Johnny Joestar vs Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad is a What-If? Death Battle written by hade, featuring Johnny Joestar from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad from Assassin's Creed in a fight between prestigious, brash, and formerly anti-heroic protagonists of the first notable generations in wonderful lineages proud to Stand by the Creed.
Interlude[]
Ky: Brotherhood, a bond between people akin to a general sibling connection between brothers, a word that many could use to describe their relationship with family... or used as the meaning for an entire association, the lineage you or your family might have in relation to others, whether that's brought together by religion, society, or... uh... understanding!
Ukyo: Unfortunately, not all examples of either definitions are healthy- and in certain cases can lead to the distress of our character. This really becomes even worse when you feel the need to prove yourself to those you align with, the intentions to... redeem yourself, perhaps? And a path of redemption these two indeed follow, you know
Ky: Johnny Joestar, the Golden Equestrian from the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Steel Ball Run.

Ukyo: And Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, the Angel of Death and leading protagonist of the first Assassin's Creed game.

Ukyo: And when it's down a path that likely won't ever go back around, what would these two do when it comes down to their determination to preserve their lives? He's Ky, and I'm Ukyo!
Ky: ... And we'll be researching their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE!
Johnny Joestar spins towards the top of DEATH BATTLE![]
Ky: The Steel Ball Run, a race brought up to high expectations established by important figures in the United States of America- sponsored by figures like the President himself, Funny Valentine! This idea alone brought up the idea of a race across the state to be highly prestigious- and with a fee of only twelve hundred dollars, it wasn't the most expensive fee for anyone willing to push themselves into this race.
Ukyo: As people recognized the prize of sixty million dollars as- you know- a lot of money, many people pushed themselves to join the race. However, not all people were joining this race for the factor of money or even power.

Ukyo: Enter Johnny Joestar, a youth with a legendary history that was left paralyzed after a gunshot to his back from an enraged citizen- leaving him to be bed-ridden for years.
Ky: Combine the fact that Johnny's 'legendary history' came with horse-riding, his horrible relationship with his father after the death of his brother, and... a lot of other instances in his life, the fact he'd been paralyzed left Johnny emotionally unavailable as he couldn't even figure himself out in his mind, scarred by the troubles he'd dealt with even at his youngest and being physically disabled now unable to do the things he was best at.

Ukyo: However, with fate itself aligning for Johnny Joestar, he mysteriously made an appearance on the area of the Steel Ball Run- in front of a robbery attempt on another notable man named Gyro Zeppeli. Interested after seeing the power of the executioner's Steel Balls, which had twisted a man and left him dead upon contact, he attempted to inspect them physically. However, after doing so, Johnny was mysteriously pushed upwards- given the ability to stand up. Noticing this, Johnny was absolutely surprised by the power, and wanted to do anything to experience it again...
Ky: So basically, the guy had gotten into the horse race that Gyro was trying to join! Which I mean, you know, I'm not against...
Ukyo: He's... He doesn't have working legs.
Ky: Well, that sure didn't stop him! I mean, don't just look at Johnny... look at these other combatants!

Ky: Not only do you gotta look past the guy who's entire Stand is a, you know, Outkast song and grants him extreme confidence to where it gives him extreme luck, or the jockey who just so happens to be Johnny's former rival, or KANYE WEST!... there's literally an indigenous guy who's outrunning all the horses. Yeah, guess his name? Soundman.
Ukyo: Okay, well, look. There might be weird people at the Steel Ball Run, so it's honestly not surprising you'd have a crippled guy there... You know what? I can't even question it. Regardless, Johnny isn't too bad at the shabang, you know... despite his lack of legs. He's able to maintain path with Gyro throughout the race, and his skill in racing despite this allowed him to actually impress the Steel Ball user! So, there's that.
Ky: Impressed with his skill, Gyro was basically inclined to let the guy come along with him. Which, yeah, that's good- cuz right when they start, they get into fights! Seeing as how people weren't actually obeying the rules of the Steel Ball Run- which was not to break laws, like assault- those kinds of restrictions were pretty much dropped by the duo. After getting in a mish-mash with a small family and meeting up with a familiar cowboy, Johnny actually unlocks a really cool ability!
Ukyo: Oh, yeah. He does. Johnny, after his interaction with the Boom Boom Family, unlocked the ability to shoot his fingernails as projectiles. This is basically a 'Stand' ability, which is a form of your fighting spirit in a semi-tangible form that can only be visualized by others who have the same sorta fighting power... Johnny's own Stand is basically centralized around the concept of Spin, the concept that empowers the previously mentioned Steel Balls, too!
Ky: Yeah, Johnny was able to obtain his own form of the same power that he'd been searching out of Gyro in the form of this Stand ability, which was... also formed into a really cute little guy! Aww...

Ky: Naming the lil' guy Tusk, Johnny actually had more to fight on with than just... sitting there the whole time and relying on his mentor. So, at least he could do something now! And that something is basically shooting out bullets from his fingertips, a superpower that I'm sure literally no one would pick.
Ukyo: It's not something Johnny had picked, though, Ky. Rather, it was an indirect connection through a place known as the 'Devil's Palm', dry parts on the world created through the saint known as Jesus Christ's leftover body parts that spread across the planet, of which being in these areas of extensive periods of time cause- well- a change. As the Boom Boom Family had put it, it's a permanent change that'll affect you forever essentially... or in other words, a Stand.
Ky: Yeah, Stands are pretty unique. Not everyone has these sorta phenomenon going on with them, and Johnny just so happened to unlock one on accident! Talk about fate...
Ukyo: Fate's a pretty strong thing in the story. Granted what was mentioned, Jesus himself comes to help the Joestar... you know, as he should. The original Saint had appeared to Johnny once, after having gotten to the seventh stage. Fighting through Stand users with sound monsters, hooks, and even dinosaurs, this development allowed him to further evolve his usage of Spin into it's second act- so you might think he's strong enough to pull through! ... But the enemy he faced was unique, having brought upon Johnny's past against him. Reflecting upon his story, he would be berated by his father, his youth, and the death of his brother- all of which came to him through the Stand of AXL ROw, Civil War.
Ky: But Civil War didn't mean much, see! You know, Johnny was constantly reflecting upon this- and was met with the same advice from the savior. He'd been told to hold off his shooting- which both meant as a way to avoid Axl Row, but also that if his heart were true, he would shoot something else... Yep! Himself!

Ky: BANG!
Ukyo: This was a good thing, actually!
Ky: Well, I mean, if you're suicidal, putting an end to everything might be a good thing... just a lucky guess, though!
Ukyo: That's- not what I mean. Or what he did. At all.
Ky: I tried it once myself, it was- wait... Did he not kill himself?
Ukyo: Exactly.
Ky: Wait, huh?! I wasn't paying attention...
Ukyo: Yes, yes. If you read, there was a special element to his bullet's usage to his lesson. This was the ability of the Golden Rotation that took him down a new path- a path that seems to transcend even space. Having shot himself imbued with the power of the 'Golden Ratio' of the Spin, he was able to close himself off in space to travel through what are essentially portals, allowing him to attack from many different directions!
Ky: Woah. So you're saying if I had the ability, I could basically sneak into like... a movie theatre? Or a hospital... like that that one guy!
Click. Ky is holding a gun to his head.
Ukyo: Not- necessarily.
Ky: That sucks! I guess it'll have to be one of those fancy nails... Do I gotta go to the desert? I mean- I will.
Ukyo sighs.
Ukyo: This upgraded Tusk to it's third act, maintaining all of the capabilities of its past selves.

Ky: Not only can it create these odd axis bullets, which spin into the smallest possible axis at their point forming a 'cone', but he can form these as homing projectiles that track enemies as shown in Act 2! These can travel through anything- like the ground, or trees, or people, or water! And combining that with his Act 3 logistics means he can basically create holes all around the battlefield to shoot you from.
Ukyo: This is true, but... it does come at the caveat of range, Johnny's only necessary point that could become a weakness if exploited. Since his holes do have a limited range of 10 meters, it's not a technique he can just have- especially when he can't just keep it up in a fight
Ky: Hey! That subtracts like, nothing from the coolness factor of creating drill bullets! That's like, such an awesome power... even though it wouldn't be too practical outside of combat.
Ukyo: Yeahhh... that's fair. That's why Johnny only lived until his late-20s... I'm sure that him having nail bullets surely was the reason why.
Ky: It literally was!! But that's spoiler territory. Johnny's travels allowed him to unlock his capability as he now went on one path, seeing through the true facade of the Steel Ball Run- which was the president's ultimate goal of making America the greatest nation in the world!!! ... By using the corpse of... Jesus Christ... to bless the nation with prosperity, deflecting all bad luck and misfortunate... to other places... with a golden barrier named after the O'Jay's song... Love Train. Am I reading that right?
Ukyo: Indeed. By using the Corpse parts of the Saint, the president Funny Valentine would have the power to bless his nation with the strength it surely needed to survive, which he'd use to deflect everything bad elsewhere so that we Americans would stand above the crowd!
Ky: Yeesh. Talk about overkill. Why don't you just use it to... I dunno. Stop inflation? I'm sure if you rubbed it like a genie it'd work like that.
Ukyo: Technically, not wrong. But Valentine's goals were suited towards the power of his nation- while he could've brought wealth, his factor was ultimate power that no other nation would be able to work against, allowing his world to thrive... which I'm sure a LOT of politicians aspire for, and Valentine was no different. After all, that's why he won over more than 90% of the election!
Ky: But- munch, munch. In order to truly defeat the president, our favorite jockey would have to take him on in a fight. Making his way alongside Gyro, Johnny faced against the president alongside his partner with the intention to obtain the Corpse Parts, refusing to back down from this fight!
Ukyo: Are- are those chips?
Ky: Yeah, pork skins. Wanna know why I'm eating pork skins?
Ukyo: Uh... why?
Ky: LOOK AT WHAT THEY DID TO THE PRESIDENT! He turns into 'em!

Ky: Not only does he become wri-
Ukyo: Right. Shush. Valentine's ability with the Corpse Parts allowed him to maintain an opening to a flat gap in space, one of which made it impossible to interact with the president. Combine this with a brutal stand ability used to dominate the two people who opposed him earlier, it made Valentine an immensely difficult target.
Ky: Yeah, yeah, not to mention that Love Train's ability basically warped all of space around it, not just closing that gap! The intersections of space basically caused everything to dilate internally- the oceans, the mountains, hell, the entire nation was being pulled in towards Valentine! Not to mention, you know... wounds.
Ukyo: Unfortunately, yes. This had made it increasingly difficult, essentially when- crunch.- you have wounds on your body. This nearly killed off Gyro and Johnny, which lead to the President taking a massive advantage over the two in this fight. And eventually, well...

Ky: Yeah, Gyro took his last stand against the president, attempting to save himself and his partner! Besides, it was a goal desperately important to the two- so he was able to tap into a once-in-a-lifetime technique... The Golden Rotation, a technique only passed through word of mouth in the Zeppeli family, and Johnny's final lesson. Although while Gyro DID do it...

Ky: Well, to say the least, it wasn't in vain for Johnny. For himself, however... well...
Ukyo: Unfortunately, while Gyro did not truly kill off Valentine as he intended, he left one last lesson for Johnny indirectly, past his golden rotation, past his redemption, past his self-sacrifice... His final lesson was to kill the President, and to unlock the Golden Ratio.
Ky: And I mean, not only is it a ratio in that sense, but it's a literal math concept! Of which Johnny used in the final fight against the president. By causing his horse to kick him off at the right speed, he was able to reach the 'perfect rotational energy'...

Ky: And with this, Johnny reached the magnificent, awesome, coolest form ever- Tusk Act 4.

Ukyo: Yes, yes. An impressive physical form for the normally unimpressive Stand, the fourth act of the Stand holds multiple capabilities. This ranges from phyiscal attacks which have become increasingly stronger, as well as the increased capabilities of all of its previous iterations- being able to travel through holes, space, and even physically draw itself into the flat-dimensional space of Love Train.
Ky: Don't forget it's greatest ability, the 'Infinite Rotation'! Accessed by the whole 'perfect rotational' energy shabang, Johnny can harness the power of gravity and empowers his Stand- which, although a concept unique to JoJo's, it can do stuff like bypass time-freezing capabilites 'cuz in JoJo... gravity is connected to time! Yes, it's really weird, but, you know, it's JoJo.
Ukyo: Johnny's Infinite Rotation, when applied to Valentine in tandem with the Stand's weakness to gravity manipulation, had actually prevented the Stand from working across dimensions and could constantly target Valentine due to bypassing his self-duplication, making it impossible for the President to flee in their final confrontation. In tandem with the ability to spin nearly every cell on your body, Valentine's Stand essentially was completely countered by Tusk Act 4- a perfect ending for the president.
Ky: Well, it wasn't the president's end! Since the president is a conniving bastard, Valentine was actually able to pull Johnny's former rival from an alternate universe after the jockey's own death, allowing him to leave one final opposition against the Joestar despite his apparent defeat.
Ukyo: Enter...

Ukyo: Diego Brando. Again.
Ky: BOOOOOORRRRRIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG!
Ukyo: I... I can't argue against that, honestly. After Johnny and Diego fought, the Stand alongside support from Lucy Steel with the original head of Diego Brando allowed the two to kill the Stand user, bringing an end to Johnny's need to fight.

Ky: Yeah, yeah. Anyways, once we look at Johnny overall, he's a really impressive guy! I mean... Being able to create a massive crater with your Stand isn't something everyone can do, and all of Johnny's Acts have shown their fair share of feats!

Ky: Since, you know, he can do a ton of ridiculous feats! As mentioned with the Soundman fight way earlier, he was able to shoot faster than sound projections in water... which is really consistent 'cuz he can shoot faster than a gun, and he's innately comparable to guys who can dodge gunfire themselves!
Ukyo: Assuming Johnny were to be equal or superior to most Stands of the part, granted his status as having the highest innate stats in the Part and his physical superiority to Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, he'd be at least comparative to characters like Oyecomova who can create building-sized explosives with his Stand.
Ky: As we talked about earlier, Johnny has displayed a ton of his own feats, too. His greatest showing comes from his fight with Soundman where he shot a bullet at Sandman which, despite missing, was able to blow apart a riverbank. That lands around a third of a ton of TNT- which if you wanted to compare to similar explosions would be enough to blow up a building on its own! Talk about consistency...
Ukyo: Unfortunately, despite Johnny's impressive lists of feats and those he'd be comparable to directly, he isn't all too perfect of a fighter and truthfully, in his own eyes, good even as a person.

Ukyo: After the death of Gyro, Johnny's life had seemed to worsen... having lost most of his close family, this event had worsened Johnny's trauma, and filled him with sorrow. But, on the other hand, the equestrian had also maintained the belief that he should pay his respects. This was ultimately Johnny's goal, knowing that he had a whole life ahead of him, and so he would make sure to keep his promise and push himself towards a better future... once he had finally been happy in his life, he was able to find the love of his life and wed into a wonderful family, locking away the corpse parts and seemingly now being able to move on from his time in the race.
Ky: Alas, it's not over yet! Despite Johnny's happiness, life always came negatively to him- and this hadn't been outta the ordinary. After his child was struck with a condition known as the 'rock disease'. This had forced Johnny to route back and steal the Corpse Parts from the government- I did that before!- fleeing across to Japan where he would use his... capabilities alongside the parts to form the idea of an 'equivalent exchange', taking the disease from his son but taking in the disease himself. Pretty philosophic, huh?
Ukyo: And as fate would have it, Johnny would have his skull crushed by a nearby Stand when he was knocked unconscious by the rock disease after shooting himself. However, this sacrifice was not in vain, as it would open up the gateway to potentially help his family... allowing his wife to take care of their child and ultimately having a true life. Johnny might have never had a fulfilling life to the fullest extent, but he had a great time when he was alive- bringing himself to ultimately raise his number from the bottom all the way to the top where he deserved, even if he didn't think so.
Ky: Sigh. You gotta love the guy for that. Killing the president certainly means a lot, just imagine if he was with us now.
Ukyo: DUDE--

Trivia[]
- The connections between Johnny Joestar and Altair Ibn-La'Ahad are...
- Both are rebellious, arrogant, mild-mannered yet highly prestigious horse-riding and (at first) anti-hero protagonists who originate from lineage-heavy storylines with science fantasy elements and mystical powers that come first in their timeline as the main protagonist of the story, being originally high-and-mighty youths who were seen at the top of their scales, being a part of a higher upper class due to their general notoriety and skill compared to all the rest. Despite their skill, these two grew up with constant dishonest love and were plagued by death in their youth which impacted their minds- leading to them being severely wounded (Johnny being shot in the back and Altair being stabbed in the gut) as a brutal effect of their immensely loud and rage-filled personalities, bringing the two onto a path of redemption where they aspired to physically and metaphorically rise back up the ranks where they once were, taking them on a mission across the region as a result of their positions. One of their most tragic aspects that they constantly reflected upon (believing it was their fault) came when they believed themselves to be responsible for the death of a loved one (Johnny's brother and Altair's lover) which their father (figure) berated them for, leading to their general mental downfall even as they intended on performing at their best, with Johnny trying his best to show his father he was worthy while Altair wanted to take revenge on those who killed his lover Adha.
- This also led to their relation to a tragic childhood rival- with Johnny rivalling Diego who intends to become powerful for the horrid past he lived with his family and aspiring to defeat him because it would've healed his relationship with his father, while Altair worked alongside Abbas due to his orders from Al Mualim to console and hide the truth of his friend's father's death. These two rivals were longstanding and carried over, filled with rage due to the events surrounding them- antagonizing them all the way until their bitter end due to the personalities they held.
- As mentioned, both were brought onto an extensive mission where they took trips across the region, completing objectives for the similarly high-and-mighty corrupt leader (Al Mualim and Funny Valentine) who was using this mission as a front to manipulate people, including the protagonist themselves who was a pawn that unwittingly followed under the trap set by the leader. Using this mission, these leaders sought out to bring immense power and growth to their own means- seeing it as a religious power aimed towards them that would make other people subservient both figuratively and directly. While Valentine is an explicit religious follower, following the story of the Saint's Corpse due to the connection of God and bringing it as the core of his philosophy in order to bring faith and order to his nation, Al Mualim opposes the ideas of the average follower, stating that the support given by the Gods- who he believed to have abandoned the Earth- was merely an illusion contained by the people when humans were betrayed eons ago, wanting to reveal the truth of the world with his power.
- Through their extensive mission they embraced techniques from the past that they desperately wanted to follow through with- having Altair originally abandon the values of the Creed out of his anger against his target Robert de Sable which lead to his downfall, and Johnny wanting to introduce himself to the Spin after first feeling its powers fix his legs that led to his emotional downfall when interacting with Gyro Zeppeli. As they developed these techniques, a unique contrast came with their weapons of choice- with Altair wielding the Hidden Blade causing him to cut off one of his fingers, while Johnny's main attack consists of his usage of his fingers shooting out nail projectiles.
- Both continued on their mission taking down anyone they were sent in their way- ranging from terrorists to murderers to mad doctors to war criminals that were blocking their path. In truth, these people were all under the leader's dominion, sent out or under his influence, with each target being knowledgeable of what they were looking for and doing. This led to the protagonists often exploiting these antagonists- both in power and ideology- constantly facing them in combat as they either died meaninglessly or left important messages for the protagonists to follow upon. Each time these protagonists reflected upon themselves, they became worse mentally, reflecting on the actions they once performed in the past.
- After finally opposing all of the men sent after them and in their way, these two eventually made their way in a final opposition against the true antagonist, being the original orchestrator that led to their story's beginnings. Despite the antagonist holding immensely higher power, the protagonists were both resistant to it to where it forced out a final direct conflict. With Johnny's development, he unlocked Tusk Act 4 despite Valentine's original outright resistance to direct combat, allowing him to both bypass all of Valentine's abilities as well as force Valentine to face him head-on. Similarly, Altair due to his Isu bloodline was able to resist the Apple of Eden alongside opposing Al Mualim's goals, leading to them facing one another head-on. However, because of this superiority, the protagonists took on and eventually killed the villain- ending their noble injustice. This was costly, though, as it left the closest people in their lives dead- all because of the antagonist. While Valentine directly murdered Gyro and used his murder as leverage to overpower Johnny's will, which he failed at, Al Mualim used the deaths of Altair's fellow brotherhood members that he forced him to kill via the Apple of Eden to leverage against him- which Altair resisted.
- This leads to the protagonist using the power after taking it from the hands of this villain- however it would later be taken by their longstanding rival- although this wasn't the same Diego- leading the protagonist to go after them across the familiar landscape they once travelled and oppose them. This leads to this villains defeat and finally closing out the story, at peace as they've reconstructed every value they held and became at peace despite the scars of their past.
- Because of their notoriety in being an equestrian / assassin, the protagonists now travelled across the world to spread their knowledge, with Johnny spreading the knowledge he held not just of horsemanship but of the 'strange fruit' he'd become keen on, and Altair now spread the goals of the Brotherhood, the knowledge he wrote down in thousands of books, and the 'strange designs' of weapons he'd made in his Codex across many areas. This ultimately leads to the protagonists looking over the results of their life having grown a family and atoned for their pasts having helped themselves form a new life.
- Because of this new life, the protagonists now held a keen value on protecting the original power they knew- with Johnny trusting the Corpse Parts through Lucy Steel and the Government while Altair had trusted his knowledge across people including his family and closest friends. However, they still wanted to protect their families, leading to them contrasting in their methods but nonetheless led to them being responsible for their own deaths as they ended their lives at peace. Johnny had broken into the vault of the Corpse Parts and, through the infinite rotation, shot his son as to bear the incurable curse brought by the world, leading to him incapacitating himself and being crushed by a boulder while making sure his future bloodline remained. On the other hand, Altair had created a vault in order to seal him, the Apple of Eden, and his final Codex away as to keep away the power that plagued his life from people until his future generation through Ezio had made his way into and discovered the skeletal remains of Altair alongside the Apple of Eden and his last memory. Their lives ended in tranquility because they understood what they had to do in order to make sure their families had wonderful lives, even when they had to sacrifice themselves as a result.
