KITT VS DeLorean is the 188th episode of Death Battle and the first episode of Season 11. The episode pitches KITT (Knight Rider) against the DeLorean (Back To The Future), along with the cars' famous drivers: Micheal Knight and Marty McFly.
Interlude[]
Wiz: "Throughout history, cars have not only served as transportation but also as icons of power, speed, and technological prowess. But what happens when two of the most famous cars in pop culture go head-to-head?"
Boomstick: "We’re talkin’ about KITT, the artificially intelligent crime-fighting car from Knight Rider..."
Wiz: "And the DeLorean, the time-traveling machine from Back to the Future."
Boomstick: "These babies are packed with more gadgets and gizmos than a Swiss army knife on steroids! But which one will burn rubber and which one gets to a mechanic?"
Wiz: "I'm Wiz, and he's Boomstick."
Boomstick: "And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE."
KITT[]
Wiz: "First up, we have KITT, the Knight Industries Two Thousand. Designed by the brilliant Wilton Knight and driven by the legendary Michael Knight, KITT is more than just a car - he's a supercomputer on wheels."
Boomstick: "This bad boy’s got it all: a nearly indestructible shell made from a special alloy called Tri-Helical Plasteel 1000 MBS, a turbo boost for those sweet jumps, and a whole arsenal of weapons like flamethrowers, tear gas, and even a laser!"
Wiz: "But KITT's true power lies in his Artificial Intelligence. KITT can think, learn, and adapt to any situation. With advanced sensors, he can detect threats before they happen, and his molecular bonded shell can withstand almost any attack."
Boomstick: "Plus, he's got that sweet, soothing voice. If you’re gonna have a car that talks, it better sound like a smooth operator. But let's not forget his driver, Michael Knight. This guy's a former cop turned crime fighter with more confidence than James Bond and more swagger than Han Solo."
Wiz: "Michael's combat skills, combined with KITT's advanced technology, make them a nearly unstoppable team."
Boomstick: "But can KITT keep up with a car that can literally travel through time?"
DeLorean[]
Wiz: "On the other side of the ring, we have the DeLorean DMC-12, famously modified by the eccentric genius Doc Brown. This car is powered by the Flux Capacitor, a device capable of bending the fabric of space-time, allowing the DeLorean to travel to the past or future at 88 miles per hour."
Boomstick: "And the best part? It's got Mr. Fusion, which means it can run on garbage! No more expensive trips to the gas station!"
Wiz: "While it may not have the same level of AI as KITT, the DeLorean’s strength lies in its time-travel capabilities. It can disappear in an instant, reappear in another era, or even return with future tech that could turn the tide of battle."
Boomstick: "And let's not forget Marty McFly, the teenager behind the wheel. This kid's got guts - he's gone toe-to-toe with terrorists, outsmarted Biff Tannen, and even played a killer guitar solo."
Wiz: "Marty's quick thinking and resourcefulness, paired with the DeLorean's unique abilities, make them a formidable duo."
Boomstick: "But can they handle a car with the brainpower of a supercomputer? Only one way to find out."
Prelude[]
Boomstick: Alright, the combatants are set. Let's end this debate once and for all!
Wiz: "It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!"
Death Battle[]
The camera pans over a deserted highway, lit only by the moonlight. The sound of engines revving echoes through the night.
Michael Knight: "Alright, KITT, let’s show them what we’re made of."
KITT: "As you wish, Michael."
KITT’s headlights flash as the car speeds forward. In the distance, the DeLorean appears, its wheels screeching as it swerves onto the road.
Marty McFly: "Let’s see if this guy can keep up. Hang on, Doc - I’m taking this one for a spin!"
The DeLorean accelerates, the Flux Capacitor glowing as it picks up speed.
The two cars charge at each other, sparks flying as they narrowly miss a head-on collision. KITT activates his turbo boost, launching into the air, flipping over the DeLorean, and landing behind it. Marty pulls the handbrake, spinning the DeLorean around to face KITT.
KITT: "Michael, they are preparing to engage in time travel."
Michael Knight: "Not if we can help it. KITT, activate Laser."
KITT’s laser fires, aiming directly at the DeLorean. Marty swerves, narrowly avoiding the beam.
Marty McFly: "Whoa! This guy means business!"
Marty slams on the accelerator, pushing the DeLorean to 88 miles per hour. The iconic sparks and flashes of light appear as the car begins to fade from view.
KITT calculates quickly and activates his pursuit mode, rocketing toward the DeLorean. Just as the DeLorean vanishes, KITT follows, disappearing into a flash of light.
Both vehicles appear in 1955, the DeLorean speeding through the town square. KITT lands smoothly behind it, maintaining the chase.
KITT begins firing tear gas canisters, clouding the square. Marty struggles to see through the haze.
Marty McFly: "This guy’s nuts! But two can play at that game."
Marty steers the DeLorean through a tight alley, scraping against the walls as sparks fly. KITT follows, using his advanced sensors to navigate through the smoke.
Michael Knight: "KITT, deploy oil slick."
KITT releases an oil slick, causing the DeLorean to skid out of control. Marty manages to stabilize the car just before it crashes into a parked truck.
Marty McFly: "Alright, no more Mr. Nice Guy. Time to bring out the big guns."'
Marty pulls out the sports almanac from the glove compartment, glancing at the headlines of future events. As KITT approaches, Marty swerves to reveal a future sports event being broadcast on a storefront TV. KITT’s sensors briefly analyze the unexpected data, causing a minor system overload.
KITT: "Michael, I'm experiencing a data conflict - system error."
Michael Knight: "Stay with me, KITT! We’re not out yet!"
KITT regains control just as the DeLorean activates the Flux Capacitor again, vanishing from 1955.
The DeLorean reappears in a dystopian 2029 Los Angeles. KITT arrives shortly after, his sleek black frame contrasting with the neon-lit ruins.
Marty McFly: "Okay, this place is a nightmare. Let's end this."
KITT uses his microwave jammer, disrupting the DeLorean's circuits. Marty struggles to keep the car stable as sparks fly from the dashboard.
Marty McFly: "Doc, I could really use a hand right about now!"
KITT accelerates, preparing for a final ramming maneuver. Marty slams on the brakes, forcing KITT to overshoot and pass him. The DeLorean begins to flicker as it charges the Flux Capacitor for one last jump.
Michael Knight: "KITT, turbo boost - now!"
KITT launches into the air just as the DeLorean hits 88 miles per hour. The cars collide mid-air in a flash of light, both disappearing into the time stream.
The scene returns to the present-day highway. Both cars reappear, but the DeLorean’s engine sputters, damaged from the time jumps. KITT lands smoothly, accelerating toward the weakened DeLorean.
Marty McFly: "Come on, come on!"
Marty desperately tries to start the DeLorean, but KITT’s laser locks onto the car. A powerful beam strikes the DeLorean, causing it to explode in a fiery wreck.
As the smoke clears, KITT drives through the flames, unscathed. The battle is over.
KITT: "Target neutralized."
Michael Knight: "Good work, KITT. Let’s head back to Devon and Bonnie."
Results[]
Boomstick: "Holy smokes! That was one hell of a ride!"
Wiz: "Marty and the DeLorean put up a good fight, but in the end, KITT’s advanced AI, superior weaponry, and nearly indestructible design gave him the edge."
Boomstick: "Yeah, time travel’s cool and all, but it can’t save you when you’re up against a car that can literally do everything. Sorry, Marty, but you just got outclassed."
Wiz: "KITT's versatility, combined with Michael Knight's combat experience, ensured that they could counter whatever the DeLorean threw at them, even across different timelines."
Boomstick: "Guess Marty should’ve checked the almanac before getting into this fight. The winner is KITT."
Trivia[]
- The battle’s timeline jumps include several nods to the original shows and movies. The 1955 Hill Valley set was meticulously recreated using references from Back to the Future, while the 2029 Los Angeles scene included Easter eggs from various cyberpunk films.
- When KITT and the DeLorean land in 1955, the date displayed on the DeLorean's time circuit reads November 5th, 1955—the same date Marty first traveled back to in the original Back to the Future.
- The 2029 Los Angeles scene contains a billboard advertising "BiffCo," a nod to Biff Tannen’s dystopian future in Back to the Future Part II. In addition, there's a graffiti tag that reads "Michael was here," a subtle nod to Michael Knight’s long-standing heroics in pop culture.
- KITT's use of the microwave jammer is a direct reference to Knight Rider Season 3, Episode 5 ("Halloween Knight"), where KITT uses the device to disable electronic systems. This was included as a callback for die-hard fans of the series.
- Inside KITT's left dashboard, a framed photograph of Devon Miles and Bonnie Barstow can be seen.
