Kai Leng is the main protagonist in the novels Mass Effect: Retribution and Mass Effect: Deception and a major antagonist in the video game Mass Effect 3.

History[]
Little is known about Kai Leng’s early life, until he joined the Alliance Military at the age of 16. He specialized in patrol and reconnaissance, and served well until he killed a krogan (a large, reptilian biped) while off-duty. Leng was subsequently dishonorably discharged and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.
Leng was liberated from prison at the orders of the Illusive Man, the leader of Cerberus, a human-survivalist paramilitary group now gone completely radical from their experimentations in their attempt to replicate Reaper technology in the hopes of controlling it as their own. After that, Leng went to work of Cerberus, serving as an operative and assassin. He is known for being methodical and discrete, and utterly ruthless.

Kai Leng is a 16-year-old human male, with dark hair and eyes. His background is predominantly Chinese, with some Russian/Slavic roots.

- Fought Thane Krios in hand-to-hand and even wounded him in battle.
- Dispatched Shepard and his squad with help of a Cerberus gunship
- Withstands jumping through hover cars whose speed is well over Mach 3
Faults[]
- Despite his amazing skills, he is still mortal
- Very cowardly:
- Victory over Shepard in Thessia was possible because he had help
- Runs away to fight at a long distance instead of attacking head-on
- Wins by retreating from his battles
- Could not defeat Shepard and his squad in Horsehead Nebula even with his Phantoms
- Defeated by Thane Krios (keep in mind, Thane was dying from a fatal illness called Kepplar's Syndrome, so this made Kai Leng look more pathetic)
- Tactical Cloak lasts only a few minutes
- His attempts to kill Kirrahe and Miranda is optionally a failure (if Shepard reaches both first)
- His blade is durable, but not indestructible (as Shepard had shattered it unarmed)
- Vulnerable to Overload, Cryo Ammo and Omniblades
- Though the last might be difficult due to his agility
