Ichigo Kurosaki vs Yusuke Urameshi is a What if? Death Battle.
Description []
Ichigo Kurosaki the Substitute Shinigami versus Yusuke Urameshi the Spirit Detective only one of these spiritual warriors can win this battle!
Interlude []
Wiz: The Afterlife the place were the souls of the recently deceased or spiritually aware tend to thrive but of these souls two tend to stand out.
Boomstick: Ichigo Kurosaki the Substitute Shinigami
Wiz: And Yusuke Urameshi the Spirit Detective
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armor and skill in order to see who would win a Death Battle.
Note: Because the look of Ichigo's bankai hasn't been revealed yet his Dangai form was used till it is revealed in which case it will be replaced
Ichigo Kurosaki[]
Wiz: Ichigo was a normal 15 year old boy living in Karakura Japan except for one thing...
Boomstick: He could see ghost! Ichigo was born with an abnormaly high spiritual power letting him see spirits of all kind!
Wiz: This included Rukia Kuchiki a Shinigami of the 13 court guard squads and after their fate filled meating Ichigo became a Shinigami or Death God. As a Shinigami Ichigo has Super Strength is able to move so fast he appears to be disappearing and can survive insane amounts of damage.
Boomstick: Damn just look at that sword!
Wiz: That's a Zanpakuto or Soul Slayer, the primary weapon of the Shinigami in reality it isn't just a sword but a part of their soul each one having their own form based on the wielder, up until recently the true form of Zangetsu had been kept hidden from Ichigo by the manifestation of his Quincy powers.
Boomstick: Ichigo's Zanpakuto is Zangetsu a duel bladed constant release type capable of firing massive energy blast of destructive power!
Wiz: The Getsuga Tensho is Ichigo's primary attack by focusing his massive Reiatsu into his blade and then releasing it the moment he makes an attack he releases that reiatsu in an attack though he is not limited to just that. Ichigo has focused the Getsuga Tensho into a his blade in order to increase cutting force and has used it while stabbing the ground as an omni directional AOE attack.
Boomstick: Dang that's a versatile technique!
Wiz: Well it has to be, while the Getsuga Tensho is powerful it is Ichigo's only real attack besides Getsuga Jujisho which is just a more powerful version of Getsuga Tensho.
Boomstick: But he more than makes up for it with his raw strength and speed!
Wiz: Ichigo is easily one of the most powerful Shinigami to ever have existed being on the top of the speciel war powers list by Wandenreich leader Yhwach.
Boomstick: He is stronger than Kenpachi who had enough physical strength to shatter a continent destroying meteor, fast enough to easily counter lightning with his attacks and tough enough to tank something as powerful as Cero Oscuros back before he even unlocked his full power and he can even increase his defence further with Blut Vene.
Wiz: Thats not all if Ichigo requires even more power he can use his Bankai.
Boomstick: Ichigo's Bankai increases his stats immensely while he hasn't used his Bankai with his current Zanpakuto the last time he used it in a weaker form it allowed him to destroy huge swaths of land with a casual motion of his arm...WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING IT!
Wiz: Despit all his raw power Ichigo is not without weakness, he is overly honorable to some opponents even going so far as to offer Ulquiorra to cut off his arm and his leg due to his Hollow taking over, and while Ichigo is an extremely intelligent fighter when he wants to be deducting major aspects of moves in seconds he still tends to brute force his way through with Getsuga Tensho.
Boomstick: But will it be enough to beat the spirit detective Yusuke?
Yusuke Urameshi[]
Wiz: One day delinquent Yusuke Urameshi skipped class, but as a child wondered out in front of a car Yusuke stepped in and shoved the child out of the way.
Boomstick: Unfortunately he died!
Wiz: But because of his selfishness in life no one in the afterlife expected him to die, because of this he was offered to live once again after meeting a grim reaper named Boton, after coming back he became a spirit detective!
Boomstick: With his new powers Yusuke could start kicking major demon ass!
Wiz: Yusuke's signature move is the Spirit Gun, by focusing his spirit energy into his finger tip and pulling the trigger in his mind Yusuke can fire a powerful blast of energy which has been shown destroying Maki Mountains and tearing apart forest, but he is not limited to his Spirit Gun having many variants such as
Spirit Shotgun (A weaker spread shot version of his Spirit Gun)
Spirit Punch (A punch with the power of a Spirit Gun)
Spirit Wave (A full body version of Spirit Gun)
Boomstick: But the Spirit Gun isn't Yusuke's only tool, He is extremely tough able to tank hundreds of Sensui's large mountain shattering punches with little damage and can dish out just as much pain. And while speed isn't Yusuke's strongest stat he is easily faster than Heiei during the Dark Tournament who could run up and cut someone's limb off before their nerves responded!
Wiz- And while Yusuke didn't have access to it in the Manga in the anime he had access to his own personal version of sacred energy the most powerful energy type in Yu Yu Hakasho it increases his stats even more however he can also enter a powerful Demon World that gives him the strength of a dying Raizen!
Boomstick: Raizen as One of the Three Kings is one of the three most powerful demons in the Maki realm and while he is nowhere near the strength he has in his prime he was capable of killing Sensui while possessing Yusuke with one shot of the Spirit Gun.
Wiz: And much like Ichigo, Yusuke is actually a very intelligent fighter but prefers to let his strength do the talking over his brain.
Boomstick: But even with his immense strength will it be enough to fight Ichigo?
Fight[]
A hollow is seen chasing a small spirit of a girl on a street in the middle of Karakura as it appears that the creature will catch her it is immediately struck by Ichigo and Yusuke.
Yusuke: Hey buddy! That was my kill!
Yusuke begins to gather energy as if to issue a challenge causing Ichigo's eyes to widen at its strength.
Ichigo's thoughts: His spiritual pressure feels like a hollow!
Ichigo unsheathe's the larger sword on his back and flexes his own spiritual power as if excepting the challenge.
Ichigo: I don't know who you are but if its a fight you want, its a fight you'll get!!
FIGHT!
[Blazblue Chrono Phantasm OST: Blood Pain II]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1Wx4wb5CEM
Yusuke immediately charges up a spirit gun launching the blast immediately at Ichigo, the blast is still easy for Ichigo to react to he lightly swings his sword in front of him creating a shock wave that redirects the Spirit Gun into the air despite the display of strength Yusuke grins.
Yusuke: Alright so maybe your not a complete piss baby, but block this one! SPIRIT GUN!"
Yusuke fires another Spirit Gun at Ichigo with an increased amount of power compared to before, Ichigo quickly grabs the smaller blade on his hip and swings it in front of himself.
Ichigo: Getsuga Tensho!
Ichigo fired a low level Getsuga Tensho in order to counter the Spirit Gun, the two attacks collide exploding on impact destroying a large portion of the street and the buildings around them. Threw the smoke Ichigo uses Shunpo in order to take to the air. As soon as he recovered Yusuke slammed into him with his knee from the side forcing him to block with both Zangetsu's. Grinning Yusuke pointed his finger at Ichigo's face.
Yusuke: Take this SPIRIT GUN!
Right before the energy blast impacted with his face Ichigo used Shunpo to turn the direct hit to a glancing blow on his arm. The blast flew into the air creating a mountain sized explosion in the atmosphere.
Ichigo: What the hell this guy will destroy Karakura town by accident at this rate!
Yusuke landed on the ground and barely had enough time to see Ichigo charging from the sky both blades in hand, Yusuke gathered his spirit energy into his hands as Ichigo approached in order to defend himself his hand glowing he punched Ichigo's blade as he brought it down on Yusuke. Both combatants were thrown away from the force of the impact, recovering a little faster Ichigo used Shunpo to get near Yusuke and gain momentum but was met with Yusuke's fist. Which sent him flying into the air, quickly putting his Spiritual Pressure in front of him he managed to stop himself.
Yusuke: You through playing around yet!
Without answering Ichigo nodded shunpoing near Yusuke's side and swinging his blade vertically sending Yusuke flying outside Karakura's borders into a nearby mountain range slamming into a mountain didn't slow Yusuke down who jumped up in order to confront the flying Ichigo the two slammed into each other blue and red energy crackling over the mountain range as the entire area trembled.
Yusuke: Thats more like it!
Yusuke swung down his foot kicking Ichigo across the face and sending him into a plateau which collapsed and crumbled onto Ichigo.
Yusuke: THIS ENDS IT! SPIRIT GUN!
Yusuke began charging his Mega Spirit Gun however black energy erupted from the remains of the plateau sending the rubble flying in all directions.
Ichigo: Getsuga....TENSHO!!!!
Ichigo fired a Kuroi Getsuga at Yusuke who responded by firing his Mega Spirit Gun into it. The massive attacks collided creating a massive fire ball nearly as big as the mountain range itself the former range seemed to be reduced to a desert before Ichigo and Yusuke's power.
[Bleach OST: Destiny Awaits]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNxZsG1y888
Glaring at Ichigo, Yusuke began gathering his energy and combining his Demon and Spirit auras together creating his sacred energy tornado's began to form around him and lighting came from the sky.
Yusuke: AHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Looking on at the powering up Yusuke, Ichigo pointed the largest blade in front of himself.
Ichigo: Fine then, Ban...KAI!
Black energy flew out and slammed into the golden energy that Yusuke created as if both were fighting for dominance when the energy cleared and the dust settled Yusuke stood glowing with yellow energy, while Ichigo's duel swords had turned into one that was attached to a glove, a chain wrapped around his sleeveless arm. Yusuke charged at Ichigo who raised Tensa Zangetsu to defend punching the blade the ground behind Ichigo instantly vaporized itself, swinging side ways he attempted to cut Yusuke's chest though Yusuke flipped out of the way causing a large crag to form from the sword swing. Yusuke threw hundreds of punches at Ichigo each one blocked with Tensa Zangetsu the ground giving up from Yusuke's attacks shattered around them creating a crater kilometres wide, Yusuke was however forced back by the power of Ichigo's Bankai, breathing slightly from the attack he prepared for some form of counter attack.
Ichigo: It's over...Getsuga Jujisho...
Swinging his blade in front of him a cross shaped Getsuge Tensho was shot at Yusuke no time to dodge and unable to defend from such an attack the blast flew up into space leaving behind a bloodied and beaten Yusuke. Feeling his opponent defeated Ichigo turned around and prepared to walk away.
Ichigo: Next time don't pick a fight with someone you can't beat.
[YYH OST: Yusuke Powers Up]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rS0uZUOkHAw
Yusuke unable to move cursed how weak he felt at the moment.
Raizen: You don't know how to use your power let me show you!
Red energy began flying from Yusuke's body as the ground cratered further, his hair grew to below his waist and turned white with tattoos appearing all over his body. Yusuke flew at Ichigo at speeds he hadn't demonstrated before causing Ichigo's eyes to widen in unprepared shock. Punching Ichigo he sent him flying across the country side into a nearby forest tearing up the ground and trees as Ichigo dragged across the ground.
Ichigo: This speed and power what's going on?
Appearing behind him Yusuke kicked him into the air causing Ichigo to cough up large amounts of blood, not letting up Yusuke vanished from sight slamming him into the ground causing the forest to begin collapsing in on itself not letting up he fired a volley of Spirit Gun blast at Ichigo causing massive explosions and heavily burning his left arm. Dashing down to Ichigo he picked him up by the throat lifting him into the air.
Yusuke/Raizen: It's over now!
[Bleach OST: Stand Up Be Strong]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfA_-XkIpBQ
Ichigo: Is it? Is this all you got?
Swinging Tensa Zangetsu he broke Yusuke's grip on him causing a shock wave that pushed over some of the nearby trees.
Ichigo: Your strong so I'm going to end this now, I'll show you....my Final Getsuga Tensho.
Black and blue energy erupted around Ichigo the wind caused Yusuke/Raizen to cover their face when they looked at Ichigo he had changed, He also had long hair only it was black and he had wrappings around his body and the arm were his sword used to be.
Yusuke/Raizen: What the hell is this! This power! It's beyond even an S Class!
Ichigo: The Final Getsuga Tensho is me...
Gathering his spiritual energy into his hand he swung his arm down.
Ichigo: Mugetsu.....
The pitch black mass of energy cut into Yusuke/Raizen in an instant his eyes widened he began disintegrating silently before the energy calmly dissipated.
K.O
Ichigo's Final Getsuga Tensho fades away.
Results[]
Boomstick: Oh man was that close.
Wiz: While Yusuke is physically stronger than Sensui who destroyed an exceptionally durable plateau and while it is made of an extremely durable material it is unquantifiable tougher than regular earth, we also can't get a good estimate of its size so we can only assume its as big as an average mesa, its also the best feat in Yu Yu Hakasho meaning he can't be scaled that much higher. Ichigo on the other hand is stronger than Kenpachi who shattered a meteor that was nearly as big as the Court of Pure Souls, given Yoruichi's statement that it would take 10 days to walk from gate to gate even if we subtracted 8 hours a day for sleep and assumed they walked at the average walking speed of 3.1 miles per hour it would still make the Court of Pure Souls bigger than the state of Texas making the meteor that Kenpachi destroyed much bigger and more impressive than the Mesa Sensui destroyed the fact that Ichigo is stronger than Kenpachi was the deciding factor.
Boomstick: And while Yusuke may have shown that he can take nearly as much punishment as Ichigo he just can't dish it out on the same calibur that Ichigo can, Ichigo also just has better speed feats than Yusuke made even more impressive by Soul Societies massive size.
Wiz: The winner is Ichigo
Next time on Death Battle[]
Clare (Claymore) vs Saber (Fate/Stay Night)
Description[]
Bleach vs Yu Yu Hakusho. Shonen Jumps two delinquent heroes with mighty spiritual powers are ready to throw down. It's time for the Substitute Shinigami to take on the Spirit Detective and only one is walking away.
Interlude[]
MegaSonic: Yu Yu Hakusho. Bleach. Two of the most iconic manga series of all time. And today Shonen Jump’s two most iconic spiritually empowered delinquent heroes go head to head to determine who is Manga’s king of demon slaying.
Sharaku: Ichigo Kurosaki, the Substitute Shinigami.
MegaSonic: Yusuke Urameshi, the Spirit Detective.
Sharaku: My name is Sharaku Jr., and he’s MegaSonicZX.
MegaSonic: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a DEATH BATTLE!
Ichigo Kurosaki[]
Sharaku: Imagine living in a world filled with ghosts that could bite your head off if they’re left alone for too long. You literally could be doing nothing at all and get trampled by a big invisible monster called a Hollow. Welcome to the world of Bleach! Where everyone has absurdly large kitchen knives for swords and have ten thousand transformations based on every tiny blood cell in their body that happens to be different.
MegaSonic: Thankfully for the common innocents, the Hollows are kept in check by an invisible race of human souls hailing from the afterlife known as Shinigami. It’s a Shinigami’s duty to travel to the human world and kill Hollows, as Hollows are corrupted human souls, and so killing them serves the twofold duty of purifying the Hollow and keeping them from senselessly killing human souls. This cycle has existed in secret to the wider world for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Until the day a certain ginger haired teenager with a knack for seeing ghosts came along. This is Ichigo Kurosaki.
Sharaku: Ichigo was an ordinary everyday guy, minus the seeing ghosts fact. His mom unfortunately died when he was little due to a chance encounter with one of these Hollows. Poor bastard didn’t even understand the context behind these ghosts until years later when he was a teenager, where he crossed paths with Rukia Kuchiki.
MegaSonic: Death and the Strawberry, a meeting that would forever change the destiny of the world. Rukia, a Shinigami, had been hunting a Hollow that just so happened to be stalking around Ichigo’s home. When she got injured, however, there was only one option. Rukia would transfer a portion of her Shinigami powers into Ichigo, enough for him to fight the Hollow off. Instead, however, Ichigo ended up absorbing all of Rukia’s power. Well, it DID get the job done, Ichigo killed the Hollow, sooooo…task failed successfully?
Sharaku: Which one of us is gonna talk about tiny Rukia?
MegaSonic: Nope, not me.
Sharaku: Search at your own risk.
MegaSonic: Right, well, as it turned out, Ichigo was a natural at being Soul Reaper, because in a sense, he already was one. To make a long story short, Ichigo’s father, Isshin, was a former Shinigami, and his mother Masaki was a Quincy, a living human who could harness and use Reshi. This resulted in Ichigo’s having a massive amount of Reiryoku that rivaled that of far more experienced Shinigami.
Sharaku: Reiryoku is basically spiritual power that Shinigami use for their special abilities, and Reshi is naturally occurring spiritual matter which makes up Reiryoku. I hope we haven’t fried your brains yet. I mean, we haven’t even gotten to… him.
MegaSonic: When becoming a Shinigami, Ichigo’s soul leaves his body for a form composed of Reshi, which makes him invisible to living people who don’t have a high enough level of Reiryoku, however he is still tangible and remains a part of the mortal world. As such, he can still physically interact with people, cars, buildings, and cause loads of collateral damage. He also gains his iconic sword, a Zanpaktou! Each Shinigami has a Zanpakuto spirit, which they channel into their respective swords to unleash higher states of power and combat Hollows.
Sharaku: Fun fact, these swords would be fucking gigantic if they didn’t surpress their energy fully. Imagine fighting with two swords the size of office buildings. Fight choreography wouldn’t be the most practical, but it’d be fucking awesome regardless. Fortunately for the Shinigami, they choose actual function over style.
MegaSonic: That’s actually why Ichigo’s Zanpakuto is known for being, well, an oversized steak knife; a lack of proper control. Still, he’s perfectly effective with it in battle, so I suppose don’t fix what ain’t broke. Ichigo’s main fighting skills rely on instinct and improvisation less than actual honed training, which is surprisingly effective. He’s kept up with far more experienced Shinigami in battle just on sheer instinct alone, which goes hand in hand with his raw power.
Sharaku: Initially, Ichigo was just using these abilities to handle Rukia’s duties of fighting the occasional Hollow, but that all changed when Rukia was arrested by the Shinigami and taken back to the Soul Society to be executed, and Ichigo was left with his Zanpakuto broken and his spirit crushed. But that only furthered his resolve to go save his friend, and after some training with old hat n’ clogs Kisuke Urahara, Ichigo awoke to his sort-of-true Shinigami powers and unlocked his Zanpakuto’s Shikai State: Zangetsu…both of them, actually.
MegaSonic: Right, Ichigo actually has two Zanpakuto Spirits. The long-bearded Zangetsu who often acts all mentory is the manifestation of Ichigo’s Quincy side, while White-Zangetsu is a mixture of his Shinigami and Hollow Powers Ichigo got due to his mother being possessed by a Hollow named White. Unfortunately, Shinigami and Quincy go together about as well as oil and water.
Sharaku: Well, it ain’t anime without inner conflict with your own personal demons. Sometimes quite literally. But more on that in a bit. You can imagine Ichigo’s gifted with some incredible things thanks to his very… muddled heritage.
MegaSonic: Being a third Shinigami, a third Quincy, and a third Hollow often meant Ichigo’s powers were in a bit of a flux, and his latent potential only came out under stressful and dire situations. Still, unlocking Zangetsu’s Shikai was the first step into mastering his powers, and with it he gained access to what is basically his Kamehameha; the Getsuga Tenshou! Aka, a giant fuck-you sword beam!
Sharaku: Actually, that reminds me of another suspiciously voiced swordsman with a gigantic sword laser.
MegaSonic: Funny how that works. In other matters, however, Ichigo also eventually learned how to manipulate the natural Reshi in the world around him to use as aerial footholds, basically letting him simulate flight without actually learning how to fly, as well as learning and eventually mastering the Shinigami technique known as Shunpo, or Flash Step, to grant himself a quick burst of speed and overwhelm an opponent.
Sharaku: Strap in folks, because if you thought Ichigo’s heritage was confusing, you haven’t seen anything yet! See, when Ichigo first became a Shinigami, his sword started in its sealed state, to reflect he hadn’t awoken its spirit yet. When he first awoke the Zangetsu’s, that’s when he got the original oversized steak-knife we all know and love. That’s what’s known as a Shikai, the first of two awakened Zanpakuto forms.
MegaSonic: To increase his power from that, Ichigo had to endure three days of grueling training to achieve the state of Bankai, the ultimate sign of mastery for Shinigami, which boosts his power output by ten times, which he used to defeat Byakuya Kuchiki and save Rukia from being executed, though this turned out to be a ploy by Sosuke Aizen to gain the Hōgyoku, whom Ichigo would have to set his sights on defeating from then on out.
Sharaku: This Aizen dude looks like a nerd, but appearances are deceiving. This dude is so absurdly good at making secret plans and baiting his enemies right into his own hands, I’d be hard pressed not to call him a master baiter.
MegaSonic: Part of Ichigo’s quest to defeat Aizen involved him being able to further powerup when he puts on his Hollow Mask, which originally came about by White possessing his body, and it was something he liked to do fairly often, especially when Ichigo was in a dangerous fight.
Sharaku: I mean I don’t blame him, can you imagine having someone take over your body like that?
MegaSonic: To tame his inner Hollow, Ichigo trained with the Visored, a group of fellow Shinigami with Hollow powers, to gain control of White. After the two fought, White came to accept Ichigo’s strength and allow Ichigo to naturally merge his Hollow powers into his Bankai, allowing him to match the Arrancar Grimmjow in battle. Much like how the Bankai is a ten times boost over the Shikai, added on his Hollowfication is likely only a five times boost over his Bankai, since it resulted in a similar buff to other Shinigami like Toshiro Hitsugaya and Renji Abari removing their own limiters, which granted them a times five power increase.
Sharaku: These abilities would prove useful when Ichigo, alongside a few others, ventured into Hueco Mundo in order to save his friend Orihime. By the way, that’s Spanish for Hollow Earth, and the place is basically a big spirit desert where Hollows reside between the Soul Society and the regular human world.
MegaSonic: The fighting in Hueco Mundo to save Orihime pushed Ichigo to and beyond his limits at the time, and he finally managed to defeat Grimmjow in a rematch for the ages after two prior failures. This was followed shortly after by Ichigo’s battle with Ulquiorra, the 4th Espada under Aizen’s service. This fight…did not go well for Ichigo. At all. In fact, the only reason he survived was because White possessed him and turned him into a Hollow for the second half of that fight, and promptly beat Ulquiorra himself.
Sharaku: Hey, we take those. From here, Ichigo had to get a grip on his Hollow powers for the last time, since while Ichigo was fighting Ulquiorra, Aizen was enacting his plan to merge with the Hyogoku and take over the world. So, Ichigo’s dad took him into the Dangai, which is basically the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Here, Ichigo battled his two Zangetsu spirits merged together one last time, finally becoming one with them as they reached an understanding. Ichigo wanted the strength to protect his friends, and Zangetsu only ever wanted to protect Ichigo.
MegaSonic: With this new understanding reached, Ichigo learnt his most powerful technique, the Final Getsuga Tenshou. By merging his Zanpakuto into his body and becoming Getsuga itself, Ichigo channels it all into one final attack called Mugetsu that completely destroys everything in its path. It’s a surefire technique that can take out anyone in his path... and also drains all of his powers permanently. Though it’s worth mentioning that before he used the Mugetsu, his post-Dangai training Bankai allowed him to casually shatter mountains with his raw Reiatsu.
Sharaku: And after a whole ordeal involving shenanigans about the Fullbringer with Ichigo… whatever the fuck that was all about… Rukia was able to use a special sword to reawaken the tiny bit of his remaining Shinigami powers. Nothing like getting shanked by your best friend. Are we sure this isn’t taking place in Ohio?
MegaSonic: Ichigo then kicked the ass of Kūgo Ginjō, the guy who stole his Fullbring powers in the first place. And while in this new form, his Shikai’s normal swings were as strong as the Getsuga Tenshou was before! Ichigo seemed stronger than ever, and he was...until his new power’s got crushed by his ultimate enemy; Yhwach, who completely destroyed his Zanpakuto. Luckily for Ichigo, since that Zanpakuto was still based on his powers he absorbed from Rukia, Ichigo was able to get his true Zanpakuto forged for him…or rather, two. Two blades, to finally, fully balanced the Shinigami, the Hollow, and the Quincy.
Sharaku: He even gained a few new techniques around this time, like the Quincy ability Blut Vene, which reinforces his body to increase his defense and lessen blood-loss from bleeding wounds.
MegaSonic: And when he merges his two Shikai Zangetsu together, Ichigo enters his True Bankai, which he can merge with his Hollow form signified by a horn on his head, and gains access to the Hollow’s ultimate ability: The Gran Ray Cero, which he can even merge with his Getusga Tenshou! Ichigo was so-unbelievably powerful that he was strong enough to nearly one-shot Yhwach and would have won...Had Yhwach not been able to see and rewrite the future with The Almighty and used that ability to simply break Ichigo’s Bankai again, though this time not permanently.
Sharaku: How the fuck…? Cheap-ass bitch.
MegaSonic: Still, Ichigo being able to overpower Yhwach with his True Bankai means he scales to him, and Yhwach was capable of separating the barriers between the Human World, The Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo, a feat like this would require an energy of over 140 Zettatons of TNT. And keep in mind, True Bankai Ichigo nearly one shot Yhwach, so he’s probably even stronger than that.
Sharaku: Plus, by the end of the series Ichigo’s pretty easily able to hit near Light Speed in just his Shikai. Hell, other character’s we know to be weaker than Ichigo have dodged light beams before. Plus, Yhwach could move around four times faster than light, and Ichigo should definitely be comparable to that.
MegaSonic: And with all that power and speed, Ichigo was able to use the inner-core of his broken True Bankai, which just-so happened to take the form of his very original Shikai, and finally put Yhwach down for good. With the day saved and his journey to complete himself finished, Ichigo was finally able to settle down, get married, and even have a son. And he lived happily ever after…until his son Kazui became a Shinigami too.
Sharaku: Dunno whether to congratulate him or to be sorry.
MegaSonic: Oh, and now he has to fight hell… eventually.
Ichigo: "If fate is a millstone, then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the wheel, then give me a strong blade, and enough strength... to shatter fate."
Yusuke Urameshi[]
Sharaku: Yusuke Urameshi was your average, fourteen-year old middle school delinquent with a heart of gold. That is, until the most important day of his life snuck up on him. And by that, I mean he was hit by a car and he actually just fuckin’ died. Good start!
MegaSonic: Specifically, after blowing off his only friend Keiko and skipping school for the day, Yusuke met a kid who could not have been older than seven playing with a ball on the side of the road. Despite giving the kid a very clear warning to be careful with his ball, the kid still dropped it straight into running traffic and went blindly running in after it.
Sharaku: Kids. They never listen.
MegaSonic: And so, Yusuke did the only thing he could; throw himself in the way to save the kid’s life at the cost of his own. Funny thing was, according to the laws of the universe, the kid would’ve been fine, and Yusuke basically died for nothing. Luckily for him though, the shinigami Botan and the ruler of Spirit World Koenma offered him an ordeal. If he could prove he was a good person to a spirit beast egg, he’d be given a second chance at life.
Sharaku: After doing several good deeds, helping people around his neighborhood as a phantom, he was able to reclaim his body after his house almost burned down. With that, Yusuke was cemented as the planet’s Spirit Detective, and defends the Earth against demons who threaten to attack it.
MegaSonic: Yeah, funny thing. It turns out that by dying, Yusuke’s soul was attained with high amounts of spirit energy, allowing him to fully and freely manipulate it even after coming back to life. With this, Yusuke has a heightened awareness for spiritual beings like demons that cannot normally be seen by the human eyes. And in a matter of days, Yusuke had managed to weaponize his Spirit Energy into his now iconic technique, the SPIRIT GUN! It’s basically his Kamehameha.
Sharaku: This would also be around the time where he met the mysterious Hiei, a demonic wandering swordsman who would become Yusuke’s greatest rival for years to come. He’s also the reason we have Sasuke Uchiha today! Funny how that works out.
MegaSonic: Alongside the ever popular Hiei were two other demonic criminals, the malicious Gouki and the equally mysterious Kurama, the three of them having stolen some special artifacts. While Yusuke had absolutely no problem blasting Gouki’s fucking head off, it turned out Kurama, despite being a demon, just wanted to save his human mother, and Yusuke was just kind enough to help him do that without demonic sacrifice. With two of the three Plot Mcguffians in hand, Yusuke faced his first true test against his soon to be rival.
Sharaku: It was tough, but ultimately Yusuke would gain the upper hand and snatched a victory against Hiei thanks to some quick thinking by reflecting a Spirit Gun shot off of a mirror behind his foe. The guy probably didn’t even know that was how it even functioned. But hey, do whatever works.
MegaSonic: With his first successful mission, Yusuke was sent to the compound of the psychic master Genkai, who would train him to properly master his spirit energy and teach him her famed technique, the Spirit Wave. After a mini-tournament, featuring some cameos from a bunch of Street Fighter characters, Yusuke’s friendly rival Kuwabara learning how to make a laser sword, and Yusuke defeating a demon named Rando by getting his ears plugged with moss, no I didn’t just make that up, Yusuke had officially become Genkai’s student. And a vaguely allotted amount of time later, he’d pretty drastically improved his abilities.
Sharaku: Yusuke basically became a better fighter in every single way after his training with the old lady. His strength easily exceeded human capabilities, and he gained a greater control over Spirit Energy.
MegaSonic: See, at first, Yusuke only had enough spirit energy to use the Spirit Gun once per day because he didn’t have proper energy control, and focusing on energy control was a huge part of Genkai’s training. By the time their training session was over, not only did Yusuke no longer have this limitation, he could turn his Spirit Gun into a shotgun blast to take out crowds of opponents all at once. That, combined with his natural affinity for throwing hands, made him the perfect one for the role of Spirit Detective.
Sharaku: Speaking of throwing hands, Yusuke can also enhance his own physical strikes with Spirit Energy with the Spirit Punch, and he can even surround his entire body with the stuff to basically be one massive human projectile with the Spirit Wave. Though, it should be noted that while this move is powerful, it can also heavily drain the guy and takes intense concentration to pull off.
MegaSonic: All of this would be more than mandatory when Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei were forced into competing in the the Dark Tournament, and Yusuke had to fight some of the most dangerous demons in all the land, like this Australian guy, or this irish guy. Or roided out Arnold Schwarzenegger- I mean the Younger Toguro Brother. Yeah, that guy.
Sharaku: What the hell is up with that man’s bone structure?
MegaSonic: Dude, that man’s bones are practically non-existent. Don’t even get me started on his brother. Demon-roids, not even once.
Sharaku: This family’s got some wack genes.
MegaSonic: After defeating Toguro’s “100% beyond 100%” power and winning the Dark Tournament, things seemed like they were finally looking up for Yusuke. He had made some new friends, life was peaceful…until he got kidnapped by some assholes, which turned out to just be a lesson from Genkai, and everything was actually fine…nah I’m pulling your leg again, ah, this asshole Sensui showed up plotting to hope a hole to the demon realm from Earth so he could gain the mysteriously powerful Sacred Energy. And when Yusuke tried to take Sensui on…he died. Again.
Sharaku: But turns out, dying was just the thing the dude needed to awaken the ultimate potential hiding inside of him. Yusuke was able to revive himself through his special blood, the blood of the strongest Demon Clan in history, the Mazoku. Specifically, this blood comes from his ancestor Raizen, who had a child with a human woman. And like any anime power up, Yusuke became absurdly stronger upon awakening this hidden aspect.
MegaSonic: With his Mazoku form, Yusuke can now actively call upon Demon Energy in battle, bolstering the power of his Spirit Gun into the much more powerful Demon Gun, and also generally bolstering Yusuke’s power to that of an S-Class fighter, the top tier of all fighters in the world of Yu Yu Hakusho. But even Mazoku power wasn’t enough for Yusuke to beat Sensui, not without his ancestor Raizen possessing Yusuke to grant him the last bit of power needed to win the fight…but also forcing Yusuke to kill Sensui to do so, something Yusuke really wasn’t thrilled about.
Sharaku: At this point, Yusuke was absurdly powerful, and the Great Emperor Enma wanted him on ice due to how dangerous he could potentially be. One wrong push and he could potentially become another Sensui. As such, Yusuke was removed from his post as Spirit Detective for a bit, and finds himself struggling with his own identity.
MegaSonic: That was, until Raizen himself offered Yusuke a chance to meet him in the demon world. While Yusuke was initially fully planning on clobbering his ancestor for interrupting his fight with Sensui, he instead came to learn Raizen was dying, as the demon had abandoned eating humans long ago. After training with one of Raizen’s closest subordinates for a year, the elder demon had passed away, leaving the fate of the Demon World in Yusuke’s hands. And Yusuke Urameshi did exactly what you’d expect him to do…he solved it with a tournament. Whoever wins becomes king of the Demon Realm.
Sharaku: And Yusuke would go head to head with the powerful Yomi. During the climax of their fight, they created a massive pillar of kinetic force that reached to around 285 zettatons of TNT. But, since they were both putting their all into that attack, we can halve that number to get 142 zettatons, Yusuke’s maximum output. And as for the speed of the attack, we can conclude it’s around 170,180,450 meters-per-second, well into the relativistic speed range.
MegSonic: How did Yusuke manage that you may ask? With Sacred Energy, achieved by merging his Human Spirit Energy and Mazoku Demon Energy together, and adding in a bit of “I fight for my friends” as well, Yusuke managed to tap into the power of Sacred Energy, letting match Yomi in power, even if he ultimately lost the fight. This fight also proves Yusuke has endurance for days, and I’m not exaggerating either, because their fight lasted SIXTY HOURS! That’s two and a half days worth of fighting. Holy shit.
Sharaku: And for you poor manga-only fans, you had to settle with an off-screen fight with a decided outcome because apparently, Togashi’s managers didn’t know about something. It’s a rather new and unique concept called “human rights”.
MegaSonic: While Yusuke didn’t become ruler of the Demon World, the demon who did, Enki, ushered in a new age of peace between Earth, Spirit World, and the Demon World. And after one last adventure with his old team solving a hostage crisis in Spirit World, because some people just really hate peace apparently, Yusuke would settle down with Keiko and the two of them started a ramen booth together. The perfect happily ever after for the delinquent with a heart of gold.
Yusuke: “Nothing as trivial as a violent death or a few drops of demon blood mixed in with mine is going to keep me from helping out my friends and saving the world, and kicking the bad guy's ass."
DEATH BATTLE![]
Sharaku: Alright the combatants are set, let’s end this debate once and for all.
MegaSonic: It’s time for a DEATH BATTLE!!!!
// Spirit World - Soul Society\\
It was, surprisingly, an average day in the afterlife, as all the world ending threats had decided to take the day off. At least, that was what Koenma, new ruler of Spirit World, figured, as he sat at his desk with his mound of paperwork. Grumbling to himself, he tossed a stack of papers to the side, finishing off with signing them. He slapped his face out of sheer frustration. Every day was ironically enough, one big hell.
Koenma: Oh, all this paperwork. I’m the ruler of the spirit world and I’m still stuck deciding who gets a nice afterlife and who goes to hell…
Jorge: Sir! We’ve still got about 40,000 listed for eternal punishment!
Koenma: 40,000!? Oh, I can’t take it anymore! I need something to keep me entertained!
At that moment, a brilliant idea appeared in Koenma’s head.
Koenma: Ogre, quick, go get Byakuya Kuchiki! And go find Botan while you’re at it! I just had a brilliant idea.
Jorge: Koenma Sir, I do hope this idea doesn’t backfire on us.
- 10 minutes later*
The doors to Koenma’s office fly open as Byakuya Kuchiki, Captain of the 6th Squad of the Gotei 13, steps forwards. As the nobleman eyes the mound of paperwork, and then Koenma himself, a feeling of dread slowly washes over Byakuya, one which he hides through his composure.
Byakuya: Koenma. Are you adjusting to your new duties well?
Koenma: No! They’re boring, boring, boring! All I’ve done lately is decide who goes to the Soul Society and who gets damned to hell forever!
Byakuya: Yes, well, as ruler of all the Soul Society, that is your duty.
Koenma: And I want a break! I dug through your old reports, and I want to meet Ichigo Kurosaki!
There was that feeling of dread again. Nothing good ever came from involvement with Ichigo Kurosaki.
Byakuya: And what sort of business would you have with him?
Koenma: You see, I’ve got an old Spirit Detective, one who I bet could give Ichigo a run for his money!
Byakuya: …so you want to see them fight? For fun?
Koenma: Exactly! Can you send someone to go get Ichigo?
Byakuya, internally: “…this is going to end in a disaster.”
- 20 minutes later - Seireitei Dojo*
A fist flies through the air as Yusuke Urameshi, the famed Spirit Detective, throws a few jabs as he hops back and forth on his feet, warming up for the battle ahead of him. As he does, his friends Hiei, Kuwabara, and Kurama, stand off to the side, the group there for moral support more than anything else. Well, not Hiei.
Yusuke: So, what do you guys think?
Hiei: I think this is a waste of time.
Kuwabara: Yeah, cuz Urameshi’s gonna kick this guy's ass!
Kurama: I wouldn’t be so sure. Shinigami wields an extraordinarily powerful Zanpakuto, and this Kurosaki fellow supposedly wields one of the strongest of them all.
Yusuke: Cool, I might have an excuse to go all out then. Hey, Hiei! Maybe after this is over, you and I can go a round or two.
Hiei: Don’t be ridiculous. This is hardly the place for one such as myself to…they’re here.
As Hiei suddenly looks towards the west entrance, the rest of the group looks over after him as the door opens, and Byakuya Kuchiki walks in along with his Lieutenant, Renji Abarai, as well as his younger sister, Captain of Squad 13, Rukia Kuchiki. And of course, the Substitute Shinigami, Ichigo Kurosaki.
Ichigo: This is ridiculous. I can’t believe some toddler gets to strongarm me into fighting just because he’s bored! How the hell does someone like him get a leadership position around here?
Renji: It sucks that we agree there. I can’t stand the little runt myself.
Rukia: Can you two not be so disrespectful for five minutes!? Especially when we’re already here!?
Ichigo: You aren’t the boss of me pint size-
Suddenly pausing mid-sentence, Ichigo’s attention suddenly snaps away as he looks across the room, his eyes locking onto Yusuke. For a moment, he just stares, and Yusuke stares back at him as he slides his hands into his pockets.
Yusuke: You gonna keep staring? Or you gonna chicken out on me now?
Ichigo: Oh, don’t worry. I wouldn’t dream of it.
Reaching back, Ichigo draws Zangetsu from his back and clutches the two-handed claymore in his hand as Rukia, Renji, and Byakuya take a stance towards the back of the dojo, standing beside the other group. Across the hall, Koenma it's in his chair, a smirk shining through his pacifier with both Jorge and Botan by his side.
Koenma: See Ogre, this is gonna be great!
Jorge: I don’t know sir…I got a bad feeling about this.
Botan: Alright Yusuke, break a leg out there!
The two fighters stand across from each other as Yusuke cracks his knuckles and grins, his eyes again lock with Ichigo, but this time, a fiery determination glimmers into them both. Perhaps fate brought them here. Perhaps a fluke of luck.
Yusuke: So, you going to make the first move?
There was no use dwelling on that now. Fate or not, it didn’t matter…
Ichigo: By all means, come at me anytime you like.
After all, there can only be one winner.
In a flash, both Ichigo and Yusuke rocket across the room from their starting positions, meeting each other in the center of the dojo in a second. Yusuke throws a punch, Ichigo swings his sword, and they clash.
FIGHT!
Yusuke dove in with a second punch, which Ichigo blocked with his sword. The simple impact of this action shook the room as they began to go at it. Their movements became nearly undetectable, even to most of the heavily trained eyes of the spectators. Dodging, weaving, slashing and punching, the fighters moved in blurs of black and green as the force of several miniature shockwaves rang across the room.
Kuwabara: Man, they’re gunning for it from the start, huh?!
Hiei: No, this is just the warmup.
Renji: This is the warm up? I almost can’t imagine what them getting serious will be like then?
Ichigo suddenly leaps backwards, tightly gripping the hilt of Zangetsu as he used Shunpo to rocket across the dojo and appear in front of Yusuke, swinging his sword full tilt to slam it into Yusuke’s gut before heaving upwards to throw the Spirit Detective into the air. But as Ichigo leaps up after him, Yusuke suddenly grins and draws his hand back, and then throws a punch that sends a shock wave out that blasts Ichigo straight back towards the ground.
Ichigo: What-? How did he do that?
Yusuke: Surprised? Meet my Spirit Wave!
Drawing his hand in, Yusuke suddenly throws his fist forwards as waves of Spirit Energy fly out, rocketing across the room. In an instant, Ichigo swings his sword to counter the Spirit Wave, but the force of the impact recoils against his arms. He hadn’t properly braced himself, and the result threw him backwards and ripped his sword from his hands.
Yusuke: Let’s see what you can do without that meat cleaver!
Yusuke closes the distance between them in a second, drawing his hand back and throwing a solid punch straight for Ichigo’s jawline, when Ichigo suddenly shoots his left hand up to block Yusuke’s punch before drawing his second, shorter Zanpakuto blade and swinging, Yusuke having the reaction time to launch off his heel and avoid getting cut by the second blade.
Ichigo: Trust me, I’m full of more surprises than you could ever imagine.
Yusuke: Is that right now? Gonna show me how to cut some steak or something?
Ichigo: Not exactly!
Spinning his short blade in hand, Ichigo flashed forwards and swung the blade around, Yusuke raising his right arm to block it before he matches Ichigo’s hypersonic speeds with his own, throwing a few jabs out that Ichigo blocks before he suddenly disappears behind Yusuke, the scraping of metal on the floor altering Yusuke to turn around as Ichigo picks up his primary blade off the ground, and give a smirk as a shining blue aura of Reiryoku lights up around it as the pressure of his Reastu starts raising.
Kuwabara: Woah-woah-woah-WOAH!
Kurama: Fascinating. He’s focusing his Spirit Energy into the blade as an extension of himself. This attack…it’s not one Yusuke can afford to drop his guard around.
Ichigo: Getsuga…TENSHOU!
Swinging Zangetsu down, the blue waves of power flies through the ground below as it flies across the room at Yusuke, who for a moment is taken back…before he smirks, and raises his index finger, focusing his power into one point.
Renji: Wait, is that…a Kido? It can’t be, he’s just a human.
Byakuya: How interesting.
Yusuke: Spirit GUN!
Firing the beam of spirit energy from his finger, it quickly expands out to meet the Getsuga Tenshou head on, the two attacks clashing for a brief moment as the pressure of the meeting of attacks nearly throws the surrounding bystander off their feet.
Rukia: Are they trying to bring this whole building down on us!?
Hiei: Knowing Yusuke, they probably are.
The two attacks reach a stalemate, both fizzling out as Ichigo relaxes his body positioning slightly while Yusuke grins as he brings his right hand back into a fist.
Koenma: Ha! You see Ogre, this is amazing!
Jorge: Um, Koenma sir, they nearly brought the whole dojo down on us!
Koenma: Quiet ogre, or I’ll cut your next paycheck!
Jorge: We’re gonna die here.
Ichigo: You done yapping over there, toddler?
Koenma: Hey! Focus on the fight, strawberry!
Ichigo: What the HELL DID YOU-
Seizing the obvious opening, Yusuke grins as he throws a sucker-punch right into Ichigo’s face, fully bringing Ichigo’s attention back on him as he swings Zangetsu again to control the distance between them both before going on the offensive again, clashing his blade against Yusuke’s fists yet again.
Ichigo: Cheap shot!
Yusuke: Maybe don’t let insults distract you from a fight!
Renji: Hey, the guys over in Squad 11 could throw a Kido better than you do! And they suck at it!
Yusuke: The hell’d you say-?!
His shout was cut off by Ichigo taking the opportunity to lay into him with a heavy right hook, sending Yusuke crashing across the room and landing directly next to the observers. Kuwabara opened his mouth, but Yusuke got up and immediately brushed himself off.
Kuwabara: You-
Yusuke: Don’t even say a goddamn word.
Hiei: You’re a fool Yusuke, and you’re letting your guard down again.
Renji: They’re certainly a colorful bunch… Literally.
Kurama: They’ve pretty much always been like this.
Rukia: Takes me back to when I first met Ichigo and his friends actually.
Readying himself again, Yusuke drew one of his hands back and prepared to focus his Spirit Energy into his entire hand, then thrusting the punch out as his hand then shot open, and fired out a spread of multiple blasts like a shotgun. Ichigo, smirking, charged forwards to take the attack head on, swinging Zangetsu around to deflect the smaller shotgun blasts as he got up close to Yusuke, only for Yusuke to suddenly come around and charge his fist up to throw a Spirit Punch that he impacts directly into Ichigo’s chest, causing him to cough out blood as he recoils back.
Yusuke: Now, here goes!
Throwing a quick combo to keep Ichigo disoriented, Yusuke then fired off the Spirit Wave again, this time going for the point blank attack to send him flying, and hopefully, take him out in one shot. But as the force on the Spirit Wave hits Ichigo, he suddenly grabs his sword tighter and swings it around as his Reatsu aura suddenly flares upwards and grows in power. Yusuke nearly jumps away as the sudden spike in power, and then nearly gasps when he sees the single horn on the side of Ichigo’s head.
Yusuke: The hell’s going on here?
Ichigo: Heh. Now we’re gettin’ serious!
Suddenly appearing behind Yusuke, Ichigo grabs both his Zangetsu blades and rushes with them both, attacking at blinding speeds with his dual blades via Shunpo to overwhelm Yusuke with his sheer raw power.
Hiei: Well now, that’s a surprise…is he a Mazoku as well?
Byakuya: No. Kurosaku’s power is derived from that of both that of the Shinigami, and the Hollow…as well as that of the Quincy’s.
Hiei: Hollow…I see.
Kuwabara: I…have no idea what that meant.
Rukia: It would take too long to explain. Don’t worry about it.
As Ichigo dashed across the room he rapidly appeared several times in an instant via afterimage, surrounding Yusuke with a flurry of attacks with his two Zanpakuto. A slash from the left, a stab from the right, a blinding swing from above, Yusuke struggled to keep blocking every attack coming his way. Grunting in annoyance, Yusuke quickly whipped out the Shotgun to blast out the area surrounding him, forcing Ichigo to focus on dodging the attack instead of attacking him. With a grin, Yusuke then flung himself forwards and drew his right leg back, focusing his Spirit energy into his leg and kicking Ichigo straight in the gut with the Spirit Kick.
Yusuke: How’s that for ya?!
Yusuke then proceeded to grab Ichigo while off-balance from the attack to perform a quick body toss into the floor, cracking the ground beneath. Chunks of stone flew upwards from the force of the impact as the Spirit Detective picked Ichigo up again and launched him towards the far side of the room, into the wall. But not only did it launch him into the wall, but it sent him straight through it, sending Ichigo flying out the side of the dojo entirely and into the one next door. Ichigo’s head was lodged through a wall, startling a bunch of souls on the other side, who likely would have had heart attacks if not for the fact that they were already dead.
Ichigo: …’Sup?
No sooner did Ichigo speak to the low ranked Shinigami, because a second later he was violently yanked back out of the hole by Yusuke, who flung him back across the dojo and through the air. But this time, Ichigo caught himself with a flip, jamming his feet into the ground to brace himself, a grin on his face as he began radiating more Reatsu. Reshi flowed through his body, through his Zangetsu blades, and he was ready for something big.
Ichigo: Come on, let’s see how tough you are.
Yusuke rushes forwards, his eyes locked on the opponent ahead of him, and Ichigo charges back in retaliation. He lets his two swords hang down by the floor, grinning as he charges head long at Yusuke, who throws a violent punch straight to Ichigo’s forehead, hard enough to completely halt his forward momentum and stop Ichigo dead in his tracks.
Kuwabara: Yeah, nice hit Urameshi, you got him!
Hiei: Fool. Yusuke’s fallen right into his trap.
Yusuke suddenly gasped as he realized that Ichigo was still smirking, still standing there with only a small bruise on his head. Small teal lines lit up along Ichigo’s neck, blood views glowing with Reishi, powered by Blut Vene. Yusuke quickly began drawing his fist back, but it was too late. He was too close, and he didn’t have the ability to get away in time as Ichigo thrust his head forwards, delivering a powerful headbutt to Yusuke’s face and stunning him. With that opening, Ichigo drew his two Zanpakuto together, and swung the larger one downwards, firing off a powerful Getsuga Tenshou.
Ichigo: GETSUGA-
And then, he swung the shorter one to the side, firing a second Getsuga Tenshou after it, the two attacks fusing into a single cross shaped attack, the Getsuga Jūjishō.
Ichigo: TENSHOU!!!!
The full power of the Getsuga Jūjishō explodes in Yusuke’s face, sending him flying into the air with enough force to slam against the ceiling of the dojo with a yell of pain.
Renji: HA! He did it, Ichigo won!
Byakuya: No, not yet. Urameshi…
But that pain turns to a grin as Yusuke braces his right arm with his left hand, and focuses his full power into one point in his body.
Byakuya: Still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.
Yusuke: SPIRIT GUN!
Firing off a full power Spirit Gun, the force of the blast ripples across the room, forcing everyone to momentarily brace themselves, as well as sending poor Jorge flying into the wall. Ichigo steals himself and tries to block the attack, but for a moment his eyes widen as he gets overpowered by the Spirit Gun, which explodes in his face and blasts him straight into the floor.
Rukia: No. It’s not over yet. I’ve never known Ichigo to stay down…I don’t expect him to start now.
As the smoke clears, metal scrapes against the floor yet again as Ichigo stands on the ground, his bangs covering his eyes…but blood drips from his wound and down onto the ground. His breathing is rough, and his body moves in a jagged way. It forces itself forwards. To step ahead, regardless of injury.
Yusuke: You're not calling it quits? Hate to break it to you, but I’m not interested in a punching bag.
Ichigo: Ban…Kai.
Suddenly, a pillar of golden Reatsu explodes into the air, the force of the pressure nearly forcing Yusuke to break himself, else he fall off his feet and onto his ass. The pillar of Reatsu fires off into the sky, as the two blades become one together. One, Zanpakuto.
Ichigo takes hold of Tensa Zangetsu, the blade of his destiny, and lets the dust settle as his transformation is completed. The air goes still, the pressure suddenly stops. All eyes lay on him, and Ichigo smirks as he rests his Zanpakuto on his shoulder.
Ichigo: Not bad. But, I’m still going to kick your ass.
Immediately, Ichigo goes on the offensive, rushing down Yusuke with a heavy swing of his sword. Yusuke just manages to avoid the attack, but the sheer force of the swing sliced away not only half of the dojo, but much of the open area outside with one massive burst of pressurized air.
Yusuke: Ha! Not bad!
Running after Ichigo, Yusuke used a quick burst of speed to dropkick Ichigo, who defended with the Zanpakuto. The force of his attack sent him skidding back into the outside area and through the massive hole in the dojo’s structure. Dashing after him, Yusuke jumped out right after Ichigo.
Jorge: Cleanup’s gonna be hell after this one.
Koenma: And the paperwork for it all…
Botan: Hold on, this was your idea, wasn’t it?!
Renji: HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE SEEN THIS COMING!?
While everyone took turns absolutely roasting Koenma, the fight continued. Dashing through the Seireitei, Ichigo swung his Zanpakuto down and slammed it against Yusuke’s arms, the latter bracing himself with all his body to not fall over. Pushing back, Yusuke charges his body with more energy and ran in to barrage him with a round of multiple Spirit Punches, but with a swift swing of Tensa Zangetsu, a pulse of Reshi had blocked Yusuke’s attack and nearly taken half his body off, destroying several more buildings behind him in the process.
Yusuke: That was…another Getsuga Tenshou?
Ichigo: That? No, that was just my normal sword swing.
Yusuke: …well, guess it’s now or never then.
Focusing on his Spiritual Energy, black marks suddenly appeared across Yusuke’s body as he entered his Mazoku form, and suddenly felt his body swelling with a burst of new demon energy. Yusuke smirked, raised his fists, and dug his feet into the ground.
Yusuke: Winner takes all?
Ichigo: I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The two rushed into battle, Ichigo swinging his sword down to cause a quake on the ground as Yusuke leaped into the air and focused up his Demon Gun, firing the darker red energy blast down at Ichigo, who spun back around to hold back the attack with his sword, this time with much greater success. He lunged upwards, forcing his way through the demon gun to land a powerful slash on Yusuke before slamming him straight back into the ground, kicking Yusuke down and letting him go flying.
Letting him get some distance between them, Ichigo grinned and raised Zangetsu, using it and the horn on the side of his head to create the Cero used by Hollows. And then, he swung his sword around, creating the full Gran Rey Cero that he fired off like a Getsuga Tenshou, ripping the ground below it apart as it flew towards Yusuke. And Yusuke, growling, stood back up and channeled all his Demon Energy into his body, giving him the strength to punch forwards and catch the Gran Rey Cero before punching the attack hard enough, its momentum reversed and it launched back the way it had come from.
Yusuke: Gotcha…what!?
But Ichigo wasn’t standing across from him. Rather, Ichigo was standing miles above him in the sky, standing on thin air. Not flying. Standing.
Yusuke: HOW THE SHIT IS HE DOING THAT!?
Ichigo: YOU HAVIN’ SOME TROUBLE DOWN THERE?!
Yusuke: SPEAK UP, I CAN’T HEAR YOU FROM UP THERE!
Ichigo: WHAT?!
Yusuke: WHA- Oh, forget this.
Pointing his finger directly into the ground, Yusuke uses a massively concentrated blast of Spirit Energy to rocket himself into the sky at blinding speeds. Ichigo was taken off guard by Yusuke’s nearly brain-dead tactic.
Ichigo: What the actual hell-?!
So much so that he forgot to move out of the way as Yusuke crashed into him with a strong, Spirit Gun-propelled headbutt. Directing himself away from Ichigo, he used the residual energy from his attack to launch another Spirit Gun at Ichigo, blasting him while he was off his guard.
Yusuke: How’s that for improvisation?!
Ichigo: You take thick-skulled to a whole new level!
Drawing his hand back, Yusuke had to focus all his Spirit Energy into propelling himself upwards with the Spirit Wave to even get a chance at his next attack, throwing a hard punch at Ichigo that hit him directly in the jawline. As Ichigo recoiled back, he swung his sword around again, and Yusuke had to brace himself again, this time with nothing to fall back against as he went flying.
Ichigo: Not used to flying in the air, are you!
Yusuke: Not really. So I’ll bring you back down with me!
Blasting himself forwards, Yusuke’s body suddenly began to glow with a golden aura as he began to flow with Sacred Energy. Drawing his hand back, Yusuke put all of his Sacred Energy into one punch, got into Ichigo’s face, and swung his fist. Ichigo blocked the attack, but the force still hit. The shockwave rang out from above. The bright light could be seen by those looking up.
Ichigo was falling, falling straight to the ground. Yusukg was diving after him, hand outstretched. But Yusuke wasn’t chasing him, nor was he reaching out for him. It was him falling as well, readying one final attack.
It was time to end this.
Yusuke: THIS TIME, I’M GOING ALL IN! SPIRIT GUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!
Ichigo: GETSUGA….TENSHOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUU!!!!!!!
Blasts of black and gold clashed, the full power of the Getsuga Tenshou and Spirit Gun collided. The resulting explosion engulfed the sky above the Soul Society, for even denizens of the afterlife could see it from miles away, let alone the Shinigami below in the Seireitei. Everyone below watched, in shock of the sudden explosion, or in awe of the power of the two fighters who performed it.
Kuwabara: I…I don’t see em’! URAMESHI!
Rukia: ICHIGO!
Botan: Oh dear…You don’t suppose they took each other out, do you…?
Hiei: …I see them.
Renji: You do!? Who won!
Before Hiei got a chance to speak, however, Yusuke’s body suddenly came crashing down through what little remained of the ceiling, creating a small crater with the force of his landing. As Botan and Kuwabara ran up to look down inside, they saw Yusuke laying in the hole, battered, bruised, but breathing. He was very much alive, just unconscious.
Behind them, however, landed Ichigo with a hefty thud. He stood there, blood dripping from his open wounds, his robes all torn up and exposing his body underneath. But he stood tall, stood proud, and even raised Tensa Zangetsu to the air.
He was the last man standing.
He had won.
Renji: He did it!
Rukia: Thank god you’re still alive.
Ichigo turned, and gave his friends a smirk. And then, just like that, his body collapsed in on itself, and Ichigo too fell to the floor, succumbing to unconsciousness.
KO!
Conclusion[]
Sharaku: Now which one’s fighting Danny Phantom, and which one’s fighting Pac-Man?
MegaSonic: This was an exciting matchup to look at, and there was a lot going into it, but Ichigo ultimately had everything he needed to overcome Yusuke’s power. That’s not to undersell Yusuke though, he did technically have more experience than Ichigo, as the events of Yu Yu Hakushou span several years longer than the events of Bleach. But experience alone could not always overcome raw power.
Sharaku: While both fighters had plenty of power to spare, only one had enough to seal the victory, and that was Ichigo. While Yusuke’s feat with the Spirit Tree was certainly powerful, capping at around 140 zettatons of TNT, Ichigo can completely decimate Yhwach with a single strike, meaning he’d massively upscale from Ywach’s own feat at a similar level. At the least, there’s a 7 and a half times difference due to how one-shotting works in terms of relativity.
MegaSonic: And while we could measure the speed of Yusuke’s Spirit Energy to be moving at relativistic speeds, several Bleach characters have shown lightspeed movements and reactions, including Ichigo himself, meaning there was nothing stopping him from just overwhelming Yusuke with his sheer speed. It also meant that while Yusuke had a larger variety of offensive attacks with his Spirit Energy, Yusuke was still going to have a harder time landing a winning blow, especially if Ichigo just doubled his defenses with Blut Vene.
Sharaku: Yeah, it’s gonna be kind of hard for Yusuke to stack up with a dude who’s swinging a sword the size of your body, who can also not only overpower you, but also move faster than you can track. Yusuke unfortunately didn’t have the most going for him outside of experience. Even in arsenals, Ichigo’s sheer amount of transformations and statistical boosts gave him the extreme edge when it came to versatility. Not that Ichigo’s known for swapping between forms on a dime like he’s Son Goku, but it remains to be said. He’s got a hefty amount more than Yusuke can handle at once.
MegaSonic: And sure, Yusuke’s a prodigy fighter who’s always developing new techniques, strategies, and improving his speed and skill one could argue he’d be able to think of some sort to plan to work around Ichigo’s advantages, but the thing so, all of that applies to Ichigo as well. They’re both incredibly skilled and smart fighters, so it’s likely both could reasonably plan around each other’s abilities. But even if Yusuke did somehow manage to overpower Ichigo and back him into a corner, well… Ichigo always had Mugetsu, something Yusuke had no way to counter, avoid, or survive.
Sharaku: Yeah, in the end, the Spirit Detective just didn’t have any way to seal the victory. Unfortunate that one of these absolute lads had to go down, but what can you do? I guess Yusuke just got Haku-shown who was Number One.
MegaSonic: The winner is Ichigo.
