The right man in the wrong place can make all the diff -- erence.. In the world..

Wiz: The year is 2000, May 16th.

Boomstick: Today was an ordinary day for Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist working for Black Mesa, in..New Mexico? Jeez, and I thought he just looked like Walter White!

Wiz: However, Gordon was late, by a whole 30 minutes, but Gordon manages to don his HEV Suit, and get to the Lambda Core, where he is greeted by his colleagues, and promptly shoved right into the chamber.

Boomstick: When the the Anti-Mass...Spectro..

Wiz: Spectrometer.

Boomstick: The "Spectrometer" is fully charged, Gordy is tasked with putting some weird crystal 'specimen' into it, but suddenly.. It gets stuck.

Wiz: And the results are utterly catastrophic, with the entire Space-Time Continuum being ruptured, triggering what is known as a Resonance Cascade, as alien lifeforms from an alternate dimension invade our home, to try and take over Earth.

Boomstick: Luckily, Gordon had his good ol' HEV Suit to save him from death!

Wiz: After escaping the Lambda Core, Gordon is told by one of the surviving Science Team members to try and go to the surface, but before he can do so, he has to face off against the hostile aliens transported into our world.

Boomstick: When Gordon gets higher up, so he winds up killing the parasitic headcrabs, who have the power to attach themselves to your head and take over your body, and also mutate it.

Wiz: However, Gordon ends up dispatching of them with relative ease, as he ventures everywhere on the facility.

Boomstick: Gordon comes across the Vortigaunts, these creatures who exist beyond Spacetime, can teleport and even shoot lightning bolts out of their hands, but he's able to kill them, too.

Wiz: Gordon, after rigorously fighting his way to win, finds something out.

Boomstick: One of the scientists actually wants to stay down there! Thinking that he'd eventually be rescued.

Wiz: But, that, is actually incredibly ironic, as when HECU Marines were dispatched to Black Mesa, they had other plans, their way of doing things was to execute everything and everyone associated with the Black Mesa Research Facility, on-sight, as a way of covering the Resonance Cascade up.

Boomstick: But somehow, Gordon was able to singlehandedly kill ALL of the heavily trained Marines!

Wiz: Ahem, and so, Gordon escapes Black Mesa, killing all of the Headcrabs and Vortigaunts inside of the facility, but not before the entire invasion is put to a halt.

Boomstick: The very few remaining Scientists of Black Mesa help send Gordon into the Xen Homeworld, as Gordon does some parkour, meeting more of the hostile Xen creatures enslaved by the Nihilanth, and heck- even the Headcrabs FINAL for- Wai- Wait, is.. Is that..?

Wiz: Is that what?

Gonarch

Boomstick: Is uh, is that a testic-

Wiz: What!? No -- It's called a Gonarch!

Boomstick: Wiz. Crabs come out of the SACK.

Wiz: No, we are not doing this- Let's get back on topic.

Boomstick: Erm, and after slaying most of them, he ends up face to face with the leader of the Xen Creatures! THE NIHILANTH!

Wiz: And, using his vast arsenal of weaponry, including the Gauss and Gluon Guns, Gordon is able to successfully kill the Nihilanth, and indirectly free the whole entire population of Xen from their enslavement.

Boomstick: Aaaand, after killing the gross psychic fetus, Gordon impresses this weird guy who stalks you through the entire game! Named the G-Man!

Wiz: The G-Man, an otherworldly godlike being, gives Gordon a choice, to agree to work for him and his mysterious employers, or be left on Xen without anything to defend himself with to die.

Boomstick: With the clear option in mind, and like any sane person, Gordon chooses the first option!

Wiz: However, this actually causes Gordon to get put into stasis by the G-Man for two decades, as the G-Man signals the deadly multiversal empire, the Combine, to Earth.

  • Full name: Gordon Freeman
  • Age: 27 (Biologically) 47 (Chronologically)
  • Height: 6'3" |
  • Weight: 192 lbs | 87kg
  • Titles: The One Free Man, The Opener of the Way
  • Occupation: Theoretical Physicist (formerly) Resistance Leader
  • Built a Potato Gun as a child
  • Highly trained professional!

Boomstick: When The G-Man woke Gordon up with a little rise and shine speech, he inserted him into a train for 'City 17'

Wiz: It turns out, that when Gordon left all those years ago, that the Combine were able to defeat every single government power on Earth in less than seven hours, but when arriving, Gordon meets the Civil Protection Force, people who willingly joined the Combine, as he is then taken to interrogation.

Boomstick: Buuuuut, this Metrocop is actually Barney Calhoun! Gordon's best friend and the protagonist of the Blue Shift expansion for the first game, who Gordon still owes a beer!

Wiz: Indeed, Barney went undercover as a Metrocop for the Resistance, and after a bit of discussion he contacts Isaac Kleiner, Gordon's old MIT Teacher, and former Black Mesa researcher, as he decides to send Gordon over to Kleiner's lab, but along the way, Gordon gets caught up in a Civil Protection raid, and is captured.

Boomstick: But not for long, as he's saved by a resistance member named Alyx Vance, who's the daughter of another Black Mesa worker, Eli Vance, who takes Gordon to Kleiner's lab, getting Gordon equipped with an upgraded version of his HEV Suit.

Wiz: Gordon, after a failed teleportation via. Kleiner's pet headcrab, Lamarr, ends up in the office of Earth's Administrator, Wallace Breen, who, seeing Gordon as an imminent threat, puts all Combine Soldiers on full-alert.

Boomstick: With Overwatch Soldiers and Civil Protection on his tail, Gordon, but along the way Gordon fights off them all, as Barney gives Gordon the iconic crowbar he has in all of the games, and after some scuffle, Gordon finally gets to Black Mesa East.

Wiz: Upon arrival, Gordon reunites again, this time, with Eli Vance, as he soon gets acquainted with the Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator, better known as the Gravity Gun, and befriends one of Eli's creations, Dog, but then, Eli gets captured by the Overwatch Soldiers, causing Gordon and Alyx make to make their way to the Nova Prospekt, on a mission to rescue him.

Boomstick: And on their journey, they come across lots-a weird stuff, there's even new Headcrab variants after the Combine got a hold of them, before arriving at Nova Prospekt.

Wiz: When Gordon and Alyx got there, Gordon used Bugbait to control the Antilons, who quickly overwhelmed the Prison Guards at Nova Prospekt, only for Mossman, a spy for Breen, to teleport herself and Eli away, as Gordon embarked on a journey to the Citadel, leading a battle at the Overwatch Nexus with Barney, with them coming out as the victors, as Gordon infiltrates the Combine Citadel.

Boomstick: Weirdly, Gordon's Gravity Gun gets supercharged by the Confiscation Fields, with Gordon battling up the Citadel, until reaching Breen's office, however, Mossman betrays Breen, and frees Eli, but Dr. Breen is able to open a portal to the Combine Overworld, only to be checkmated by Gordon, who destroys the Dark Energy Reactor, making it fail.

Wiz: After it's subsequent failure, the reactor goes Critical and explodes, seemingly killing Breen, as Gordon and Alyx get tangled up in it, but the G-Man, impressed by everything Gordon has done, pauses time, leaving only him and Gordon in motion, as he takes Gordon out of reality, and puts him back into stasis.

Boomstick: But the Vortigaunts alter reality and appear before the G-Man, to rescue Alyx, as they seperate Gordon from the G-Man, and then teleport away with him, angering the G-Man.

Wiz: Buried by a bunch of rubble, Gordon soon awakens, as he is dug out by Dog, as Kleiner informs them that the Citadel could explode at any moment, strong enough to destory all of City 17, forcing the duo to re-enter the Citadel, proceeding into the core, as they slow down the meltdown.

Boomstick: After getting the hell outta there in a Razor Train, Gordon and Alyx flee the City's ruined and dark remains, meeting up with Barney in an abandoned hospital, with citizens and rebels being evacuated, when suddenly- the Citadel explodes!

Wiz: After the crash of the train, Gordon and Alyx survive, as they look over in the distance, in City 17's place, is a massive superportal and it's portal storm, as Gordon and Alyx spot the decimated rail bridge, and follow the path into the mineshaft below.

Boomstick: Now, in the canonical Half-Life timeline, this and continuing onto Episode 2, and later the altered timeline in Half-Life: Alyx, where Eli is now alive, with Alyx trapped in Stasis would be the end of the road as of now.

Wiz: Hoewever, thanks to former series writer Marc Laidlaw, we get to see what could've happened in Episode 3.

Boomstick: And so, Epistle 3 was born!

Wiz: It tells Gordon Freeman, Alyx Vance and the Resistance fighting the Combine while looking for the Borealis after Eli's death in the original, unaltered timeline, however, this will not be used in the battle.

Weapons and Equipment[]

  • The Immolator
  • Overwatch Standard Issue AR2 Pulse Rifle
  • Crowbar
  • Gluon Gun
  • Tau Cannon
  • Colt Phyton Magnum Revolver
  • Glock
  • Beretta 92FS
  • Glock 17
  • MP5 Submachine Gun
  • M4 Assault Rifle
  • RPG
  • Hivehand
  • MK2 Grenade
  • Shotgun
  • Laser Tripmine
  • Satchel Charge
  • Zero-Point Energy Field Manipulator
  • Snarks
  • Crossbow
  • The Borealis (Epistle 3)

Wiz: The Immolator is, much like the Gluon Gun, able to vaporise all organic matter which would include the Strider, a building-sized enemy with built-in combine technology, a feat of this magnitude would require 1.70 kilotons of TNT, or 7.113e+12 joules

Boomstick: That's enough TNT to level a whole town -- but, shouldn't that be cut? I mean, the enemy didn't make it in-game..

Wiz: The reason this will be used is due to the fact that the creatures attached to the Immolator, the Cremator, does actually still exist, although it isn't present as an entity.

Boomstick: Back on the topic of guns, Gordon's AR2 should actually be superior to this! Since it and most of the Combine's weaponry is powered by Antimatter and Dark Energy!

Boomstick: These superweapons usually come packed with 6 balls o' this stuff, and the HEV can absolutely tank it!

Wiz: This would make a fully-charged HEV tanking this have a 6x multiplier if fired consecutively, with the the most notable feature of the Antimatter ammunition is that matter and antimatter violently collide, destroying eachother no matter how strong the other is. If they're made of matter, they're susceptible to this.

Boomstick: Keep in mind the blasts can instantly atomise Combine Soldiers and resistance members without any struggle.

Wiz: The atomisation of a human would be roughly around 1 Ton of TNT, adding the 6x multiplier on, Gordon would be able to survive around 6 Tons of TNT.

Boomstick: Gordon can dodge entire rockets, which move around 9834.88 meters per second!

Wiz: He can also outrun entire explosions caused by the HECU's forces, with relative ease.

Skills and Abilities[]

  • Able to take down an entire military force while only being trained in the use of an MP5 Submachine Gun.
  • Can use any weapon he comes across incredibly effectively, even alien ones, and use them to defeat those who've had years, possibly decades of experience with them.
  • Incredibly quick reflexes.
  • High intellect.
  • Engineering skills.
  • Long as hell PhD.
  • High Endurance
  • Indomitable Will

Boomstick: Pfft! Can't be that bi-

Wiz: Observation of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen Entanglement on Supraquantum Structures by Induction Through Nonlinear Transuranic Crystal of Extremely Long Wavelength Pulse from Mode-Locked Source Array relative and related to each other after a very short duration "Extremely Long Wavelength Pulse" by an arrangement of crystals with an atomic number greater than 92, without coming into physical contact with the structures in question.

Boomstick: I...I take that back.

Wiz: And don't think Freeman's a slouch when it comes to physical capabilities either, he's able to cause an M1A1 Abrams tank to violently explode with his crowbar ALONE.

he standard Pulse Rifle can produce 252 Kilotons of TNT, this is indeed destructive, but the most notable feature of the Antimatter ammunition is that matter and antimatter violently collide, destroying eachother no matter how strong the other is, if they're made of matter, they're susceptible to this.

Boomstick: Oh, and, Gordon can actually absorb this into his suit and Gravity Gun.

Wiz: Nonetheless, no matter how strong the opposing force may be, Gordon will fight on to ensure humanity lives another day.

Boomstick: Heh..Opposing Force.

"Gordon Freeman in the flesh or in the hazard suit I took the liberty relieving you of your weapons, most of them were -- government -- property... as for the suit, I think you've earned it.

(G-Man teleports Gordon to another place.) The border world -- Xen, is in our control for the time being! Thanks to you... Quite a nasty piece of work you managed over there, I. am. impressed! (G-Man teleports Gordon to another Xenian area.) That's why I'm here -- Mr. Freeman... I have recommended your services to my eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-employers -- and they have authorized me to offer you a job. They agree with me that you have, limitless potential. (Gordon is teleported into a tram identical to the one he boared at Black Mesa, inside of a somewhat starry looking void by G-Man.) ..You've proved yourself a decisive man so I don't expect you'll have any trouble deciding what to do - if you're interested just step in the portal and I will take that as a yes. Otherwise erm, -- well, I can offer you a battle you have no chance of winning. Rather an anti-climax after what you've just survived...

Time to choose...

(Gordon jumps into the portal.)

Wisely, done! Mr. Freeman! I will see you up ahead!

Good men mean well. We just don't always end up doing well.

Wiz: One fateful day, a CEC Employee in the year 2058, would try to fix a lost planet-cracker ship, the USG Ishimura, his name; Isaac Clarke.

Boomstick: Isaac and the crew went over to fix up the ol' Ishimura, having a bit of a rocky startm but little did they know, it was infested with a deadly horde of mutant Cosmic Horror alien zombies, called NECROMORPHS!

Wiz: This caused one of his crewmembers, named Chen, to be unfortunately killed.. But in the remake he was just turned into a Slasher, but this is arguably even WORSE than death.

Boomstick: And so, Isaac, Kendra, and Hammond, attempted to escape the Ishimura, Isaac doing.. Most o' the dirty work.

Wiz: But, one by one, they all started getting picked off, Hammond dying first, and in the Remake, it was against the undead Chen.

Boomstick: And so, after a LOOONG, lengthy battle for escape, through greenhouses and Zero-G Chambers, sometimes even against the mad scientist named Dr. Mercer.. Huh, familiar.. And also, Nicole's still alive!?

Wiz: However, all this time, Nicole was actually an EarthGov agent, sent to cover up what happened at the Ishimura, as it turns out The Marker, what's turning these corpses into Necromorphs, is not actually ALIEN.

Boomstick: Huh?

Wiz: Well.. It technically is, but it isn't really, the Marker "discovered on Aegis VII is actually a recreation of a TRUE, alien Marker.

Boomstick: And it turns out, that Nicole wasn't actually alive -- The Marker was just fucking with Isaac's brain to create illusions!

Wiz: In the Remake, she isn't JUST an illusion, rather, Dr. Elizabeth Cross, who was also hallucinating Isaac as her boyfriend, Jacob Temple, killed by Mercer infront of Isaac long ago, both of them were just being manipulated BY the Marker.

Boomstick: Buuut, as Kendra was escaping, the thing controlling all the Necromorphs, the Hivemind, revealed itself, and killed Kendra by slamming her into a pool of blood in the Remake, and bursting her into a bunch of Lego limbs in the OG game!

Wiz: Thus, with nothing else left to lose, Isaac defeated the Hivemind, and finally escaped the nightmare that was the USG Ishimura.

Boomstick: Or, he succumbed to Insanity if you play the Remake's alternate ending-

Wiz: But the Marker had drastic, LIFE CHANGING mental damage, as Kendra stated, meaning Isaac would never be the same, even after escaping.

  • Full name: Isaac Clarke
  • Age: 49
  • Height: 6'0" |
  • Weight: 236 lbs | 107~ kg
  • Titles: The Marker Killer, Patient Four
  • Occupation: C.E.C Systems Engineer
  • The sickness is the cure! The cure is the sickness!
  • Can shred.

Boomstick: So, Isaac got sent to a Mental Institution: Titan Station, that, surprise, surprise, got overrun by Necromorphs.

Wiz: And, to double down on his already great problem, turns out the ones helping him were UNITOLOGISTS.

Boomstick: Aka, the motherfuckers who practically caused the outbreak, and worst of all.. Killed his dad!

Wiz: Not exactly the same ones, but yes, Isaac's mother was a devout Unitologist, so much so that she didn't even give him a penny for education, wasting it all on the Church, and as you said before, killing his father.

Boomstick: But, despite being dirt poor, Isaac managed to graduate with some pretty high honors.

Wiz: Anyways, along the way through the Station, Isaac was contacted by fellow Marker-induced madness victim, Nolan Stross, giving him ways on how to destroy the newly created Marker.

Boomstick: Ellie, who had found the crazy guy on her way toward the Government Sector, agreed to work with 'em.

Wiz: But, soon, and tragically, Stross' already damaged mental state completely collapsed, causing him to go NUTS, taking out one of Ellie's eyes, and forcing Isaac to kill him.

Boomstick: And after getting his hidden memories unlocked by the Noonlight Diagnostics Machine, being hunted by the Ubermorph, and having some metal ass "Acceptance" with his Hallucination Nicole, Isaac regained his sanity, and escaped the falling station with Ellie.

Wiz: And so, Isaac started a new life with Ellie as his girlfriend, in hiding from both EarthGov and the Unitologists.

Boomstick: Well, that was until Dead Space 3, where they broke up -- poor dude just can't catch a break..

Wiz: This time, with John Carver and Robert Norton of EarthGov's Special Forces, who infiltrated Isaac's apartment and captured him, because they needed his help after the Unitologists basically destroyed most of EarthGov's power.

Boomstick: But Isaac and Carver get split up from Norton after a suicide bomber appears, and a whole bunch of stuff happens, including Isaac almost being shot, and them ultimately going to the planet called Tau Volantis, infested with Unitologists and Necromorphs, with Isaac's ex-girlfriend Ellie's distress beacon being picked up, however, when she was found with Norton of all people, which Isaac was uh... Not too happy about to say the least.

Wiz: They all took on hordes of the mutant undead, and evil cultists, however, Norton betrayed the three, selling them out to the leader of Unitology's militant faction, Jacob Danik, in exchange for his own survival and everyone else's -- except for Isaac, of course.

Boomstick: I'm starting to feel like the Universe itself just hates the guy.

Wiz: Considering what happens next, after losing contact with Ellie among other things, they're able to clear out the Unitologist forces on Tau Volantis, stop the formation of a Brethren Moon out of the Tau Volantis Moon, and its Convergence Event -- however, when they arrive back at Earth, the other Brethren Moons are already starting a Convergence Event on Earth. Their status after this is, sadly unknown, and unfortunately may remain that way forever.

Boomstick: Let's uh, just get to the weapons and stuff now..

Skills and Abilities[]

  • Engineering prowess
  • Hacking
  • Indomitable Will
  • Weapons mastery

Wiz: Isaac is a jack-of-all trades, being a master of the many futuristic sci-fi weapons he's obtained, able to solve complex puzzles using his experience as an engineer.

Boomstick: But most of all, his indomitable will to keep pushing forward even in the face of the unknown horrors beyond my comprehension is his most useful asset!

Weaponry[]

  • 211-V Plasma Cutter
  • RIG
  • Stasis Module
  • Kinesis Module
  • SWS Motorized Pulse Rifle
  • C99 Supercollider Contact Beam
  • Handheld Graviton Accelerator
  • IM-822 Handheld Ore Cutter Line Gun
  • Submachine Gun
  • Javelin Gun
  • PFM-100 Hydrazine Torch Flamethrower
  • RC-DS Remote Control Disc Ripper
  • Detonator

Wiz: Despite shining most in weapons, Isaac's RIG is incredibly fast with his suit's thrusters, being able to catch up to a Bullet Train, and can even dodge a bullet without it, And can even dismember Necromorphs with his bare hands, which would require 1,260 lbs of force, and with equipment, is able to dish out 1.191008604207 Tons of TNT.

Boomstick: Isaac's even able to catch up to a bullet train with his RIG's Zero-G Thrusters.

Wiz: Isaac can also dodge point-blank bullets, giving him a reaction-time roughly around 857.5 to 1000 meters per second.

Boomstick: So, if you're a reanimated space miner, you'd better pray you don't come across this Engineer wherever you walk.

...

Unless you beat him in a QTE sequence.

"Good men mean well... We just don't always end up doing well."
~ Isaac Clarke to John Carver.

Pre-Fight[]

In the blank, swirling void of Stasis, the famed Dr. Gordon Freeman awakes to the sound of an o-so-familiar man, a "G-Man" to be exact, Dr. Freeman looked straight ahead at the G-Man, who had something to say.

G-Man: Rise and -- shine, Dr.. Freeman, rise and -- shine, not that I wish to imply that you have been -- sleeping on, -- the.. job, after all, and.. I apologise for your -- Current predicament, this may.. deviate slightly from your -- usual, assignments, hm?

Dr. Freeman stared silently, but Interdimensional bureaucrat knew he was listening.

G-Man: So, wake up.. Wake up, and.. Smell -- the ashes.

Gordon was phased into a broken down spacecraft, he had his HEV Suit, which the G-Man stated he could keep, along with the weapons he's amassed from his time fighting the Xenian Invasion and the Combine, however, a strange, necrotic head attacked him with it's appendages, squirming, trying to tear his head off, but the Freeman took out his trusty Crowbar, and gave it a good whack.

BANG!

And surely enough, the head flopped down, certainly dead, as Gordon progressed forwards, as another undead humanoid blocked his path, but to his surprise, the limbs of it were blasted off, as a man in bulky armor walked forth, Gordon, sensing imminent danger, took out his Overwatch Standard Issue Pulse Rifle and aimed for the man, who, sensing the same hostility, took out his own SWS Motorized Pulse Rifle, and began blasting at Freeman, who fired at the same time.

DEATH BATTLE![]

Rules: Gordon and Isaac will have ammo and whatnot scattered around for them to find.

FIGHT![]

Gordon ducked beneath the bullets fired from Isaac's gun, and threw a Satchel Charge at Isaac.

The systems engineer held his hand forward and caught it mid-air, as the Kinesis Module activated, Gordon took a look at it in fascination, but quickly snapped out, and before Isaac could throw it, Gordon pressed the detonator, and all Isaac saw was a small spark, and then a massive explosion.

Isaac grunted as he was knocked back a couple feet, but he quickly regained his footing.

"Who is this guy..? He can't just be another grunt.."

Isaac thought in confusion, trying to puzzle together the identity of the man he was fighting, but there wasn't anytime for this -- he had to fight.

Just in time, Gordon shot from his SPAS-12, but Isaac threw his hand out, and a bright blue bolt hit the bullets, completely slowing them down to a halt, this was the Stasis Module. Gordon rushed at Isaac, who slid under the slowed bullets, but as he did so Gordon was already there -- and had bashed his head with a crowbar.
