TRIGGER WARNING: If you are easily offended by blood, gore, partial nudity, or other such profanities, I'd recommend you skip this one. While the nature of both series is not solely about senseless violence, some scenes depicted are NOT for the faint of heart. Also, this should go without saying, but major spoilers for both series ahead. You have been warned. If you don't mind those things though, then continue on as you were.
Hanyuu VS Kaede is a What If? DEATH BATTLE! Episode by Duragoji123.
Description[]
When They Cry VS Elfen Lied! Perhaps some of the goriest and infamous anime series ever known. Though, past all the violence, the obscenity, and the bloodshed, in truth both of these stories are about overcoming the terrors which can befall individuals. They've been through hell and back, however they've gotten through their pain with the help of those they call friends. But now, which one of these two horned, adorable, and sympathetic girls with a monstrous side will emerge victorious being pitted up against each other in a battle to the death?
Interlude[]
(Cue Wiz & Boomstick)
Wiz: We all love cute things. It makes us feel safe, secure, and not in danger. This is something called "cute aggression", and it is what leads us to regarding babies, pets, and other such things as 'cute'.
Boomstick: But when talking about these two, throw those things out the window! They've seen a lot of shit... and their true personalities match that down to a tee. Hanyuu Furude, Higurashi's Auau-dorable goddess and the true form of Oyashiro-sama.
Wiz: And Kaede, the true identity of the Diclonius Queen Lucy from Elfen Lied.
Boomstick: He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find who would win... a DEATH BATTLE!
Hanyuu Answers DEATH BATTLE!'s Cries[]
(Cue Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OP)
Wiz: The year is 1983. Countless people are still weary over the terror the Cold War could bring to the world, others are having fun playing the newly released console - the Famicom - published by an, at the time, fairly unknown company, and then some others still were busy working day-to-day jobs living life the same boring way as usual.
Boomstick: However, for one boy in particular, he was doing absolutely none of these things. Meet Keiichi Maebara, your local starter of such activities as, oh, I don't know... SHOOTING A YOUNG SCHOOL GIRL'S EYE WITH A BB GUN! Be careful, or else with one of those you'll shoot your own eye out, kid!
Wiz: However, Keiichi was not so much of a troublemaker for absolutely no reason. Truth was, he was a subject of bullying and he projected that bullying onto others by shooting at them with... well, a BB gun. However, he felt sorry for his actions, thus he owned up to his mistake and apologized to everyone, especially the little girl, profusely. Very, very luckily for him, she miraculously didn't receive any true lasting damage.
Boomstick: But still, when his parents found out about this, they decided to move. Y'know, creating a new life and all that junk. Welcome to Hinamizawa, everyone! Isn't this village just such a nice, lovely place full of singing cicadas, very nice people, and-
*(The screen shows a compilation of Higurashi deaths)*
Boomstick: ..murder...
Wiz: Hinamizawa Village is the focal point of not only some of the kindest people you'll ever meet, but also probably the absolute worst people you could ever meet. Because, this village holds a dark secret.
Boomstick: Strap in, boys and girls! Because this horrific visual novel goes a whole lot deeper than just senseless violence and manic episodes! For this village is protected, and under some people's interpretation terrorized, by an omnipotent goddess who gives no quarry to the whims of us pesky Children of Men! Like purple hair that of midnight sky and horns like that of the Devil himself, it's..!
Boomstick: A little girl!
Wiz: Or to be more specific, the so-called savior and god of Hinamizawa legend, Oyashiro-sama. Though, in actuality, the real identity of the god is a girl named Hanyuu.
(Cue Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OST - Chousa)
Background Information[]
- Full Name: Hai-Ryun Yeasomul Jedha
- Other Names/Aliases: Hanyuu Furude, Oyashiro-sama, 'Promising Newcomer', Featherine Augustus Aurora (possibly)
- Age: 33 physically; over 1000 years mentally
- Incredibly cute.
- Always says "Au au au!" whenever upset or frustrated.
- Likes: Sweet things (especially cream puffs), cute things.
- Dislikes: Spicy food, alcohol, the horns on her head.
- Is the other half of the same dichotomy Eua is a part of.
Boomstick: Now, you see, there was a festival coming up - Watanagashi, the cotton-drifting festival - and this festival was very important to the people of Hinamizawa.
Wiz: Speaking of which, the word 'wata' is actually a homonym for both cotton and entrails. Legend has it, that Hinamizawa was once called "Onigafuchi", and its inhabitants were all descended from demons. Because of this, the god which had descended upon the world, Oyashiro, permitted the demons to go out on a specific day to other human villages.
Boomstick: And then butcher up the humans after bringing 'em back, and feasting on their intestines for dinner! Damn, we're in for a long one... Well, anyways, the Three Great Families which ruled over Hinamizawa as its governing body kept this traditional alive for years long after Oyashiro had left the people of the not-so-quiet village.
Wiz: Left, hardly. Oyashiro was still there. Still watching, always present. Everlasting and eternal, they watched over the village they had once reigned over.
Boomstick: I don't know, Wiz. I mean, do you know Oyashiro-sama?
Wiz: I- Yes, that's... who we're doing this analysis on? Anyways, Hinamizawa-
Boomstick: I KILL YOU, YOU KILL ME! NO, HINAMIZAWA-
*Wiz bonks Boomstick on the back of his head with his metal arm, knocking the alcoholic redneck with a shotgun leg to the ground*
Wiz: Ahem, well, anyways, where were we? Ah, yes! Oyashiro-sama... Wake up.
Boomstick: Euugghahhh... Wiz, why do I feel like... something's crawling on my neck? It itches... so much.....
Wiz: Oh, it's... nothing. Anyways, uh, back to what we were talking about!
(Cue Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OST - Hayashi V2)
Boomstick: Yeah, uh, alright well y'see, a certain woman especially took note of this legend, and used her grandfather's research (even though said 'grandfather' was not her actual grandfather) to try and find out the truth of 'Hinamizawa Syndrome'.
Wiz: Takano Miyo, she was an orphan who was adopted by a scientist that served as her father's teacher when he was in grade school. Hoping to be immortalized through his work, her 'grandfather' lead a sole investigation into absolute hell. The hell that was Hinamizawa's past. However, his research was laughed off by the Tokyo Organization, a vaguely higher power within the Japanese government.
Boomstick: Miyo, admiring his courage and determination, inherited his ideal of being immortalized through the research. Enough so that when he died, Miyo took up his mantle as the head of research on Hinamizawa, being given a position in the Tokyo Organization out of... pity. Damn.
Wiz: However, after her research began failing, she began losing her position and began spiraling further into depression. However, upon being 'chosen by God', she would have a faithful encounter with a mysterious woman of the Tokyo Organization. She gave her one more chance; prove her research, or she die.
Boomstick: Yeah yeah yeah, we get it Wiz. The big bad villain of the story has a big sad backstory. What's this got to do with the girl with the horns again?
Wiz: Patience, Boomstick, patience. We were just getting there. In order to accomplish her goals, Miyo would begin abducting and killing off Hinamizawa's inhabitants, or either turning them insane and letting them do the work.
Boomstick: However, unluckily for her, one of these inhabitants was a blueberry-haired girl named Rika Furude! Who could... freaking time travel? What the hell? Is she an Undertale character?
Wiz: No, Boomstick, that is because, in actuality, Rika's spirit is bonded to Oyashiro herself. And Oyashiro's true identity is, of course, Hanyuu.

Wiz: In the world of Higurashi, nay, When They Cry as a whole, Rika is what is called a 'Looper'. Loopers are, in essence, people whose souls are sent back in time each time they die. They achieve said power from higher gods, and Rika got her Looper powers from Hanyuu. Since the two are bound by such a bond, Hanyuu is a spirit that only Rika can see which can manifest in the real world as... a school girl!
Boomstick: But giving people time powers or acting as a spirit isn't all this cute goddess can do. She can also read minds, can fly, she can shoot god damn light beams which can be used to disintegrate others off the face of reality, or even create lightning storms with a mere thought!
Wiz: Hanyuu also has quite a few defensive options at her disposal. She can form protective barriers around herself or even manipulate the vectors of an attack to completely miss its original target, even when said attack was a bullet fired at her.
Boomstick: Speaking of which, the bullet looks like it was fired from a Colt 1911, which has a muzzle velocity on average of 253 meters per second, or just under 75% the speed of sound. She's shown more than capable of keeping up with people like Keiichi, who can fight off a group of eighty armed individuals who all had guns, at once mind you, and not even get shot once!
Wiz: All of this proved to be extremely useful, allowing Rika and Hanyuu to finally break the loop. Despite all odds being stacked against them, Hanyuu, Rika, Keiichi, Rena, and the others had succeeded by bringing Takano down a peg, and they couldn't have done it without Hanyuu's abilities.
Boomstick: She's shown to be capable of manifesting illusions and contorting people's sense of reality around them, showing them visions of dead family members and dangerous wild animals. And that isn't even the most craziest thing this loli can do either!
Wiz: She's practically omniscient over all of Hinamizawa, knowing everything that happens within the town. In fact, the people's belief in Oyashiro and Hanyuu's knowledge of said belief even strengthens her own power. Though, perhaps her most impressive ability is her "Voice of God".
Boomstick: This is a 'technique' of sorts which declares that something is to be followed, and manifests as the god damned will of God itself. If one were to go against this spoken law, the rulebreaker would begin to feel immense fear and weariness. Or, alternatively... she could, just put people to sleep with said voice due to how graceful it can also be... kind of reminds me of you sometimes with your math ramblings, Wiz.
Wiz: Oh, shut up. Anyways, by stripping Takano away from her connection to the God which granted her powers, the researcher had finally been defeated. However, despite having won, Hanyuu... didn't take the chance to kill her. Nor did any of our protagonists, for that matter.
Boomstick: Instead, Hanyuu forgave Takano Miyo, allowing her to both live and repent from her sins. Also, she just so happened to get these badass red eyes--
Boomstick: -Cool! And, Miyo actually followed through with Hanyuu's request, so good for her. Though, I guess that means all of this is over now? We don't have to watch the gory kid murder anymore?
Wiz: ...hardly. You see, none of this... proved to actually be enough. Despite breaking the loop, there was still something left unchecked. Something unaccounted for.
Boomstick: Backstory time!
(Cue Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OST - Urugawa)
Wiz: You see, perhaps the legend of Hinamizawa once being infested by demons wasn't such a legend after all. Because it was inhabited by the Putus and the Grifys, the former being a pureblood Ryuun, aliens who had settled down onto Earth long ago, and the latter being a hybrid of humans and the Ryuun.
Boomstick: Yeah, to put it lightly, they didn't like each other too much. Because after an outbreak of an epidemic across the world (that's definitely not something modern society can relate to), the Grifys began to "demonify", and essentially became absolutely bloodthirsty monsters.
Wiz: Hanyuu was actually born to the Jedha family, who were members of the Putus class of Ryuun. She was charged with stopping and observing the demonfied Grifys' actions. But, in reality, before she was Hanyuu, she was actually--
Boomstick: Hi- ..Hair- ...Harry- ...Hai- ...OH COME ON! What is it with When They Cry and these stupidly hard-to-pronounce names?
Wiz: Hai-Ryun Yeasomul Jedha, the warrior Ryuun who was tasked with putting an end to the outbreak.
(Cue Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OST - Yui)
Feats[]
- In her prime, was described as being a genius in combat and a master of the sword
- Capable of cutting down trees and knocking out a bear
- Withstood a bomb capable of blowing up an entire mansion
- Redirected a bullet fired at her head
- Scales at least to Keiichi, who was capable of fighting off eighty armed villagers, without getting shot once
- Along with the others, defeated and outsmarted the Mountain Dogs
- The Mountain Dogs are trained Special Forces units
- Broke the loop, and even succeeded in making Rika Furude happy
- Defeated Eua, Tamura, and Miyo Takano
Boomstick: The alien chick also has the means to take 'em out too! Many times in her prime was she stated to be both a master combatant and a master swordswoman. She was shown to be able to chop down trees casually, and even knocking out a bear with a single punch! Assuming this bear was an Asiatic black bear, the most common bear found in Japan, they usually have a bite force of 650 pounds per square inch!
Wiz: You want something even more impressive? How about the time she withstood a bomb that blew up an entire mansion, without even taking any damage? While said explosion wasn't shown on screen exactly, it could potentially be equal to an upwards of about 60 megajoules of energy.
Boomstick: And, like stated previously, Hanyuu could deflect a bullet heading right for her head and even keep up with Keiichi, who could keep up with eighty armed villagers.
Wiz: Perhaps even more insane, is that when the Mountain Dogs went after them, and the school students of Hinamizawa outsmarted them.
Boomstick: Keep in mind, these guys are trained professional soldiers, and these actual kids outsmarted them in terms of battle planning. Let it be said, never mess around with When They Cry protagonists. Guess those thousand-plus years of age aren't just for deflecting legal trouble, huh?
Weaknesses[]
- Depressed and alone
- If she lacks interest in something, her powers weaken
- Being called a "monster" causes her to panic
- Weak to Furude blood, especially her daughter
- Physically frail in her main body
Wiz: Though, despite her extremely amazing track record, Hanyuu is not invincible. If she loses or lacks interest in a certain subject or, in this case, a fight, her powers can weaken.
Boomstick: She's also a bit of a coward when she doesn't take things seriously; she can start to panic as simple as just being called a monster. Though honestly, I have no idea who would ever do that. She's just plain adorable!
Wiz: Also, due to her more child-like body, Hanyuu has since grown weaker than her prime days. Though, none of this perhaps stacks up to her greatest weakness of all...
Boomstick: You see, back when she was still the very hard-to-pronounce name, she actually fell in love with a man by the name of Riku Furude. She, adopting the name of 'Hanyuu' due to Riku suggesting it, married this man and they had a child together. Awwww...
Wiz: However, Riku's body was taken by a Putus in order to get revenge on Hanyuu for formerly defeating him in a confrontation defending Onigafuchi. As a result, Hanyuu was forced to kill the one man she loved more than anyone else, in order to save everyone else from this demon.
Boomstick: Vowing to pick up all the sins of the world and bear it on her back, Hanyuu placed Ouka (Riku and Hanyuu's daughter) in the care of the village and faked her death, no longer able to face her daughter.
Wiz: Though, eventually after a rather long series of events, mother and daughter reunited. The two lived peacefully, from then on out...
Boomstick: Is what we would say, if things didn't get really, really bad. Another outbreak happened, and Ouka fell ill. Hanyuu was able to cure her, but the disease was continuing to spread. Other villagers were falling ill, so Hanyuu opened the Furude house to those in-need.
Wiz: Everything was going well, up until Hanyuu found out some of the villagers were actually faking it the whole time.
Boomstick: Two of those rat bastards had waited until Ouka's mother had left for a town meeting, before torturing the Furude daughter in absolutely vile ways.
Wiz: Upon returning, Hanyuu saw this, and she... snapped. After being forced to kill her own husband, being separated from her daughter, and then having both her own and her daughter's goodwill towards the villagers being taken advantage of, she went on a murder spree throughout the entire village, sparing absolutely no one-
Boomstick: As she should, god damn it! Seriously, to hell with these guys.
Wiz: Though, despite everything, Ouka still stood up for the villagers. Standing in the way of Hanyuu, the daughter revealed all the time that she had known the mother's real identity. After a long, hard-fought battle from either side, what ultimately won wasn't raw strength or bloodlust... but Hanyuu's hesitation. Her own blood standing against her, what was she supposed to do? She couldn't just take someone close from her away again, by her own hands.
(Cue Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OST - Sei)
Boomstick: It was because of this hesitation that allowed Ouka to demonify due to her blood as a Ryuun hybrid, and stab her own mother with Onigari-no-Ryuouu, a three-pronged sword capable of permanently killing those even with Looper powers.
Wiz: However, in her final moments, Hanyuu regained her humanity, and as she slowly slipped into death, mother and daughter shared one last moment together before they were striped away from each other one final time. ...Though, this story doesn't have a bad ending. For you see, Rika Furude, the girl Hanyuu's spirit becomes attached to, is actually a reincarnation of sorts of Ouka.
(Cue Higurashi no Naku Koro ni OST - Kai)
Boomstick: And she even faced down the evil main overarching antagonist of the entirety of Higurashi...
Boomstick: ...wait, IS THAT FEATHE-
Wiz: No, that's Eua. While it is theorized that Eua and Featherine might be connected in some way, I mean... just look at how similar they look... they are not officially confirmed to be the same character.
Boomstick: Oh... ok, I guess... well, she's still super hot, so I give that to her.
Wiz: ...ANYWAYS, when Hanyuu and Eua fought in a higher-dimensional plane called the MetaWorld (yes, the same MetaWorld from Umineko), the former succeeded in a victory. Which is impressive, as beings like Eua can control Fragments, the very conceptual existences of entire universes, and even views the universe as a lower plane.
Boomstick: Makes sense, since both her and Hanyuu are part of the same dichotomy of beings, and Hanyuu's true form exists beyond the fifth-dimensional wall of the multiverse! Crazy...
Wiz: Despite being faced against someone way stronger than her, Hanyuu emerged out the other end. Through the might of Miracle Magic and the same sword which killed her in her previous life, Furude felled Eua, or... at least temporarily defeated her. They were both still alive at the end of the fight.
Boomstick: So, y'know, in the end, despite her doubtless depression and apathy, Hanyuu succeeded in saving not just the other protagonists, not just the antagonist... but also, in more than one way, herself.
Hanyuu: "I'm prepared for anything! Up until now... I have been running away from every fight, afraid of losing. But running away is even worse than losing. Unless one continues to fight without succumbing to the pain of defeat, it is impossible to achieve victory. That is what people I love taught me..."
Kaede is Brought A-Nyuu into DEATH BATTLE![]
(Cue Elfen Lied OST - Rin'ne)
Wiz: There are secrets within our universe, and some are definitely not for the faint of heart. Whether it be the answers as to what lies at the bottom of the ocean, what the infinite cosmos holds within its confines, or something just as simple as fearing the future, we all have a fear.
Boomstick: But what you may not know is, that there's something out there that you should fear regardless of how badass you are.
Wiz: On a relatively isolated island off the coast of Kamakura in Japanese prefecture Kanagawa, within a research facility, a certain pink-haired woman is contained where essentially it is impossible to escape.
Boomstick: Though, don't mistake her being contained for her being a pushover. 'Cuz this girl is perhaps the single most dangerous thing on like, the entire planet!
Wiz: This woman is Lucy, the queen of a race of life forms known as the 'diclonius', a race of homo sapiens very similar to humans but with mutated genes.
(Cue Elfen Lied OST - Uso Sora)
Background Information[]
- Real Name: Kaede
- Alternate Personalities: Lucy, Nyuu, DNA Voice
- Gender: Female
- Age: 18 (as of the end of the series)
- Height: 5'4" (162.6 cm)
- Weight: 106 lbs (48 kg)
- Queen of the Diclonii
- Left-handed
- Has two horns, which are commonly mistaken for cat ears.
Boomstick: And despite being kept in a facility meant for containing specifically this chick's race, she broke out of there no problem! Killing absolutely... everybody that tried to stand in her way. It was... shall we say, not a pleasant experience for them. You really wouldn't expect someone with such cute cat ears to be such a freaking menace to society!
Wiz: Those are not actually ears, as some people have mistaken. No, those are horns, and they're part of the genetic mutation which the Diclonius off-shoot of the human race possess.
Boomstick: Oh, well they still look pretty cute regardless!
Wiz: Anyways though, right as she was about to just kind of... walk directly off of the island, she was shot in the back of the head. This caused her to fall into the ocean, slowly drifting away to the main land of Kamakura. Where, she would have a chance run-in with a certain dark-haired teenager...
Boomstick: This boy was none other than Kouta, your stereotypical harem anime protagonist! He was pretty chill though, at least. It's a miracle how he survived Lucy though... Guess that's just plot armor talking.
Wiz: Well, not quite. You see, when she got shot in the back of her head back on the island prior to her escape, Lucy got divided into two personalities. One of them, of course, was Lucy, a straight-to-the-point murder machine. The other personality however, was actually nameless at first, though it was definitely the more innocent and kind of the two personalities.
Boomstick: Because this personality didn't have a name, Kouta decided it would be best to name her 'Nyuu', since that was the noise she made all the time.
Wiz: She also had another personality, though this 'personality' was more or less a voice in her head telling her what to do - the DNA Voice.
Boomstick: Ooooo, spooky ghost voice!~ Anyways, while this thing was never confirmed in canon to be anything other than Lucy's mind going crazy, it's also implied that this thing was actually her genetics telling her to kill.
Wiz: This voice first called out to 'Lucy' back when she was at an orphanage, and upon hearing its call to kill some kids-
Boomstick -Who had killed her puppy right in front of her, those sick little brats!-
Wiz: -Lucy awakened her true powers as a Diclonius, her vectors.
(Cue Maelstrom - Quick/Bentley)
Abilities[]
- Multiple Limbs
- Can create up to 14 vectors
- By the end of the series, she can create upwards of 28 of them
- Invisibility and Intangibility via vectors
- Vibration Manipulation and Phasing
- Multiple Personalities
- Immense pain tolerance
- Can use her vectors for pseudo-flight or levitation
- Can change the size of her vectors
- Can induce pain by striking the nerves of her victims
- Can induce fear into a person she chooses
- Can create explosions at maximum frequency of her vectors
- Said explosions were compared to nuclear bombs, implying they may be capable of giving off radiation
- Can grow out her horns, allowing for a transformation of sorts
- Can create storms, forcefields, and illusions
- Can infect others with the Diclonius Virus
- Healing
- Gets stronger through rage
- Stated to be resistant to radiation
Boomstick: These freaky little ghost hands are basically a swiss army knife of world-ending cataclysms! They're both invisible and intangible, meaning they can't be seen or interacted with.
Wiz: Although there were initially 14 of these vectors that had a radius of two meters, later on in the series she doubles the amount of vectors she can create, now being able to stretch them all the way to the atmosphere from ground level! If she wants, Lucy can also make the vectors turn visible when her anger reaches a maximum. They function on molecular wave vibrations, so the faster Lucy vibrates them, the more damage they'll do.
Boomstick: So, like the Flash, Lucy can basically phase through objects and completely mess with their insides. Useful, when you're the queen of the horned people and need to find some way to spread!
Wiz: The Diclonii don't necessarily reproduce in the same way... well, us humans do. Their main method of reproduction is by entering into someone's body (most times through their head) and messing with their DNA. This basically turns whoever they attack into members of the Diclonius race. She can also use this method of DNA interaction to mess with cells, and heal up herself or others if necessary.
Boomstick: The vibrations can also induce explosions when vibrated at their maximum frequency! In fact, they were once compared to nuclear bombs, which when scaling to the present are on average at least 100 kilotons! This implies the explosions can also give off radiation as well. It's because of these vibrations she can also interact with your nerves, inflicting pain without even needing to physically attack you.
Wiz: She also seems to have an ability to passively radiate an aura of fear, that's capable of scaring another Diclonius by the name of Nana. Alternatively, she can cast illusions by messing with a person's biology or is even able to create perfect forcefields around her body. Said forcefields seem to be wide enough to cover at least a 10-meter radius.
Boomstick: And, if you think that's already enough powers for one anime girl to have, she's also got the ability to create lightning storms! You know Wiz, I think I'm starting to notice a trend with these cute, horned anime women...
Wiz: You think so? Well, the vectors are able to move so fast they block bullets around Lucy, even when said bullets were coming from dozens of soldiers with assault rifles!
Boomstick: Said bullets look like they were fired from an MP5, which can fire bullets of up to about 400 meters per second! That's beyond the speed of sound, for you normies out there.
Wiz: Though, that isn't all, she was even fast enough to catch a bullet from going straight through her heart. As in, the bullet had already pierced her skin, she had not reacted before then, and then she just used her vectors to go in between the distance of her skin and heart and catch it before it could make contact.
Boomstick: And to top it all off, she can also fly! Well... not realllllllly fly, it more or less is her using her vectors like Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man. But, y'know, if Oc's robot arms were invisible... not not robots..... Yeah it basically makes her look like she's flying.
Wiz: Though, if nothing else in this list of quite frankly insane abilities is enough to put you down, she can grow her horns out, and as a result becomes much stronger...
(Cue Elfen Lied OST - Katsubou)
Feats[]
- Broke out of a research facility designed to contain her race
- Said facility was heavily guarded by many armed soldiers
- Hid from police and crime specialists for years
- Can block bullets casually, and even caught one before it pierced her heart
- Her explosions are compared to nuclear bombs
- She's been at the center of said explosions and survived
- Can create vectors so large they can travel up into the atmosphere and into space in a short amount of time
- Reacted to and redirected said space-faring vectors, and did so while she was being vaporized
- Has an immense pain tolerance, capable of withstanding being vaporized and melted and still continuing to fight
- Stated herself capable of "destroying the earth" and wiping out humanity
- Defeated Nana, Mariko, Agent Bondo, Anna, etc.
Boomstick: At her maximum strength, she's easily capable of tossing around anyone who was a threat to her before! And even so, before her power up, she was capable of defeated a Diclonius who was said to be even stronger than she was normally!
Wiz: At her strongest, Lucy was even capable of creating such big vectors that they can dwarf entire cities, nay, even islands. And the craziest part is, she once grew them so long and wide, that they were visible from outer space!
Boomstick: Taking a look at these vectors and then comparing to the curvature of the earth, it looks like these vectors would be carrying a potential energy of up to over 210 exatons of TNT. That's enough to blow up the moon nearly ten times over!
Wiz: This is surprisingly consistent, seeing as how Lucy stated herself capable of destroying the entire planet and wiping out the human race.
Boomstick: She's blocked bullets like previously mentioned, and even was able to react to the previously mentioned vectors' flight speed!
Wiz: Though, perhaps most impressively, she's endured her very own vectors explosions. She was at the center of said explosions, and was still able to fight on without being any worse for wear. She's even capable of fighting after being reduced to a melty puddle.
Boomstick: Or even being vaporized! She ain't no slouch when it comes to being a sneaky little octopus lady either. When she was a child, she escaped from the orphanage she was kept at, and hid from the police and crime detectives for years. And this was while she was going on a murder spree, so it wasn't like she was just staying on the down-low either.
Wiz: Unsurprisingly, she's had much experience with maneuvering around tight spaces and getting out of sticky situations. Despite being public enemy number one as far as the government was concerned, she still managed to hold them off for a decently long while.
(Cue Elfen Lied OST - Yureai)
Weaknesses[]
- Emotionally unstable
- Can be forcibly switched back into Nyuu if she is knocked unconscious
- Though this also works the opposite way as well
- Nyuu is not as an experienced personality as Lucy is
- Overusing her powers will cause her to turn to vapor and melt
Boomstick: However, the vector chick isn't all-powerful or anything. She definitely comes with her faults.
Wiz: She can be forcibly turned back into Nyuu if she's hit on the head with an object. A bullet colliding with her mask and knocking her unconscious was enough to do so, and she can even switch personalities just by standardly falling asleep.
Boomstick: And because she's the more innocent personality, while Nyuu isn't incapable of using her spooky ghost arms by any means, she's definitely not as experienced with them.
Wiz: Most alarmingly, overuse of her abilities will cause her to slowly melt down into a puddle, becoming vapor in the process. She is capable of fighting while in this state, but given enough time she will die.
Boomstick: Yeah, fight on and ignore the pain all you want, but it won't stop the inevitability of death from catching up with you...
Wiz: ...That's, pretty deep Boomstick.
Boomstick: ...What were we talking about? I think I just heard my inner voice telling me to drink more beer! Can I-
Wiz: No. We have an analysis segment to finish.
Boomstick: Awwwwww... you're no fun.. Well, like her opponent, this isn't where Lucy's story ends luckily.
Wiz: You see, Lucy's real identity is actually the orphan girl that we covered at the beginning. Having been, what she thought, abandoned by her parents from a young age, she was picked up by an orphanage. Growing up to resent her loneliness, Kaede began to develop hatred towards those around her.
(Cue Elfen Lied OST - Hakuri)
Boomstick: Having been left behind by her parents, she wanted nothing more than to partake in murder, of absolutely everyone she hated. This was only heightened, when those stupid brats beat the puppy she had found and cared for, after being ratted out by the one person she trusted most.
Wiz: Kaede snapped, killing all of the children in the orphanage with her after giving into her DNA Voice, and fled the scene. However, she would have a fateful encounter with a certain boy...-
Boomstick: Wait, I feel like we've been here before-
Wiz: -Kouta. A much younger version of the boy Lucy knew in the present.
Boomstick: The two of them hit it off quite quickly, and Kaede even began developing feelings for the boy. After a trip to the zoo, the two promised each other that they'd see each other again. 'Cuz big shocker, Kouta was actually leaving town the next day and a giant festival was coming up, one in which he was going with family and couldn't see Kaede on his final day.
Wiz: After a long train ride back, and a great outburst which nearly cost Kouta his life, Kaede agreed to let Kouta go with his family. She would be alone again... but, at least he would be happy.
Boomstick: Though, perhaps Kouta made the biggest mistake a guy could make. He lied to her, saying that he wasn't going to the festival with another girl. When in fact... he was going with his COUSIN!? Pfft, wow, okay, that's one way to awaken to reality and be rejected.
Wiz: Upon finding out about this after going to the festival by herself, Kaede snapped. He had lied to her. He was seeing another woman. And he would pay for breaking what little remained of her already-broken heart. So, she murdered everyone in her path at said festival, sparing absolutely no one.
Boomstick: Kouta escaped this carnage however, though he had absolutely no idea that the one who caused it was the girl he had fallen in love with. That is, until they ran into each other on a train ride back home. ...How poetic. Dark, but poetic nonetheless.
Wiz: It was here where she killed both Kouta's sister and his father right in front of him. Stripped away from his parents, Kouta had no choice but to lay into his former best friend, and the one he had fallen for. This placed the both of them at major odds, however Kouta was too traumatized by this event. He forgot the memories of that day, as Kaede realized the grave mistake she had made. Unable to face him, the horned girl fled.
(Cue Elfen Lied OP)
Boomstick: To her credit though, she eventually ended up confronting him again. Having regained his memories over the time they spent together, Kouta confessed that he still had feelings for the girl he met that one sunny summer's day, though he couldn't forgive her for what she had done to his father and sister.
Wiz: But for Kaede... this was enough. Just hearing the confession of love from him was enough, so she dedicated her life going forwards to becoming a better person, and a better friend, than she could have ever hoped to be in the past.
Boomstick: Facing down the big bad of the series, Chief Kakuzawa, the very monster who had tortured and sexually assaulted Kaede's mother, Kaede proved herself to truly be the Queen of the Diclonii.
Wiz: Even being assaulted with missiles and being on the verge of melting and turning into dust in the wind, she protected the man she had loved more than anything. Even as she was dying, knowing the person she loved most would never be hers, she still kept on protecting him. Choosing to save the one man she loved, over carrying out her purpose of destroying the entire world.
Boomstick: And as she lost her grip on the world, Kaede died with the satisfaction of knowing Kouta was safe. ...damn, *sniff* that's... beautiful...
Wiz: Even though she started out rough, murderous, and cold, in the end perhaps even the coldest of hearts can be warmed by the Elven Song that is love.
Kaede: "You were a happy dream in a life that's been nothing but a hellish nightmare. Those days I spent with you... they were the only good days I have ever known..."
Pre-DEATH BATTLE![]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities.
Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTTTTTTTLLLLEEEE!!!!
(Please, do place your roots and bets in the poll.... right here!)
DEATH BATTLE![]
(Cue Japanese Lanterns)
The battle opens up, zooming into a small village. However, despite the smaller size of the village, the inhabitants did not care. For tonight, their village was all that existed in reality.
It was the night of the Watanagashi Festival of Hinamizawa Village, and many hundreds of people were all attending venues, playing games, and awaiting for the shrine maiden to do her annual celebratory dance. Though, five people in specific were focused on, walking through the crowd. One of them was a dark-haired boy that looked to be in his later teenage years, one was a girl with short brown hair that appeared to be older than the previously mentioned boy, the third was yet another girl but with dark black hair that appeared to be younger than both the first and second people.
However, the last two looked similar in appearance. They both had pink hair, pink eyes, and what looked like cat ears sticking out of their head. These were two members of the Diclonii race, and one of them just so happened to be the queen. These five individuals - Kouta, Yuka, Mayu, Nana, and Nyuu - had come from out of town, hearing of the wondrous tales of the kind of fun things that went on at Watanagashi. Deciding to check things out for themselves, they booked a train ride to go all the way from Kamakura over to Hinamizawa, to experience said fun things for themselves.
Nyuu: Nyuu, nyuu! Kouutaaa, Kouutaaaa!~
Nyuu tugged on the boy's shirt, pointing at a vendor who was giving out some strange plush animal, that looked like a lion.
Kouta: Oh, you want that lion plush? Heheh, alright Nyuu, let's go.
Kouta said with a smile, patting the pink-haired girl on the head as he walked past her and lead her to the vendor. This left a sulking Yuka, Kouta's cousin, to cross her arms and pout...
Yuka: Hmph! He's always going off with that Nyuu! Why won't he ever spend any time with me...
Mayu: I know Kouta cares about all of us, Yuka. I don't know why, but this is something Nyuu wanted to do with him. She deserves to be happy too.
Yuka: Yeah but... he's always spending time with her.. sigh, I guess you are right though. It isn't too much to worry about.
Nana: Let's go guys, we have to follow them! I want one of the lions too!

(Cue Analogy)
Meanwhile, deep within the forest of Hinamizawa, a group of soldiers were moving out. The Mountain Dogs were preparing to begin this year's Hinamizawa Syndrome epidemic, at the order of Major Takano. A man with a long, pointy nose was reviewing some papers Takano had left to him, sipping on a mug of coffee as it was going to be a long night for them.
Okonogi: Jeez... I can't believe this year finally might be it. I'm tired of working on this damned job... A girl with horns huh? That's who we gotta look out for? Heheh, what the hell is Major Takano even thinkin'..
Then, that's when an unnamed soldier walked into the pitched up tent that Okonogi was positioned in, saluting his superior.
Soldier: Sir! We've picked up sight of who we believe to be the target. Your orders?
Okonogi: ...Huh. Yeah, go bring 'em in. The Major wants 'em alive, got that?
Soldier: Yes sir, right away sir!
With that exchange, the soldier once again saluted, before hurrying off to rally up other soldiers to abduct their main target. However, little did they know, the girl which they were after was not their target of Oyashiro-sama, but rather the Queen of the Diclonii.

(Cue Higurashi Kai OST - Wandering Words Lead to Heaven)
A boy and several other girls were standing outside of what appeared to be a shrine, a large wooden platform set up before them. However, these people were not the group that had arrived from out of Hinamizawa, no, they were natives to the village. At least, all except for one of them was.
Keiichi Maebara, the boy and non-native in question, yawned slightly as he stood with his arms crossed and looking at the platform. He was tired, but he had promised Rika Furude, the shrine maiden of the small, quiet town, that he would spectate her dance - the annual Watanagashi performance ritual that the shrine maiden was required to carry out every year.
Beside him, Rena, Satoko, Mion, and Shion stood silently. They waited with patience unequalled, for they knew how important this upcoming ritualistic dance was. Though, another figure stood in front of them.
The girl with horns stared up at the platform, ready to see Rika's performance as well. Although, this readiness was unlike the others; there almost seemed to be a child-like wonder in her gaze.
Hanyuu, Oyashiro-sama, the identity of the very god this village worshipped, was right in the middle of the crowd awaiting Rika's dance. Unknown to everyone else, minus Rika and Hanyuu herself.
Hanyuu: Hauu-au... I'm sure Rika's going to do amazing!
Keiichi chuckled at this, patting Furude Hanyuu on the back as he smirked.
Keiichi: No doubt about it! I'm not sure what kind of performance this is exactly, but I know Rika can't mess it up.
The smaller girl smiled up at him, but then drums echoed across the townsfolk. The ritual was about to begin... and they all had front row seats. Rika Furude stepped out onto the platform, wearing the miko outfit and holding the hoe in hand, and smiled out to everyone. Though, once the dance began, her face became instantly serious, as the crowd watched on silently.
Rena: It's starting, and Rena looks so kyute in that shrine maiden outfit!
Rena commented on what she saw ahead of her quietly, still getting across her excitement of seeing something so kyute that she wanted to take it home yet while still remaining respectful to everything else happening around her. After all, she knew what would likely happen if Oyashiro-sama was disrespected...
Though, as for Oyashiro herself, something caught the goddess' attention. A branch snapping in the distance, a sound that her enhanced senses clued her in on with no one else seeming to notice.
Nigh-instantaneously, Hanyuu's mind flashed back to what seemed to be memories of the past. Though, in truth, these were the remnants, the fragments, of previous worlds, previous timelines, previous universes. Ones in which many unfortunate events occurred, and ones in which the villagers of Hinamizawa - especially Keiichi and the girls - all met brutal and tragic ends. This was her chance...
Hanyuu looked over at Rika's dance, and sadly smiled over at her dancing figure.
Hanyuu: I'll be back soon, Rika...
And without any further words, Oyashiro-sama vanished into thin air, completely avoiding the sight of any villagers or her friends.

(Cue Higurashi OST - Hayashi)
Soldier: Sir, we've got the one.
A group of Mountain Dogs strolled back to their superior, Okonogi, and with them was a girl who was knocked out. Said girl, one of the ones out of the first group - Nyuu - was being rolled on a stretcher. Her wrists were bound tight, so that she could not so easily free herself. Okonogi looked over at the mercenary operating the stretcher, before down at Nyuu, and then back up at the merc.
Okonogi: So, this is the so-called 'god' Major Takano wanted us to seize, ey? Heh, she really is a horned-teenager, huh? Alright, well, make sure she can't free herself. The Major won't be pleased if she ends up breaking free and goin' back to tell everyone.
The soldiers, once again, gave Okonogi a salute, before marching off and rolling the pink-haired girl away. This left Okonogi sighing slightly, sipping on the same coffee mug as earlier. He was tired of this same old job, and ready to move out from under Takano's command. And finally, it looked as though-
SLICE!
SPLASH!
SPLAT!
The distinct noise of something being crushed- no, cut, and a bunch of "wetness" that followed caught the attention of Tetsurou Okonogi. He stopped mid-sip, and just listened. After a bit of listening for something else, he slowly placed down the mug on the table, rising to his feet and grabbing a gun from around his waist.
(Cue Inside)
Remaining silent, Okonogi stepped out of the tent, checking his surroundings. It was dark and cold, as expected of a late night in the woods. However, the chill running through his body was not something of a tangible nature. No, it was far more abstract, Far more primal. Far more... fearful.
For right in front of him was a scene that one would struggle to find the words to even describe. Blood splattered across the ground, the bushes, the grass, the trees... organs - both whole and sliced to pieces - littered the ground. Tetsurou stumbled back, collapsing backwards and onto his back as he stared up at the being which stood before him.
It was the girl with the pink hair, although, something seemed vastly different about her. Her eyes - it was her eyes. The eyes of a demon, of the Devil himself. It loomed over Okonogi, staring down at him with its soul-piercing gaze. The leader of the Mountain Dogs audibly gulped, he had not expected such a reaction. However, he noticed the bodies strewn about the girl, the blood which covered her. It was the bodies of those under him.
His fear... turned into slight excitement, was this a fight? Yes, he longed for one of those! So then... why couldn't he raise his gun. He attempted to move his arm, but he couldn't move. What..?-
Lucy: You, miserable creature... disgusting, cretin. Are you the one behind this... 'operation'?
Okonogi's thoughts were not allowed to finish, as Nyuu - no, LUCY - spoke up. He crawled backwards, working his muscles overtime just to lift his gun while moving away from this... this demon.
Lucy: You... you hurt Kouta.... I could give less of a shit about the others but, you... you hurt Kouta. You killed Kouta. You killed him. But, you shouldn't fear, puny human... you will not die. You shouldn't have woken me up... for I plan to make your torture last for as long as I possibly can.
Okonogi grimaced, but then he willed himself to pull the trigger on his gun. And thus, he shouted a simple command towards Lucy:
Okonogi: DIE, YOU DAMN MONSTER!
However, as the sound of the bullet exiting the gun echoed over the area, the sound of blood dripping and fluids swishing did not match. In fact, they weren't present at all. Before the bullet had even impacted her, Lucy had mysteriously done something to it. What exactly, Tetsurou could not tell nor could he see.
Lucy: Nice try, you miserable parasite.
However, as she was fixing to do the exact same thing Okonogi as she had done to the other Mountain Dogs, a lightning bolt struck in between the two opposing forces. Lucy backpedaled slightly, the sudden flash of light somewhat startling her, however a mere startle wouldn't stop her. Though, it did make her angry that it gave Okonogi enough time to scramble away even further.
The Diclonius Queen looked up to the sky, seeing it begin to rain from the dark clouds that surrounded them. She grumbled somewhat, before looking back down towards Okonogi. She would have gone back to pursuing and existentially torturing the poor, long-nosed fool, if it were not for another voice that pierced her ears.
???: Stop right there!
(Cue When Cicadas Sing - Therewolf Media)
It was a high voice. A feminine voice. Almost the voice like that of a child. ...An annoying voice. Who exactly was interfering in this private confrontation? Lucy turned to face who exactly was calling out to her.
Lucy: Who are you? Who is that?
The one responsible for the child-like voice stepped out of the tree-line, yet another girl with horns. Though, this lavender-haired one had much more of a cutesy persona than the pink-haired one. HANYUU was the one to have intervened.
Hanyuu: Step away from him, Child of Man. I understand he hurt you, that he hurt a lot of people, but it wasn't of his own actions. It was that of someone else. You've done enough, you don't have to seal your fate by murdering him in cold blood!
Lucy scoffed at this somewhat. Just who did this little girl in the miko dress think she was?
Lucy: Do not call me 'child of man'... and 'seal my fate'? Heh, heheh... just what do you think I've been doing my entire life? This miserable man is nothing more than another drop in the bucket; there is nothing different between him and all of the previous.
Hanyuu: A bucket that is already overflowing! Violence is not the answer here. Not to him, or to these people who are just doing their jobs. There are others you should turn your fury against-
Lucy was having none of it. Before Furude Hanyuu could finish her sentiment, the carrier queen had already launched an attack at her. What appeared to be invisible limbs launched forward, reaching out for the child-like woman.
Hanyuu's eyes widened at this, but instead of recoiling in fear, she merely closed those widened eyes.
...And then she opened them.
Hanyuu: -...I warned you.
FIGHT![]
Within an instant, the invisible limbs paused in mid-air. They attempted to rush forward and all pierce into the child-like goddess' flesh, however they were being held back by an equally unseen force.
Hanyuu motioned forward with her arm, as Lucy's vectors launched back towards her. The Diclonius Queen widened her eyes, however quickly dodged out of the way by sprouting several more vectors and using them to push herself away. Hinamizawa's protector swiftly floated into the air, rushing in and going to slam Lucy into some trees.
However, the murderous queen would merely bring up her vectors once more, stopping Hanyuu before she could advance.
Lucy: Be silenced...
She brought the vectors upwards, launching Hanyuu into the air as she followed her upwards. Once she breached above the tops of the trees, Lucy looked around with predator-like senses.
Lucy: Come out, and face m- !?
The Diclonius Queen was cut off when several trees from the forest below were launched up towards her. Lucy quickly summoned more vectors, using them to grab hold of the projectiles before they could land on her. Hanyuu flew up towards her, her eyes still glowing that slight shade of red as she went to slam into Lucy's midsection. However, the dark side of Nyuu was ready, and returned the trees to sender, swinging them around like a fury of baseball bats.
Hanyuu was smashed with the first few attacks, however she regained her composure and held her arm up as the next few battings came swiping down at her. They were stopped in mid-air, once again similar to how the vectors before were stopped.
Hanyuu: Au-au-au... please stop! No one has to get hurt!
Lucy grimaced at this, however a smirk crossed over her face as the vectors that were holding onto the trees Hanyuu stopped began to coil across the stump and the branches. They reached out towards Hanyuu, as the goddess of Hinamizawa looked up at them with a shocked expression.
Simultaneously, all of the vectors began to vibrate at a high frequency, as a massive explosion overtook the sky and destroyed the trees, blasting Furude back into the forest below.
Lucy: You won't get away again so easily...
The ground below ruptured, as vectors which Lucy had kept beneath the surface exploded upwards and engulfed the entire area in an atomic-like explosion. This caused the forest bed to be completely incinerated - trees, grass, plants, and animals - all burned within the inferno as Hanyuu was deprived of a break from the fighting. Lucy chuckled as she launched downwards, using the invisible limbs that sprouted from her back to guide her through the destruction.
Though Hanyuu was ready for this, and a bright light exploded from her body as the vectors reached out. The arms were atomized, and seemingly wiped out of existence. Following this, Oyashiro-sama would hold her arms to the sky, causing several more trees to be rooted out of the ground and angled towards a recoiling Lucy. They spun at supersonic speeds, the ends which formerly pierced the sky now turned into sharp points like a spear.
Hanyuu: You're making this exceedingly difficult, au-au-au! I don't want to bring harm to you, you have people that care about you; but if you keep going, then your sins cannot be overlooked!
Lucy narrowed her eyes at the alien goddess, more vectors sprouting from her back as the ones which kept her suspended in the air continued to be firmly planted into the now-molten ground.
Lucy: What do you know about sins? I already told you: You have NO idea what I've been through!
Oyashiro-sama sighed, before throwing her arms forward. This caused the sharpened trees to blast ahead, spinning like bullets having just exited the chamber of a rifle. The Diclonius Carrier responded by throwing her fists (the invisible ones) towards the trees, as the two long-ranged assaults clashed with one another.
A massive explosion detonated in the sky, an airburst echoing across the landscape. Yeah, there was no way in hell the people in the village didn't hear what was going on.
But contradicting that, no one seemed to bat an eye. Were they just that focused on the dance, too scared to act, or perhaps something else? Regardless of what it was, the two horned girls paid no mind to it as they continued their brawl.
The Hinamizawa goddess rushed through the explosion which had detonated across the sky, this time forming what seemed to be a makeshift blade she had made from the wood of the destroyed trees. Lucy launched herself back, opting to stay out of reach as she spawned more vectors and launched them at Hanyuu.
Oyashiro swiftly darted around each vector, every strike piling up further into the sky and causing massive booms of sound. The Diclonius Queen growled, as she closed the distance herself.
Hanyuu, seeming shocked that the carrier would take such a bold move, reacted with great haste like that of lightning, striking true with her sword. However, the sword seemed to pass through Lucy, leaving the horned goddess to widen her eyes.
Hanyuu: Wh-wh-wha- OOOWOOWW AUAU!
Hanyuu was slammed in the back with yet another barrage of blows from the vectors. However, this time, before she could fall down to the foliage below, Lucy grabbed hold of the Ryuun with the invisible arms, holding her arms up to her sides and binding her ankles together. The resulting grapple resembled like that of putting the goddess on a cross.
The mutant held Hanyuu in front of her, analyzing the goddess with a sense of hatred and annoyance. More of the see-through limbs sprouted from Lucy's back, though now they were more noticeable, having increased in visibility thanks to her anger. Another, smaller limb emerged from Lucy's back, as it angled itself down and readied to pierce into Hanyuu's skull.
Lucy: Such a... fragile mind... How pathetic, you talked such a big game, yet this is the response I get to confronting you. Don't worry, I'll make your death quick.
Lucy's vector simultaneously reached into Hanyuu's head, causing the goddess to freeze up and for her to spasm slightly. Piercing through her skull and into her brain, Hanyuu's nerves were attacked and scrambled, causing the physical body of the goddess to become completely immobile. Finally, Lucy brought Hanyuu close to her, gripping her by the neck and applying pressure until she heard a snap.
After making sure the child-like god's eyes rolled up into the back of her head, the Diclonius Queen tossed Furude Hanyuu into the forest below with a look of contempt. Though, as she did so, reality began to swirl around her.
Looking around, Lucy was swept up in a purple-colored vortex, before being slammed into the ground. Hanyuu floated in the air, as a storm which had brewed overhead began spamming down lightning bolts at the pink-haired mutant.
The Hinamizawa goddess had casted an illusion over Lucy before the clash of their projectiles, which had given her enough time to conjure a storm and set it up to attack the Diclonius Queen. This would not last for long though, as Kaede let out a colossal scream which was both a combination of pain and exertion, as a forcefield was conjured around her. This stopped the lightning from barraging her, and gave her enough time to collect her thoughts.
Lucy angled her head upwards, grimacing up at the horned goddess. Her fingers twitched, slowly balling up into fists as her anger began to increase. Once more, vectors began to extend out of her back, though this time they were much larger and even more visible than before. Lucy held her hand to the sky, as the forcefield began to expand outward slightly and her eyes began to grow a deeper crimson to reflect her anger. With a sudden burst of movement, Lucy dropped the forcefield and launched herself up towards Furude.
She grabbed hold of her quickly, making sure to avoid the lightning which was still raining down, before throwing her into the air and slicing her over and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again with her vectors. This caused the goddess' blood to splatter every which way, polluting the air and staining Lucy's own clothes. The Diclonius Queen listened to Hanyuu's pained screams and whimpers as she began to chuckle with a hint of maniacal pleasure.
Lucy: Heh, heheheheheh.... ahahahaha..! What a pathetic excuse for a creature... It feels so good, to just let all my frustrations out on you. Try not to die so easily like the others, ok?
She kept barraging Hanyuu with rapid assaults from her vectors, however as the bloodbath continued, the Diclonius' vision was blinded by a bright shining light, comparable to that of the sun itself. She covered her eyes, as her vectors were erased and she was sent falling towards the ground below.
Hanyuu: It won't be so easy, Child of Man....
Hanyuu floated in the air, her dress cut and torn, blood staining it and seeping from the cuts in her flesh. However, the dress began to mend itself, as Hanyuu's wounds began to repair themselves.
Hanyuu: You may be strong, but I have a miracle on my side! A miracle that lets me save the people of this village!
Holding her arms downwards, she took control of Lucy's fall, redirecting it back up to launch up towards her. Hanyuu summoned another makeshift blade made from the debris of the destroyed forest into her hands, rushing in and slicing through Lucy. This left a giant gash across the Diclonius Queen's abdomen, which Hanyuu capitalized on by seemingly teleporting behind the mutant and slashing once more, before repeating the process over and over again.
Lucy: ENOUGH!
Lucy knocked Hanyuu away with her just-regenerated vectors, holding her arm in slight pain. However, she shook it off and planted herself to the ground once more with more of the invisible limbs.
The two horned girls rushed in towards one another, clashing and exchanging attacks with one another. Sword VS vector, god VS mutant, alien VS human. The two didn't let up, Hanyuu's sword being enforced with magical energy while Lucy's vectors worked overtime to make sure to keep Hanyuu away while causing damage to their target.
Airbursts and shockwaves boomed across the sky, piling up as the two moved at supersonic speeds across the sky. It could've been called a beautiful spectacle, if not for the destruction which was being laid waste to down below.
After an exchange of clashing attacks, the two flew (or "flew" in Lucy's case) backwards, with Hanyuu once again firing off another burst of cosmic light while Lucy shot more vectors towards Hanyuu. The two attacks clashed with one another, causing another massive nuclear-like explosion over the sky.
THIS one seemed to catch the attention of the Hinamizawa people, as both horned individuals could hear screaming, yelling, and sheer panic coming from the village below. Oyashiro looked down at her people's shared confusion and fear, before angling her head back towards Lucy. With a grunt, Furude Hanyuu closed the distance quickly, slamming her body into the pink-haired mutant's own, and causing the two to begin barreling towards the ground below.
Hanyuu kept pelting the Diclonius Queen's back with blow after blow, the two still spiraling towards the hard rocky surface below them. Lucy gripped onto Hanyuu's miko outfit with her right hand, then used her left to take hold of the goddess' horns. She pulled to the side, which only contributed to the spiral as they fell even further.
Hanyuu: It's time I put an end to this battle! You're causing way too much damage to be let off the hook!
Lucy: Like I would care... Tell me goddess, what is it that you're afraid of? I wish to KNOW!
Lucy jerked Hanyuu's head one more time, causing their path to be altered just enough so that they smashed into a tree branch. Or rather, the back of Hanyuu's head hit the branch, causing her to freeze up and widen her eyes in pain. This gave Lucy enough leverage to turn the piledrive around and slam Hanyuu face-first into the dirt.
BOOFYOOOOM!
Emerging from the crater which had formed as a result of their landing, Lucy rose to her feet and looked down at Hanyuu. Vectors emerged out of her back for what seemed to be the last time, as the pink-haired girl prepared to finish things quickly.
Lucy: Hmph... clear away and die.
The vectors rushed in at Hanyuu's forehead, going to slice clean through it. However, that's when they stopped once more in mid-air, as Kaede angrily stared down at Hanyuu. With a growl and a furrow of her brow, she let out a howl and began wailing on Hanyuu with her vectors. Though they too were stopped by an unseen force.
Lucy: JUST. DIE. ALREADY!
Oyashiro-sama inhaled, before exhaling, as she too rose from the dusty crater. Her eyes pierced the dust cloud which had formed, now a bloody red color. The god's eyes struck through Lucy's being, paralyzing her where she stood.
HOWEVER, I AM NOW AT MY LIMIT. IF YOU DO NOT HEED THIS FINAL WARNING, OBEY THE VOICE OF GOD, THEN I WILL END THIS QUICKLY.
Lucy stared ahead with a distinct sense of fear filling her body, though that sense of fear was soon replaced with tiredness. The Diclonius stumbled back some, collapsing to her knees and then to her side.
Lucy: Kou... Kou... ta... your voice, is that, your voice?? I.... I'm sorry, Kouta..... I promised I would try and, try and become... better.. I...
And then... darkness overtook everything, from Lucy's point of view.
Hanyuu floated down and touched to the ground, letting out a small sigh. It was a tough fight, but everything seemed to work out ay-okay- ...No, wait, something was up...
The ground began to quake around the two horned girls, crevices emerging in the forest floor and causing the trees and bushes nearby to fall into the chasms.
Lucy: Kou... ta.. You...
Lucy struggled out, as she rose to her feet and stared with one glowing red eye towards Hanyuu. Her face seemed to be that of a demon's, ready to kill its mortal prey, her horns having grown in size both signifying her growth in strength and her further ascent to the status close to a demon. This caused Hanyuu's eyes to widen, as the Diclonius Queen began trudging towards her. Like an all-encompassing void, Lucy's presence bared down around Furude's figure, causing the goddess immense terror.
Hanyuu: Au-au.... Stay away!
However, Lucy merely smirked, ignoring her commands as she trudged closer. Her vectors extended out of her back, as the Diclonius chastised Oyashiro.
Lucy: Stay away? No, you're supposed to protect your people... why won't you do so? Stand up... STAND UP AND FIGHT ME! No, you are, just as much of a monster as I am. Don't try and act so high and mighty... DEMON!
Lucy's vectors rushed forward, puncturing Hanyuu all over. The pink-haired woman cackled maniacally, as she kept tearing and ripping into the goddess' flesh. Hanyuu let out pained yells, before Lucy tossed her up into the air once more, before ramming straight through her with the invisible limbs.
Hanyuu's body dispersed into crystalline structures, shattering into pieces as Lucy stood there with a smirk over her face. However, that's when the sky seemed to darken, as Lucy looked upwards. Rain began to pelt across the ground, as Oyashiro-sama's voice boomed across the land. Or, more accurately, it seemed to be coming from within the femme fatale's head, causing her to hold her head in pain.
Although Lucy pushed through this, and let out a howl as the vectors now became fully visible and grew to the size of entire city blocks. As Furude reappeared on the tree line, her eyes now glowing fully crimson, her miko dress was flowing up as magical power surged around her. An entire figure seemed to stand up, made entirely of the vectors with Lucy in the middle. She stared down at Hanyuu, growling as her power increased further.
Lucy's vectors launched forward, going to slam into Hanyuu, though the goddess rushed around them, swerving out of the way of the biological mutations. They hit the ground below, causing massive earthquakes and eruptions of flame as they piled around the forest bed. Lucy continued spamming vectors downward from the giant mass of now-visible limbs, and Hanyuu broke through the assault with a burst of light which erased them from existence.
The mutated human growled, before using some of the vectors which were launched into the ground to reverse their trajectory back up at Hanyuu, grabbing her. The alien goddess struggled to break free, but more vectors piled into the raging mass of tendril-like appendages. Though, through the writhing mass, a bright blue-hued light shone outwards, as a forcefield was deployed around Hanyuu's body.
The forcefield expanded at a sudden rate, completely disintegrating the mass of vectors. Hanyuu narrowed her glowing crimson gaze up at Lucy, before rushing upwards and going to ram straight into the other girl with horns.
Lucy tried to bring her arms up, blocking whatever was coming her way, but everything flashed to white...
Slowly opening her eyes, Lucy found herself in a mysterious other place. This, didn't look like the Hinamizawa forest they were just battling over. It looked like another dimension entirely.
Lucy: Where... where is..?
Kaede's head turned confusedly, trying to take in the dimension around her.
There were multiple crystalline structures floating around the tiled stretch of "ground" that she was standing on, with each crystal seeming to portray an alternate universe. Another timeline, where events perhaps turned out differently. Beyond them outstretched a pitch black void, extending on for infinity and only being illuminated by the cosmic dust which swirled around the plane.
???: Welcome, to the Sea of Fragments..
Lucy's eyes widened, turning to face wherever that voice came from. Hanyuu stepped in through a bright light which cast its luminescence on the ground, the goddess' shoes clacking against the hard tile. Oyashiro gazed at Lucy with a sense of pity. This look, made Kaede very angry. She let out a yell, launching more vectors towards Hanyuu.
However, the Fragments, the very crystallized forms of universes which decorated the plane began swirling in a bright light, all coalescing into Hanyuu's grasp. The goddess held her arm out, the light instantly dismantling the vectors. Lucy's eyes widened, as she stumbled back. Though, this was no ordinary stumble... her body was apparently melting. Tears dotted the Diclonius' eyes, as she looked back over at Furude Hanyuu.
Lucy: What, are you?
Hanyuu: Simple. I am the one who shall forgive your sins, Child of Man.
Then, from the luminescence which had gathered in Hanyuu's grasp, a sword appeared. Its multi-pronged blade stretched out a decent ways, as the alien goddess pointed it towards Kaede.
Lucy: I... I don't... need... I DON'T NEED YOUR FORGIVENESS!
In a fit of furious wrath, the deadly Diclonius launched forth her vectors one final time, going to slam them at Hanyuu with nuclear-like strength. However, the sword merely launched out energy beams from its three prongs, vaporizing the vectors and leaving Lucy helpless and Hanyuu rushed in and stabbed Onigari-no-Ryuouu straight through her gut.
Kaede's eyes widened, as her back was blown open by the supernatural blade, her flesh now being weakened thanks to melting. Hanyuu gripped the handle tightly, as beams of the very concept of light blasting from the blade's ends, launching Lucy further back into the Sea of Fragments.
The dark side of Nyuu plowed straight through several Fragments, before smashing through one giant one which in turn cracked the sky of the dimension. Following this, the entire fourth-wall's perspective was shattered and they once again found themselves in Hinamizawa...
Lucy fell through the sky, burning up as she was launched back into time and space. Her horns were damaged, cracked and shattered, and her body was quickly being reduced to nothing but like that of a puddle of melted ice cream. Her eyes looked up, watching as Hanyuu emerged through a light in the air.
Seeing the alien goddess rapidly approaching her, the tears which had welled in her eyes could only fall away as she used the last bit of strength she had in an attempt to overcome Hanyuu's power. More vectors emerged from her back, lauching up towards Hanyuu. Hanyuu held Onigari-no-Ryuouu to the sky, slashing downwards.
It was only a moment, before a large energy slash flew down at Lucy's body. It cleaved into it, causing Lucy to let out a howl of pain and fall towards the ground. She slammed into it, the slash kicking up dirt and trees. An explosion further caused her melted body to evaporate into the air, her tears also being incinerated into flame.
Lucy... no, Kaede... could only reach her hand out, with the flesh peeling and melting, leaving not even the bone left. Her fingers extended out towards the sun, which was blocked out by Hanyuu's shadow. It appeared as if an angel was descending to personally allow her up into Heaven. But, Kaede did not care. No, the only thing she thought about in her final moments was....
Kaede: Kou... ta..
Hanyuu: I, forgive you, Child of Man.
And then, Hanyuu swung through Kaede's body, cleaving it in two and causing a massive rift in the landscape around them. The Diclonius body was eviscerated, as reality once again cracked open.
K.O.!
???[]
It was, quite loud... the sound of the birds chirping. The whistling of the wind, the brushing of the leaves, the evening cry of the cicadas.
"Where, am I?"
Was the only thought the girl had in her head, as she opened her eyes. The bright light shined through, nearly blinding her with its glory. Her pink eyes scanned the sky, as a familiar face loomed above her. It was...
"Kouta..?"
The figure shook their head, though they graced the girl with a smile. Now that the girl's vision was coming into view, she could see that the other figure was also female. It was a woman with strange lavender hair and, horns... just like her. Nyuu blinked.
Nyuu: N-nyuu..?
Hanyuu: Hello, Child of Man. Hauu-au-auu, I'm glad you finally woke up! If it took any longer, my friends may have started to get a bit worried!
Hanyuu let out a giggle, as she brushed Nyuu's hair out of her face. The pink-haired, innocent young woman let out a puff of air, as she sat up swiftly and hugged Hanyuu.
Nyuu: Nyuu, nyuu! Kouta, where is... Koutaaaa?
Hanyuu merely smiled, and hugged her back.
Hanyuu: Don't worry, your friend is safe. I promised to forgive, but I thought I'd do a bit more for you.
As Nyuu sat back from the hug, she looked a bit confused at what Hanyuu meant. But, regardless, she was just happy to be affirmed that Kouta was okay. With a grin, the girl with horns giggled.
Nyuu: You have horns, horns like Nyuu!
Hanyuu: Oh? These...? Auu-auau... They're something else. But, they look nice on you!
The two young-looking women giggled to each other, before Hanyuu stood up and began walking off out of the forest. She looked behind her at Nyuu, offering her hand.
Hanyuu: Come on, I'll introduce you to my friends back at the village! And maybe you can introduce me to yours, as well!
Nyuu: Nyuu, nyuu!
Excitedly pumping her fists, Nyuu hopped up and ran after Hanyuu. As they kept walking deeper into the forest, the camera zooms out to the outer-bounds of the universe, where an older-looking Hanyuu was sitting at a chessboard. She had her hands together, almost in a prayer.
"May we meet again, in another Fragment, When Another One Cries."
Results[]
Boomstick: Woah... that almost seemed almost like a way too wholesome ending for these two. Eh, oh well, I ain't complaining.
Wiz: This match was certainly interesting to look into, and both combatants held their own fair share of advantages here.
Boomstick: Yeah, like how there were many abilities the two shared in common - storm creation, illusions, forcefield barriers, you get the idea. Also, there was no way Hanyuu was physically as strong or as fast as our good ol' gal Kaede.
Wiz: Additionally, many more of the Diclonius Queen's abilities were directly tailored to combat scenarios, while Hanyuu's powers were much more focused in a mystery setting. Higurashi is a mystery novel, after all.
Boomstick: So then, how exactly did Hinamizawa's protector emerge from this the victor you may be asking? Well, it's quite simple really. There was really no way Lucy could actually, y'know, kill her to be quite honest.
Wiz: The immortality and conceptual-level regeneration that all Meta-World beings share, is to be quite honest, insane. There is no way you can directly kill one of their "pieces" permanently without directly attacking the source of their power. That of course being their true selves in the Meta-World; Hanyuu is no exception to the rule.
Boomstick: Basically, what Wiz is saying in non-confusing terms is that no matter how much damage Lucy did to the avatar of Hanyuu, it would never be enough to kill her. Wait, but wouldn't Kaede's advantages in both speed and attack power, not to mention her plain busted pain tolerance and battle spirit, mean that no matter what Hanyuu did she couldn't kill her either?
Wiz: Well, not exactly. But let's give Lucy the benefit of the doubt and say she holds the advantage in speed by scaling to her space-faring vectors travel speed (which on its own would be dubious, as Hanyuu has kept up with beings who could dodge her light attacks), this would give her a speed to upwards of Mach 1547, potentially even higher if you cross-scaled this back to her feat of catching the bullet before it could penetrate through her heart.
Boomstick: Let's also assume the statement in regards to Kaede destroying the world was absolutely literal. It makes sense, as the space vectors energy came out to something which could bust the moon nearly ten times over. At absolute best, taking the highest possible scaling we can give this and just saying that Kaede was going to COMPLETELY subatomically reduce it to nothingness.
Wiz: This would come out to about 10 MILLION yottatons of TNT. That's enough to destroy a smaller-sized star.
Boomstick: You would think that this combined with the fact she was faster would be enough to net Nyuu the win, no? Well think again!
Wiz: Remember when Hanyuu fought against the not-Featherine, the other Oyashiro-sama, Eua? The same one who could manipulate the entire conceptual form of universes?
Boomstick: Yeaaaahhhhhh, as impressive as Lucy's destructive power is in this scenario, it has nothing on manipulating entire universes. Especially when you consider that Eua was doing this rather casually.
Wiz: Hanyuu's true self also exists beyond the fifth-dimension, meaning that there was no way Lucy could ever possibly interact with her. Unless of course, Hanyuu dragged her into the Sea of Fragments.
Boomstick: Which brings up its own fair share of problems for Lucy! There she's completely vulnerable to being attacked on a physical, mental, spiritual, and conceptual level all at once, only made worse due the power gap between the two.
Wiz: On top of all this, Hanyuu could always just sort of... end the fight easily by putting Lucy to sleep via the Voice of God. It would force a personality swap, causing Lucy to switch back into Nyuu. While she isn't completely defenseless as Nyuu is, she isn't as experienced or even remotely as combat-ready as her darker personality.
Boomstick: Couple that with the fact Hanyuu could just send Lucy's soul back through time, permanently kill her with the Looper-killer sword, or just plain eviscerate her off the face of reality with those fancy pew-pew existence erasing light blasts, and you start to see why Lucy had things stacked against her.
Wiz: Kaede may have held the title of Queen in her court and had an easy fighting experience edge, but Hanyuu's greater arsenal, power, and abilities spelt doom for this Diclonius.
Boomstick: This fight sure was a song to the senses... dear god, that pun makes me want to cry- Gh, eggghhhhh, hey Wiz... why do I feel.. like I've gotten way more drunk than I usually do- ERGH! RAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH!
*Wiz lets out a yell, as the Hinamizawa Syndrome-infected Boomstick leaps at him from across the room, beginning to batter him into the ground.*
Wiz: AH- Th- THE WINNER IS... HANYUU FURUD-EEEEEYYYYYY OW OW OW!-

Next Time![]
???: I've been waiting a long time for this moment. Soon, Donkey Kong and his pretty little island... will be no more.
???: ZEHAHAHAHAHAHA!
King K. Rool VS Blackbeard (Donkey Kong VS One Piece)
Music Track[]
The OST for this would be called "When Cicadas Sing", referencing both direct English translations of their respective series' titles (When The Cicadas Cry and Elven Song, respectively). It's also a reference to the distinct sound of cicadas that can be heard in both series' background noise at times.
The cover art would consist of Onigari-no-Ryuouu, the sword which denies Loopers their time powers and kills them permanently and the blade which Hanyuu is most known for wielding, being held by Kaede/Lucy's vectors. Two of the vectors are holding the handle, while two others are in the process of gripping the actual bladed end of the sword. One of the "bladed-end" vectors is gripping the tip of the blade, while one is on its way to hold one of the pronged ends.
Trivia[]
- The connections between Hanyuu and Kaede/Lucy are:
- They're both horned individuals from popular 'gore anime' (Higurashi and Elfen Lied respectively).
- They're both the target of some research facility and the corrupt staff (Hanyuu is the prime target of the Irie Institute and the Tokyo Organization being spearheaded by Chief Takano Miyo, who are abducting and murdering people in order to research Hinamizawa Syndrome and using Oyashiro as a cover-up; Lucy and all of the other Diclonii are kept in the Diclonius Research Institute which is spearheaded by Chief Kakuzawa who is secretly trying to spread the Diclonius race over Earth's population).
- Both are given names by said organization/facility (Oyashiro-sama and Lucy, respectively), which while technically part of their real identities, are nothing more than titles that others gave to them.
- Together with a very determined boy and a squad of other girls (Keiichi, Rena, Rika, Satoko, Mion, and Shion; Kouta, Yuka, Mayu, and Nana), they battle against special forces soldiers which are sent after them (the Mountain Dogs and the Special Assault Team).
- Both are typically depicted as cutesy, with their cute personalities granting them a nickname (Bernkastel later calls Featherine "Auaurora" in Umineko, likely a reference to the popular fan theory that Hanyuu is a lower manifestation of Featherine with Bernkastel being the future version of Rika Furude; Kaede is given the nickname 'Nyuu' for her innocent and cute personality by Kouta).
- Both are known for phrases which represent their cute personality (Hanyuu is known for saying "Au au auu" when things are either tough on her or she's frustrated; Nyuu's whole namesake comes from how she says 'Nyuu, nyuu!' all the time).
- However, despite their cute personalities, they hold a dark personality behind said cute one (Hanyuu is actually a centuries-old god that is beyond both time and space, and she's become increasingly pessimistic towards reality. It's even theorized her true form could be Featherine who later appears in Umineko; Kaede has the persona named 'Lucy', which is pretty much the embodiment of the evil side of herself. Lucy is one that Kaede's more murdery tendencies went into after she got shot in the head).
- The battle would be animated in sprites, with some hand-drawn moments sprinkled throughout.
