Jotaro vs

Yeah, I know this is a really bad thumbnail. I tried.

Description[]

Dolls vs. Stands... so similar in so many ways, and yet just different enough to avoid copyright infringement. Who will reign superior in this fight of JoJo's Bzarre Adventure vs. Bleach?

Written by Th3Gr8DrX

Interlude[]

Wiz: The soul. Not a person alive knows quite how it works.

Boomstick: But we know that it reflects a person's true self.

Wiz: And sometimes, your "true self" just wants to...

Boomstick: Beat the sh*t out of people.

Wiz: Er... well put. Like Jotaro Kujo, the delinquent-turned-hero from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Boomstick: And Yoshino Sōma, the Maternal Bount from Bleach. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armour, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle!

Jotaro stands proud in DEATH BATTLE[]

Wiz: Jotaro Kujo was always a pretty tough kid growing up. Frankly, he was quite the delinquent.

Boomstick: He was always getting into fights and that sort of thing, but one day, he took down four armed gangsters, without getting a scratch on him. Now that's cool!

Wiz: The only thing was, he had no idea how he did it. Obviously, he was possessed by an evil spirit.

Boomstick: Duh!

Wiz: Well, not really. This "spirit" was actually a physical manifestation of Jotaro's soul, called a Stand.

Boomstick: And because of the distress signal being sent out by his great-great-grandfather's... headless body... ok... Jotaro got one of the strongest Stands around: Star Platinum!

Wiz: Star Platinum really is crazy strong, powerful enough to fight other Stands like Silver Chariot, Justice, and even The World.

Boomstick: He can punch crazy hard and crazy fast, so much so that he can shatter diamond! Hey, Wiz, I thought Diamond is Unbreakable.

Wiz: Don't do that. Star Platinum is not only strong and fast, but also has incredible eyesight and precision, being able to do anything from catching a bullet to drawing a picture to seeing objects and people miles away. It even possesses a self-preservation ability, being able to protect Jotaro even if he isn't aware there's danger.

Boomstick: But just being a Stand comes with its benefits as well.

Wiz: Stands, as a representation of the soul, are invisible, and can only be harmed by other Stands, but can also phase through solid objects and even alter their size and shape, giving Star Platinum access to unorthodox techniques like Star Finger.

Boomstick: But the only reason Jotaro is such a good fighter is because of how smart he is. He's really good at figuring out what's about to happen and capitalizing on it. I guess it runs in the family.

Joseph Joestar: I know what you'll say next.

Joseph and Straizo: About as easy as taking candy from a baby.

Straizo: *gasps*

Wiz: Jotaro really is very good at this. It seems he can always figure out the right thing to do in every situation, but unlike a certain British American, he isn't cheating.

Boomstick: And all this without his most powerful ability, transforming Star Platinum into Star Platinum: The World.

Wiz: Yeah, this may have been something of an asspull, but in their final battle, Jotaro was able to copy his archenemy DIO's ability to stop time, though his version isn't quite as good.

Boomstick: Stopping time relies on stamina, and since Jotaro is just a squishy human, he has a limit to his. He has a cooldown window between each timestop, and using it tends to tire him out. Still, though, being able to stop time at all is useful.

Wiz: Jotaro is not only a formidable fighter, but also someone who doesn't rush in with brute force, despite having the power to do so.

Jotaro: I, Jotaro Kujo, am labelled a punk. I tend to overdo it with my opponents in fights, so much that some are still in the hospital. There was one idiot teacher who was all talk, so I taught him a lesson, and he hasn't come back to school. At restaurants that served me lousy food, I leave without paying the bill all the time. But... even I know nauseating evil when I see it.

Yoshino makes her own way in DEATH BATTLE![]

Wiz: For centuries now, there has been a race known as the Bounts living among humans, blending in, but also sticking out.

Boomstick: It isn't easy being immortal. Watching people live and die, it's depressing stuff.

Wiz: No one knows this better than Yoshino Sōma. Born long ago in the... olden times... she never suspected that there might be anything wrong with her.

Boomstick: Until, that is, she realized that she wasn't aging like all her friends and family.

Wiz: Past a certain point in her life, the passage of time just stopped effecting her. She would roam the world forever, not as a human, but a Bount.

Boomstick: Think of a Bount as a vampire. They're pretty much... yeah, they're vampires.

Wiz: The Bounts were created long ago by accident by the Soul Society, attempting to achieve eternal life. Their experiment, however, was rather unstable, so when it exploded, it affected the humans that were being born at the time, completely changing what they were.

Boomstick: Fearing she was a witch, the people of her village chased out poor Yoshino.

Wiz: Realizing that eternal life is torment, she made the decision to kill herself.

Boomstick: But right before she did, a fellow Bount named Jin Kariya found her and told her there was another way.

Wiz: She could have a purpose in life, loving him, and being his wife.

Boomstick: Don't worry, it was the olden times, feminism didn't exist yet. Anyway, she jumped at the chance, but soon realized that he was a really bad dude, doing things like eating live humans' souls.

Wiz: Kariya was, in reality, only interested in power, and Yoshino was of the utmost importance because she was the only Bount able to reproduce.

Boomstick: So, she set out on a quest for revenge! And boy, does she have the skills to do that!

Wiz: She boasts superhuman speed, strength, and durability, and is an expert in hand-to-hand combat.

Boomstick: She can hypnotize humans, rendering them incapable of fighting back or fleeing, perfect for eating their soul!

Wiz: And her most powerful weapon is her Doll, Goethe.

Boomstick: That bracelet she's wearing is more than meets the eye! When she unseals it, all hell breaks loose!

Yoshino (unseals Goethe): Zeig dih, Goethe!

Wiz: Goethe possesses the power of flight and the ability to both create and control fire, as well as being invisible to normal humans.

Boomstick: He's crazy strong and crazy fast, and can regenerate from any damage, even if he gets broken down into little pieces.

Wiz: And, as a last resort, Yoshino can merge with Goethe, forming one being with both minds and abilities greatly enhanced, being able to create explosions just by punching.

Boomstick: Too bad it didn't seem to do the job...

Kariya: *Punches through Yoshino's stomach*

Wiz: Nonetheless, Yoshino Sōma is not someone many cross and live.

Goethe: What do you want, Yoshino?

Yoshino: You are my alter ego, aren't you?

Goethe: What is this all about?

Yoshino: Do you have any problems with dying here?

Goethe: We're going to die together? ... All right...

Death Battle[]

The animation for this fight is now done! If you want to watch it, it's right here: [1]

The quality's kinda bad, so maaaaaaaaybe watch it on a smaller screen...

This took me absolutely forever to do, so if you enjoyed, please tell me so as to sustain my fragile, fragile ego. Also, the below text is all just the written version, for those who would rather read than watch. Once you're done, go ahead and skip straight to the analysis section.

Jotaro is seen walking down a street at night. He crosses paths with a beautiful, pale woman and stops.

ゴゴゴゴ

Jotaro: There's something... off about you.

Yoshino: Never you mind that.

Jotaro: It's cold, and yet I can't see your breath.

Yoshino stops and turns to Jotaro.

Yoshino: Fine, then. And what, may I ask, are you?

Jotaro: Just someone who's about to kick your vampire ass.

Jotaro summons Star Platinum. Yoshino looks at it and takes a step back.

Yoshino: (To herself) Kariya must have sent him... there's only one way out of this. (Aloud) Fine then, have it your way! Zeig dih, Goethe!

Yoshino touches her bracelet and Goethe appears. Jotaro can't see him, but notices a surge of heat.

Jotaro (to himself): So she's a Stand User as well... but her Stand is invisible? Nothing I can't handle.

Goethe: Let's have some fun?

Yoshino: You know it.

FIGHT!

Right off the bat, Goethe throws two fireballs at Jotaro, but Star Platinum blocks them both with its fists. Jotaro starts walking towards Yoshino, with Star Platinum ready to fight, but Yoshino moves with astonishing speed around him, and kicks Jotaro in the back before he knows what happened, sending him flying, though before he hits a nearby wall, Star Platinum catches him. Goethe comes charging toward them at a very high speed.

Jotaro: Star Platinum: The World!

As time stops, Jotaro notices a heat blur in the air, and knows where Goethe is. Star Platinum absolutely wails on him for the next five seconds.

Star Platinum: ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA! OOORA!!

Time resumes, and Goethe explodes into thousands of pieces, but Jotaro notices Yoshino still standing. He starts running at her, but Goethe reforms in front of him.

Jotaro: Yare yare...

Noticing the distortion in the air, he stops running and has Star Platinum attack again. Goethe blocks and shoots back a fireball before going in for a tackle on Star Platinum, only for SP to hit him away and then smash cleanly through his head with an extended finger. The two run for Yoshino, but she makes it to them before they do her, and she meets Star Platinum's punch with her own, only for her fist to pass right through SP's, resulting in her receiving a firm punch in the face, knocking her down. SP launches another punch, but she just barely manages to roll out of the way, jumping high into the air and landing on the other side of the street, Goethe materializing next to her. Jotaro starts walking toward her once more, trying to figure out how to tackle the situation. Goethe throws fireball after fireball, but Jotaro stops time and avoids them easily, appearing to Yoshino as if he had disappeared, though she immediately senses him behind her, with Star Platinum at the ready and turns.

Jotaro: It doesn't look like I can hurt that invisible Stand of yours. But I don't really need to, do I?

Yoshino: Enough talk. This is over.

Yoshino takes a deep, slow breath in, and exhales calmly. Jotaro grinds to a halt, and his arms fall limply to his sides. Star Platinum fades away and he starts walking slowly toward Yoshino, caught in her trance. As he reaches her, she puts a hand on his shoulder and reaches up, as if to kiss him.

Yoshino: You put up a good fight. I wonder what your soul will taste like.

Star Platinum suddenly sticks its body out of Jotaro's chest.

Jotaro (speaking through Star Platinum): Close, but not close enough!

It punches her square in the face, knocking her down and bringing Jotaro back to his senses. She tries to get up, but SP grabs her by the throat and holds her down.

Goethe: Yoshino!

He flies toward her, knocking Jotaro off his feet and sending him flying in the process.

He crash-lands in a very unceremonious fashion, and, wiping blood from his face, sits up before noticing his opponents doing something.

Yoshino: There's only one way we can do this. Are you ready, Goethe?

Goethe: Anything for you, mama.

Yoshino seals Goethe and then breaks her Manshō. A massive fiery explosion erupts around Yoshino, and when it clears, her and Goethe are one and the same.

ドドドド

Yoshino: Let's do this.

She raises her hands to the sky and charges up a huge ball of fire, before launching it at Jotaro. Star Platinum tries to block it, but it engulfs him, exploding on contact and disintegrating him completely...?

She looks around. Where is he? It can't have been that easy.

A purple hand taps her on the shoulder.

She quickly turns around but Star Platinum hits Yoshino with a firm backhand, but she recovers, flying at Jotaro at full force, throwing a punch with maximum power. Star Platinum catches her fist, and a smile spreads across its face. Yoshino, taken aback, tries to move back, only to realize it won't let go of her.

Jotaro: Star Platinum: The World!

Time stands still, and Star Platinum starts punching her rapidly, then hits her with one extra-strong punch, going right through her midsection.

Jotaro: Time's about to move.

As time resumes, Yoshino flies backward, crashing into a wall.

Goethe: I'm... sorry... Yoshi... no...

As the fiery coating disintegrates, only the woman is left, slowly losing consciousness before the life fades from her eyes.

Jotaro: Huh. Easier than DIO.

K.O.

Jotaro is seen reconvening with Joseph Joestar a few streets down, while Gō Koga finds Yoshino's body, and, taken aback, quickly leaves to report his findings to Jin Kariya.

Analysis[]

Boomstick: Awwww... not again.

Wiz: This match is crazy close. Stands and Dolls are so alike in so many ways.

Boomstick: We aren't just saying "Jotaro wins because he killed a vampire before". Bounts are obviously very different from JoJo vampires.

Wiz: We should clarify a few things to start. First off, it is highly likely that Yoshino would be able to see Stands. She can see souls, which are normally invisible, and Stands are just the manifestation of one's soul. Not too far fetched. Not that it really matters, as you'll soon see.

Boomstick: The same does not apply to Jotaro. Just because he can see Stands does not mean he can see Dolls, as he does not possess any Reishi capabilities. That being said, Jotaro can see through Star Platinum's eyes, and it has excellent eyesight. It would no doubt be able to see the distortion in the air caused by Goethe's presence.

Wiz: Plus, unlike a Stand similar to him, Magician's Red, Goethe's fire is actual, real fire that can be seen by ordinary humans, so Jotaro can not only see his attacks, but also where they are coming from, giving him an even better idea of where he is. It's possible he'd even be able to see the fire that's on his body.

Boomstick: OK, so they can both kinda see the other's ghost friend. Why does Jotaro win?

Wiz: First off, Star Platinum's speed greatly exceeds Goethe's, being able to travel at the speed of light. Even though it can't fight unless it's within 2m of Jotaro, who definitely can't move at light speed, it can easily intercept any attack to help Jotaro get within range.

Boomstick: And even with her fire, she's still gotta hit him first.

Wiz: But let's acknowledge what this fight is. Yoshino can't harm Star Platinum at all, nor can Goethe, because it's a Stand, and Goethe can't be damaged because he's made of fire. Neither could beat the other, so this was a race to see whether SP could kill Yoshino before she or Goethe killed Jotaro.

Boomstick: Yeah, realistically, Jotaro didn't stand much of a chance against either Yoshino or Goethe, whereas only SP was a threat to Yoshino. This was more or less 2-on-1, but Star Platinum is still just that much stronger.

Wiz: Neither Yoshino nor Goethe have ever done anything on the level of smashing diamond with a single punch, while Jotaro has, and with seemingly little effort at that, as he did it again, and again, and again and again and again.

Boomstick: ORAORAORAORAORAORA! There is one thing Yoshino had though. She could hypnotize Jotaro and just suck out his soul.

Wiz: That's true, but Star Platinum has been shown to be able to act independently of Jotaro's consciousness before, saving him from danger without his knowledge. More on that note, Star Platinum has very little personality or mind to speak of, behaving as an extension of Jotaro's will, whereas Goethe is a different mind from Yoshino.

Boomstick: Not only does this mean the two may not necessarily be on the same page all the time, but if Yoshino wants Goethe to do something in particular, she has to tell him out loud to do so, obviously giving away any strategy they might have. Like a Pokémon.

Wiz: Furthermore, while most Dolls obey their masters out of loyalty, Goethe obeys Yoshino because he loves her; she's his mother, so he can get distracted on the battlefield out of concern for her.

Boomstick: Momma's boy.

Wiz: And finally, her fusion with Goethe may make her more powerful, but it's not a power she's good at using or even knows how to use, not to mention it takes away her numbers advantage. Plus, don't forget that power is frankly a non-factor, since she still can't hurt Star Platinum either way. At the end of the day, Jotaro had exactly what he needed to beat Yoshino.

Boomstick: But let's not forget about what Jotaro has: The World.

Wiz: And that just cements his victory. Yoshino has no way to counter or work around the time stop. If she tries to blitz him, Star Platinum will just stop time and kill her. If she tries to run away, Star Platinum will stop time and close the gap. If she tries to just overwhelm him with fire and burn him to a crisp, he'll just stop time and dodge. Yoshino just doesn't have a way to fight such an ability, no matter what she tries.

Boomstick: Looks like when it came to Battle, Jotaro just had a higher Tendency toward winning!

Wiz: Goddammit, Boomstick.

Boomstick: You know, sometimes I really can't Stand your lack of a sense of humour.

Wiz: (exasperated) The winner is Jotaro Kujo.

Jotaro: Here's your receipt. You can keep the frickin' change.
