History[]
John Hancock’s history stretches back over 3,000 years. He and a group of other immortals lived in ancient Greece and Rome, and were worshipped as gods come to earth. Each of these immortals had a counterpart, and in the presence of that counterpart, their powers wane until they become as easily hurt or killed as any mortal. With time, all of the other immortals died, except for Hancock and his counterpart.
Hancock and his counterpart, Mary, lived together for millennia, and he saved her numerous times, including once in 1850, when a group of attackers set fire to their house. In 1928, while the two were living in Miami, Florida, and Hancock was as vulnerable as any mortal, they were attacked again. Hancock suffered a blow to the head, and was rushed to a local hospital, with severe blood loss.
