Description[]
Street Fighter vs The King of Fighters. Sometimes, the plot of fighting games goes beyond mere tournaments and moves to the supernatural. Will Gill be able to defeat Gaia's will, or will Orochi end the leader of the Secret Society?
Interlude[]
(Cue Wiz and Boomstick)
Wiz: Fighting games have been a source of entertainment for arcade goers and console players since the 90s.
Boomstick: I mean, there were fighting games before then, but we don't talk about those. And usually, at the end, you fight the leader of a drug cartel or something that for some reason is stronger than dozens of trained martial artists at the same time.
Wiz: But sometimes they drift into more, supernatural foes. Orochi, the servant of Gaia.
Boomstick: And Gill, the messiah of the Secret Society. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And together it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to see who would win a Death Battle.
Gill scars DEATH BATTLE's DNA[]
(Cue Nile (SFV))
Wiz: The Secret Society. Loosely based on real-life conspiracies of the Illuminati, it intends on preparing humanity for the alleged upcoming apocalypse. For their leadership, they choose only the strongest.
Boomstick: Yeah, you need really good jeans or something. I honestly didn't know denim made you so powerful.
Wiz: Genes. The Secret Society focuses on genetic modification, intending on making the strongest human beings, and having them being the ones to repopulate the world after the aforementioned apocalypse. Enter Gill. Surpassing hundreds, including his younger brother Urien, to become president of the society.
(Cut music)
Boomstick: Wait, Urien? Like, the scientific word for pi-
Wiz: No.
(Cue The Judgement Day)
Wiz: Urien challenged Gill for his position. Urien won, only for Gill to get promoted to emperor of the society.
Boomstick: Wait, so that's how that works? Alright then! Wiz, kick my ass!
Wiz: No. That's now how it works.
Boomstick: Strike me down and I'll become more powerful than you can possibly imag-
Wiz punches Boomstick in the face, knocking him out.
Wiz: Why are fighting game stories like this?
Boomstick: Well, so much for my promotion...
(Cue Psych Out)
Wiz: Gill can use both Pyrokinesis and Cryrokinesis. He uses this to enhance his martial arts techniques. These include the Cyber Lariat, Moonsault Knee and Psycho Headbutt. Gill can also cause Pyrokinesis and Cryrokinesis to rain from the sky with his Meteor Strike, and do this to a lesser extent with divine comets.
Boomstick: Gill's strongest attack is Serephic wing, where he grows wings and uses a bullshit fullscreen attack that deals like a quarter of your health even when blocked.
Wiz: But, Gill's most useful technique isn't an attack at all. The infamous...
Gill: Resurrection!
Wiz: This lets Gill come back from knockout or death at full strength. Once, it even let him come back from Akuma's Raging Demon, a move that destroys it's victim's soul.
Note: While Ryu's Raging Demon destroyed Gill's soul in the UDON comics, this is directly contradicted by the games and as such isn't considered, not to mention UDON's constant contradictions many in other ways
Boomstick: Gill's defeated master martial artists, superhumans, and even the president of the universe, G! Whatever that means!
Wiz: He's fought against Alex, who's fought Ryu. Ryu's power was used to power the Psycho Drive Satellite cannon, which destroyed this city. Assuming the city is similar in size to Hong Kong, this explosion would yield over 22 megatons of TNT. Regardless of the opposition, Gill will do what he believe to be necessary for humanity.
Gill: When the time of the prophecy comes, when all is revealed, then the people of the world will rejoice, already knowing who I am.
Orochi returns DEATH BATTLE to nothing[]
(Cue The Origin of Mind)
Wiz: Over 1,800 years ago, a being born of Gaia decided that mankind was killing the earth. To counter this, this being created a clan, appointing it's eight strongest members as the Hakkesshu. This being was known as Orochi. Declaring war on mankind, it's rampage was only stopped by three clans. The Kusanagi, the Yata and the Yasakani. The three heads of the clans sealed away Orochi.
Boomstick: Several generations, surname changes, and the entirity of Samurai Shodown later, and we reach now.
Wiz: The 1996 King of Fighters tournament, featuring fighters from all over the world and organized by Chizuru Kagura, the heir to the Yata clan, to unite the other two heirs: Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami.
Boomstick: But, due to the Orochi clan killing the heir of the Yasakanis and blaming it on the Kusanagis, Kyo and Iori kind of hated each other.
Wiz: After defeating Goenitz, a member of the Orochi Clan who had come to kill all three heirs at once, the three sacred treasures went their separate ways. Then, in the 1997 edition of the tournament, three more members of the clan arose: Chris, Shermie and Yashiro. Together, they gained the fighting energy required to ressurect their master.
(Cue Butterfly Emerges from Chrysalis)
Boomstick: Members of the Orochi Clan come in eight flavors. Wind, Earth, Lightning, Fire, Light, Darkness, Death and Water. Being the origin of all of these powers, Orochi can use all of 'em!
Note: Not all of these names should be taken at face value. While Wind, Earth, Lightning and Fire are literal elements certain members of the Orochi Clan can use; Light and Darkness have much more limited application. Death and Water, meanwhile, more so describe the user's fighting style.
Wiz: Orochi's favorites to use out of these are Light and Fire. However, these aren't Orochi's only abilities. They can freely read minds, teleport at will, use telepathy and telekinesis, bring enemies to a different dimension, not to mention a variety of special moves.
Note: Most of Orochi's special moves have two names. To avoid confusion, only one of these two names are used.
Wiz: There's Cancellation, a multi-hitting projectile; Exposed Worship, a small barrier of energy on Orochi's hand that knocks away enemies; Ascertain, where Orochi absorbs a projectile and shoots back a blue ball of fire; Fire Orchid Descent,a pillar of blue fire that Orochi summons from the ground.
Boomstick: He can also rip off Rugal's Genocide Cutter with Covenant. There's also Rounding Reaper, which fills the entire screen with light; and Great God, which brings enemies closer so Orochi can rip out their SOOOOUL! Or whatever that orb thing is. Whoever he attacks is fine after, so probably not that.
Wiz: Orochi also should have any of the powers of the Hakkishu due to being the source of their powers. This would include characters like Mature and Vice being able to physically interact with the world as spirits even after dying, or three of Orochi's heavenly kings being able to separate their mind and body to duplicate themselves.
Note: The latter ability should be taken with a grain of salt, as it comes from a specific arcade mode story in KOF '97 which is a what-if scenario at best.
Wiz: While Orochi doesn't have many direct fights since most of the King of Fighters is various people trying to resurrect it, it's position helps gauge it's power. It's place as Gaia's will should place it above Nakoruru, who was able to fight against Amakusa, who destroyed ancient Nagasaki.
Note: Nakoruru helped defeat Amakusa long before being described as "One with Gaia", something Orochi describes itself as. This and Nakoruru's appearance in KOF XIV support this scaling.
Boomstick: Orochi should also be stronger than people like Bao, Takuma and Chang, who absorbed, deflected and survived NEST's Zero Cannon respectively.
Wiz: Judging by the destruction it shows, it should be at the level of five megatons. That's over 238 times stronger than the bomb that landed on Hiroshima. Regardless of the foe, Orochi will destroy any he precises as a threat to Gaia.
Orochi: Oh wretched child, sacrificed to humans' wrongdoing... It is pointless. I am indestructible.
Kula: Kula never gives up! Never! Not until I've rescued everyone!
Orochi: Why do you struggle? You know that the path you have chosen only leads to pain and suffering.
Kula: I want my friends back. Seirah. She's always nice. Maxima's a bit gruff, but he's brainy. And K' is rough, but he always looks after me.
Orochi: The human invention is a better reflection of the human heart than humans themselves...
Kula: Aargh! Wh-What was that!?
Orochi: I wonder child... The next time I awake. will such benevolent beings as yourself exist?
Pre-Fight[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities.
Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!
In a field, many hooded figures in green surrounded two people. Gill, the leader of the Secret Society, and his secretary Kolin. Suddenly, one of the hooded figures erupted into a pillar of blue flame. The others quickly looked for the attacker, until suddenly a massive white light filled the sky. Gill burned away the brown cloak he was wearing before throwing away Kolin, taking the attack in her place. All of the green figures were vaporized. Suddenly, a white haired man phased onto the scene. They levitated in the air and had a marking on their chest. It was Orochi.
Orochi: Get up, messiah of the Secret Society. We have business.
Gill levitated into the air, using Resurrection, before standing straight. Gill gave Kolin a quick look. She quickly bowed to her leader before leaving.
Gill: What is it you want?
Orochi: Your group directly violates Gaia's will. You say you wish to save mankind from the apocolypse. Mankind is a cancer, parasites on the mother earth. If I do not kill them, many species will endure untold suffering. Too many already have.
Gill: Mankind will survive. I care little of what you think, servant of Gaia. Mankind has earned their place in the world, through millions of years of evolution. Of this evolution, I am the pinnacle.
Orochi: The heracy of man never ceases to amaze. Very well then. You believe yourself to be the pinnacle of man? Very well, leader of the Secret Society. Face Gaia's will!
FIGHT![]
(Cue Existance Collapses)
Gill shot out Pyrokinesis. Orochi absorbed the ball and shot it back with Ascertain. Gill responded by shooting another orb of fire, the two projectiles clashing. Orochi then quickly teleported behind Gill before kicking him upwards with Covenant and sending Gill away with Exposed Worship. Gill quickly recovered in mid-air and jumped towards Orochi, headbutting him. Gill then unleashed a strong punch with his left side, freezing Orochi in place.
Gill: Welcome to your death.
Gill summoned orbs of fire and ice fall from the sky, hitting Orochi several times before Gill knocked him away with a Cyber Lariat from his right. However, before Gill could even react, Orochi had teleported behind him.
Orochi: Life is fleeting...
Orochi used Great God, grabbing a purple orb out of Gill before crushing it, sending Gill flying away. Both faced one another for a moment, before beginning to use another attack. Orochi crossed it's arms above itself, while Gill levitated into the air.
Orochi: Now... return to nothing!
Gill: Let me be the blesser of all souls!
Gill grew six angel wings, firing several beams of light. Orochi, meanwhile, caused a bright light to fill the area. The two supers clashed for a few seconds, before Seraphic Wing won out.
(Cut Music)
When the light cleared, there was no sign of Orochi. Gill put a hand to his chest, before putting his hands to the sky.
Gill: I am your god!
(Cue Dream) Gill was suddenly hit in the back by Cancellation. Orochi revealed itself.
Orochi: Ignorant mortal! Why struggle against me?
Gill turned to face the god. Orochi's eyes narrowed, until suddenly everything went black.
(Cut Music)
The only thing visible in the void was Gill.
Gill: Where have you taken me, servant of Gaia?
Orochi: This is... nowhere.
Orochi suddenly appeared behind Gill, punching through his chest. Gill fell to the ground as Orochi dissipated, before levitating into the air.
Gill: Resurrection!
Gill still had the hole in his chest, though it had stopped bleeding.
Gill: Foolish. My mercy is coming to an end.
(Cue Vs Dicator and Juri)
Orochi teleported behind Gill once more, but his attack was parried before Gill grabbed him and slammed him into the ground before he disappeared. A cancellation was sent Gill's way, but it was also parried before Gill dashed at Orochi with a cyber lariat, freezing him once more. Suddenly, a second Orochi appeared behind Gill, only for Gill to turn around and headbutt the god, before unleashing a string of hits, until Gill froze Orochi in place. Gill then levatated into the air, growing six angel wings.
Gill: It's is god's will! Time to return to harmony!
Suddenly, Gill was hit with a pillar of blue fire, knocking him out of the attack.
Orochi: Enough.
Orochi teleported in front of Gill, jabbing him in the chest once more.
Orochi: You are no god. Allow me to give you a taste of the power you claim to have.
Orochi stabbed a shallow wound in itself, before stabbing the same hand into Gill. Orochi quickly regenerated from the damage.
Orochi: This is my power. The blood of Orochi. See if you can take it, insignificant mortal!
Gill stood up and punched Orochi in the face, before then using Pyrokinesis to knock him away.
Gill: This power, is... is...
Gill began glowing.
Gill: No, impossible!
A pillar of light appeared around Gill.
Gill: IMPOSSIBLE!
The light vaporized completely Gill. Orochi turned to the camera.
(Cut Music)
Orochi: I return to my sleep. For now, the dimensions bend. For ten, a hundred years, you have a chance. I look forward to it.
Results[]
K.O.!
(Cue Re:Bloody)
Boomstick: What exactly... happened there? My head hurts...
Wiz: Orochi and Gill were even in power. Both scale to city destroying feats. While the Psycho Drive Satellite is four times stronger than the Zero Cannon, it should be noted that Orochi is considered so above the characters who scale to the Zero Cannon that the only way to defeat him in-universe is sealing him. Meanwhile, despite his godly presence, Gill's never been depicted as all that stronger than characters on Ryu's level.
Boomstick: Yeah. He canonically lost to Alex, and was defeated instantly by base Akuma, albeit when he was using the Raging Demon.
Wiz: However, speed is when this even match starts to become much less even. Gill can scale to Ryu, who's able to fight against Bison, who can react to the Psycho Drive Satellite's beam. Judging by the amount of time it takes to reach the earth, the beam would be travelling at over Mach 5,500. Impressive, right?
Boomstick: And you'd expect Orochi to scale to the satellite laser as well, right? WRONG!
Wiz: Orochi's Rounding Reaper can most likely be considered to be actual light. The Three Sacred Treasures are able to block the move. In this clip, we can clearly see that Iori reacts to the attack after the light appears. Comparing Iori's speed to the light, and his reactions come up at about 24% the speed of light, or about Mach 213,685. This puts Orochi at almost forty times faster.
Boomstick: Their abilities weigh in Orochi's favor, too. While Gill was the better close quarters combatant, Orochi had teleportation to keep the fight long ranged. And while Gill had plenty of long ranged options, Orochi could just reflect them. Not to mention, Orochi's mind reading let it keep control of the fight.
Wiz: Not to mention, there's no evidence that Gill can resurrect indefinitely. In gameplay, he can only do it once per match, and can't use any of his other super arts, implying it might drain his stamina to use.
Note: For the sake of entertainment, this and the amount of time it would take for Orochi to come back were ignored in the fight.
Wiz: Even if Gill's resurrection was infinite, there's no proof that it lets Gill come back from anything. If Gill, for example, lost an arm, there's no proof that he could regenerate it with resurrection. Meanwhile, Orochi's been shown to regenerate from large self-made gashes.
Boomstick: With that information, Orochi has a perfect way to end the fight. Orochi's not above dirty moves if he's backed into a corner, like when he activated Iori's riot of the blood so he'd fight Kyo and Chizuru. Meanwhile, Orochi can give people his power. If someone who isn't a member of Orochi's clan uses this power, they tend to die by vaporization, as good 'ol Rugal found out the hard way.
Wiz: With all this in mind, Orochi's regeneration and massive speed advantage would prevent Gill from ever landing a decisive blow, meanwhile Orochi has more than enough power to put down Gill despite Resurrection.
Boomstick: But Wiz, couldn't Seraphic Wing be considered light, just like Rounding Reaper?
Wiz: While this can be argued for Street Fighter Five, Gill always freezes his opponent in place before using the attack in that game. Meanwhile, in Street Fighter Three, it's just waves of energy that can't really be argued to be light speed.
Note: While Orochi usually spares his opponents if they impress him and then sleeps for anywhere between a decade and a century, Death Battle's rules prevent this.
Boomstick: Looks like Gill was Psyched Out when faced with the Origin of Mind.
Wiz: The winner is Orochi
