Toho vs Daei! Godzilla fought Mother Legion last time, but now he must face Irys! Can Godzilla do it?
Note: To even the odds, I will be sticking with base form Super Godzilla, or else Iris will be screwed from the start.
Interlude[]
Tabashi: Many tales have been told about monsters. We all should know this by now.
Angel: But today's combatants are not just monsters. They're MUTATED monsters! Who also happen to be rivals to the Guardian of the Universe, Gamera!
Tabashi: Godzilla, the King of the Monsters.
Angel: And Iris, the Tentacled Terror.
Tabashi: For this bout, we will only be examining base form Super Godzilla, since almost every other incarnation of Godzilla would mop the floor with poor Iris.
Angel: He's Tabashi and I'm Angel!
Tabashi: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who wins a Death Battle!
Godzilla[]
Tabashi: In a world where invading aliens threaten all life, the fate of the planet lies in the hands of two things. One, a small group of humans-
Angel: And two, the most famous Kaiju in history: Godzilla, the King of the Monsters. This version of the titular Titan stands 328 feet (100 meters) tall, and (if I had to guess) probably weighs 60,000 metric tons.
Tabashi: By controlling Godzilla via a transmitter on the Super X2, the humans led Godzilla through several cities, facing tanks, electrical towers, UFOs, and even other monsters. Those included King Ghidorah (and later Mecha-King Ghidorah), Super MechaGodzilla, Biollante, and even Battra.
Angel: Hey, when is Battra ever going to be in one of our Death Battles?
Tabashi: When the time is right.
Angel: Oh, okay. Anyways, after King Ghidorah was resurrected as Mecha-King Ghidorah, Godzilla (depending on the player's choice) collected three energy capsules marked "S" to go SUPER SAYAN!
(Tabashi smacks Angel upside the head)
Tabashi: Wrong character!
Angel: (rubs her head) Sorry. I meant, to enter Super Godzilla! However, since we're only using Godzilla's BASE form, the Super mode doesn't belong here.
Tabashi: Right. However, S—Godzilla's base form is still powerful in its own right, so let's run through the abilities and feats. In his base form, Godzilla was able to tank the monster Bagan's energy pod form exploding at point-blank range, which ended up destroying Tokyo (big surprise). A feat like that would require 2.3-5 Gigatons of TNT in energy!
Angel: In his base form, Godzilla has the usual stuff: tail swipe, claws, teeth, Atomic Breath, you know you know. Man, there's not much that's special about this version of Godzilla, is there?
Tabashi: Not really, no. I guess the fact that this version's in a video game was supposed to be enough.
Angel: Bummer. Anyways, Super Godzilla's (base form) feats include tanking Bagan's energy pod form exploding at point-blank range, and defeating King Ghidorah, Super MechaGodzilla, Biollante, and Battra. (And depending on the player's choice, Mecha-King Ghidorah.) Yeah, that's about it for his feats. Now, let's move on to Super G's weaknesses, because we all know that's where this is heading.
Tabashi: Well, actually, Super Godzilla doesn't really have any exploitable weaknesses.
Angel: Really? Awesome!
Tabashi: Well, except for the fact that Super G's base form is 2,000x weaker than his Super form.
Angel: Well, still, don't screw with Super Godzilla unless you want to get Super Punched into oblivion!
Iris[]
Tabashi: The year was 1999, when the King of the Monsters faced off against that constantly regenerating alien we need to feature on Death Battle sometime. Gamera's use of the Mana Canon to defeat Mother Legion had some... bad effects on the planet.
Angel: Yeah, it raised dozens upon dozens of egg clutches, which would end up hatching hundreds of thousands of Hyper Gyaos! And who could possibly stop these Shadows of Evil?
Tabashi: Godzilla, the—no wait, wrong script! (flips through the script) Gamera, the Guardian of the Universe! Gamera began going on a bloody quest, relentlessly hunting and killing several dozen Hyper Gyaos (at the cost of many human lives), but he's not the focus of today's analysis. His ultimate foe is. But first, let's go back to the beginning.
Angel: In the small village of Asuka, Nara, there was a family line by the name of Moribe that guarded a stone egg. According to their legends, the egg housed a demon by the name of "Ryuseicho". (But of course, that wasn't what was in there.) Apparently, there's also a stone of unknown origin that will keep the creature dormant as long as it's not moved.
Tabashi: Unfortunately, a young girl named Ayana Hirasaka (who was orphaned after her parents were killed during Gamera's fight with Gyaos in 1995) was dared to enter the cave in which the stone was kept, and moved it. Long story short, she ended up finding the egg, which hatched into the first of the three—formed Kaiju not everyone knows, but the ones who do love.
Angel: Enter Iris(/Irys), the Tentacled Terror. This guy stands 3 feet (1 meter) tall and 7 feet (2 meters) long in his first form, as well as 8 feet (2.5 meters) tall and 16 feet (5 meters) long in his second form. And for the grand prize, in his third (and final) form, Iris stands 325 feet (99 meters) tall, and has a tentacle length of 6,558 feet (1,999 meters, or 1.999 kilometres). On a side note, Iris can join his tentacles together to make wings, which have a wingspan of 656 feet (199.9 meters). In addition, Iris weighs 50 kilograms (110lbs, or 0.05 metric tons) in his first form, 300 kilograms (661lbs, or 0.3 metric tons) in his second form, and 199 metric tons in his third form.
Tabashi: ...This guy has too damn many stats. Anyways, after a while, Iris grew to his third form, and headed to Kyoto, where he was intercepted mid—flight by Gamera. But since those JSDF morons thought Gamera was their enemy, they shot at him instead of Iris, allowing the Tentacled Terror to continue on to Kyoto.
Angel: Gamera and Iris dueled savagely throughout the city, and Iris actually seemed to be winning until he tried to absorb Ayana for...reasons. Then, Ayana saw the error of her ways, prompting Gamera to get BEYOND pissed! He used the Lashing Claw to rip Ayana out of Iris' chest, and then (after both getting his forearm amputated and absorbing the Overboost Plasma Fireballs Iris had fired after absorbing GAMERA'S DNA) used his fiery falcon fist of fury to cause Iris to erupt into flames and explode. Then, to add insult to death, Gamera stomped on Iris' dead, smoking carcass.
Tabashi: But Iris was still the ultimate foe of the Gamera franchise for a damn good reason, so let's take a look at his abilities. The bioluminescent area in the center of his chest is called the Gene Snatcher, which can absorb targets for fusion. This was the thing he tried to absorb Ayana into. Iris also has his four long—as—hell tentacles, called Tentaclancers, that are tipped in sharpened, arrow—shaped tips which can be used for stabbing.
Angel: From these Tentaclancers, Iris can use the Anti—Plasma Field, where he simply swats projectiles away via the Tentaclancers. Also, he can drain the blood of other organisms to absorb their DNA, copying their abilities. This can also be done with those sick arm blades, called Spear Absorbers.
Tabashi: A technique I can only describe as "DNA Emulation". Oh, also, upon emulating Gamera's DNA, Iris could fire the Overboost Plasma (or simply Fake Plasma), which are just fake versions of Gamera's Plasma Fireballs. However, Iris won't be able to use that today. Anyways, Iris can (as we mentioned earlier) join his tentacles together, creating wings that can be used to casually fly at Mach 9 (6,905mph). By factoring in this speed as well as his 199—metric ton weight, we found Iris' Kinetic Energy to be around 227 tons of TNT.
Angel: Iris can open up the end of his Tentaclancers and fire the same Super Sonic Scalpel as the Gyaos can, except it's actually superior in power. Remember, the SSS fired by the Gyaos can reach 3,000,000 hertz at least, and easily tore through Gamera's flesh. Now let's try to calculate the power of Gyaos' SSS in the Heisei Trilogy, since we all know that's where this is heading.
Tabashi: With pleasure. Remember our little equation for last time, when we calculated the lowest low—end possibility for the power output of the Mana Canon? Well, guess what? That equation's comin' back with a vengeance! If you remember, the equation was F · H · B = C, where F=Plasma Fireball, H=High Plasma, B=Banishing/Vanishing Fist, and C=Mana Canon. Well, this time, the equation is F · H · 2 = B, since the fiery falcon fist is at least twice as strong as the Fireballs.
Angel: See, the Kaiju in the Gamera Trilogy possess Chromosomal Adaptation, which means they can adapt to become stronger over time. After staying up for 3 days STRAIGHT with absolutely NO sleep whatsoever, we came to the conclusion that Gamera himself gets twice as strong with each progressing film in the Trilogy.
Tabashi: Since Gamera survived that 129.3697 Megaton—1.03496 Gigaton Legion Flower exploding, this brings our equation to 258.7394 · 120% · 2 = B on the lower high—end and 2.06992 · 120% · 2 = B on the higher high—end. So we can get the highest possible output, we will be assuming this is not an overestimation of Gamera's power. Now, the TL;DR of all of it is this: 620.97456 Megatons—4.967808 Gigatons (or 621 Megatons—5 Gigatons) of TNT.
Angel: Damn, that's a lot of firepower! Too bad that's the highest possible output! Just out of curiosity, though, what would Gamera's power be in the first movie?
Tabashi: At most, 77.62182—620.976 (or 78—621) Megatons of TNT. And that's if we're including the High Plasma.
Angel: Oh. Back on track, though, Iris' Super Sonic Scalpels can, thanks to having four Tentaclancers, can be fired in four different directions at once. Also, they might be the most powerful weapon in the Gamera Trilogy, since they not only pierced Gamera's flesh, but his shell, too. Iris also has a tough carapace on his back that is very similar to Gamera's, as it can protect him (and seemingly almost every other spot of his body) from most attacks.
Tabashi: Speaking of durability, let's talk about Iris' feats, which are actually more numerous than you may think. Iris has fought gamera twice, won the first time, and almost won the second time. Also, apparently the two Titans dueled for hours the second time, so Iris has very high stamina. His Super Sonic Scalpels were able to tear through Gamera's flesh and shell, and by that point he'd adapted to completely resist a direct strike from Hyper Gyaos' Hyper Sonic Scalpel. And Hyper Gyaos is the ultimate form of the Gyaos (NOT Super Gyaos, contrary to popular belief)!
Angel: But as powerful as he is, Iris still has some weaknesses...which are...actually, what the hell ARE Iris' weaknesses!?
Tabashi: Well, it hasn't been explicitly stated what Iris' weaknesses are. At first glance, it seems that Iris doesn't have any weaknesses.
Angel: However, we didn't give up so easily! Upon deeper investigation, we found three major weaknesses. First, the Gene Snatcher seems to be the only spot on Iris' body that's vulnerable compared to the rest of it. This was shown when Gamera successfully used a Lashing Claw to take Ayana out of the Gene Snatcher.
Tabashi: Second, Iris' Tentaclancers (well, the tentacles themselves, anyway) seem to be able to be cut off rather easily. Third (and perhaps the worst weakness of all), Iris does NOT have any regeneration.
Angel: Don't confuse adaptation with regeneration, people!
Tabashi: And finally, his second—biggest weakness. Iris, once he enacts the DNA Emulation technique and gets stronger, seems to gain an unquenchable lust for more, as he tried to grow stronger by absorbing more energy via fusing with Ayana. Other than that, not much else can be inferred about Iris' weaknesses.
Angel: But even if you were frickin' Gigan, I'd beware the ultimate foe of the Gamera Trilogy that is the Tentacled Terror, Iris!
Death Battle![]
Tabashi: All righty then. The combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities. Let's end this debate once and for all.
Angel: It's time for a Death Battle!
Pre-Fight[]
Asuka, Nara
In the dead of night, in the forest surrounding the small village, the Teen, Deadpool, and The Mask were walking around, trying to find the cave housing Iris.
Teen: See anything?
Mask: Not a damn trace.
Teen: I know he's around here somewhere! And we need to hurry, since Godzilla should be arriving soon!
Suddenly, as if on Que, the ground started shaking. Then, it seemingly EXPLODED as an enormous Kaiju emerged from the ground. It was 325 feet tall, humanoid-like in appearance, and had four nearly 2 kilometre—long tentacles. This was Iris, the Tentacled Terror, and he was PISSED at having his sleep disrupted.
Deadpool: Well, I think I found him!
Teen: (Rolls his eyes) How observant of you! Now let's start running!
The trio turned around and started running for their lives, but they abruptly stopped when a loud STOMP! shook the village. Then a familiar roar was heard, and the figure was revealed to be Super Godzilla... in his base form. Godzilla eyed Iris with his... uh, Iris, sensing the extreme hatred and anger towards one thing, and one thing only: humans, the very things he tries to protect. Well, all except for the trio, that is.
Angel: Que the flashback!
Godzilla was in Sendai, just about to collect the last "S" Capsule he needed to turn into Super Godzilla, when three very annoying humans got the bright idea to shoot him in the face with a grenade launcher. Godzilla, pissed that the humans STILL haven't learned he's immune to their primitive weapons, decided to try to teach the trio a lesson. Thus, he chased them (or, more accurately, followed their trail) all the way to this small village.
Godzilla roared in challenge at Iris, who, upon gazing at the King of the Monsters, hovered his tentacles menacingly (opening up the tips on each one) and roared back, signifying the start of a glorious conclusion battle.
Godzilla moved first, but because of his superior speed, Iris was the first to attack. Iris shot out four of his Super Sonic Scalpels, each hitting Godzilla in the left shoulder, right side of the waist, top of the head, and... uh... the bottom of his tail. Godzilla roared in pain, and retaliated with a stream of Atomic Breath, which hit Iris in the stomach. To Godzilla's complete surprise, though, the Tentacled Terror doesn't flinch. Instead, he joins his tentacles together, creating a beautiful pair of wings.
Teen: That actually is the most damn beautiful pair of wings I've ever seen.
Godzilla, realizing his disadvantage, fired some Atomic Breath at Iris. However, Iris easily blitzed the blast, and zoomed behind Godzilla, reforming his Tentaclancers. Iris, quicker than quick, impaled Godzilla's back with all four tentacles, and started the DNA Emulation. Godzilla roared in pain and turned around to deliver a powerful swipe right to Iris' Gene Snatcher. Iris roared in pain, getting his tentacles all the way off Godzilla's back in the process, but it was too late.
Iris then used an Atomic Overboost, hitting Godzilla square in the chest. Godzilla is pushed back slightly, but he absorbs most of the energy back, empowering him. Godzilla then notices something glowing a golden—yellow in some bushes. Godzilla knew it was a Yellow Orb, so he instinctively went for it. Godzilla stomped on the Yellow Orb, and his energy completely refilled.
Godzilla then let out a blast of Atomic Breath, with Iris countering with an Atomic Overboost made from two of his tentacles. The two beams collided, and it seemed evenly matched. Well, it was, that is, until Iris started to run low on Godzilla's DNA energy. Iris knew he had to do something, so he used his other two tentacles to fire the Super Sonic Scalpels, which promptly replaced the Atomic Overboost. Iris, thinking quickly, used the first two Tentaclancers to try to stab Godzilla in the chest. This time, though, Godzilla was ready for that, and grabbed the Tentaclancers in each of his hands.
Godzilla then stopped the volley of Atomic Breath, and Iris stopped his Super Sonic Scalpels. Godzilla then chomped his teeth on one of the Tentaclancers, breaking off the arrowhead—like tip. Godzilla then charged up his Atomic Breath, and blasted the other Tentaclancer, reducing the arrowhead tip to ash and leaving a bloody stump. Iris WAILED in pain, and then his hatred grew to a nigh—immeasurable degree. Iris, in this moment, wanted to end this creature. No, he wanted to TEAR IT APART, PIECE BY PIECE.
Godzilla's fighting spirit had also grown to a nigh—immeasurable degree, but that was due to the fact that he had stomped on a Red Orb. Godzilla and Iris, their strength now definitely at the maximum, charged each other, colliding with a force powerful enough to level the forest around them. Godzilla's superior strength won out, though, and he used this to claw at the Gene Snatcher, remembering when he had done that earlier. Iris winced in pain, but he wasn't going to back down so easily this time, and pecked(?) Godzilla in the face with his facial tip. Then, Iris rooted Godzilla to the spot by stabbing the King of the Monsters in both of the legs with both of his Spear Absorbers!
Godzilla screamed in pain as Iris started draining all of Godzilla's energy. However, Godzilla noticed a small, green—glowing object a few hundred feet away. Godzilla knew what he had to do in order to get the Green Orb, but he didn't know if he could do it. But then, Godzilla realized something that day: If he kills me, he could destroy the planet alongside Destoroyah and King Ghidorah! I need to stop him, no matter what!
Thus, Godzilla grabbed the Spear Absorbers (one in each hand), and pulled them out of his legs. Godzilla growled in fierce pain, forcing himself to stay awake as the gaping holes in his hamstrings started to regenerate, much to Iris' complete and utter shock.
Godzilla, now recovered enough to move, heads towards the Green Orb, and stomps on it. Godzilla began to glow green, and became invincible. Iris tried to blast Godzilla with another Atomic Overboost, but it did nothing to the King of the Monsters now. Godzilla then charged Iris, and the Tentacled Terror could do nothing as Godzilla clamped his jaws on Iris’s throat, charged up, and fired the most powerful stream of Atomic Breath he could muster. Iris screamed, then gurgled as the Atomic Breath pierced his throat, and blew a hole clean through it, decapitating Iris.
As Iris' headless corpse (along with the head itself) dropped to the ground, Godzilla roared in victory. Tired of the long journey, as well as the ensuing fight, the King of the Monsters decided to let the trio live, hoping they had learned from their mistakes. I think I'll rest near Asia, Godzilla thought to himself. Mothra told me it's got great oceans this time of year.
Meanwhile, the very same trio that brought Godzilla here was looking on at the remnants of the cave in which Iris was sleeping under.
Teen: You know what's always struck me as funny, guys?
Deadpool: No, what?
Teen: Most of the Gamera Kaiju are two things: extraterrestrial in origin with absolutely NO backstory, or terrestrial in origin with the absolute LONGEST backstory ever!
The Mask: Really? Why could that be?
Teen: You're asking ME?
The Mask: Yeah, sorry about that. Anyways, where's the next stop on our Death Battle list?
The Teen then pulls out a packet, which (on the top page ALONE) is filled with dozens upon dozens of future Death Battles, Battle Royales, team-oriented fights, and other matches. The Teen then crosses off "Godzilla vs. Gyaos", "Godzilla vs. Legion", and "Godzilla vs. Iris". However, since the list was created in a chronological order of sorts, many of the potential future fights that the Teen had in mind all seemed to feature either Gyaos, Mother Legion, or Iris. I need to switch it up a bit, the Teen thought to himself. Otherwise, they'll go stir-crazy!
Teen: Well, if I'm reading this thing right, (he places his finger on a random Death Battle) then we should be heading over to the Mu continent right now, in order to snatch a certain statue.
Deadpool: What's it called?
Teen: The Devil's Whistle.
Results[]
Angel: Mother F@$K!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! But why does it seem that all Godzilla does for a finisher is decapitate his foes with his Atomic Breath?
Tabashi: I don’t know, I guess it’s just a good method of brutally massacring your foe.
Angel: Oh. I think that makes sense.
Tabashi: Anyways, I'm sorry to all you Kadokawans*. I know you wanted Iris to win, and he DOES need one, but this just wasn't it.
Angel: But that's not to say that this fight wasn't close. No sir! This one is right up there with Ultraman Taro vs. Burning Godzila as our closest match—up to date.
Tabashi: Indeed it was. Are you interested? All righty then, let's dive into the pool of knowledge! So, you might be surprised to know that the King of the Monsters and the Tentacled Terror were actually pretty equal in a few categories. But first, let's talk about their advantages.
Angel: Iris quite obviously had the range advantage with his Tentaclancers, and adding in his Super Sonic Scalpels, he has the advantage in ranged attacks and being able to attack from a distance. Also, he was (at the very least) about 1.8x faster than Godzilla, since Iris can casually fly at Mach 9, while Godzilla can only react to beings that can (at most) fly at Mach 5. In fact, it's not that outlandish to say that if Iris managed to have a non—melee fight, keeping his distance and blitzing Godzilla and his attacks, the Tentacled Terror could've pulled off a win. Iris also has versatility o his side, too, but we'll get to that in a bit.
Tabashi: However, it's much more likely that Godzilla would go for melee combat at some point in time, so that was out. And Godzilla held some of his own advantages as well. Like strength! Earlier on, I estimated Godzilla's weight to be 60,000 metric tons, so let's just say his lifting strength is equal to his own weight. Now, to calculate Iris' strength, that's another story. In order to find Iris's lifting strength, we figured that we could scale him to Gamera, since they fought each other twice for hours on end.
Angel: In Gamera 2: Attack of Legion, Gamera was shown pushing over/uprooting the Legion Flower, which was said to weigh 3,000 metric tons. If we're going by the formula that Gamera did, in fact, get twice as strong with each progressing film in the trilogy, that means that in Gamera: Guardian of the Universe, he was able to lift 1,500 metric tons. And in Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris, Gamera could be able to lift 6,000 metric tons. And since Iris fought Gamera twice, the Tentacled Terror should be able to lift the same amount.
Tabashi: It still wasn't enough to match Godzilla, though, so the King of the Monsters took strength by exactly 10 miles. Godzilla also had stamina and experience in the bag, too. See, while it is true that Iris fought Gamera twice, the second time going on for hours, that puts Iris' stamina at Very High at best. But that simply PALES in comparison to Godzilla's stamina, since he fought 4—5 monsters for at least the same amount of time. And because Godzilla's fought multiple different Kaiju, that means he has experience, because all Iris did was fight Gamera twice.
Angel: And yes, you COULD argue that Iris is around 125,000x older than Godzilla (since Super Godzilla's said to be at least 2,000 years old, while Iris was created before Gamera was, which would place him at over 250,000,000 years old), but Iris spent most (if not all) of that time sleeping, while Godzilla probably was switching between sleeping underwater and kickin' Kaiju ass. So Godzilla has strength, stamina, and experience, but Iris has speed and range.
Tabashi: Yup, and they were equal in destructive capacity and durability, since both were (at their absolute best, anyway) able to attack with around 5 Gigatons of TNT, as well as survive it. But we haven't covered these two's trump card advantages yet.
Angel: But wait, Tabashi! You're forgetting about Iris' biggest weakness, the Gene Snatcher! Couldn't Godzilla just blast the Gene Snatcher with his Atomic Breath enough times to kill Iris?
Tabashi: Well, in one case, it is entirely possible, since the Gene Snatcher is indeed Iris' only weak point. However, the Gene Snatcher wasn't what ultimately killed Iris. His lust for more power as a result of emulating Gamera's DNA.
Angel: Okay, so let me get this straight: Godzilla has strength, stamina, and experience.
Tabashi: Correct.
Angel: And Iris has speed, range, and versatility. Also, his only exploitable weakness couldn't exactly be, you know, EXPLOITED!
Tabashi: That's right.
Angel: But they were both equal in terms of destructive capacity and durability.
Tabashi: Indeed they were.
Angel: Then how the hell did this not end in a draw? I mean, we've gotta have a battle that ends in a draw SOMETIME, you know! Seriously, did EITHER ONE have a way of killing the other!?
Tabashi: Well, honestly, out of 100 scenarios, this would probably have been 34 for Godzilla, 33 for Iris, and 33 for a draw. But there's one thing that we haven't talked about yet: their primary trump cards.See, with so many different counters for each other's attacks, this whole match boiled down to their arsenals.
Angel: See, at first glance, they counter each other. Godzilla's Atomic Breath would be able to counter Iris' Super Sonic Scalpels. However, Iris had a trump card that could end the King of the Monsters. Something we've been dancing around for a while now. I'm talking about his DNA Emulation.
Tabashi: Remember how Iris stabbed Gamera with both the Spear Absorbers and Tentaclancers, allowing him to absorb and copy Gamera's DNA and create the Overboost Plasma? Well, it's not wrong to say that the Tentacled Terror could use his superior range to stab Godzilla with his Tentaclancers (or the Spear Absorbers on the occasion that Godzilla came in for melee combat), drai/absorb Godzilla's DNA energy, and copy it, creating the Atomic Overboost, a fake Atomic Breath that (when combined with his own Super Sonic Scalpels) could actually kill Godzilla.
Angel: Turning the King of the Monsters' greatest attack into his worst nightmare. However, there were several problems with that. First off, Godzilla ain't getting stabbed by those Tentaclancers easily, and even then, there's no way he'd let them stay in there (long enough for Iris to drain enough energy to have the vast supply required to prolong the battle and kill Godzilla) without a fight!
Tabashi: Second off, the Tentaclancers are vulnerable to getting cut off easily, so Godzilla could just pull them out of himself, and either break them in his bare hands or just straight—up incinerate them via the trusty Atomic Breath.
Angel: So let's see here. Iris has the Tentaclancers, the Super Sonic Scalpels, the Spear Absorbers, DNA Emulation, and flight. Godzilla, in contrast, has… the Atomic Breath, the Tail Swipe, Tooth & Claw, and being the King of the Monsters. Yeah, Iris should've had this one.
Tabashi: Except for one thing. Iris did not have a versatile arsenal that boosts his stats. Godzilla, however, does.
Angel: What do you mean? Iris has versatility with his DNA Emulation!
Tabashi: Yes, I know that, but let me explain it. See, the problem with Iris' DNA Emulation is that the amount of versatility he gains is determined by how many abilities the creature whose DNA Iris is emulating has. Take for example, Iris emulating Destoroyah's DNA. Or hell, even (a composite) King Ghidorah's. Iris would gain an absolute shitload of abilities, because those two have so many different abilities at their disposal. But in this case, when Iris absorbed Godzilla's DNA, all he'd get would be the Atomic Overboost. So his versatility in this fight was limited.
Angel: But Godzilla's arsenal wasn't?
Tabashi: Nope! Well, not in the same way Iris' was. Do you recall those differently colored orbs? The ones that kept on popping up during the fight?
Angel: Oh yeah, those. They were in the last fight we had Super feature in. What about them?
Tabashi: Well, they boost his stats a bit. There's the Green, Blue, Yellow, and Red Orbs, as well as the Capsules and "S" Capsules. The Red Orb boosts Godzilla's fighting spirit so he can utilize better attacks.
Angel: Oh, so basically, the madder (or in this case, more determined) he is, the stronger he gets?
Tabashi: Pretty much. Anyways, the Blue and Yellow Orbs are similar in terms of what they do, which is refilling Godzilla's energy. That's right, like Shin Godzilla, Super Godzilla has an energy limit! The only difference between the two Orbs is that the Blue one only refills Godzilla's health a little bit, while the Yellow Orb COMPLETELY refills it.
Angel: Damn, that Yellow Orb must be handy to have in a pinch!
Tabashi: I reckon so. Also, the Capsule will refill Godzilla's health slightly (yes, there's a major difference between health and energy), and as we all know, the "S" Capsules will, after collecting three, transform Godzilla into Super Godzilla.
Angel: Huh. Why is there a difference between health and energy, though?
Tabashi: I don't know!
Angel: Fair enough!**
Green Orb is a really important one, one that turned the tide of battle in Godzilla's favor. Any guesses as to what it does?
Angel: Uh, it turns him into a Hyper form of himself?
Tabashi: Close, but no cigar. It actually makes him what is, for all intents and purposes, complete invulnerability.
Angel: Oh. Well, I was pretty close!
Tabashi: You were indeed. So yeah, Iris wouldn't be able to hurt, much less kill, Godzilla for a certain period of time, while Godzilla still could kill Iris. Oh, and in addition to his versatility, Godzilla had the recovery advantage, too. See, Iris did NOT have a healing factor (as far as we know), so he couldn't really regenerate any lost Tentaclancers or bruises inflicted on him by melee combat, while all Godzilla needed to do was step on a capsule, and he was healed.
Angel: And one last note, keep in mind that we tried to find an incarnation of Godzilla that was seemingly made to fight powerful characters like Iris. That's what we've been trying to do this entire time. We wanted to pick an incarnation of Godzilla that was roughly equal in terms of destructive capacity and durability, and in the process, we usually end up finding out that it was either about as close as it's gonna get, or just a big—ass stomp in one of side's favor.
Tabashi: That's why we pit the Original Godzilla against the Showa Gyaos, and the Godzilla vs Megaguirus Godzilla against Mother Legion without her Legion Flower. It was because literally almost every other incarnation of Godzilla would either get their ass whooped, or easily stomp them into the ground.
Angel: Say, I've been wondering, why didn't we use this version of Godzilla against Legion with her Soldiers?
Tabashi: Um… because I didn't think of it at the time? I don't know, I guess the GxM incarnation seemed like it would be the perfect match. In hindsight, though, maybe we should've used base form Super Godzilla against Mother with her Soldiers and Flower. Maybe we'll have to remaster that someday....
Angel: Oh well. Hindsight is 2020, after all!
Tabashi: Yeah, you're right. Anyways, in conclusion to this, Iris had the speed, range, and a weak point that couldn't really be exploited.
Angel: They both had the destructive capacity, durability, and ways to successfully kill each other!
Tabashi: And Godzilla had the strength, stamina, experience, versatility, and arsenal to pull off the win just BARELY more times than not.
Angel: I guess in the end, Iris just choked up, and he lost his chance at victory.
Tabashi: The winner is Base form Super Godzilla. Happy Anniversary, Big G!
Next Time, Baby![]
Tabashi: Next time on Death Battle!
On the continent of Mu (specifically, Wester Island), the Teen, Deadpool, an The Mask were searching for the Devil's Whistle statue.
Teen: AHA! Found it!
The other two climbed up the rock-slide rubble to where the Teen was, and surrounded the statue.
Teen: Now, once we take this thing, Jiger's gonna be coming up from the ground, so we gotta run like hell, got it?
Deadpool: Understo—
The Mask: OOOH, SHINY!
With that, The Mask swiped the statue, and two seconds later, the ground started to rumble. The trio struggled to maintain their footing, as Jiger suddenly EXPLODED out of the ground!
Teen: Mask, when we get out of this, I'm going to kill you!
The Mask: What? It was shiny!
Teen: Oh, you're lucky I planned for this!
The trio then began running, with Jiger in hot pursuit. She chased them all the way to a cliff side, the bottom marked with a little lagoon (which led to the ocean), where it seemed that they were done for. But then, the Teen shouted a name, or rather, an ALIAS, of a Kaiju that could be able to defeat Jiger.
Teen: BARADAGI, HELP US!!!!
As if on Que, something suddenly glided over Jiger, moving too fast to see (but the Teen knew what it was). The Kaiju landed near the cilffside, creating a bit of a wave. When the creature stood up, it towered over the cliff side, as well as Jiger herself. The figure was revealed to be none other than Varan, the Unbelievable.
Varan roared at Jiger, telling her to leave, for this was now his territory. Jiger just looked at him curiously, unsure of what the new creature meant. She did, however, know that he looked like the perfect host/parent for her child. Jiger finally roared back, and the trio backed away.
Jiger vs. Varan! Check it out now!
Trivia[]
- The connection between Godzilla and Iris is that they're both mutated versions of other monsters. Godzilla is a mutated Godzillasaurus, while Iris is (possibly) either a mutated Gyaos, or the ultimate evolution of the Gyaos species.
- *"Kadokawans" refers to people that are fans of Daei/Kadokawa, or just the Gamera franchise alone.
- **The previous three lines of dialogue is a direct reference to the YouTube channel ScreenRant, and their show, Pitch Meeting.
