hoping for his wish to come true, he later joined Kirby's Star Allies in the fight against the cult on the Jambastion, in which he proved a powerful ally with his other magic.
Boomstick: Yeah! He can create multiple crystal projectiles, summon a smaller version of the Dreamstalk, throw energy spheres of varying sizes, use his shield barrier for a giant explosion, use his nets for either carrying, catching or teleporting and even summon a phantom of Queen Sectonia, somehow.
Wiz: With nothing to lose or fear, this tiny arachnid looking magicain will never give up his hope for a true miracle.
Taranza: "To think that you've made it this far. Aren't you a persistent little thing?"
Intermission[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all!
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
Pre-Fight[]
(Kirby Triple Deluxe - World Map)
Floralia, nighttime. Kamek is seen flying towards the blooming Dreamstalk, inspecting some Hypernova fruits on the way.
Kamek: These plants seem to have similar powers to the poisonous mushroom that weasel gave to Lord Bowser, but to an even larger degree and without actually being poisonous. Quite excellent power sources. Kee hee hee!
He raises his scepter and performs a shrinking spell on the Dreamstalk, causing it to shrink. Kamek attempts to grab it but the plant is enveloped in a pink net ball, which is revealed to have been made by Taranza.
(Kamek Showdown - Mario Party 10)
Taranza: What do you think you're doing with the last remains of her majesty, Queen Sectonia?
Kamek: That's none of your business you overgrown insect! Hand over that Flower, NOW!
Taranza: It would take a miracle for that to happen.
Both raise their hands ready to perform spells.
FIGHT!
Fight[]
Both release multiple waves of their basic attacks, with Taranza's projectiles being transformed into basic Mario enemies. Kamek afterwards summons multiple Dry Bones and Bullet Bills.
Kamek: Minions! Attack! For Lord Bowser!
Taranza: Interesting. Well, I've got a few friends of my own.
Taranza shoots an energy ball into a nearby Flower, from which Flowery Woods emerges shortly after. Flowery then jumps in front of Taranza and begins clashing with the summoned Minions through impaling them with its roots and blowing some Bullet Bills out of the air while the Minions attack it with their projectiles, mostly Dry Bones bones and Bullet Bills. Meanwhile, Kamek prepares a sneak attack on Taranza, who is shooting some of his magic balls at the summoned Minions.
Kamek: Suprise, hee hee hee!
Before Taranza can react, he is caught inbetween Kamek's projectiles, getting flung around by them before breaking out with a magic burst.
Taranza: Gah! I need some help.
Taranza conjures another energy ball and launches it towards Flowery Woods, which was getting overwhelmed by Kamek's minions. It goes inside of Flowery and overflows its body, transforming it into Flowery Woods DX.
(Revenge of the Puppet Master - Team Kirby Clash Deluxe)
Flowery Woods DX unleashes its new spiky roots to attack Kamek while letting Gordos rain upon the minions. He dodges them but is hit by a large magic ball, knocking him of the Broom.
Kamek: EEEEK. Let's see if your pitiful tree can handle this!
Hovering above the remaining Dry Bones swinging his scepter ingulfing them in his magic. The ground begins to shake as the Dry Bones rise, all of them towering over Taranza and Flowery Woods DX.
Kamek: Now my Mega Dry Bones, crush them!
The Mega Dry Bones circle around their foes and at the same time use their bones to attack. Taranza creates a shield around himself, protecting him from the blows, but Flowery Woods DX's roots are ripped out and it is sent flying into the air, where Kamek waits already prepared.
Kamek: Goodbye!
With his staff charged, he blasts Flowery Woods DX back onto the ground, killing it in the process with the caused shockwave making the Mega Dry Bones nearly fall over. Suddenly, they are engulfed in a purple sphere that collapses on them shortly after, causing them to stop attacking.
Kamek: What are you doing you idiots? Keep attacking until you're sure he's gone!
Taranza flies above the Mega Dry Bones with a grin, as Kamek notices that they now have strings on them.
Taranza: Since you're so eager to command these "minions" of yours, you shall have them. But be warned, they might feel a lot more hostile towards you.
After a small hand gesture from Taranza, the Mega Dry Bones immediatly start attacking their former master, but Kamek can evade most of their strikes and teleports to a safer space, where he summons his clones for aid.
Kamek: I've got enough of your games Spider boy, so let's see if you can handle this!
The Kamek clones engage the puppeteered Mega Dry Bones, using giant magic Formations to keep them at a distance. Kamek meanwhile directly confronts the puppeteer, leading to another exchange of their offensive magic. Taranza takes notice of how Kamek uses his Scepter, and snatches it with a net, leaving Kamek rather shocked.
Taranza: Heh, your magic isn't entirily natural, right? And your scepter was rather easy to snatch, hehe.
Kamek: What?! Do not think this is over!
Taranza: You're right, but it soon wil- GAH!
Taranza is unexpectidly ambushed by Kamek's clones, who destroyed his mind controlled Dry Bones, causing him to drop the scepter, which Kamek promptly catches again.
Kamek: Yes, for YOU!
Being surrounded by the clones Taranza is unable to flee while Kamek charges a giant Magic Ball, which he releases shortly afterwards. Taranza hides himself inside of a shield, but is pushed to the ground through the attacks overwhelming power. Making contact with the ground however causes the shield to break, leaving him to be obliterated by the attack.
Taranza: WH--WHYYYY!!
Launched from where the Magic obliterated his foe, the minimized Dreamstalk falls into Kamek's hands, who begins to cackle in his typical manner.
KO!
Kamek is seen heading towards Bowser's Castle with his aquired posession, while a lonely flower is seen gliding towards where Taranza was obliterated.
Results[]
(Kamek Appears - Super Mario Party)
Boomstick: Woah, remind me to never forget your clones Wiz.
Wiz: Don't worry, they aren't hostile towards you, probably. Well anyway this battle was far from one sided woth both combatants holding plenty of slight advantages.
Boomstick: Yeah! While Kamek had more experience in theory, neither of them ever fought another magician quite on their level, let alone someone with similar techniques, so really, experience was a non-factor.
Note: Both Kamek and Taranza have faced off against other magicians, but these had vastly different arsenals of magic and were battled with aid, making it unreliable to compare them to these.
Wiz: Kamek held a decent durability advantage for taking hits from Mega Bowser very consistently, but Taranza has survived multiple fights with Kirby and survived getting Blasted by Queen Sectonia, so he was no slouch either.
Boomstick: As for speed, Taranza can keep up with four Kirbys at once and even ambush them, yet Kamek isn't far behind with ambushing Mario, as well as having admirable speed on his broom.
Wiz: Strength was harder to get, as both rarely use their magic to cause enviromental destruction. Their magic arsenals however, are also pretty much back to back. Both could create and enhance their minions to a ridicolous degree, both had many projectiles to throw out. They even both had very similar "ultimate attacks", but Kamek had an edge in versatility, given that he could also enhance himself.
Boomstick: Their intelligence was also pretty similar. They both have seen through the plans of others and are frequently described as smart, making it very unlikely that one could crushingly outsmart the other. Kamek has portrayed such intelligence more often though. And for other technicalities, Taranza could have ended the battle at once by either befriending Kamek or bringing him under his control, but these are pretty situational.
Wiz: And while losing his scepter would leave Kamek quite defenseless, he'd more often than not have summoned enough minions to distract Taranza long enough to get it back.
Note: While Kamek hasn't really shown much without his scepter in his main form, he would likely keep his basic magic like teleportation and telekenesis, as those don't require scepter movement when used by ordinary Magikoopas.
Wiz: But all things considered, Kamek had just enough advantages, as small as they might be, to justify a win in his favour.
Boomstick: Taranza just couldn't trap this one in his web of dreams, now forever broken.
Wiz: The Winner is Kamek!

Trivia[]
- The connections between Kamek and Taranza are:
- Both are/were very loyal servants to their rulers (Boswer/Sectonia), which they had known for a long time.
- They kidnapped the "player 2" character (Luigi/Dedede)
- They are often disregarded or hurt by their rulers (After Sectonia's corruption)
- They use their magic to enhance others (Most of Bowser's army/Most bosses in Kirby: Triple Deluxe)
- While they both prefer letting others fight for them, they do occasionally fight on their own.
- Probably some more I'm currently missing...
Score[]
The score title from my version references both of them enhance others, Taranza's title, "Master of Puppetry", and Kamek's habit of playing tricks with opponents he faced multiple times.
