History[]

Ostensibly the worst father ever in Tekken history, Heihachi Mishima is the son of the honorable Jinpachi Mishima, father of the vengeful Kazuya and grandson of the power-hungry Jin Kazama. Having grown up to learn martial arts under the tutelage of his father, Heihachi became a dangerously effective martial artist, training alongside Kazumi Hachijo, whom he later married and sired a son with, Kazuya. Unfortunately, life turned downhill for him when Kazumi attempted to kill him (as she predicted that he and Kazuya would throw the world into chaos), which ended with her death by Heihachi's hands, even on her Devil Form.

After he took over as the sole proprietor of the Mishima family, he harshly trained Kazuya, even verbally and emotionally abusing him when the boy wasn't improving in his training. Once, he easily quashed Kazuya and tossed him off the mountain (as a test to see if Kazuya inherited the Devil Gene from Kazumi). The boy grew up to become hateful of all things, but most importantly, his father, then takes his time to grow strong enough to kill him one day in revenge for Kazumi's death.

Heihachi eventually founded the powerful megacorporation known as the Mishima Zaibatsu, and yearly, he would announce the King of the Iron Fist Tournaments, where the best warriors around the world would gather and showcase their strength and skill to have the chance to best him; as it's sole champion and host. At many points, to spite Kazuya, Heihachi adopted the charismatic inventor Lee Chaolan and fathered a son with a Swedish woman, named Lars Alexandersson, both of whom were pawns in Heihachi's feud against Kazuya.

After being overthrown by Kazuya in Tekken 1, he returns as an active participant, where he reclaims leadership of the Zaibatsu by defeating him in the next King of Iron Fist Tournament; effectively becoming it's sole owner until the fifth tournament, where his grandson, Jin, became the head of the Zaibatsu, having usurped Heihachi as the head of the Mishima Zaibatsu.

In the seventh, after Azazel's defeat and Jin's absence, Heihachi regained control of the Zaibatsu by subjugating those loyal to Jin, especially Nina. He then uses the Zaibatsu to reach out Claudio, a master exorcist. He eventually subjugates the Archers of Sirius as a loyal ally to him, but Claudio explains that there is a force coming, a power greater than his son. Heihachi eventually confronts this mysterious force (who claimed that Kazumi saved him and made him promise to kill Heihachi and Kazuya if she couldn't), known as Akuma. After a fierce scuffle with Akuma, Jack units sent by Kazuya were dispatched to kill Heihachi, but alongside Akuma, Heihachi defeats them, but not before he himself is defeated by the latter.

Having survived, Heihachi returns, ordering the Zaibatsu to publicly announce his death and cancellation of the seventh tournament, to continue his death. Seeing the battle between Kazuya and Akuma hand, Heihachi uses the opportunity to publicly expose Kazuya as a Devil, weakening G-Corp's public support, but Kazuya manages to obtain the last laugh by destroying the Mishima Zaibatsu satellite and then made it look like the Zaibatsu intentionally destroyed it by themselves, causing public support for the Zaibatsu to fall as well.

Before his last battle with Kazuya, Heihachi interviews with a reporter, and tells him about the reasons behind his hunger for power. He later had the latter escorted out after finding out that the reporter works with Lars and fights Kazuya one last time in an active volcano. In a brutal battle between father and son, even at their strongest, Heihachi manages to outfight Kazuya's most powerful devil form. Exhausted and weakened, Heihachi is ultimately killed by Kazuya himself, his corpse tossed down the volcano.
