History[]

Information about Gunvolt's past is largely obscured in mystery. Orphaned at a young age, he was captured by the Sumeragi Group and forced to participate in their inhumane experimentation projects at S-FIT, which involved implanting human beings with the gene possessing the strongest Septima known as "Azure Thunderclap", the ability to manipulate and control electrical energy. This project was known as "Project Gunvolt", and he was regarded as one of the few to be successfully compatible with the Septima. However, upon activating his power for the first time, he involuntarily released a massive blast of lightning that vaporized the entire research facility and its team of scientists - Dr.Kamizono (Copen's father) being among the casualties of this incident. He was later transferred to another Sumeragi research facility, where Asimov supposedly saved him and thus he came to see Asimov as a father figure. He then continued to work at the organization known as QUILL, whose goal is to take down the Sumeragi Group, which plans to control all the Adepts of the world to rule over it with the power of a computer program called Lumen. When Gunvolt nearly completes his final mission to destroy Lumen, he finds out that Lumen is a Septima of a young girl named Joule. He then disobeys orders to save her and leaves QUILL.

But his fight was not over, Sumeragi would use everything in their power to retrieve their virtual canary, and, in order to stop Sumeragi's actions for good, Gunvolt continued to work for QUILL through freelancer mercenary contracts, completing various missions to hinder their goals. But he could not hide Joule forever. Being found out, Sumeragi recaptures Joule, as Gunvolt is forced to give chase to Sumeragi's orbital elevator, "Babel". Where Sumeragi would carry out their plan to broadcast Joule's Septima, "The Muse", across the entire world. Defeating Project Muse's leader, Nova Tsukuyomi, Sumeragi's plan to use the Muse crumbled, and their grip on national peace from Adepts loosened. With the Adept's no longer in danger of being controlled, they are free to bring chaos into the world, and Gunvolt can not stop their uprising. Sooner or later, he will have to make a choice in the struggle between the humans and Adepts: will he fight for Adepts, or against them? The future is in his hands...

Death Battle Info[]

  • Height: 5'3" (160 cm)
  • Weight: Unknown
  • Age: 14
  • Aliases: The Azure Striker
  • Affiliation: Former QUILL agent, currently unaffiliated. Possibly Sumeragi in Gunvolt 3.

QUILL Training[]

  • As a former member of QUILL (and a top member). Gunvolt is adept at:
    • Stealth based missions
    • A form of karate known as Chatan-Yara Kusanku
    • Keeping a cool, calm and collected mindset... Most of the time

Notable Attacks and Techniques:[]

When he was young, Gunvolt was injected with artificial Septimosomes by Sumeragi for their experiment known as Project Gunvolt, in hopes of finding an infinite source of energy. These Septima Inducers, replicating the first Septima ever discovered in the world, the Azure Striker, would kill many test subjects incapable. Only two survived, and both broke out of Sumeragi's clutches, using their newfound Septima against them in the future.

Now attuned the the 7th Wave of the Lifewave, known as the Septimal Wave, Gunvolt now utilizes the Azure Striker Septima in the field as an Adept, said to have infinite potential as for how it can be used.

The Azure Striker Septima allows Gunvolt to wield electricity to his will for various purposes. Enormous lightning strikes and attacks, evoking magnetic fields for speed boosts, an enhanced bioelectric healing factor, increased bodily performance, and most importantly, in an age dominated by technology, capable of controlling electronics to his will, hacking into many devices, aside from the few "write-protected" devices via another Adept's Septima. Gunvolt has also demostrated to be able to dash through the air and jump multiple times with this Septima, and often infuses electricity with his martial art known as Chatan Yara Kushaku, an apparent form of Karate he learned during his time at QUILL.

Through his battles fighting the Adept supremist group Eden to prevent the eradication of humanity, Gunvolt has awakened a new power beyond Septima within himself. Ever since evolving into a "Primal Dragon" and the world's most powerful Adept, he has been sealed behind one thousand Glaives to suppress his massive amounts of power[1]. However, when teaming up with Kirin- who had sealed this tremendous strength off, the battle priestess can unleash his powers temporarily.

Dart Leader

  • His electromagnetic handgun, issued by QUILL to supplement his capabilities. While it is classified as electromagnetic, there is no need for an on board source for it to fire anything, as it's energy to fire comes from Gunvolt himself[2]. Thus, only Gunvolt and other Azure Strikers can wield it.
  • The Dart Leader fires metal darts made from his own hair known as Bolts. These darts do very little damage.
    • Instead, they "tag" enemies for Gunvolt's Flashfield to deal heavy damage with a homing stream of lightning.
    • He can "tag" three times, whether it's concentrated on one target or spread throughout multiple.
      • However, this can be augmented to tag from one to eight times, at the cost of dealing less damage with his Flashfield the more tags he uses, and vice versa
    • Gunvolt possesses multiple Bolt types that can change the Bolt's trajectories and attributes
      • Cerberus: Standard rapid fire bolts
      • Naga: If charged, the resulting shot will pierce walls and enemies, including whatever defenses they have, such as shields.
      • Mizuchi: The shot can be redirected when fired in many directions
      • Technos: Fires two shots diagonally up and down, the bullets travel along the ground and up walls and ceilings
      • Orochi: As soon as a shot is fired, a drone comes out to fire more darts in several directions, it can either fire upwards, or downwards.
      • Vasuki: If a shot hits, it will continue to attack other surrounding targets
      • Dullahan: Does not tag, but deals significant damage in return.
  • If needed, Gunvolt can attach his hair into the "tail plug" at the back of the weapon to fire a shot of electricity instead of any ammunition. If the muzzle size is compatible, Gunvolt can fire normal bullets as well.
  • In Azure Striker Gunvolt 3, whether it be from Gunvolt's new power being able to accelerate its bullets at absurd speeds or through a mechanical upgrade, now travels at breakneck speeds, instantly hitting foes upon firing at an absurd velocity. Capable of angling the trajectory of the shots he fires.

New Model Protect Armor

  • Gunvolt's outfit in Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. It's lightweight, and reacts to Gunvolt's Septima to increase in strength and toughness to increase performance in the field.
  • It uses data collected from Asimov to generate a special electromagnetic field that repulses and reduces the effects of certain magnetic Septima by harnessing Gunvolt's Septima

Tail Plug

  • A hair accessory worn by Gunvolt in Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. It accumulates surplus use of Gunvolt's Septima, acting as external batteries. In the event where he cannot use his Septima to the point where he cannot even power his Dart Leader (something that even Greed Snatcher couldn't cause), the Tail Plug can be used to power it instead.
Gunvolt has a huge selection of gear he can take out into a mission

Gunvolt's basic capabilities rely on what is known as "Electric Psycho Energy"[3], in game known as "EP". While primarily a game mechanic, what is important about this concept is what EP represents: Gunvolt's limit on how much he can utilize his Flashfield and Prevasion abilities, and that he must constantly manage it in battle before becoming vulnerable.

  • Flashfield
    • The Flashfield is an omnidirectional electromagnetic field produced by Gunvolt at any time. Possesses versatile and unique capabilities that defines Gunvolt's fighting style.
      • Offensively, it's main ability is to discharge streams of lightning at any object or enemy previously "tagged" by his gun.
        • These streams are unavoidable as the Bolts that have "tagged" the enemy act as lightning rods the streams are locked on to.
        • The more tags, the more streams of electricity that lock onto the enemy.
      • Defensively, the Flashfield is capable of protecting Gunvolt from many physical projectiles, like streams of missiles. However, it cannot block any energy based attacks, such as lasers.
      • The Flashfield also possesses many utility capabilities. These include hovering, interacting with magnetic fields with its own, powering or disabling technology, providing light.
    • Those within the radius of the Flashfield get shocked, gradually being electrocuted and eventually dying. Capable of burning away ivy and blood. However, the amount of time this takes is inefficient without "tagging" a foe, and simply hurts the opposition minorly, only killing most enemies within 3-10 seconds in gameplay.
      • GV can choose whether or not the Flashfield hurts someone, as demonstrated with Mytyl Kamizono.
    • Gunvolt can hold the Flashfield continuously for approximately 8 seconds in gameplay before running out of Electro Psycho Energy (EP), although this can be modified with equipment to last longer.
    • Gunvolt has been demonstrated to be able to use the Flashfield's capabilities without needing to manifest any electrical field.
  • Prevasion:
    • With the use of special pendants, Prevasion is a defensive ability that turns Gunvolt's entire existence into electricity/electrons[4]. Upon automatic activation on contact with anything that would cause damage, Gunvolt is rendered intangible for several seconds[5], even to attacks that damage down to the soul, all while being able to attack himself.
    • Prevasion uses Electric Psycho Energy (EP), consuming slightly less than a fourth of his total reserves in gameplay. A good way to tell if Prevasion is currently ready to activate is if Gunvolt leaves many afterimages as he moves.
    • Prevasion is no longer active while Gunvolt is using the Flashfield.
    • However, Prevasion is not a perfect ability, as there any many attacks that go through Prevasion due to very specific means, or for some unknown other reason. It has been consistently shown that status effects, such as Petrification, or drowning do work against it.
  • Air Hops and Dashes
    • At the cost of EP, Gunvolt, with the use of equipment, can Air Hop and Dash throughout the air. This is done when he utilizes Rings around his arm which enhance his Septima, similar to glaives. He can also do this with Anthem infinitely.
  • Recharging Electric Psycho Energy
    • Gunvolt can restore his Electric Psycho Energy over time by not using the Flashfield or Prevasion. This method takes mere seconds to completely replenish his EP.
      • If he doesn't have time to wait, Gunvolt can instantly recharge all of his EP, even while Prevasion is active, as long as he isn't Overheated.
  • Overheating
    • Once Gunvolt runs out of EP: "Electro Psycho Energy", he goes into a state called "Overheat", that lasts about a second. In Overheat:
      • He is not capable of utilizing the Flashfield or Prevasion, nor can he Recharge manualy. While it lasts for only a second, this truly hinders Gunvolt and his capabilities, and can be tge compromising factor in a mission.
      • This state can easily be triggered if Gunvolt uses the Flashfield if most of his body is submerged underwater.

Throughout the majority of the game, Gunvolt is in a sealed state thanks to Kirin. His normal existing state is a canine form called the "Azure Beast", sometimes called "Dogvolt". However, with Kirin's training, she can weaken the hold on Gunvolt's seal to allow him to use some of his power in a human state, however, should he stay in this state for too long, dictated by the Fetters Gauge- his power is bound to run amok and Kirin will immediately seal him back up again.

Arc Unleash

  • The act of Kirin "switching out" with Gunvolt, partially unsealing him and his powers, turning him from his "Dogvolt" form to his normal human form.
  • Upon being unleashed by Kirin, Gunvolt releases an intense shockwave of lightning strikes across the whole screen, instantly clearing any foes in the way. It's possible that Gunvolt can do this without much effort, as it is his first move out the gate when he is summoned.
  • However, Gunvolt can only be unsealed for so long before he gets out of control, and Kirin needs to chain him back up again into "Dogvolt".

Gunvolt is no longer limited by the "Electric Psycho Energy" he used to have to consume and is free to use his powers unhindered by his previous limitations. He has also developed a new series of techniques known as Voltaic Arts, combining martial prowess and his Septima to create a fighting style completely unique to him, although inspired by Copen from the events of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2.

Thanks to Kirin, his Septima's overwhelming power is limited so he isn't out of control, at least for a little while.[6]. However, he is still an asset without compare and decimates foes comparable to Kirin with ease.

Infinite Air Hops and Dashes: Gunvolt can now achieve flight just like before, now without any need for special equipment and indefinitely with no cost whatsoever. He can use this in conjunction with all of his other new abilities. His new air dash is now called the Spark Dash.

  • This is only achievable thanks to Kirin's Radiant Fetters giving Gunvolt far more control over his power than before. Of course, Gunvolt still boasts infinite EP to supplement continuous use.

Prevasion

  • Gunvolt's ultimate defense returns. With Gunvolt's newfound power, Prevasion no longer consumes any resource from Gunvolt himself, it is active at all times, even while attacking. Thus, in gameplay, Gunvolt does not have any health bar, as he is practically invulnerable[7]. However, using Prevasion, much like the rest of his abilities, drains the Fetters Gauge, at least when he's not concentrating on preserving it.
    • It now activates even while Flashfield Barrier is active. It also activates during any attack he uses, such as Lock-On Striker, Spark Dash and Voltaic Buster, and Lightning Assault- as well as any action in general, just like before.
    • As well, it does not share the same weaknesses as his previous version of Prevasion, being able to Prevade Jota's Phosphatorium and Wonder Ice Prison, an upgrade to Tenjian's Seven Slashes, as well as Asimov's Greed Snatcher and Voltaic Chains. He is also seen to be capable of Prevading existence erasure from Moebius's Octima, Astral Order- destroying all possible pasts that would lead him to the moment of being caught by his Damnatio Memorie Skill.

Lock-On Flashfield

  • After becoming a Primal Dragon, the offensive property of the Flashfield has changed. Gunvolt sends myriad of spark spheres at his "tagged" enemies in an instant- directing more than five to ten blasts at them each dependant on how many "tags" are applied, overkilling said enemy.
    • Electric Discharge: Of course, he can use the Lock-On Flashfield without the need to tag, however, they will not have anything to lock onto, rendering its attack ability nearly useless.
    • Like with the Flashfield, Gunvolt can slow his descent as he falls with this using magnetism below his feet.

Flashfield Barrier

  • His previous main attack is now reduced to a purely defensive ability. Ever since becoming a Primal Dragon, Gunvolt unconsciously projects a Flashfield Barrier at all times[8], represented by a glowing circle around him. Any enemy or physical projectile that attempts intrude upon these boundaries are instantly zapped or destroyed by the field, just like before- but without any cost whatsoever. However, this defense is disabled when the Lock-On Flashfield or Lightning Assault is used.

Voltaic Art - Spark Dash

  • Gunvolt's new air dash, imitating Copen. Like with air hops, Gunvolt can perform an infinite amount of these. Once coming in contact with an enemy, the following things can happen:
    • Should the foe he comes in contact with is not "tagged", Gunvolt bounces off them, incurring a single "tag" on them.
    • If a foe is already "tagged", Gunvolt splits into lightning, orbs colliding into the foe proportionate to the amount of "tags" on them as Gunvolt warps behind them.
    • Voltaic Buster: Foes that are fully "tagged" and cannot be "tagged" anymore are flown high into the air with Gunvolt, who then sends them crashing down in a massive explosion. It is designed to deal as much damage to one opponent as possible, and once weakened or certain conditions are achieved, can one-shot any boss in the game, including Moebius who is supposedly stronger than Gunvolt.

Voltaic Art - Lightning Assault

  • Counterpart to Kirin's Arc Chain, based on the same power, Gunvolt is able to "teleport" to a "tagged" foe, attacking them a streak of lightning to destroy them and any foe who happens to be in the way. Gunvolt can repeat this process, teleporting to the singular foe repeatedly over and over, as if they were in slow-motion as he continuously assaults them with teleport strikes until their demise. It can also pass-through attacks, as it acts as a teleport much like Kirin's Arc Chain.

Concentration

  • The Fetters Gauge ticks down as a measurement of Kirin's hold of Gunvolt's power before she is forced to seal him up tight once again- else disaster may occur. However, Gunvolt can concentrate to prevent the Fetters Gauge from going down at all, even using Prevasion does not drain the gauge during this.

His normal existing state, usable when Kirin is the main character currently on the field. His form of Gunvolt is obviously much weaker than his normal human form, but still maintains a lot of his control, thus anything this form can do, his human form can also do.

After being sealed by Kirin, Gunvolt's appearance becomes much like an azure canine-like creature, capable of talking and assisting his new master Kirin. While he cannot unleash much of his powers here, he still has a few showings of his abilities, such as transforming into lightning to keep up with Kirin when he cannot follow normally on foot or save her when she falls down pits, warp as lightning with Kirin to teleport long distances such as onto sky high inbound missiles from ground level from the center to the edge of the country, and warp with Kirin for her Arc Chain technique. He also provides her Image Pulses, his memories of past people conjured with his Azure Striker which are then sealed by Kirin for later, permanent use to assist in battle.

Many decades have passed, and Gunvolt's power has long since been out of control and berserk as it grows to levels beyond he had ever achieved before. It has grown so great that he himself have transformed into an actual dragon, and uses the most primitive, yet still powerful of attacks known to an Azure Striker. Despite being contained by 1,000 Glaives, the attempt to seal his power ultimately failed. This state is sometimes called by the fanbase as "Dragonvolt".

Dragonsphere Blast: Gunvolt lowers his horn to fire a beam of electricity that collides with the ground, creating a sphere of lightning that travels along the ground back and forth.

Crashbolt Rain: With a frightening roar, Gunvolt calls down lightning from above to strike opponents in front of him.

Lightning Breath: Charging up in his mouth, Gunvolt fires a spread shot beam to devastate those in the way.

Vanishing World: Should Gunvolt use too much of his power before Kirin can seal him once again from his Anthem State, he will transform back into a Primal Dragon, causing a disaster which causes an automatic Game Over- presumably ending the world.

These are Gunvolt's strongest attacks and are typically used sparingly as they likely significantly take energy out of Gunvolt. In gameplay, three "SP" points and cooldown timers represent this limitation, which regenerate one point per minute, though like EP, SP should be viewed as a general idea of how much each skill takes out of him. However, these rules are bent quite a bit as shown in Gunvolt's boss battle, where he can use Luxcalibur and Split Second multiple times in a row.

  • Astrasphere: Gunvolt surrounds himself with a massive sphere of lightning, with three orbs of electricity that orbit it for a brief period, temporarily nullifying all incoming attacks. However, he is unable to move during this period. It costs 1 "SP" in gameplay.

Lightning that flickers like a star, and purges all that violate its realm! Astrasphere!

~ Astrasphere's Haiku
  • Luxcalibur: Gunvolt summons a massive, powerful energy sword that deals extraordinary damage to the enemy. In most cases, it's the most powerful single hit attack in Gunvolt's arsenal, and can tear apart enemies and their health comparable to even him. He can either thrust it suddenly upon summon, or wield it as a massive claymore to slice his foes. Costs 2 SP in gameplay.

Sacred sword agleam, barbarous and bathed in blue, cleaving right from wrong! Luxcalibur!

~ Luxcalibur's Haiku
  • Voltaic Chains: Often perceived as Gunvolt's most powerful attack at times, he summons and covers the enemy with a multitude of massive chains that deal damage proportional to the number of tags he's placed on his targets, outstripping all his other attacks in terms of sheer power. As seen with Asimov, the chains can bind enemies before shocking them. Costs 3 SP in gameplay.

Bolts of rebellion, a thunderous voice in his heart speaks of one true law! Voltaic Chains!

~ GV's Voltaic Chain's Haiku
  • Crashbolt: Summons a lightning bolt crashing down onto himself, damaging nearby enemies as well as any directly above or below him. This attack costs no SP in gameplay. (GV2 Exclusive)
  • Dragonsphere: Creates an orb of electricity in front of himself that hovers in place for a few seconds, damaging foes on contact. This attack costs no SP in gameplay. (GV2 Exclusive)
  • Grand Strizer: This powerful skill is implied to be a stronger version of Luxcalibur by default canonically. Costs 3 SP in gameplay. (GV2 Exclusive)
    • In gameplay, its power depends on how many Kudos (Gameplay Mechanic: Damage he has done without getting hit, Prevading, or using SP costing offensive skills, the latter being the only criteria on Gutless Mode) Gunvolt has built up. With enough Kudos, Gunvolt can one-shot characters who are otherwise comparable, if not superior, to himself.

Let praise be unleashed, as blades of lightning cleave sky, yielding great glory! Grand Strizer!

~ Grand Strizer's Haiku

Much like his Offensive Skills, Support Skills also run on "SP" to represent how Gunvolt cannot repeatedly use these advanced techniques as much as his basic capabilities. Much like before, there is no way for sure to know how much each skill takes out of him, as he is shown using Split Second multiple times in a row bypassing the SP rule.

  • Galvanic Patch: Gunvolt charges himself with electricity (stimulating his cells) to rapidly heal his wounds, by about a 1/4th of his health capacity instantly. Costs 1 SP in gameplay.
  • Septimal Burst: Greatly improves his EP recovery rate for 30 seconds. Costs 1 SP
  • Split Second: Gunvolt instantly refills his EP, allowing him to use Flashfield and Prevasion. Any status effect such as Overheat or Chaff, or other factors restricting such will be cleared. Costs 1 SP in gameplay.
    • In his boss fight, he can utilize Split Second indefinitely if he is Overheated, though assuming that he can do it infinitely is a stretch, it's likely that it would cost less than "1 SP" outside of gameplay.
  • Alchemical Field: In gameplay, this doubles experience, money, and amount of health from health pickups gained for 30 seconds, though, it's use outside of gameplay is currently unknown. Costs 1 SP in gameplay.
  • Galvanic Renewal: Restores all of Gunvolt's health instantly, bringing him back to full capacity. Costs 2 SP in gameplay.
  • Septimal Shield: Reduces all damage dealt to Gunvolt by slightly more than half for 30 seconds. Costs 1 SP in gameplay.
  • Infinite Surge: Allows Gunvolt to freely use the Flashfield, Prevasion, Air Hops, Air Dashes, etc., without consuming any EP for 30 seconds. Costs 2 SP in gameplay.
  • Septimal Surge: Greatly enhances his damage output (doubling it) for 30 seconds. Costs 1 SP in gameplay.
    • Coupled with Luxcalibur, Gunvolt can one-shot comparable opponents such as Stratos

Anthem: Gunvolt has a second soul by the name of Joule who lived in his body, she has the unique Septima of the Muse, who can amplify Gunvolt's capabilities by singing. If Gunvolt dies (not a necessary requirement), Anthem will bring him back to life with new capabilities. When Anthem is active, Gunvolt can use his amped up electromagnetic powers to jump in the air and dash laterally in the air an infinite amount of times. His attacks are much more powerful, and he has infinite EP, allowing for infinite Prevasion (the latter with no need for a pendant anymore). This state lasts until Gunvolt either dies or is victorious in battle. Anthem can bring Gunvolt back from just about anything, such as Tenjian's Seven Slashes which can freeze and shatter Gunvolt's Soul, Time, and Space to destroy him entirely.

  • "Self-Anthem": During his battle with Reverie Zonda after Joule's soul is removed from him, he was told that Joule's song was within him and "drew out" his own "Anthem". In reality, like all Adepts, heightened emotions increases their Septimal powers. This allowed him to nullify Zonda's strongest attack, Paradise Lost, and likely is what let him fight on par with Copen when he was powered by Mytyl's Anthem. However, he does not reap any benefits of a genuine Anthem.
  • Astrasphere Mandala: When his Astrasphere wears off, the three orbs spiral outwards. Unlike before, Gunvolt can use this move repeatedly without the need to wait for any SP to restore.
  • Luxcalibur Launcher: After the blade is thrust out, the sword flies forward as a giant projectile. Unlike before, Gunvolt can use this move repeatedly without the need to wait for any SP to restore.
  • Voltaic Chains Thunder: The chains are aligned vertically on the screen, zapping everything in it's path, after they disperse, Crashbolts will rain down on wherever the chains didn't cover. Unlike before, Gunvolt can use this move repeatedly without the need to wait for any SP to restore.
  • Septimal Surge: Functionally the same as normal, but like his other moves, does not cost any SP while still doubling his damage output. Most importantly, it lasts until the battle is over, much like Anthem itself.
    • This changes GV's aura from blue and pink to a turquoise-yellow coloring

Let this joyous song, ring forth as a dragon's roar, and grant the spark's gift! Septimal Surge!

~ Septimal Surge's Haiku

Berserk: With Joule long gone, Gunvolt conjures his "own Muse" as a method to remember his fallen ally, their song allowing him to unleash his actual full power- should Kirin fall in battle, ignoring the Fetters Gauge and its seal limiting him. Upon awakening he releases an intense damaging shockwave with a gutteral yell. Should he stay in this state for too long, without Kirin to seal him, a disaster on a global scale will occur. In this state, Gunvolt gains an insanely large buff to his pre-established capabilities, aside from Prevasion, which is the same as before but with no draining of the Fetters Gauge. It is also likely he can achieve all of the previous abilities he had from Anthem. This mode is simply called "Berserk Gunvolt" or "Primal Dragonized Gunvolt".

  • Flight: Instead of an infinite amount of air hops and air dashes, Gunvolt sports complete and fully controlled flight in all directions without limit.
  • Prevasion: As per usual, his automatically activating Prevasion protects him from all harm at all times without any thought, these two combined make Gunvolt extremely difficult to deal damage to from up close and afar. However, utilizing Prevasion, as with all of Gunvolt's powers in this state, brings him closer and closer to utilizing Vanishing World.
  • Flashfield Barrier: Even his relatively insignificant automatic and passive Flashfield Barrier deals incredible damage, killing all who are near him quickly and blocking all physical projectiles that attempt to harm Gunvolt.
  • Flash Dart: In place of Gunvolt's firearm, Gunvolt simply unleashes a pulse that "tags" all in sight. All opponents are tagged to the maximum they can be, making them suspectable to Gunvolt's new "Flashfield" in the form of Astrasphere, or his Lightning Assault Voltaic Art.
  • Lightning Assault: Lightning Assault previously had a single lightning strike acting as a projectile against the intended target and all foes who happen to be in the way. Now, Gunvolt unleashes two violent thunderbolts onto one enemy, destroying surrounding foes.
  • Voltaic Buster: Previously, Voltaic Buster drained a ton of Fetters gauge, and sometimes required to weaken the enemy before using it on them. Now, one Flash Dart makes any foe suspectable to this instantly killing attack.
  • Astrapshere: In place of his Lock-On Flashfield / Electric Discharge, Gunvolt unleashes an Astrasphere that replaces the previous Flashfield iterations, increasing the power and number of electrical projectiles that chase the target- and tearing all enemies up to shreds with the field itself. It is also able to block almost any projectile in the game, even SP Skills such as Rexcalibur.
  • Luxcalibur: His Spark Dash has improved so that every time he passes through an opponent, a Luxcalibur stabs into their bodies.
  • Voltaic Chains: Gunvolt's SP Skill at default becomes a blue version of Voltaic Chains, being more devastating than ever before. In this state, Gunvolt is able to spam this move indefinitely, back to back until he utilizes Vanishing World.
Vanishing World: Should Gunvolt use too much of his power before Kirin can seal him once again from his Anthem State, he will transform back into a Primal Dragon, causing a disaster which causes an automatic Game Over- presumably ending the world.

As the first Primal Dragon, Gunvolt has a special connection with the true ruler of all Primal Dragons, who telepathically communicates with him. After absorbing Gunvolt, rather possessing the Azure Striker, Moebius went berserk with this power as "Moebius Gunvolt". However, thanks to the help of Kirin, Gunvolt final managed to keep Moebius under control and unmask the baby Primal Dragon's true motives, to tell Gunvolt that the future where he destroys the world is already upon the world. With this, Gunvolt gains full control over Moebius's Octima: Astral Order, which can view and select from an innumerable amount of futures to invoke upon the world. This essentially gives Gunvolt the ability to manipulate probability and the future itself. Along with that, a great boost in power beyond anything he has experienced before, surpassing even his Primal Dragon self. In the end, the inescapable fate of "the present" Gunvolt destroying the world was deemed to be unavoidable, and thus Gunvolt utilized his powers to fix the world, turning himself into a infant, with a new life.

Prevasion: As per usual, Gunvolt is capable of passively letting all attacks slip through him without limit with Prevasion, even while attacking. Those without instantaneous sealing ability or powers of the Azure Striker such as the Arc Chain, Divine Ruin Arc, and Image Pulses likely are not able to even touch or damage Gunvolt. Gunvolt like before has no limit to how many times he can Prevade, and is likely invulnerable at all times.

Teleportation: Using the same principals of Lightning Assault and Arc Chain, Gunvolt is able to teleport at rapid speeds as his main form of movement.

Flash Dart: One of Dragonized Gunvolt's primary moves, sends a pulse that tags all foes fully, following up with a Lock-On Flashfield. Of course, this does not look as fast as Anthem's version of the move, which travels the screen instantly, however, this is so that the player can effectively dodge the attack- and there is no reason for it to be any slower than before.

Astrasphere Mandala: One of Gunvolt's signature SP Skills, Astrasphere Mandala sends rotating lightning spheres into the distance.

Luxcalibur Cleave: One of Gunvolt's signature SP Skills, he wields Luxcalbiur like a massive claymore, sending blade beams of electricity to slash opponents.

Quinary Grand Strizer: One of Gunvolt's signature SP Skills, upgraded and quintupled in number to launch like javelins at the foe.

Giga-Crashbolt: Gunvolt summons a massive thunderbolt from above to cover a wide area.

Thunder Cross: Gunvolt creates thunder crosses from the ground to attack, before following up with an Arc Unleash attack.

Galvanic Renewal: Should Gunvolt or Moebius take too much damage, Gunvolt's powers can be used to heal from near death without consequence.

Astral Order: Once fully awakened from its slumber, Moebius's Astral Order is activated in full effect as an Offensive Skill- creating a space in the area that manipulates fate itself to kill the opposition. This lasts indefinitely until Gunvolt is defeated.

From the sea of countless stars, draw forth the chosen truth toward phantasmal Arcadia, ASTRAL ORDER

~ Astral Order's Haiku

Octis Veto: Gunvolt's most powerful attack to date. Moebius surrounds the enemy in Voltaic Chains, leaving them little room maneuver before covering that entire area in blinding bolts of lightning. Those without the ability of flight of teleportation have little hope of dodging this attack once trapped inside.

Weaknesses[]

  • The Overheat Status prevents Gunvolt from using his main abilities
  • Gunvolt only has three SP points, limiting his freedom regarding how often he can use Skills
    • The recharge time for each SP point might make the difference between life and death
  • Even though Flashfield protects against physical projectiles, if said projectile is powerful or big enough, it'll still hit Gunvolt, and it also generally dosn't block bullets
  • Even though Anthem grants unlimited EP and Prevasion, Gunvolt is NOT completely invincible, as he is vulnerable while his Flashfield is active
  • Can still be damaged by electricity by specifically other Azure Thunderclap wielders
  • Trying to use the Flashfield underwater isn't a good idea, as it drains his EP completely
    • In addition, should Gunvolt's Flashfield be active while he gets hit by a water-based attack, his EP will overheat and a certain type of electrolyte will bypass Prevasion and put him into Overheat regardless if Flashfield is on or not.
  • Without Lens, Gunvolt has admitted to have poor vision
  • Anthem can't be used on him again if it's already been used in a given fight
  • Somewhat oblivious when it comes to women

Feats and Strengths[]

  • Before leaving QUILL, he was an SS-Rank member, the highest possible rank in the organization.
  • Exceeded all of Asimov's expectations since leaving QUILL
  • Can generate an EMP wave powerful enough to cause a massive blackout in a large city.
  • Survived the extremely high temperatures of the Biochem Plant, Viper's lair for a notably long time, a normal human would have probably get exhausted, dehydrated, and die within minutes.
  • Slowed the decent an entire airship using his lightning and Joule's power.
  • Gunvolt is capable of taking hits that kill a normal person multiple times and continue fighting
  • If Gunvolt is turned to stone, he can break free with relative effort
  • Can hold his breath indefinitely as of Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, although this may have been game mechanics
  • Has successfully broken into heavily guarded areas by himself
  • Has defeated countless Sumeragi and Eden troops (and a handful of tanks) by himself
  • Took down the Eden organization.
  • Killed Viper "The Burning Wrath", a Sumeragi Adept who can control fire and compresses thermal energy into explosive projectiles and attacks.
    • During Viper's fight with another Adept, Jota noted that they were moving at light speed.
  • Killed Elise "The Eternal Envy", a Sumeragi Adept who could resurrect the dead and give her alternate personalities physical forms, essentially making Gunvolt's fight against her a 1v2 and even a 1v3 in one instance
  • Killed Stratos "The Gluttonous Fly", a Sumeragi Adept who could consume everything and summon insects to attack his foes with
  • Killed Merak "The Slothful Conjurer" an intelligent Sumeragi Adept who could manipulate space to create wormholes.
  • Killed Jota "The Prideful Sillouette", a Sumeragi Adept who could control light, (M?)FTL laser beams, and move at light speed.
  • Killed Carrera "The Magentic Avarice", a Sumeragi Adept who could control magnetism
    • Carrera's magnetic fields can temporarily block the use in septimal power
  • Defeated Copen "The Adept Slayer", a 14-year old non-Adept boy whose technology could copy the abilities of defeated Adepts.
  • Killed Nova Tsukuyomi "The Mighty", a high-ranking Sumeragi Adept who had Psychokinesis and with Joule's septima had God-like power
    • Gunvolt killed Nova without using Prevasion. In fact, he was wearing a normal, handmade necklace that Joule gave him.
  • Killed Asimov, a QUILL agent who had the same Septima as Gunvolt, Azure Thunderclap, his Flashfield and Voltaic Chains were way stronger than Gunvolt's, along with being able to easily cause the Chaff status, due to his specialized bullets.
    • With the exception of Nova and Asimov, Gunvolt killed everyone on this list twice
      • In the case of Elise, Gunvolt killed her five times if you count the physical manifestations of her personalities
    • Even though he didn't kill Copen, he still defeated him twice
  • Killed Gibril "The Full Metal Jacket", an Adept part of Eden's Seven with the Metallon Septima, which allowed her to control metal, including the iron in the blood.
    • Gibril notably enhanced the shots from a shotgun to move at light speed
  • Killed Milas "The Aquadynamic Merman", an Adept part of Eden's Seven with the Ichor Septima, which allowed him to control all kinds of liquid matter (though due to his personality, he could only control water)
  • Killed Teseo "The Serial Experiment", an Adept part of Eden's Seven with the Hack the World Septima, which allowed him to convert physical material into data and vice versa
  • Defeated Copen a third time, this time, Copen was making use of his new White Tiger equipment
  • Killed Tenjian "The Frozen Blade" the leader of Eden's Seven and an Adept with the Permafrost ability, which allowed him to control ice
    • Gunvolt has been shown to survive Tenjian's ice blades without using Prevasion, which is impressive considering that the ice blades are colder than absolute zero. Should a normal person come into contact with these blades, their very molecular structure would freeze.
  • Killed Ghauri "The Prism Master", an Adept part of Eden's Seven with the Prism Cataclysm Septima, which allowed him to create crystals at will
  • Killed Desna "The Starstruck Beauty" an Adept part of Eden's Seven with the Splitting Ends Septima, which allowed her to control a limitless supply of her hair
  • Killed Asroc "The Pygmalion Furnace" an Adept part of Eden's Seven with the Puppetmaster Septima, which allowed him to control machines, even those beyond repair, as well as using a special robot called the Galette Krone
  • Killed Zonda "The Lustful Mirage", the leader of Eden and an Adept who achived God-like power with the ability to control reality itself
  • Defeated Copen a 4th time, and this time, Copen had the power of Anthem. Like in the first game, Gunvolt spared Copen's life
    • With the exceptions of Ghauri, Desna, and Asroc, Gunvolt killed/defeated everyone on this list twice
    • He had to fight Both Zonda battles and Copen with Anthem back to back
      • The first time he killed Zonda, it was simply a copy of her that did not have the God-like power.
  • Should be comparable to Blade, another Azure Striker, who defeated Copen in all three of their encounters, implying Gunvolt had been holding back in every encounter with him. It should be noted that Copen at that time was able to fight Sumeragi's AI Demerzel, which was able to create holographs of adepts that were described as "Having Mass" by Lola, possibly meaning mass energy conversion.
  • In Mighty Gunvolt Burst
    • He defeated all of the Mighty Numbers
    • He defeated Beck, Mighty No. 9 (without the Dashing ability however)
    • He defeated Teseo again, who had a giant mech (with a little help from Beck)
    • He did all the above with only 4 Septimal Powers (Astrasphere, Luxcailber, Voltiac Chains, and Septimal Shield) and his Dartleader gun as his main weapon (he was trapped in a VR world which prevented his powers, although Joule still helped out)
    • Afterwards, when he regained his Septima, he prevented Teseo from fully resetting the world

Trivia[]

  • Gunvolt's voice is Kaito Ishikawa, known for his voices of Tobio Kageyama (Haikyuu!), Nero (Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition), Shunshin You (Diamond no Ace), Genos (One-Punch Man) etc.
  • Gunvolt is the 3rd wielder of the Azure Thunderclap septima, after Asimov and the first adept ever.
  • In Azure Striker Gunvolt 2, Gunvolt was referred as an "Azure Dragon" which is based of the legendary creature from Japanese culture... the Azure Dragon (which manipulates water, not electricity), alongside the "White Tiger". In most Eastern cultures, a dragon is based more on patience and wisdom, which fits with Gunvolt's cool-headed personality and less aggressive approach using his gun for tagging to set up for his Flashfield.
  • Gunvolt's hair is extremely conductive and is inserted into his Bolts to conduct his electricity this is actually how Tagging really works.
  • Some Bolt names are based of mythical creatures from various religions
    • Cerberus is based off of Hades 3 Headed hound. Which is why it allows up to 3 tags in ASG 1
      • In Japan, it was named after King Ghidorah of the Godzilla series
    • Naga is based off of Phaya Naga: a mythical serpent-like creature that live in the Mekong river
    • Orochi is an alternative spelling for a supernatural serpent, this particular serpent refers to the famed 8-headed Yamata no Orochi, which is why Orochi fires 8 shots and has 8 tags
    • Dullahan is based off of headless riders on black horses named... Dullahans
    • Vasuki is a nagaraja, one of the King serpents of Hindu and Buddhist mythology and is a king of the nagas
  • According to GV's reports on Copen about their first battle, Gunvolt defeated Viper as one of the first 3 Sumeragi Seven before fighting Copen, and possibly Elise. He then fought Carrera afterward
  • Gunvolt's catchphrase/battle cry is "Oversurge! Azure Striker!! Obliterates my enemies!" (he can change "Obliterate my enemies!" to something related to his enemy, like "send him to a watery grave")
  • Gunvolt has a surprisingly high amount of knowledge about mythology and theoretical thought experiments, casually thinking about both during times of stress.
