Grimm vs Freddy Krueger is a What-if? Death Battle by Y3p owo, and is not only his first episode of season two, but also his Halloween Special. It features Grimm from Hollow Knight and Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Description

Hollow Knight vs A Nightmare on Elm Street! A nightmarish Halloween fight for you. Two beings that can use the dream world to their advantage will now fight to see who TRULY is the master of nightmares. Will Grimm show Freddy why he is called the Nightmare King, or will Freddy continue the endless loop of the Nightmare's Heart?

RULES

• Grimm will have his Nightmare King form.
• I'm only using Freddy Krueger from his movies and Freddy vs Jason (But not his Reboot or New Nightmare).
• Both combatants will be around the same size (for obvious reasons).

Introduction

Wiz: Dreams are a wonderful thing aren't they. But these masters of nightmares would say otherwise.

Boomstick: Grimm, the Troupe Master of the Grimm Troupe and King of Nightmares.

Wiz: And Freddy Krueger, the nightmare slasher of Elm Street.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE!

Grimm

Wiz: The kingdom of Hallownest was once a great and beautiful kingdom. That was until the infection, which was created by The Radiance, took over the kingdom.

Boomstick: Seeing that there was only one way to stop it, the Pale King created multiple children to help him seal away the infection, and all but one of them failed to meet dear old pop's expectation so he threw them away and left his kingdom to rot after sealing The Radiance in his child and forcing the Dreamers into an eternal slumber. And here I thought MY childhood was bad.

Wiz: Many years have passed since that day, when all of a sudden a certain knight came to the kingdom to succeed where their sibling, the Hollow Knight, has failed.

Boomstick: But before they could take the Hollow Knight's place, The Knight did a BUNCH of other stuff like: doing the Colosseum of Fools, traveling to the depths of Deepnest, getting trained by the Nail Masters, and conquering Godhome.

Wiz: But one of the more interesting things they did was participating in a certain ritual that was orchestrated by the one and only: Grimm.

Boomstick: This Count Dracula look-alike is the troupe master of the Grimm Troupe, which makes him automatically an narcissist, and the host of the Nightmare's Heart. And he's... actually not a bad guy when you really take a good look at what he does. Hell, if anything he's Lawful Neutral.

Wiz: Moving on from his alignment, Grimm was summoned to Hollownest, thanks to The Knight lighting the Nightmare Lantern, and tells said knight to go out and gather the Nightmare Flames to fuel the Nightmare's Heart, which may or may not be enslaving all of the Grimm Troupe, Grimm included.

Boomstick: Grimm has multiple attacks at his disposal. He can fire three Fire Bats at his enemies, and if any of them get in arms length of him he teleports behind them fires a single Fire Bat.

Wiz: He teleport above in the air, wrapping himself with his cloak to look like a drill, and use his Dive Dash move. And with that same cloak, he can surround himself with it and turn into a pufferfish while spewing a bullet hell ton of small fire balls, and while in that form he becomes untouchable. And once again, he can use his cloak to produce multiple tall spikes from the ground to impale his opponents.

Boomstick: Grimm can tap into his bug-like instincts and skitter across the ground on four legs to get away from his foes, has a teleport, and can channel his into Ryu and do a SHORYUKEN! after doing a horizontal swipe at you and then bursts into five fireballs which turn into pillars of flames once they hit the ground.

Wiz: Very original joke, Boomstick...

Boomstick: And yet that one joke has more originality than every single 3-AM Youtuber in existence combined.

Wiz: (Is he allowed to say that?) ANYWAY! Grimm has the ability to travel through the Dream World, can turn into a form that resembles the GrimmChild's larval stage when he takes a massive blow as well as creating shadowy duplicates of himself while in that form, his screams causes the screen to shake when attacking him while he's bowing at you (which is very rude by the way), and can come back after turning into gas and vapors after his first defeat. Actually now that we think about it, during the cutscene that takes place after the fight he doesn't show any signs of fatigue or injuries.

Boomstick: But that's not all kiddos, when Dream Nailing him when he's asleep (sounds less weirder with context) you fight his dream self. Introducing: Nightmare King Grimm!

Wiz: This form, all of his attacks not only quicker but also packing more of a punch than normal. He produce four Fire Bats instead of three and can fire two Fire Bats when you get in arms length of him instead of just one, his Dive Dash is faster than normal and has a fire trail when he does it.

Boomstick: He can produce six fireballs instead of five with his Dash Uppercut, can do his Cloak Spikes while not being present, his Pufferfish attack's fireballs are quicker, and he gets a brand new move where he hovers in place while producing four pillars of flames where his opponent is.

Wiz: Grimm can keep up with The Knight, who can dodge lasers, can tank hits from said knight (even if his weapon is fully upgraded), has full awareness of if he's in a dream or not, can deny access into his subconscious, and might've survived his final fight against The Knight.

Boomstick: Well he can come back once the GrimmChild fully grows up but-

Wiz: No I mean he survived survived. Well, technically I mean.

Boomstick: Do you have any proof for that claim?

Wiz: Yes actually, Godhome. In Godhome, whenever you Dream Nail him in Godhome, even after you defeated him or banished him, he says how lucky he is to apart of the Godseeker's ritual. Again we could be reading too much into this and could just be him acknowledging that he's in a dream or something like that.

Boomstick: Well then, I guess the moral of the story is: DON'T SUMMON DEMONS!

Grimm: Dance with me, my friend. The crowd awaits. Show them you are worthy of a starring role!

Freddy Krueger

Wiz: Once upon a time in Springwood, there was a terrible man.

Boomstick: How terrible was he Wiz?

Wiz: Oh he was a child murderer.

Boomstick: Oh ok then.

Wiz: The town of Springwood finally got him and putted him on trial.

Boomstick: But unfortunately he got of scot-free thanks to a technicality. And you can bet your ass that the parents of his victims didn't like that one bit.

Wiz: Indeed, they tracked him down and set the building on fire, killing him.

Boomstick: …Or did he?

Wiz: While burning alive, the Dream Demons came to him and gave him an offer: They send him into the Dream World and let him have control over it, but in a exchange for that power, he would have to kill the living in their dreams so the Dream Demons would channel their souls. Just guess what he picked.

Boomstick: After accepting the deal, he left his old/quickly ending life behind him and then became a fedora wearing dream demon with a Edward Scissorhands hand. Actually, who was that guy anyway?

Wiz: That my friend, was Freddy Krueger.

*(Shows scene of Freddy dressed up as the Wicked Witch of the West) I'll get you, my pretty! And your little soul, too!*

Boomstick: *snorts* This guy is the "Master of Fear"? I'm sorry but, he makes me laugh more than scream.

Wiz: Don't be distracted by his quips and quotes Boomstick. He's a force to be reckoned with.

Boomstick: I know, but you do have to admit that it's hard to take him seriously.

Wiz: I would disagree with you... If you weren't 100% right.

Boomstick: Moving on from talking about how he's one of the most quotable slasher villains ever, Freddy has quite the number of powers and abilities. Like warping reality in the Dream World to soot whatever joke he wants to say, shapeshift himself and can stretch his arms, possess people if they're asleep or high, can absorb people souls (when they're dead), has an insane regeneration, and can produce fire and has telekinesis.

Wiz: Freddy has fought against Jason, was able to keep fighting Jason after he chopped off his arm and survived having his head chopped off.

Boomstick: Speaking of Jason, the actor of Freddy said that Jason won the fight. Sooooo yeah.

Wiz: And that's the perfect segway to Mr. Krueger's faults and weakness. Freddy has pyrophobia (despite being able to use fire) and can be sent back to the real world if his opponents know they're in a dream or with fire, is VERY cocky and overconfident, preferring to play with his victims instead of killing them there (but then again they usually can't do anything to him), can still feel pain despite his healing factor, and is weak to crosses, holy water, and... Reflections of himself? WHAT!?

Boomstick: Ah, the magic of bullshit horror movie magic. And let's not forget that the Dream Demons can strip him of his powers if they deem him unworthy and he needs people to know him and fear him to exist.

Wiz: Never the less, Freddy Krueger, despite his quips and quotes, is one nightmarish monster of a man.

Freddy: Welcome to Prime Time, BITCH!

Interlude

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we gathered the data, so let's end this debate once and for all.

Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR DEATH BATTLE!

Death Battle

Pre-Fight

Location: idk a Dream World that looks like an empty void maybe?

(cue that one wind sound from undertale (tm) )

After Krueger's latest defeat, he awoken in a place very... different than what he's use to. It was a black void of nothing for as far as the eye can see.

Freddy: Where the hell am I? Am I finally in Hell now?

That's when he saw something interesting appear below him. It looked to be a underground kingdom.

Freddy: Well, well, well. LOOKS LIKE I'M BACK IN BUSINESS EARLIER THAN USUAL! HAHAHAHAHA!

That's when Freddy heard a voice call out to him.

???: Why hello there, my new friend...

Freddy turned around in confusion to see a weird Dracula looking thing right behind him.

Freddy: Who the hell are you suppose to be, the Devil?

???: No, no, no, no, not at all my friend. My name is Grimm, the troupe master of the Grimm Troupe. And you are?

Freddy(thinking): Why is he acting so formal? He must know something that I don't...

Grimm: I suppose you don't have to tell me your name. But you can at least tell me what you're doing here.

Freddy: Well if you must know "Grimm", I was about to continue my job.

Grimm: And that would be?

Freddy: Killing people in their dreams!

Grimm: Hhmmm, I'm afraid you'll be unable to do that here of places.

Freddy: Oh? And what the hell are you going to do to stop me, Lucifer?

Grimm: Wait what? No I already told you, I'm not-

Freddy: Oh save your tricks for the dumbasses who'll believe you Lucifer, I already know that this is all a big trick and you've finally found a way to drag me to hell!

Freddy thrusts his arm towards Grimm in an attempt to kill him, only to be met with a face full of red gases and turns around to see Grimm behind him.

Grimm: *sighs* If you want a fight, my friend, you've got one. But remember, you asked for this...

FIGHT!

Round 1: A dance in the empty void

(cue Toby Fox | Megalo Strike Back Remix)

Grimm gives Freddy a bow while Freddy slices him at his torso. Grimm replied to the act of rudeness with a screech so loud that the area they were fighting in begun to shake before teleporting away from Krueger and appearing above him. Grimm then used his Pufferfish attack, launching multiple small fire balls all over the place. Freddy, knowing what would happen if anyone of the fire balls touched him, teleported away from the fire balls.

Freddy: Phew, that was a close one- AARGH!

Freddy got interrupted by Grimm doing his Cloak Spike attack, impaling the Springwood Slasher (not that it did any lasting damage to him).

Freddy: Ugh, y-you got me...

As Grimm got closer to his opponent to finish him off, the hole in Freddy's chest begins heals itself almost instantly.

Freddy: SIKE!!

Freddy then grabs Grimm by the neck and proceeds to slam Grimm into the non-existing ground. Freddy then proceeds to slice at the troupe master, but is soon disappointed by the lack of a diced corpse and seeing instead red smoke. Grimm appears in front of Freddy and fired his three Fire Bats at him with Freddy barley dodge them.

Freddy: Can you stop with goddamn fire attacks!?

Grimm teleports in front of him and socked him in the face.

Grimm: Is that better?

Freddy impales Grimm's gut with his bladed glove.

Freddy: Yes actually that is a lot better.

Krueger kicks Grimm away and proceeded to have a pillar of flames appear where Grimm was, setting him ablaze.

Freddy: What's wrong Satan my boy, too hot for even YOU to handle?

Grimm teleported behind him and does his Dash Uppercut attack on the kiddy slaughter. Freddy quickly dodges the freshly made fire balls before they landed.

Freddy: HA! You missed bitch!

Freddy is then once again impaled by Grimm's spikes.

Grimm: Did I miss that time?

Grimm then fired his three Fire Bats at the Dream Demon. Freddy, getting pissed off, slashes them away with his glove and then stretched his arm to land a nice juicy blow on him. But much to Freddy's surprised, Grimm turned into multiple weird small shadow things that were flying around.

Freddy: Huh, you don't someone else do that everyday.

Grimm reformed a couple of feet away from Freddy before teleporting again to do his Pufferfish move once more. Freddy barley dodge them all again and extended his arm to tried and make Grimm pop only to bounce off of him, much to Freddy's surprise. Grimm then fired more Fire Bats at him only for them to meet the same fate the other ones did. Freddy then decided to fight fire with fire, and by that I mean he produces fire to try and burn Grimm alive again, but Grimm teleported away from it, much it Freddy's anger.

Freddy: You're REALLY pissing me off, Lucifer! So why don't you do us both a favor right now and DIE BITCH!

Freddy teleported right next to Grimm and went to town on him, slicing and dicing him, trying to turn the troupe master into red paste. Freddy then proceeded to stab Grimm's gut over and over again with his glove, and after the fifth stab Grimm turned into the multiple small shadowy GrimmChild larva again and started to flew away from the Dream Demon.

Freddy: Where do you think YOUR going, Old Scratch? I ain't done with you yet, bitch!

Freddy began to chases after the shadow GrimmChild larva. However, that's EXACTLY what Grimm wanted him to do. Grimm eventually reformed and continued to flee from Krueger, but only far enough so he could still see him.

(Music Stops)

Freddy noticed the room started to turn red and could very faintly hear a heart beat. Where was he now, and more importantly, where the hell did that Dracula wanna-be go?

Freddy: All right Satan, Where are you? Come out come out where ever you are.

Freddy went further in, he could hear the heartbeat grow louder as he went.

Freddy: I never knew that the Devil would be such a pussy, best news of my AFTER LIFE!

Then Freddy was something that looked to be an opening. An exit from this place perhaps?

Freddy: Well if your not gonna play with little old Freddy anymore, I'm going to take my leave then.

Freddy darted for the opening, that's when his vision was blinded by a bright red light. The light soon vanished to reveal an audience and what looked to be a nightmarish heart.

Freddy: Now what the fuck is this shit!? And who the fuck are this pricks!?

???: These are my Grimm Troupe, and this is the Nightmare Heart, my friend...

Freddy: That voice... Is that you Lucifer? Tired of running away like a little bitch now are we?

???: I am not Lucifer. And I wasn't running from you, I was luring you to the Nightmare Heart so I am finish this dance of ours.

The center opening of Nightmare Heart was showing something, it looked like it was a miniature version of Grimm. But it wasn't Grimm anymore, for it was now:

NIGHTMARE KING GRIMM

Round 2: The final dance in the Nightmare Heart

(cue Nightmare King (Hollow Knight: The Grimm Troupe) )

Location: Nightmare Heart

NK Grimm did the first attack by shooting out four Fire Bats at Freddy, who dodge them all and stretched his arm to impale Grimm once more. But Grimm teleported away from Krueger's attack and once Freddy reeled his arm back in he appeared right in front of him socked the burn victim in the face (that sounds awful out of context). Freddy then used his telekinesis to pinball Grimm all over the place like certain slasher villain that Freddy fought against, sounds and all.

Freddy: Tilt.

NK Grimm teleported in front of Krueger and Dash Uppercutted him once again, but this time it really harmed him. Freddy then dodge the fire balls again only to meet with a spike into the mouth, no one could hear his screams of pain and anger.

Freddy: THAT'S IT! I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE THE DEVIL OR NOT, I'M GOING TO FUCKING MURDER YOU!

NK Grimm: But the question is can you, my friend?

NK Grimm fired his Fire Bats again only for them to collide with Freddy's own fire. NK Grimm then appeared above the ground, completely still, and before Freddy could insult Grimm for just floating there he noticed a little flame underneath him. Instincts took over him and he leap away from the now giant flaming pillar, he then noticed another small flame next to him, so he teleported away from it and the next two.

Freddy: Can you PLEASE stop it with the fire and fight me like a man!?

NK Grimm: And why should I? You haven't given me a single reason to why I shouldn't use any of my fire attacks. In fact, I've noticed how cautious you were when I used them, you're not afraid of fire, are you?

Freddy: Are you making fun of ME!?

NK Grimm: Perhaps~

Freddy then lunged himself on top of Grimm and started impaling him with his bladed glove over and over and over again.

Freddy: DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! DIE! I'LL SHOW YOU WHY I'M THE MASTER OF FEAR, YOU FUCKING COUNT DRACULA REJECT!!!

NK Grimm: Well then (ow), your not (ow) doing a very (ow) good job then (ow).

Freddy plunged his knifed glove deep into Grimm stomach until he until back into his staggered state (the shadowy GrimChild larva form) and escaped Freddy's grasp.

Freddy: GET BACK HERE AND DIE LIKE THE FUCKING BITCH YOU ARE!!

NK Grimm replied to him by using his Pufferfish attack again, this time however, Freddy got hit by one of the fire balls.

Freddy: OH GOD NNNNNOOOOOOOO-

Location: Grimm Troupe's main tent

(cue Grimm (Hollow Knight: The Grimm Troupe) )

Freddy then woke up in another weird area, it looked like a poor traveling circus dressing room. But there was one thing that caught his eye more than anything else, Grimm staring him dead in the eyes.

Freddy: What the hell are you...?

Grimm: Like I said, I'm Grimm, troupe master to the Grimm Troupe, and we're not finished with our dance...

Grimm then grabbed him and threw him into the main stage of the tent, with the another crowd watching them, Grimm appeared two feet away from Krueger. Freddy rushed at Grimm, in a vain hope to stab him, but Grimm teleported behind him and did his Dash Uppercut again. But this time, he separated Freddy's torso from his leg and then sliced both lower and upper parts of him clean in half. Grimm finished the fight by sic'ing his Fire Bats on Freddy's remains, turning them to ash. Grimm finished it by bowing at the ashes of his deceased "dance partner". That's when a certain knight with a GrimmChild came into the tent.

Grimm: Ah, my friend. My apologies, but I just finished having the most splendid dance with a foul mouthed stranger. His ashes are right next to you in fact. Unfortunately, I'm a bit exhausted after that so I must rest before we can finish the ritual. Is that ok with you?

Conclusion

Boomstick: Hot damn, now that's what I call a nightmare of a battle.

Wiz: This fight wasn't as close as you might first think, especially when Nightmare King Grimm stepped in the picture.

Boomstick: Grimm took Speed/Reaction Time and Experience for smarts and combat. And once he brought Freddy to the real world, everything else. Hell, the only thing Freddy TRULY had against Grimm was a better healing factor

Wiz: Grimm's fire could've send Freddy back into the real world and kill him there, if anything both of them being in the Dream World was more of a good thing to Grimm since he would get his Nightmare King form. And before anyone says it, Grimm WOULD know that he's in a dream, seeing as he's the Nightmare Heart's host and his boss fight in Godhome.

Boomstick: Yeah, Dream Freddy COULD'VE had the strength to kill regular Grimm, but he had NO way of countering his superior Nightmare King form. I guess you could say his chances of winning were "Grimm".

Wiz: The winner is Grimm.

• The connection is that both combatants are nightmare beings.
• The fight's animation would be hand drawn.
• The fight's soundtrack would be "The Nightmare Circus", referencing how both combatants are beings who can control nightmares and how the Grimm Troupe looks like they are a traveling circus group. The cover would have the GrimmChild with a Freddy Krueger-like color scheme.
• Y3p owo was really proud of the thumbnail he made for this battle.
• Y3p owo had to BS a reason why Freddy didn't fight Nightmare King Grimm so early (since you fight Nightmare King Grimm in the Dream World).
