Description[]

Battle of the Heroic Time Travelers. Pokémon vs Sonic! Which Time Travelling Hero will make it to the top? Will it be the Grovyle of the Future, or will the Telekinetic Hedgehog take the victory?

Introduction[]

Wiz: Time travel. Love it or hate it, it gives us not only the possibility of a interesting ideas, but also interesting characters.

Boomstick: And these two are not only one of the best time travelers, but are pretty dang good heroes while they're at it!

Wiz: Grovyle, the Time-Traveling Vigilante of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.

Boomstick: And Silver, the Telekinetic Hedgehog from the future. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skill, to see who would win, a Death Battle!

Grovyle[]

(Cue: Pokemon- Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky- In The Future- Music)

Wiz: No lights, no color, no hope. Thanks to the twisted plans of Darkrai, this was the fate of the future. Time became broken, along side the tower that held it together, something primal inside Dialga transformed them into a feral version of themselves, and the world froze in paralysis-type state.

Boomstick: That's when two Grass Types and a human decided that the future sucked, said "Screw that noise!", and made a plan to get back to the past to prevent this from happening.

Wiz: Enter: Grovyle. After they found out about the Time Gears and how they use them to prevent Temporal Tower, and time by proxy, from collapsing, both Grovyle and his human partner, with the aid of Celebi, made it to the past. Unfortunately for the duo, they were soon separated from each other, with only Grovyle remaining to complete the mission.

Boomstick: And with moves like his signature move Leaf Blade and Dig, which I'm pretty sure he got from a TM lying on the ground, it's safe to say he can get the job done.

Wiz: Alongside those moves, he also has the life stealing Absorb, Quick Attack, an attack that gives Grovyle such speed that he always goes first when preforming it, and Energy Ball, where he channels the power of nature itself into a ball and fires it at his foes.

Boomstick: That's not all either, cause he also has the mighty Slam, just guess what it does, and Bullet Seed, a move where just literally hock seed loogies at you multiple times. Which isn't that impressive, by the way! Anyone can do that, you know! Hell, I can do it right now! Watch:

(We cut to Boomstick pulling out a Watermelon slice and bites into it before facing towards Wiz.)

Wiz: WAIT, DONT-

(Boomstick then starts spitting out multiple seeds at Wiz at blinding speeds.)

Wiz: ACK! CUT IT OUT, BOOMSTICK!

Boomstick: See? Anyone can do that. Put that grass gecko in a seed spitting competition with me, and I'll show him why I became the 3rd Best Seed Spitter at the Country Fair!

Wiz (Now covered in seeds, watermelon juice, and Boomstick's spit): Ugghh... I need a bath...

Boomstick: Aw, don't worry Wiz! It's just a little watermelon juice and some Grade A Boomstick spit, it'll come out with ease!

(Cue: Pokemon- Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky- Temporal Spire- Music)

Wiz: …Moving on, Grovyle should be comparable to Pokémon like Ryhorn and Tyranitar, both of whom are capable of destroying mountains with complete ease, and much like a majority of Pokémon, he's capable of reacting to moves like Solar Beam, an attack that's made out of pure light. And if somehow he gets weakened enough, his ability Overgrown empowers his grass moves.

Boomstick: And that's a pretty big if thanks to his IQ Skills giving him the ability to remove any status effect on him at a much faster rate than most, avoid traps, be better at dodging, and much more. With all these powers combined, taking the Time Gears should be a breeze for him, right? Well...

Wiz: Before either Grovyle or his partner could make it to the past, Darkrai sprung a sneak attack in the Passage of Time, causing the two to be separated. Alone, Grovyle continued his quest, hoping his partner was out there somewhere searching for the Gears as he was.

Boomstick: During this time, Grovyle did battle with the Gears' guardians, with them being none other then the Lake Guardians- Wait, what!?

Wiz: And now is where we tell you all that Grovyle is far stronger than your average Mon. You see, the Pokémon that make up the Lake Guardians: the all-knowing Uxie, the strong willed Azelf, and the heartful Mesprit, are all a major part of a collective concept that helps make up the entire multiverse called "The Spirit". This concept is what makes sure that all things, both human, Pokémon, and beyond, not only function, but give them the freedom to do, well, anything they want. Not only that, but the trio should be above the likes of Necrozma, a Pokémon who's capable of both absorbing all the light from Ultra Space, effectively a multiversal crossroad, and lighting up the entire thing as well.

Boomstick: And Grovyle is capable of fighting all three of them. You'd think that he'd be unstoppable, seeing as he's fought literal gods, right? Unfortunately for him, Dusknoir, the one person who could stop him, did exactly that. Now back in the future, alongside some small team called Team Poképals, dumbest team name ever by the way, for some reason, escaped their execution thanks to a lovely little Luminous Orb and made their way back to the Passage of Time, only for Dusknoir and his posse to cockblock them just right before they made it. Oh hey, Dialga's there too! And with a neat redesign to boot.

Wiz: Except that wasn't Dialga, that was Primal Dialga. In this form, there was no reason or thought, just instinct and power. So much power that Grovyle couldn't think of a way where any of them could survive. And remember what I said about The Spirit? Well, Dialga's also a part of it too.

Boomstick: So what, is Dialga a stronger part of The Spirit?

Wiz: Regular Dialga? No. In fact, both the Creation Trio and Lake Guardians are considered all equals. But Primal Dialga, now that's another story. A story that almost crushed Grovyle's spirit, if it wasn't for the knowledge that his partner was still out there, completing their mission.

(Cue: Pokemon- Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky- Dialgas Fight To Finish- Music)

Boomstick: That is until Dusknoir drops the bombshell of the leader of the worst team name ever: You, was none other than his partner. THAT'S when his spirit got crushed. And also his body if it wasn't for Celebi saving all three of their asses. So after one time travel back to the past, name clearing session, and several day hunt for not only the Time Gear, but also the knowledge on how to even GET to Temporal Tower to prevent it from collapsing, both he and his partners were ready.

Wiz: Unfortunately for Grovyle, Dusknoir came back once more. And to make sure he wouldn't get in their way anymore, Grovyle personally took him back to the future. Thus, was the end of Grovyle's tale...

Boomstick: That is unless you got Explorers of Sky!

Wiz: In one of Explorers of Sky's Special Episodes, Grovyle teams up with Dusknoir, alongside Celebi, to stop Primal Dialga once and for all and succeed in it too. And thanks to Arceus' intervention, both Grovyle, his friends, and the entire future itself were saved from oblivion, no longer needing to worry about the past and now focused on the future.

Boomstick: And THAT'S the end of Grovyle's tale, and a damn good ending it is too!

Wiz: But for all of Grovyle's positives, he's faaaar from perfect.

Boomstick: Yeah, like he's a massive dumbass that almost got his soul destroyed.

Wiz: Well, that's not entirely true. It's more so that thanks to his innocent nature, making him too trusting of others. For example, remember when we said he teamed up with Dusknoir? Well, that was originally another plan made by Dusknoir, that would've ended in his death, before he had a change of heart. Not only that, but moves like Dig are useless to airborne foes and thanks to his Grass typing, attacks that involve fire, ice, and poison are super effective against him.

Boomstick: But despite all of that, when Grovyle has a goal, that grass gecko just doesn't know when to give up. Even if he has to fight the literal concept of time, nothing's standing in his way.

Grovyle: "The important thing is not how long you live... It's what you accomplish with your life."

Silver[]

(Cue: Dreams of an Absolution (Theme of Silver) - Sonic the Hedgehog)

Wiz: 200 years in the future, Iblis: the immortal Flames of Disaster, ravaged the world. No where on Earth was safe from it or it's wrath. With heroes like Sonic and Shadow out of the picture, all that was left to save what remained of this ruined world were Blaze the Cat and her partner: Silver the Hedgehog.

Boomstick: Ahhh, Silver. The Donnie to Sonic and Shadow's Leo and Raph.

Wiz: Huh, I'd thought you were gonna have Sonic be the Mikey of the trio.

Boomstick: He can be both.

Wiz: …Eh, fair. After countless failed attempts to defeat Iblis for good, all hope seemed lost for the white hedgehog.

Boomstick: That is until a totally trustworthy no mouthed hedgehog called Mephiles told him how he could save the future, and all he had to do was to kill the Iblis Trigger: Sonic. And he bought it hook, line, and sinker. …His name is literally another name for the devil, Silver.

Wiz: His easily trusting nature aside, Silver's actually quite the capable fighter, likely thanks to his living situation. He's strong enough to fight the likes of Sonic and Shadow, the former of whom is capable of fighting the God of Destruction: Chaos, who's capable of using the power of the Chaos Emeralds.

Boomstick: These shiny rocks are capable of a lot of things: Stopping time, teleporting, and even capable of moving continents back to Earth, just to name a few. And Sonic's capable of beating someone who had MULTIPLE of them.

Wiz: Not only that, but Sonic, and other characters in the series, is capable of dodging lasers, sometimes near pointblank. Makes his claims of lightspeed being practically nothing to him sound legitimate. And going back to the Emeralds, yeah, Silver can use them, and a lot better than other Chaos Emerald users, like Tails and Knuckles, seeing as he figured out how to use the time bending power of Chaos Control after seeing it once.

Boomstick: Take that, Sonic!

Wiz: But what's more impressive is that Silver is the only known character in the entire series who's capable of using psychokinetic powers.

Boomstick: You mean like M. Bison?

Wiz: No, that's Psycho Power, which involves the power of the soul. Psychokinetic powers involves the power of the mind. And while yes, he does use them for moving object and throwing them at his foes for the most part, he's capable of using them for much more than that. He can use them to fly around, hold foes in place, stun them, and by briefly controlling their minds, he can even mess with others' sense of direction. Though we don't know if he's capable of more in that department.

Boomstick: With all these powers, Silver was able to make quick work of the "Iblis Trigger", twice in fact. Unfortunately, Sonic's ass got saved by both Amy and Shadow, with the latter stopping him in a way that's simply just... perfect:

(It shows a clip of Shadow stopping time with Chaos Control before Silver could hit him, then proceeding to roundhouse kick the latter as Chaos Control stops.)

Boomstick: I'm telling you Wiz, I could watch this clip for hours and it wouldn't get old.

Wiz: Now to be fair, Silver DID fight Shadow to the point where it exhausted them both, meaning that Shadow likely did it to prevent exhausting himself even further, seeing as he already had job to do.

Boomstick: C'mon Wiz, we both now he just wanted to style on him. Hell, he even tried to double-dip, or kick in this case, before the both of them accidentally found a way to time travel. Well that's convenient.

(Cue: Crisis City (Modern) - Sonic Generations)

Wiz: After trusting Shadow to find the truth, he realized something: Not only was Sonic NOT Iblis Trigger, but Mephiles wasn't as he seemed.

Boomstick: You mean besides being obviously evil?

Wiz: Yes. For you see, both Iblis and Mephiles were two halves of a greater whole. This greater whole being the Sun God: Solaris. And after finding a way to seal Iblis for good, as well as helping Sonic save Elise from dying to prevent Iblis from escaping in the present, he knew actually what to do.

Boomstick: Unfortunately for Silver, Iblis is very picky when it comes down to who seals him away inside of them, and rejected him. That's when Blaze stepped in to be the one who seals Iblis away for good before transporting herself far, far away from their future so that Iblis can't harm it anymore. Damnit, why are there onions in here...

Wiz: But when Solaris became whole once more and threatened the multiverse, Silver, along side Sonic and Shadow, stepped up against the dimension eater as the one, the only: Super Silver.

Boomstick: As your standard Super Form, you get your typical things: Greatly enhanced strength, speed, durability, especially durability, immunity to diseases that can transform you into a mindless zombie robot and getting instantly killed by those bullshit death spheres. God, I hate those things...

Wiz: However, much like his fellow hedgehogs, Sonic and Shadow, he's capable of preforming a special technique of his very own: The Shield of Light. With this move, Super Silver creates a forcefield of light that can not only catch anything that's thrown at him for then throw back at, but also trap others in it.

Boomstick: And speaking of those two, Super Silver shouldn't be all that behind their Super Forms either. So like the time that Super Sonic flew to Exception from Earth in like, 7 seconds? He should scale to that.

Wiz: Assuming that Exception is located in the Boötes Void, Super Sonic had have gone over 3 quadrillion times the speed of light to make it there. And not only that, but he also had fight the Egg Salamander, which was empowered by the Sol Emeralds. The same ones that, along side the Chaos Emeralds, almost destroyed both Sonic's and Blaze's universes.

Boomstick: With that power, and the aid of Super Sonic and Shadow, Super Silver kicked Solaris' physical and, after revealing his consciousness when they destroyed Solaris' body, mental asses. Sadly however, to make sure that time eater over there wouldn't destroy everything, he had to be destroy before any of the events of 06 happened, meaning that the entire game was all pointless. Oh yeah, also Silver got erased from history due to Iblis not existing anymore.

(Cue: Sonic Rivals - "Forest Falls Zone: Act 1")

Wiz: Which would've been his ultimate fate, had it not been for the Rivals series. And while Silver isn't exactly the same one from 06, he still has all his strength and powers, meaning he isn't any weaker than his original counterpart. Especially since he fought against Ifrit, an interdimensional flame demon who destroyed Silver's world in the future and may or may not be the new timeline's version of Iblis.

Boomstick: And oh boy, is this one way better than the original. While Iblis could destroy the world, Ifrit could that AND could control others minds and bind their souls. And Silver kicked it's ass with no real issue, saving his future.

Wiz: Not only that, but Silver's capable of dodging meteors on a space ship that was going so fast that the stars around looked nothing more than stretch lines quickly flying past it. For Silver to react to that type of speed, his reaction time has to be over 500 million times the speed of light.

Boomstick: However, Silver ain't perfect. For one, he's really too trusting of others, even if they're basically the devil himself-

Wiz: Will you get over that already!?

Boomstick: NEVER!

Wiz: Uugghhh... Moving on, Silver's psychic powers does have a limit before needing to be recharged, both in base and in Super Silver.

Boomstick: Which is unfortunate for him seeing as he relies on them a lot. And going back to Super Silver, that also has a time limit. Super Forms need rings to function, and once they run out, so does his golden glow.

Wiz: But regardless of his faults, there won't be anything stopping Silver from saving his future if it's ever in danger. Be it mad doctors, demons of fire, or even time destroying gods.

Silver: "I will never give up! Let's go!"

Interlude[]

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set. We've gathered and ran the data through all possibilities, so let's end this debate once and for all.

Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!

Death Battle[]

Pre-Fight[]

Location: Treeshroud Forest

(Cue: Treeshroud Forest | Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky OST)

A purple portal is seen in the forest as a white-haired hedgehog leaps out of it. This hedgehog's name is Silver the Hedgehog, and he's here to save his future. In his time, the world was ravaged by the Flames of Disaster: Iblis, an unkillable monster of flames and lava. All hope seemed lost for him until a mysterious "hedgehog" named Mephiles told him a way that could prevent Iblis' wrath from destroying the world. He told the young boy about the Iblis Trigger, the event that caused Iblis' awakening, and that it was none other than Sonic the Hedgehog who was the cause of it. But before Mephiles could send Silver back in time to stop him, he also warned Silver that Sonic had allies who also wished for not only this future, but a future far worse than the one they currently have. And with that, he sent him to the past.

Silver looked around his environment. No fire, no despair, and full of life. "So beautiful..." Silver said to himself, mesmerized by the sights surrounding him. "Is this what the world looked like before Iblis?" He then closes his eyes, taking in all the noise. The chirping of birds, the rustling of grass, the sound of droplets hitting the ground from leaves. He then opens his eyes. "...If this is what that blue hedgehog and his allies wishes to destroy, then I refuse to fail!" But before he could find him, he had to figure out how to leave this wonderful forest.

(Music cuts out.)

Suddenly, Silver feels a loud rumble as he sees a bunch of weird creatures running towards him. Some looked humanoid, some looked like multi-tailed foxs, some looked like devil hounds, some looked like unopened flowers, and some looked like giant bees. Silver got into a stance as a light blue energy glowed around him, he was prepared for a massive fight. But to his surprised, they all ran past him. Not only that, but he could hear some of them saying stuff like 'MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!', 'RUN!', and 'IT'S COMING!'. All of this confused Silver until he saw it. What he saw looked to be sparking electricity going over the forest, and coming straight towards him. Out of instinct, he putted up his arms defensively and closed his eyes as he braced for impact... Yet there was none.

After realizing that, he open his eyes, and the sight he saw shocked him to his very core.

(Cue: 061 - Time Gear - (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon - Explorers of Sky))

The once vibrant forest, full of life and color, now looked... dark. Everywhere he looked, all he could see was the once lively greenery looking as if all of it's life and color was drained from it. And then, what really caught his attention. Silver saw a droplet of water coming off of a leaf, but to his shock, it was in the air, almost as if time itself stopped, or to what Silver would better say, died.

"W-what happened...?" Silver stuttered, the shock of what he's seeing still affecting him. H-how did this-" He then remembered what Mephiles said. This must've been what Mephiles meant by a worse future than the one he currently has. That's when Silver spotted someone from afar. He sneaked over to where the figure was and found what looked to be a green bipedal gecko, with leaves on his arms and head, holding onto something. It looked like some sort of blue gear. Silver quickly pieced two and two together. Whatever that gear was, it had something to do with what just happened. And this gecko guy was definitely involved with this.

"What did you do!?" Silver yelled at him. Shocked that someone else besides him was still here, the gecko turned around to see Silver. This wasn't any ordinary green bipedal gecko, by the way. This was Grovyle, a Pokémon from future different from Silver's. In his future, the world went through a paralysis-type state, causing time to stop forever and making Dialga go berserk. He knew that with the Time Gears from the past, he could change his future. Sure, time would stop in the areas that the Gears were, but not only was that a small price to pay to save the world from this fate, but it would also be reverted to what it was when he prevents his future from happening. However, he knew that there were those wanting to get in his way, be it either from not knowing what his plans were or to prevent him from changing the future for the better. And Grovyle couldn't tell which one this hedgehog was.

(Cue: Sonic Rivals 2 ‒ "Confrontation")

"Answer me you!" Silver yelled out again. "What did you do!?" Grovyle then spoke, "I did what I had to do. You wouldn't understand." He then tries to run off, but before he could, Silver caught him with his psychic powers, holding him in place. "What the!?" Grovyle say in shock. "If you're trying to ruin the future, then I can't let that happen!" He then throws Grovyle into a tree, causing him to drop the Time Gear. Now Grovyle understood what was going on here. The only other people Grovyle knew who could've been from the future were either people wanting to save the future and those who wanted to prevent the future from being saved. And seeing as this... THING, is attacking him, then that all but confirms that this guy's nothing more than another one of Primal Dialga's pawns.

Grovyle gets up. "I'm getting sick and tired of you guys getting in our way." As he says that, he readies himself into a pose. "And unfortunately for you and your masters, I'm changing the future, like it or not!" This boils Silver's blood for this just confirms his suspicions. He starts to levitate as his body as the energy from before surrounds him once more as the two rush at each other.

FIGHT![]

(Cue: RIVAL BATTLE : SILVER THE HEDGEHOG)

Grovyle's leaves on his arm glow green as the energy transforms into a blade, ready to slash at Silver. The white hedgehog swings his hand at Grovyle and counters his Leaf Blade with his Psychokinesis with the force of the two attacks colliding pushing the two back from each other as they land back onto the ground. "Huh, he's stronger than he looks..." Grovyle thought to himself. "No wonder why they sent him after me. But let's see if this works..." "So he's capable of creating energy blades around his body. Never seen that before..." Silver thought. "No! It doesn't matter if he can do that or not! All I need to do is keep him still and-" But before Silver could finish his thought, Grovyle rushes at Silver at blinding speed while socking him in the gut, taking the wind out of surprised Silver.

"Hmph, I knew it." Grovyle said as he stood over Silver. "Not so tough without your glow, huh?" Grovyle then prepares another Leaf Blade to strike Silver down, but before he could, he freezes in place. Surprised, Grovyle yells out "What the hell!?" That's when Grovyle realizes that the hedgehog's cyan glow is now surrounding him. "What?" Silver replied to him. "Did you really think all I could use my Psychokinesis for was just to use it on myself?" Grovyle, now annoyed, opens his mouth and fires a bunch of seeds out of it at the speed of bullets onto Silver. "OW! OW! HEY, STOP IT! KNOCK IT OFF!" Silver yelled at Grovyle before motioning his hand away from him, causing the grass gecko to stop his Bullet Seed attack and be sent flying into a tree, away from Silver.

KO![]

Trivia[]

  • The part where the Pokémon were running past Silver is a reference to the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon manga, where multiple Pokémon ran away from Zapdos and past the main characters, who originally thought they were going to fight all of them.
  • No, I don't know why I compared Sonic, Shadow, and Silver to Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey.
