Description[]
Dragon Quest vs Undertale vs Ben 10 vs Willie’s Wonderland vs Megamind, sleep is an essential thing for humans, and before you go to sleep, you may hear the words Night Night, and now, five characters whose names are plays on that word battle it out, yes, we’re being fully serious.
Intro[]
Sheldon: Night Knight, Dragon Quests cruel king turned into a skeletal warrior.
Deadpool: Knight Knight, Undertales tired wielder of the Good Morningstar.
Sans: Nighty Knight, Ben 23’s Nemuina transformation.
Sheldon: Knighty Knight, the murderous knightly animatronic of Willie’s Wonderland.
Deadpool: and Lord Nighty-Knight, shadow manipulating member of Megaminds old team, The Doom Syndicate.
Sans: their Sheldon and Deadpool, and I’m sans, and it’s our job to analyse their powers, weapons and stats to figure out who would win-
ALL: A DEATH BATTLE!!!
Night Knight[]
Sheldon: The journey was finished, everyone was saved, Hero and their friends had defeated the villain and brought back all the lost islands from their journey across time.
Deadpool: But that’s just the main storyline, which really isn’t important here.
Sans: For those unaware, since number 5 the Dragon Quest games have had a bonus dungeon that you can explore once you’ve finished the game, filled with rewards to earn, Easter eggs to find, and new bosses and monsters to fight.
Sheldon: And it is the second dungeon, The Cave to Yet Another World, that the combatant we’re covering today appears in, a large skeleton clad in armour, wielding a sword and shield with mighty strength, Night Knight.
Deadpool: wanna know what their description says about them? Oh, nothing much, just that they were KINGS WHO INVADED HELL JUST TO KEEP THEIR RULE GOING! That… is hardcore.
Sans: as an RPG character, we’ve got a lot to discuss about them, as you may have guessed from any picture you see of them, they wield a large blade, but they actually have access to quite a few.
Sheldon: in one game, their sword has many spikes at its end, in another, it looks more like a machete, and should you defeat them, they drop the Massacre Sword, a cursed blade that grants an attack bonus ranging anywhere from +95 to +120, and gives a style bonus (Charisma) of +15, however, it also drops your defense all the way down to zero.
Deadpool: Another item Night Knight drops is the Skull Helm, a helmet that increases defense by +32% and while unnecessary here, increases Charm by +36%, but it comes with a drawback of sometimes making it that the wearer just won’t perform an action.
Sans: Finally, they wield the dark shield, which increases defense by 45%, reduces fire and ice damage by -5%, and when used, casts absorb magic, basically if someone should use a magic based attack against them, the shield can absorb the magic to fuel their own MP, which is what allows Night Knight to cast their own spells, of which there is quite a few.
Sheldon: Night Knight can use Kafrizzle, a large fireball that is described as being able to incinerate enemies, and they can also utilise Fullheal, which, if you couldn’t tell, fully restores the targets health.
Deadpool: and… finally, they have Kacrack, which generates large amounts of ice to pierce the enemies, wait why does it say finally, there’s a bunch of other abilities here.
Sans: simply put, they ain’t spells, their skills and traits, special abilities that don’t use magic, for example, Desperate Attack allows monsters to pull off a Critical Hit, and Muster Strength allows them to increase the damage of their next attack by 200-250%.
Sheldon: Freezing Blizzard is a breath attack where Night Knight breathes out… a small blizzard that deals ice damage.
Deadpool: wait so, it freezes the target?
Sheldon: no, it just damages you, I’d say the best explanation of what Ice Damage is would be Frostbite (which bare skin can receive under, you guessed it, a Blizzard), where when you’re skin becomes very cold it starts to become painful, your skin may change colour and when warmed up you may get blood blisters, while this doesn’t happen in game, that’s likely because those are cases of extreme Frostbite, the move having a cooldown likely means it can’t reach that stage.
Sans: but this isn’t all, Night Knight also appears in the Dragon Quest Monsters games, which, if you didn’t know, is basically just Pokémon.
Deadpool: now, we’re not going to waste time listing every weapon they can get in the game, because there isn’t any that particularly affects the fight, so we’ll just say that Night Knights can have any item in the Swords, Spears, Claws and Staves categories equipped.
Sheldon: but, more importantly, they receive various Traits and the Sizz and Zam skills.
Deadpool: the Metal Beater and Metal Medley both make it that their attacks deal extra damage to metal foes, Fly Swatter makes hitting flying foes as easy as hitting grounded ones, Tactical Trooper lets them perform two actions in a row, and Rando-Muster means the previously mentioned Muster Strength will occasionally be automatically applied.
Sans: Thanks to their large size they have Dodge Denier, which makes it impossible for them to miss, Critical Sensation increases the chance for a Critical Hit to be landed and Desperate Measures, which decreases the chance for one to be landed on Night Knight.
Sheldon: The Sizz and Zam skill comes in three levels, at level one they can fire Sizz (a line of fire), Zam (a blast of dark energy), Charring Slash (a fire imbued sword slash), Shade Slash (a darkness imbued sword slash), Zammle (a blast of dark lightning) and Sizzle (a wave of hellfire).
Deadpool: at level two Night Knight unlocks Kazam (multiple crushing black orbs) and Kasizz (engulfs a group of foes in fire) and can use Sizz Guard, basically using an attack, for defence.
Sans: and then at level three they unlock Singeing and Shadow slash (stronger versions of the Charring and Shade slashes), Kasizzle (which coats the whole area in fire), Kazammle (big, Fuck-Off dark energy attack) and can also use Zam to guard.
Sheldon: and we’re not finished, because Night Knight also has several resistances worth talking about.
Deadpool: their 100% resistances include crack and ice breath (the previously mentioned ice damage), Whack (Insta Death), Poof (BFR), Poison, Burning Breath (doesn’t burn, it paralyses), Fuddle (confusion), Snooze (sleep), Dazzle (Illusions), Ban Dance (stops dancing moves (which they don’t have any of) and Stun.
Sans: as for 50% resistances, they have that to Drain Magic and Sap (which steal magic and strength) and Fizzle (stops target from casting spells).
Sheldon: Night Knight is incredibly impressive, and they’d have to be to fight the Heroes after they defeated the end game boss, Orogdemir, who’s power was so great that it threatened to banish all the continents they’d brought back throughout the game.
Deadpool: and while he’s on the slower side reaction wise, he can still land blows on all the party members, who can occasionally dodge lightning spells.
Sans: assuming these are the speed of actual lightning, that’d clock them in at speeds roughly around Mach 351.
Sheldon: but ultimately, it was their own hubris that got them where they are now, what was once a proud King who led armies, now a cursed shadow leading a ragtag group of zombies, cursed to walk the Earth until ultimately slain, hardly remembered by anyone despite their cruel actions.
Deadpool: bummer, but until then, Night Knight will be a monstrous foe who’ll take down any foe who comes their way.
*Hero is walking around the Cave To Yet Another World, when suddenly an encounter begins, and they and their part now faces Night Knight*
Knight Knight[]
Sans: you guys ever think about the fact that almost every Undertale analysis starts the same way?
Sheldon: in fairness, the war between humans and monsters affected every character in the game and is the reason they’re all underground, it’s kinda something that needs to be talked about.
Deadpool: well, can’t waist anymore time, story time kids.
Sheldon: long ago, humans and monsters lived side by side, but, fearing their potential, humans waged war with the monsters, upon their defeat, seven of the humans wizards created a barrier to trap the monsters under Mount Ebott, a barrier only breakable with the power of seven human souls.
Deadpool: eventually, the monsters built up their own civilisation, cities and towns, high tech was created to help sustain their environments, all thanks to their magic, a power source that allows the monster to create damn near anything, and it’s even the actual stuff.
Sans: yep, bones are appealing to dogs, fire magic has heated stuff up, and it’s been used to generate light, heck how do you think we made a bunch of the stuff you see in the underground.
Sheldon: eventually, hope descended down in the form of a human Child, Chara, who would be adopted into the Dreemurr family, until eventually, tragedy struck, and both Chara and Asriel died on the same day.
Deadpool: distraught, and wanting to ensure his people could get out, Asgore issued an order, any human who fell to the Underground was to be killed.
Sans: and eventually, we had obtained six of the human souls, and only one more was needed, and that came down in the form of the child, Frisk.
Sheldon: Frisk would venture through the Underground, encountering all sorts of monsters on their way, while making the choice to Kill or Spare them all, they travelled through all sorts of areas to get to the capital and meet Asgore, and eventually only had one place left, the core.
Deadpool: it was here that they’d finally meet their final opponent of the non boss fight variety, their name, Knight Knight.
Sans: Knight Knight seems to be in some form of the Royal Guard, the team run by Undyne tasked with protecting the Underground, she, Madjick and Astigmatism all hang out in the Core together, while we don’t really see them talk much, I think they’re friends.
Sheldon: and they may also be friends with Shyren, as she recognises their tune when hummed by Frisk.
Deadpool: as a monster, Knight Knight has a rather unique physiology, she can survive just fine in the core, which is filled with Ozone, and most Monsters have a much greater heat tolerance than us, casually living in Hotland, which is so hot it instantly evaporated a plastic cup filled with water.
Sans: we don’t exactly eat normal food either, we eat stuff made out of magic, which can even heal you.
Sheldon: speaking of health, we’ve been shown that monsters can survive a lot happening to their body so long as they still have health, Undyne has even pulled herself back together from what she described as being split into a million pieces upon regaining health.

It’s funny, isn’t it, the stuff our minds can come up with, the horrors it can make us see, it’s really good at making you question what’s going on.
“It doesn't always work like it's supposed to, some get stuck inside trying to come through.”
Is this real? Is there something truly supernatural going on? Or… or are we just drifting into insanity?
”what I am about to do has not been approved by the Vatican.”
