Mario VS Sonic is the first episode of DEATH BATTLE! by RoadRollerDio, featuring Mario from Illumination's The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Sonic the Hedgehog from Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog movie series in a battle between film adaptations of Nintendo and SEGA's recognizable mascots.

- The connections between Illumination Mario and Paramount Sonic is that they're both the movie versions of the iconic originals. Both traveled to another world (The Mushroom Kingdom/Earth) and go on an adventure to find something important to them (Luigi/Sonic's rings) while being hunted by the main antagonists and their armies. Both of their stories end with them defeating the villain and becoming heroes.
