Jotaro Vs Diavolo is a theoretical episode of Death Battle. It features Jotaro Kujo and Diavolo from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Description[]

Jotaro Vs Diavolo! Who is the true master of time?

Introduction[]

Wiz: Jotaro Kujo, marine biologist and part-time superhero.

Boomstick: Diavolo, leader and greatest of Passione.

Wiz: Despite these characters being from the same series and coexisting at the same time, neither has met the other, and as such, a battle between them has been hotly debated and requested.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!

Jotaro[]

Wiz: Jotaro Kujo was only 17 years old when his life took a turn for the bizarre.

Boomstick: You did that on purpose.

Wiz: Really though, one day he had been jailed after getting into a physical altercation with several armed thugs, only for him to be totally unharmed.

Boomstick: And if you think THAT'S the strange part, you're dead wrong! Nah, the actual crazy thing is that what allowed Jotaro to single-handedly hospitalize those thugs was what he at first described as an evil spirit. Thankfully, his grandfather Joseph Joestar explained to him that this spirit was known as a Stand.

Wiz: Stands are physical manifestations of the soul, and act as what are essentially guardian angels for their users. A person controls their Stand mentally and physically, sometimes even outright commanding it to act. Due to their strange nature, only a Stand is capable to destroying another Stand, with very few special cases being the exceptions.

Boomstick: Luckily for Jotaro, he happened to get quite possibly the best one around, known only as Star Platinum!

Wiz: Star Platinum is often described throughout the series as invincible, and at one point was flat out called the strongest Stand in the world. Befitting Jotaro's tenacity and standoffish nature, Star Platinum excels at hand-to-hand combat, boasting mindblowing strength and speed rivaled by no other.

Boomstick: Star Platinum is capable of uppercutting a Stand with enough force to send it flying through 3 floors of a school, creating a shockwave powerful enough to rattle the entire building and blow out several windows. It once created a crater large enough to fit 4 people in a single punch, bounced an SUV out of the way of an 18-wheeler by bumping its fist off the fender, and later pulled said SUV (which was full of passengers btw) using one hand and threw a haymaker at another vehicle to change the trajectory and save Jotaro and his team from falling into a ravine. And when battling Dio's Stand, The World, which was stated to be faster and stronger than Star Platinum, it still was big enough to get into a punching contest with it multiple times, once even with a steamroller.

Wiz: Due to Star Platinum's devastating strength, Jotaro usually prefers not to use all of its power when battling his enemies, instead relying on the Stand's speed. It's fast enough to catch a bullet at point blank, contend with and outpace Silver Chariot and Anubis simultaneously, and according to Yoshikage Kira, moves so fast that it feels like time is stopped.

Boomstick: Which is hilarious because guess what Star Platinum can do? That's right, it's capable of stopping time, just like The World. But unlike Dio who went from a 5 second to an 11 second limit before his destruction, Jotaro's limit for Time Stop is 3 seconds, having only managed to get it to 5 seconds when battling Pucci's Made In Heaven.

Wiz: Perhaps what makes Star Platinum so deadly on top of all of its physicality is its precision. Not only can it carefully yank out a vampiric flesh bud without damaging the victim or Jotaro, but it has telescopic eyesight, allowing it to draw an insect that was invisible to a human eye, and fire off ball bearings by flicking them with the force being comparable to a sniper rifle bullet.

Boomstick: Ok, are we sure we're not talking about some character whose limits just get bigger the more we imagine things?

Wiz: While Jotaro is virtually invincible by all accounts, he has one glaring drawback. Star Platinum's effective range is only 2-3 meters at most, meaning he has little methods of defending himself against an opponent with ranged attacks. And while Star Platinum can only be harmed by other Stands, Jotaro himself is still human, and lethal wounds are enough to put him down.

Boomstick: Not that it matters that much, because Jotaro himself has survived some insane things, such as taking a bomb to the face and having a bunch of holes blown into him. Meanwhile he just stood up moments later more pissed off than hurt, and proceeded to absolutely pulverize the idiot responsible.

Wiz: Also, utilizing a powerful Stand like Star Platinum requires a great deal of energy, and due to Jotaro prioritizing his marine biology career over battling enemy Stand users, there have been times where he was caught off guard, needing to use his razor sharp wits to come up with a gameplan.

Boomstick: But a few human errors here and there are nothing to a guy who's the full package of the perfect warrior. It's no surprise that no matter who it is, Jotaro managed to strike fear into their hearts. Ora ora, indeed.

Diavolo[]

Wiz: Vinegar Doppio was born in the summer of 1967 in Italy.

Boomstick: Wait, I thought his name was Diavolo. Who's this guy supposed to be?

Wiz: We'll get to that in a moment. The circumstances surrounding Doppio's birth are nothing short of enigmatic. For starters, he was born in a women's prison, and his mother was pregnant with him for 2 years. Not only that, but when he was born, he was totally calm, no crying or anything.

Boomstick: And he had a full head of hair too! Did we ever figure out who his father is?

Wiz: Nope, as far as his mother knows, the father's whereabouts are unknown, and she couldn't have seen him at any point during her sentence. What's more is that the mother showed no signs of pregnancy. One minute she was fine, the next she birthed Doppio.

Boomstick: Even stranger, Doppio's eyes don't reflect light, and they even changed color for a split second not longer after his birth.

Wiz: Since Doppio couldn't live in the prison, he was sent to live with a pastor, where he'd spent most of his life. However, at one point, something sinister took a hold of Doppio's consciousness. It's almost as if he had an evil twin living inside his brain, as it drove him to bury his mother alive under the chapel he was raised, kill the pastor for discovering it, and then setting the whole town on fire just to cover his tracks.

Boomstick: This "evil twin" would later come to be named Diavolo. Because what else would you name a guy who did all of that?

Wiz: No one knows where Diavolo came from, or how long he'd been occupying Doppio's body.

Boomstick: Not that he'd be of much help if you asked, because the only time he reveals himself to anyone, it's to kill them.

Wiz: And he does this with his perilous Stand, King Crimson.

Boomstick: See at sometime in his life, Diavolo discovered 6 Stand arrowheads in Egypt. He kept one and sold the other 5, used it on himself, and once he survived and developed his Stand, he'd go on to use it on the gangsters under his employ in the Mafia. Oh yeah, did we mention he's a Mafia Don? Because he is.

Wiz: Named Passione, Diavolo's syndicate had entirely enveloped Italy in crime, and the country's politicians, companies, and citizens had all been bought. They specialized in drug trades, but their other ventures include assassinations and gambling rings.

Boomstick: Back to his Stand, because it's quite the thing to behold. King Crimson is a close-range Stand with power, and lots of it at that. It's strong enough to dent boulders, partially shatter brick walls, slice off limbs, and impale people in an instant. On the topic of speed, it's capable of deflecting bullets, scalpels, and in a one-on-one with Silver Chariot, it effortlessly outpaced it.

Wiz: Of all the Stands in Passione, King Crimson easily sticks out as the ultimate, primarily due to its special ability, Time Erasure. Also referred to as Time Skip, once activated, Diavolo removes himself from the passage of time for a maximum of 10 seconds, making him invulnerable to everything. The events play out as normal, however everyone except Diavolo won't have any memory of their actions, leaving only the results. Putting it simply, Diavolo erases people's perception of time, rather than just deleting it, despite what the ability's name says.

Boomstick: It just works bro. But if that ability wasn't enough, King Crimson has an auxiliary Stand attached to its forehead called Epitaph, which predicts the future for 10 seconds. He projects these predictions onto his long flowing hair, meaning he knows your next move before you do! Damn, with all of these powers, how can he ever lose?

Wiz: Don't get the wrong idea here, Epitaph isn't rigging future events or anything. Diavolo still has to plan accordingly to the future that was predicted. So if he sees events don't play out favorably, he can always disappear into erased time. Moreover, Diavolo has a tendency to misinterpret the predictions, most notably when he falsely believed Gold Experience was rejected by the Requiem arrow.

Boomstick: Yeeeep, and then Gold Experience Requiem sentenced him to dying forever. Not even being dead, he's repeatedly experiencing various and unforeseen deaths with no end! But hey, it's really saying something if the heroes had to resort to such a broken power to take him down.

Wiz: He's not invincible but damn tough to defeat. Fate has never been more of an ally to anyone else.

Interlude[]

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possible outcomes. It's time to settle this debate once and for all!

Boomstick: WHICH MEANS IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Jotaro arrives at the Colosseum, where he finds Doppio holding the Requiem arrow. He introduces himself

Jotaro: You there. My name is Jotaro Kujo. I've been sent here on behalf of the Speedwagon Foundation to retrieve a Requiem arrow. Would you give it to me?

Doppio: Sorry sir, I don't know what you're talking about.

Jotaro: Don't make this difficult kid. All I want's the arrow.

Doppio's eyes change, and time skips to reveal Diavolo standing before Jotaro.

Jotaro: What the hell? Who are you? Where'd the kid go?

Diavolo: Don't worry about him. You're dealing with me now.

Jotaro: Good grief, this is your final warning to give me that arrow before I bust it up. To be clear, by "it", I mean your face.

Diavolo: My deepest apologies, but I can't allow your hands to touch the arrow. Prepare for death!

Jotaro: ...Nothing's ever easy.

FIGHT!

Diavolo attempts to strike Jotaro with King Crimson's arm, but Jotaro quickly jabs at him with Star Platinum's. Annoyed, Diavolo fully summons King Crimson while Jotaro does Star Platinum. King Crimson lands heavy strikes as Star Platinum guards against them. After a bit, King Crimson manages to break Star Platinum's guard.

Jotaro: *shocked* This guy's tougher than he looks!

Diavolo: This is your end! PERISH!

King Crimson is about to punch Star Platinum square in the face, but out of nowhere, it teleports away. Diavolo is confused, then turns around to see Jotaro behind him. Jotaro punches Diavolo with his bare fist, flooring him.

Diavolo: How did you do that?!

Jotaro: Nervous sweetheart?

Star Platinum reconfigures and goes for a ground pound, only for Diavolo to skip time and Star Platinum's fist shatters part of the ground. Before Jotaro can realize what just happened, Diavolo shoulder blocks him with King Crimson, sending him flying. Jotaro quickly recovers, and their Stands clash. Star Platinum easily overwhelms King Crimson, grabs it by the throat, punches it several times with one hand, but before Jotaro can finish with a strong strike, Diavolo skips time and frees himself from Star Platinum's grasp.

Jotaro: I see now. You can skip time. That's how you're able to make these clean getaways.

Diavolo: You were able to discern my ability so fast! You mean to say you can control time too?

Jotaro: Well then, aren't you perceptive? Let's see who's the real time wizard. STAR PLATINUM, THE WORLD!

Diavolo tries to go for an attack, but Star Platinum stops time, freezing him in place. With that, Jotaro proceeds to give Diavolo a quick beatdown.

Jotaro: That's enough, time in.

Diavolo is thrown back several feet. Although he is in a great deal of pain, he still isn't ready to give up, and struggles back up.

Jotaro: Don't worry, I'm going easy on you here.

Diavolo: Your mockery won't stand! I'll show you why I've remained at the top for so long! KING CRIMSON!

King Crimson skips time, leaving Diavolo safe for a while.

Diavolo: Perfect, now to plan my next move. Epitaph, show me the future!

Diavolo's hair flows as Epitaph's prediction is displayed on it. Epitaph predicts that Jotaro will finish Diavolo off with a savage beating. Diavolo looks at Jotaro at what appears to be the attack that was intended for him playing out as predicted.

Diavolo: Excellent, once time's flow continues, he'll be directly open to my attack!

Diavolo stands behind Jotaro, with King Crimson raising its hand for a karate chop.

Diavolo: TIME TO DIE LIKE THE WEAKLING YOU ARE!

Time resumes, Jotaro notices he attacked nothing, and as King Crimson brings its hand down, Jotaro stops time just before it can cleave his arm off.

Jotaro: I should've guessed he'd do something like that. Good thing I was quick enough to stop time before anything serious happened.

Star Platinum returns to Jotaro and throws a heavy punch at King Crimson.

Jotaro: And now time will resume.

Once time resumes, Diavolo hits the ground hard. He still refuses to surrender, and slowly props himself on one knee.

Jotaro: Had enough yet?

Diavolo angrily snarls, skips time for a second, and now King Crimson has appeared before Jotaro. King Crimson sinks its fingers into Jotaro's stomach lining and brings its elbow down on Jotaro, bouncing him against the ground. Then it grabs Jotaro by the throat and starts to strangle him.

Diavolo: You died the second you were in range, I'll make sure you stay that way! NOW DISAPPEAR!

King Crimson raises its fist, ready to fatally strike Jotaro. Just then, Star Platinum's forearm materializes and flicks a ball bearing straight through Diavolo's throat. Diavolo begins choking and gasping for air as he drops to his knees. King Crimson withdraws and Jotaro makes his way over to the badly injured godfather.

Jotaro: Ok, now you pissed me off.

Star Platinum unleashes a massive barrage of punches, ending with a single one. Diavolo, ever the determinator, summons King Crimson for a counter attack, but it's not quick enough, as Star Platinum pulverizes King Crimson, the damage transferring to Diavolo. Once Jotaro's had enough, Star Platinum finishes with a devastating haymaker to King Crimson's head, cracking it. Diavolo goes flying across the Colosseum and hits the ground dead. Jotaro has Star Platinum retrieve the arrow, and then withdraws it.

Jotaro: Good grief, can I take a breather now?

K.O.!

Results[]

Boomstick: Hey guys, what's pink and red all over? DIAVOLO!

Wiz: This battle was truly a test of will. Jotaro may come second to Diavolo's skills in silent assassination, but he far exceeds him in close-quarters combat thanks to greater experience with his Stand.

Boomstick: Even though Diavolo was a master at disappearing into erased time, Jotaro's Time Stop had no trouble pinning him down.

Wiz: On the topic of physical capabilities, while both Star Platinum and King Crimson have shown similar feats, only Star Platinum has consistently proven its power level in various ways, whereas King Crimson's feats are mostly the same all across the board. Diavolo's dominance in Passione is certainly noteworthy, but he is a big fish in a small pond, all things considered.

Boomstick: That might sound good for Diavolo on paper, but it means that he has little experience fighting foes of equal power to him.

Wiz: Diavolo did have an advantage in the form of Time Skip lasting longer than Time Stop. However, it's rare that Diavolo ever maxed out the duration of his ability at any time, preferring to use it just as long as he needs to.

Boomstick: Now we know what you're gonna ask; "Couldn't Diavolo just skip Jotaro's Time Stop?" And the answer to that question is a big fat NO!

Wiz: As described in canon, King Crimson's Time Skip requires existing time to work. When time is stopped, there is nothing for him to skip, rendering his ability useless. And even if he could skip stopped time, Diavolo can't directly interact with anything during skipped time like Jotaro can in stopped time, which is why he's only ever been shown using Time Skip defensively instead of aggressively.

Boomstick: Even if Jotaro couldn't stop time somehow, he wouldn't need it to beat Diavolo.

Wiz: Epitaph would've been Diavolo's ace in the hole, as it's hard to prepare against an enemy who has already predicted the future. But not only has Diavolo misread the predictions in the past, he also needs an opening to use it, and there's no chance that Jotaro would ever let him have a moment to do so.

Boomstick: Diavolo can be pretty crafty when he needs to be, but Jotaro is an expert tactician. He's spent years honing his skills and pushing his Stand's limits, constantly throwing himself into danger just for the greater good. Diavolo's always treated hand-to-hand combat as a last resort, while Jotaro flat out enjoys it.

Wiz: Overall, Jotaro had the intelligence and upper hand in close combat, making this fight pretty straightforward.

Boomstick: Looks like this crimson king has been dethroned.

Wiz: Really? That's the best pun you can come up with?

Boomstick: Oh gimme a break Wiz, I was only writing his epitaph!

WIz: *exasperated* ....The winner is Jotaro.
