Ideon VS Evangelion is a Death Battle written in collaboration by DiAma1 and Zechs0079.
Interlude[]
Wiz: In Japan, the mecha genre is home to some of the most intense and powerful giant robots in fiction.
Boomstick: But what if mecha were more than just robots? What if they were also eldritch gods of destruction from ancient prophecies beyond human control?
Wiz: Like Ideon, the legendary giant god.
Boomstick: And Evangelion Unit-01, the harbinger of the Third Impact. He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skill, to find out who would win in a Death Battle!
Ideon[]
Evangelion Unit-01[]
Wiz: In the far future of... 2015... there was a boy named Shinji Ikari, son of the deadbeat Gendo Ikari.
Boomstick: See, the world was kinda shit for Shinji, but soon enough he got to meet his dad again! Only, it wasn't under the most fortunate of circumstances.
Wiz: The world was under attack from giant alien beings known as Angels, and Gendo had invented a giant robot called Evangelion Unit-01 capable of fighting them off. The issue was, only one person was able to pilot it: Shinji.
Boomstick: Well, there was also this girl named Rei, but she was a bit... incapacitated when an angel attacked. So Shinji was the second best choice to pilot it.
Wiz: The Evangelion is a powerhouse, standing at two-hundred feet tall and weighing a whopping sixty-two-thousand tons, it's capable of creating craters just by running and crossing miles in mere seconds.
Boomstick: Plus it has tons of weapons! Like the Progressive Knife, which, despite the name, is not a knife that wants universal healthcare. Instead, it's a massive blade large enough for the Evangelion to wield. It also has a handgun, a machine gun, and a pallet gun, which can shoot giant steel darts. All of these are, of course, waaay larger than their ordinary human-sized counterparts.
Wiz: Shinji's two greatest offensive weapons, however, are the Positron Sniper Rifle, which shoots using the power of the entire nation of Japan, and the Spear of Longinus, a legendary one-hundred-foot spear with two heads capable of being thrown at relativistic speeds!
Boomstick: You may think that just because Eva's strong it must be lacking in defense, but you'd be wrong! Shinji and the Evangelion are capable of generating an AT-field, which is a shield made out of the soul itself. The more in-sync the pilot is with their robot, the stronger the shield is!
Wiz: About that... Evangelion isn't exactly a robot. It's actually a giant cyborg monster made out of the soul of Shinji's dead mother.
Boomstick: Wait, what the fuck?
Wiz: Which is why Shinji is able to bond with Eva so much. They're literally mother and son. Their bond is so powerful that their AT-field was able to stop the angel Sahaquiel's landing impact, which has been calculated to be around 70 teratons of TNT.
Boomstick: So... he's able to fight angels by getting inside his mom?
Wiz: I know you're joking, but actually yes. Evangelion is quite a... Freudian... series.
Boomstick: Gross.
Wiz: Moving on! Shinji and the Eva are also able to use an Anti-AT-field, which neutralizes the AT-fields of angels and other Evangelion units.
Boomstick: When Shinji gets in trouble though, which happens a lot actually, his mom takes over and the Evangelion goes into a berserker state, breaking free from its armor and destroying everything in its path! The Evangelion isn't just a giant cyborg incest monster though. It's also a god, and it can do some pretty crazy stuff when it gets triggered.
Wiz: Like the time it triggered the Near-Third Impact, which almost wiped out all life on earth. Or when it tore its way out of the planet-sized hybrid of Lilith and Rei. Or the time it caused the prophesized Instrumentality event and turned every human being on earth into Orange Fanta. Or the time he fought his dad in the Anti-Universe and used the Spear of Gaius to reset the entire universe so that Evangelion never existed... Yeah it gets weird.
Boomstick: Despite that, Shinji and the Eva do have weaknesses. For one, Shinji's a pussy. There's no nice way to say it. He breaks down when things get tough and is just emotionally incapable of coping with the world he's in. Plus, the Eva has a limited power supply, meaning that if its wire gets cut, it will run out of energy quickly. This doesn't really apply to its god form, though.
Wiz: Despite it all, Shinji always pulls through, and nothing can stand in the way of the Evangelion.
Intermission[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities!
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
