Analysis[]

Connections[]

Both are large and monstrous secondary bosses from somewhat bloody fighting games who were the previous champion of tournaments before a spiritual monk (Liu Kang/ Jago) defeated them and took their championship title.

Ever since they lost their championship titles, they’ve been getting stronger and more powerful. This allowed them to be nearly unstoppable forces, as well as being able to take on fighters with extraordinary power.

Both were introduced in the first game of their respective series as one of the final bosses, but later on became playable characters in the first reboot of their franchise (Mortal Kombat 2011/ Killer Instinct 2013)

Both have more than one common body part (Goro has four arms, while Eyedol has two heads).

Both have also had said body part torn off. (Goro had his arms torn off by Kotal Kahn. Eyedol had his head split in half by Gargos), but were still able to fight

Both have signature moves that revolve around hitting their opponents with brute strength (Goro punching with his four fists and stomping on them. Eyedol hitting opponents with his club).

They also have a magical power they use to keep their opponents at a distance (Goro’s fireballs and Eyedol’s purple lightning magic).

Both have an affiliation with a manipulative soul stealing sorcerer that contrasts each other (Goro was the right hand of Shang Tsung. Eyedol was resurrected by Kan-Ra, but refused to serve him)

Both are in someway associated with skulls. (Goro crushes skulls. Eyedol has skulls on his club as well as two skulls around his waste).

During the making of the first installment of their series (Mortal Kombat 1992/ Killer Instinct 1994), their concepts were inspired by stop motion animation (Goro having been animated using stop motion animation. Eyedol’s design was based off old stop motion movie monsters).
