~ Jigsaw's philosophy and most basic motive

Yes, I'm sick, officer. Sick from the disease eating away at me inside. Sick of people who don't appreciate their blessings. Sick of those who scoff at the suffering of others. I'm sick of it all!
~ John Kramer expressing his distaste for all

You think it's the living who will have ultimate judgement over you, because the dead will have no claim, over your soul. But you may be mistaken.

History[]

John Kramer was a man who had lost everything. He had been diagnosed with brain cancer stemming from colon cancer, and tried to kill himself, but he survived, and had learned the lesson of appreciating his life. He decides to pass this lesson to others by testing their will to live through a robust series of games that end with either life or death.

He even was married to nurse Jill Tuck, whom he sired an unborn child with, but as a result of an accident, Jill miscarried his son, Gideon, resulting in their divorce. When he died at SAW III, his legacy is passed on to his acolytes, who have sworn to pass his lesson of life to anyone who has wasted theirs on vice and sin. As a result, the police's investigation on him has often gone nowhere due to the works of corrupt police detective Mark Hoffman, who is revealed to be one of Jigsaw's cultists.
