Description
One Punch Man vs. Marvel! In a duel between the sidekicks of heroes for fun, with robot parts or armor to battle, who shall survive?
Interlude
Wiz: Some heroes fight for justice. Others crave recognition. And some... are just heroes for fun.
Boomstick: But what's a hero for fun, without his sidekick? Genos, sidekick to Saitama!
Wiz: And War Machine, sidekick to Iron Man.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: It's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
Genos
(Cue The Hero/Rules of Nature mashup)
Wiz: In the very-popular-for-monsters-to-attack Z-City, there is an S-Class Hero enhanced with cybernetics from near-death as a powerful cyborg with incredibly destructive powers. His name... Genos.
Boomstick: Aw... I thought you were going to say, John Cena... even though he isn't a cyborg. Anyway. Young Genos was a 15-year-old boy happily living with his parents, until classic superhero cliche. As in, is parents were killed by a cyborg and he somehow survived.
Wiz: However, the very left of Genos' body was still salvageable. Had Doctor Stench not come along and picked him up, Genos would have been dead. Suddenly getting a desire to become a hero, Genos begged Stench to turn him into a cyborg.
Boomstick: Which he did! Well technically, very little of him is still human, so it's almost like he's a full robot. Oh, whatever. Genos promised to Doctor Stench that he'd defeat the cyborg that killed his parents, using his new cool cybernetic enhancements!
Wiz: As Genos is now a cyborg, his skin is made out of metal-
Boomstick: And titanium! Man, been too long since one of those references.
Wiz: But what kind of metal? Well... no one knows. Also, Genos' strength, speed, and durability were enhanced far past the limits of a human being's. He could tear apart a cliff face, run faster than the eye could track, and because he's a cyborg who feels no pain, he could fight even when getting his limbs removed.
Boomstick: And in the world of robots and cyborgs... you know there's always going to spare. So Genos here doesn't mind losing a limb or two in the heat of battle!
Wiz: Also, Genos was equipped with sensors that allow him to track down opponents, turning him into a one-man army not to be trifled with.
Boomstick: As far as weaponry goes, Genos' mechanical arms can turn into big incineration cannons, outright blowing up everything which stands in their way! These can take out huge buildings in one blast, and that's just a casual feat.
Wiz: But if Genos needs to constantly be moving around in battle, his jet boosters allow him some limited flight as well as quicker travel speed. When charged up more, the Incineration Cannons can even destroy the equivalent of multiple city blocks, and when charged further, can even destroy a town or even a city.
Boomstick: All of Genos' power comes from a glowing blue sphere known as the Core! Well, it only makes sense for him to get his power from a blue ball, seeing as how I doubt he can reproduce.
Wiz: By channeling the core to his arms, Genos can power up his Incineration Cannons even further. And if a foe is to survive all this, there is one measure within him, known as Destruct. Genos will self-destruct his entire body, resulting in a huge explosion. Except we don't know how powerful it is, because the only chance he ever got to use it he was interrupted by Saitama.
Boomstick: From there, Genos declared himself as Saitama's pupil, and trained to become as powerful of a hero as the One Punch Man.
Wiz: From there, Genos' comical seriousness contrasted with Saitama's casualness. Genos believes himself to be a hero straight from a shounen manga, or from a comic book. He calls out his attacks like one...
Boomstick: Machine Gun Blow is a series of punches fired at machine-gun speeds, Boost Attack has him launching himself at a quick speed, Rocket Punch is a huge punch powered by his Core, and Lightning Eye blinds an opponent temporarily with a huge flash of light!
Wiz: But as Genos strives to be like Saitama, he has built-in Anti-Saitama Technical Arms, which decrease the overall wideness of his Incineration Cannons, but increases their overall power. They're even powerful enough to throw Saitama into a small mountain and destroy much of its surface.
Boomstick: Except... that wasn't Saitama. It was just an afterimage. I-it's One Punch Man. Don't question it.
Wiz: When Genos gets even more serious, he unleashes Arms Mode - a super form of sorts which releases an electrical discharge, and moves the Core to his arms. Which makes him bigger and likely slower, but also increases his destructive capability to the max.
Boomstick: But speaking of speed, with Genos' G4 upgrade, his speed and power were increased, allowing him to even keep up with Speed of Sound Sonic! And that guy can break the sound barrier like 10 times over!
Wiz: But Genos isn't just powerful, he's also smart. He scored a perfect 100 on the Superhero Exam when Saitama only scored a 71.
Boomstick: He also helped Saitama defeat Mosquito Girl! Yeah, Saitama was the one to finish her off, and he could have one it on his own, but still. Genos helped!
Wiz: He's also fought against some other characters in the series, such as Carnage Kabuto, Sea King, G4, and the aforementioned Sonic and Saitama. However... that's not to say that he's without his weaknesses.
Boomstick: Genos loses his fights... like all the time.
Wiz: Whether he's being outmaneuvered by Sonic, overpowered by Mosquito Girl, or just outright demolished by Saitama, Genos can't seem to catch a break. Even when it was his time to shine when a huge meteor threatened the Earth, a full-power blast from Genos' Incineration Cannons ultimately failed.
Boomstick: Genos, stop falling apart!
Wiz: But his losses could just as easily be attributed to simply being out of his league, and despite the loss, Genos will always continue to fight if it means one day catching up to Saitama.
Genos: I am willing to do anything to become more powerful. However, I can't picture myself coming even close to attaining teacher's power.
War Machine
(Cue War Machine - AC/DC)
Wiz: Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, James Rhodes lead a relatively normal life.
Boomstick: But you know, being a superhero means that you can't lead a normal life once your life crosses a certain point. For Rhodes, this was when he went into the military and became a pilot! Making mama proud.
Wiz: Rhodes was an exceptional pilot, as well as a soldier, engineer, and survivalist. But one day, things looked bleak for Rhodes when he was shot down by enemy rockets while stationed in Afghanistan.
Boomstick: It looked like it'd be the end of Rhodey as he desperately tried to get his plane back into the air, but ever-so-conveniently Iron Man happened to be flying by! After convincing Rhodey that the two were on the same side, Tony offered Rhodey a position as a pilot for Stark Industries. Because that's what you do, right? Take injured people and make them work for you?
Wiz: Naturally, Rhodey declined at first. However, it didn't take too long for him to change his mind and accept the job.
Boomstick: Which, is the best job you could offer to anyone. Because Rhodey wasn't just a pilot, but he also got his own Iron Man suit! How fuckin' awesome is that?! Oh, and he was named War Machine. Because he was built for one thing: War.
Wiz: The War Machine suit is essentially a modified version of Iron Man's Model 11, which if you recall is Iron Man's standard suit.
Boomstick: Not only does it come from one of those 1940's black-and-white movies, but it also has more shielding and defenses than Iron Man's suit.
Wiz: Using a polycarbonate coating, the War Machine suit's durability is enhanced even further. This allows it to tank blows such as rapid-fire nukes or dips into pools of lava.
Boomstick: anything that Iron Man's Model 11 has survived, the War Machine can too. It makes things convenient.
Wiz: The suit can also resist 85 to 100 tons of force, which gives Rhodey some impressive lifting strength. And while its defensive measures generally slow down its movement in comparison to Iron Man, the War Machine can fly at speeds faster than even sound.
Boomstick: I mean, at the very, very least, War Machine can dodge bullets. All the damn time!
Wiz: However, the suit's defenses are not its only weapon. The suit is a one-man army of its own and stores just about any sort of high-tech weapon you could ever think of.
Boomstick: Oh man, this is my favorite part! Rhodey here can wield a big chain gun to make Swiss cheese out of his enemies, chainsaws in his arms to cut 'em into bits, flamethrowers, Gatling guns, missiles, pulse cannons, and plasma cannons!
Wiz: While his military arsenal may be impressive, by far the War Machine's most potent weapons in his arsenal are the ones Iron Man built specifically for him. Like Iron Man, War Machine can fire repulsor blasts. While they may resemble laser beams, repulsor blasts are, well, exactly what they sound like. Compressed blasts of energy magnetically repulsed and fired like lasers.
Boomstick: You know how Iron Man can blast apart buildings and stuff with those repulsors? Well... so can War Machine. You get the idea. If Iron Man can do it in his Model 11, War Machine can do it. For the most part.
Wiz: But when all else fails, Rhodey activates the most powerful weapon he has in his arsenal: The Unibeam.
Boomstick: Because Tony Stark wouldn't fly for just one Unibeam, he had to give his sidekick one as well. And it... well, it's the same as Iron Man's Unibeam.
Wiz: By transferring the energy from the War Machine into its core, a huge repulsor beam is fired from the chest. At its most powerful, the Unibeam should match Iron Man's.
Boomstick: And even on Iron Man's off days, he can take out a mountain or even a freaking island with that laser!
Wiz: But in case Rhodes is forced to subdue an opponent and not go for the kill, he has nonlethal variants on all of his weaponry. Such as, for example, batons and strobes.
Boomstick: Mr. Rhodes here is a jack of all trades, basically good at everything! His military training makes him an expert marksman, hand-to-hand fighter, survivalist, engineer, and pilot! Hell, if he wanted he could pilot all of the Iron Man armors!
Wiz: Which, he did for a short time. See, once Tony Stark faked his death, and James Rhodes decided that it was his turn to don the Iron Man suit. He even showed that he could take on a variety of different villains in this armor, including the Zodiac and the Mandarin.
Boomstick: He's also founded his group of Avengers, and when he found out that Tony wasn't dead, he went solo for a short time. Oh, and he fought Iron Man! Like, a lot!
Wiz: However, for all of its strengths, War Machine does have its weaknesses. War Machine may be more durable than Iron Man, but sacrifices much speed in the process, which has led to his downfall against Tony.
Boomstick: Oh, and he can be affected by EMP's. You know, like Iron Man.
Wiz: And while Rhodes doesn't have any crippling personal problems as Stark does, and the War Machine armor is quite durable, it's not invincible and powerful attacks can wear it down.
Boomstick: But hey. They don't call him the War Machine for nothing!
War Machine: The name's... War Machine.
DEATH BATTLE!
Fedora Lord Para 348
Abandoned Factory
Night had fallen. An abandoned, remote factory stood in the moonlight, the rusted metal door leaning on its backside in the doorway, with a large foot-sized dent in the center. The faint smell of blood wafted through, though it wasn't quite as strong as it had been before.
If one was bold enough to walk through the open doorway, one could see a tapestry of yellow "CAUTION" tape zigzagged and crossed in "X" shapes, wrapped around the edges of the doorway to ward off any possible intruders. Surprisingly, very little police activity had been done in the area besides putting up the "CAUTION" tape...
A few months back, this factory had earned itself a reputation after Captain America, the First Avenger and one of the most famous and reputably powerful humans known on the entire planet, died whilst inside the factory due to unknown reasons. And only minutes later, Director Nick Fury was killed after the subsequent crash of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier.
As a result, no one dared set a foot near that area. Even the police force, people who had been trained to take on all sorts of dangers at any given moment, were not only afraid to enter but also given instructions to stay as far away from the factory as possible and just try to keep people away. With how afraid most people were of the place already, they didn't exactly have to actively try to convince people not to go near the factory.
For months, no one had gone anywhere near the factory. Until just now.
The sound of metallic whirring and "clank!" ing rang throughout as the figure of a young man approached the factory. As he stepped into the moonlight, one could make out that his body was completely mechanical, and that his limbs were robotic. A white, oil-stained sleeveless shirt draped over his cyborg's torso, and going up one could see that his robot parts went all the way up to his face, which looked surprisingly human-like. His eyes, however, were black surrounding their yellow irises rather than white. His blond hair also appeared to be natural despite the rest of his body is cybernetic.
This was the S-Class Hero Genos, and the Hero Association had sent him here to retrieve information on what had happened to Captain America. After all, someone had to go in to investigate. No one else would do it. Tatsumaki? She was out trying to keep an island from being lifted from the ground and hurled back down. Metal Bat? Out defending a baseball diamond. How about License-Less Rider? Please...
Genos crept toward the fallen door of the factory, face-to-face with the yellow "CAUTION!" tape. Unfazed by the tape in front of him, Genos sighed and extended his right arm as a circle in the center of the palm began to glow with a bright red-orange. After a second had passed, Genos fired out a short beam of bright red-orange energy, severing and burning the tape as smoke and a foul burning odor were left behind. Throwing all caution to the wind, Genos marched on in as his scanners in his eyes immediately blew up with several different windows and messages.
Indecipherable words and code appeared in his eye as three separate pictures of Captain America's iconic circular star-spangled shield showed up in his scanners. Genos' eyes widened upon this alert but continued to walk through the unlit factory as suddenly everything in his vision went green, like night-vision.
Genos could make out several different crates stacked up in towering columns, each of them reading "UMBRELLA" in stenciled black letters. He could also see a dusty conveyor belt, not likely having been used in months, maybe even years. Rats and cockroaches all around scurried into the corners, dashing as far away as they could from the cyborg.
"What exactly am I looking for...?" Genos asked himself, trying to identify the shield in his scanners. He continued wandering around the abandoned factory, looking around for that shield without much in the way of luck.
When suddenly, Genos heard the audible sound of a jet landing behind him, at the entrance of the dark factory. Except, in this instance, the jet didn't sound nearly as big as the average jet would. Genos turned around, and his eyes widened at what he saw before him.
Before he was a humanoid figure who stood higher than him and appeared to be somewhat robotic. Its entire body was coated in heavy, gray metal from head to toe, with a plate of silver over the facial area. Red eyes and a red square portion on the chest glowed as he stood up, looking down at the cyborg. This was the sidekick to the Invincible Iron Man, James Rhodes. Or, better known as War Machine.
For a few seconds, Genos and War Machine did not speak. After about seven seconds had passed, War Machine decided to break the silence. "What are you doing here, kid?" asked War Machine, with a slightly condescending, slightly scolding tone to his voice.
Genos scowled at War Machine. "I'm here on a mission. You?"
War Machine stepped back a bit, but Rhodes knew he had to be on his toes like always. Immediately after looking at Genos, an in-helmet HUD system came up, analyzing the cyborg.
MODEL NAME: DEMON CYBORG
ALIAS: GENOS
WARNING: UNIT IS LOADED WITH MASSIVELY DESTRUCTIVE WEAPONRY. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
"Same here," he replied. "But something about you just isn't sitting right with me."
"What?" Genos asked, his eyes widening as he stepped back, taking a defensive stance.
Before Genos could say anything else, a chain gun the length of War Machine's forearm unfolded and extended from the War Machine's shoulder and pointed itself at Genos' chest, which was now glowing a bright cyan color.
"People don't just hang around these sorts of places for fun."
FIGHT!
(Cue The Cyborg Fights - One Punch Man OST)
The chain gun mounted on War Machine's shoulder-fired out a barrage of machine-gun bullets, with an audible "RATATATATATAT!" from the gun. Before Genos could react, each of the bullets hit him square in the chest, with each bullet making a metallic "clang!"ing sound upon impact. Surprised, Genos stumbled backward as the bullets hit him.
After a few seconds, the chain gun stopped firing at Genos. The large machine gun emitted a cloud of gray smoke after it ceased fire, the bullets on the ground at Genos' feet. However, apart from a few bullet holes in Genos' shirt, there were no signs of visible injury on the cyborg.
Genos quickly dashed toward War Machine, the spherical Core in his chest glowing with an intense cyan light as he pulled back his right arm, which was glowing a red-orange in the palm. War Machine similarly dashed forward, his jet boosters on his hands and feet propelling him forward toward the cyborg.
War Machine and Genos clashed at each other, the two both extending their arms toward each other simultaneously. Genos' palm was glowing a bright red-orange, while War Machine's was glowing a blue-green. As if in perfect unison, Genos fired off his Incineration Cannon at the same time War Machine fired off his repulsor, both of them point-blank.
With a flash of red and blue light, Genos and War Machine both jumped backward upon firing their beams at each other, but neither appeared to have taken considerable damage from the attack. A cloud of smoke rose from the point where they crashed, and there was now a small crater in the ground from the impact.
Unfazed, the two clashed at each other once more, exchanging fisticuffs in unison. Each time Genos and War Machine would throw punches at each other, they would perfectly punch each others' fists in perfect succession.
"You have no business being here." War Machine sternly told Genos, pulling back his fist and delivering a punch. However, right before War Machine's fist connected with Genos' face, War Machine stopped his fist just centimeters before making contact.
Suddenly, everything stopped. Genos himself stopped in his tracks, not knowing quite what War Machine was doing.
"...You're not going to hit me?" Genos asked, relaxing as his shoulders leaned down and his expression went blank. His cyan core dimmed down a bit as there was more silence for a few seconds.
War Machine opened his hand to reveal that his palm was glowing a bright blue-green like before. "Of course I am." Before Genos could react, a blue laser-like beam fired out from War Machine's palm as it launched Genos through a large wooden crate marked with the stenciled black word "UMBRELLA" over it. Wooden chunks and splinters went flying as Genos fell on his back, landing on the ground as War Machine flew toward him and hovered above.
"Alright," began War Machine, a shoulder pack extending from his, well, shoulder to reveal five small rockets aimed at Genos. "You going to take my advice and get out-"
"Rocket Punch!" Shouted Genos before War Machine could finish his sentence, Genos pulled back his arm and extended his fist despite War Machine being above him at least ten feet in the air.
(Cue The Hero of Nature - One Punch Man x Metal Gear Rising mashup)
But to War Machine's surprise, Genos' fist launched toward him from his arm and fired at it the War Machine like a rocket, connected to a cable attached to his arm. Before War Machine could react or dodge, the fist hit him square in the armor's stomach. War Machine was knocked backward as Genos leaped up into the air, his palms both glowing with red-orange light. Taking advantage of War Machine's moment of vulnerability, Genos thrust both of his arms forward as he fired two bright red-orange beams out of his Incineration Cannons at the War Machine, the blast sending War Machine hurdling downward.
War Machine fell as he took the full force of Genos' Incineration Cannons, landing on his back and crashing through more crates marked "UMBRELLA". He lifted his head, and underneath the helmet, he winced as he could feel a sharp burning pain on his back. It felt as if his skin was being welded to the War Machine armor
"How much damage did that kid do...?" Rhodes asked himself, observing the damages of the War Machine armor. Once again, the in-helmet HUD system came back up, reporting the damages done from Genos' Incineration Cannons.
WAR MACHINE JRXL-1000 ARMOR HIT WITH A POWERFUL BURNING ENERGY FORCE. ANY ADDITIONAL DAMAGE MAY RESULT IN INCINERATION.
The armor's plating had been singed and blackened by the Genos' Incineration Cannons, but overall his armor was still in good fighting condition. "Alright," Rhodes began, pulling himself back up onto his feet. "Time for you to know why they call me War Machine!"
Genos landed down on his feet, facing the War Machine with both of his arms extended and his palms glowing. Genos' scanners were pictures of the War Machine's various feats, as well as facial pictures of James Rhodes. After a few seconds of different pictures coming up, his field of vision turned from green to red as a big yellow screen with the word "CAUTION" written in red lettering suddenly flashed on his scanners.
"Oh, that can't be good..." Genos muttered to himself as War Machine extended both of his arms toward the cyborg. With almost no time to spare, Genos jumped upward right as two pistol-like guns unfolded from War Machine's wrists, both of them aiming at the cyborg. As if Genos had timed this perfectly, a pair of repulsor blasts fired out from War Machine's pistols, landing beneath where Genos jumped. The impact scattered concrete dust everywhere as Genos jumped backward, using the jet boosters on his arms to propel himself backward.
However, right before Genos could land back on the ground, War Machine unfolded another Retractable Weapons Pod from his shoulder, this one filled with six black rockets. All six of the rockets fired out at Genos, each of them trailed by a strike of white smoke as they weaved and turned to reach their target. Before Genos could react, all six of the rockets zeroed in and exploded on Genos in a flash of white and red.
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!
The subsequent explosions launched Genos through more "UMBRELLA"-labeled crates, and then into the back wall of the factory. Genos' body slammed against the wall with a loud "THUD!", denting the wall behind him as he fell onto the ground. Looking up, Genos could see War Machine looming over him and pointing his extended arm at the cyborg.
"Alright, kid. Gotta say you're a lot more powerful than I thought you'd be-"
Once again, Genos interrupted War Machine's little speech as suddenly Genos sprang back up onto his feet. Shocked, War Machine extended his left arm as a flamethrower nozzle extended from underneath the War Machine's wrist.
"Two can play at this heated game." War Machine boasted as a stream of orange flame shot from the nozzle, but Genos instantly ducked underneath, narrowly avoiding the fire.
"Boost Attack!" Genos called, turning his body at a 90-degree angle as he kicked the War Machine in the stomach area as his jet boosters strengthened the blow.
Suddenly, there was a bit of static to be seen in the War Machine's in-helmet HUD system. Rhodes let out an agonized "oof!" as Genos landed his surprise attack, and fumbled backward as he attempted to maintain balance in the heavy suit. After a few seconds, he stood up straight as he faced the cyborg, when-
"Machine Gun Blows!" shouted Genos. Before War Machine could react to Genos' words, he saw Genos' arms appear to vanish before his eyes.
"Where did his arms-OOF!" a flurry of blunt, metallic, searing-hot punches collided with the War Machine's exterior, each punch hitting with a heavy "clang!" sound. Every punch would feel stronger and faster than the last as Genos continually punched the War Machine at a machine-gun pace, if not much faster. After countless punches, Genos extended both his hands as Rhodes was still trying to process what was going on.
"Incinerate!" Genos called out, a wave of bright red heat energy emitting from his Incineration Cannons as the blast launched War Machine to the opposite side of the factory. Right as Rhodes hit the wall, he brought up another message from the HUD system.
DANGER. JRXL-1000 ARMOR BURNED BY METAL OF THOUSANDS OF DEGREES. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Rhodes sighed, then rolled his eyes underneath the helmet. "Don't you think that I can feel how hot this is?!" Rhodes asked the War Machine armor. Before he could fall to the ground, War Machine flew back into the air and dashed toward Genos (whose arms were now emitting an orange smoke from the Machine Gun Blows) at a blinding speed, extending his fist to throw a right hook into the cyborg's face, resulting in an audible "clang!".
(Cue War Machine - KISS)
Genos clenched his eyes shut as he stumbled over from the force of the attack, stepping backward as he barely caught his balance. As the cyborg opened his eyes, he gasped in horror as he could see the War Machine standing in front of him, this time with running chainsaws underneath the forearms of the gray armor.
WHIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
The War Machine's eyes glowed a bright red as the chainsaws started to run with an ear-piercing "whir!"ing sound. War Machine swung his arm horizontally at Genos, who quickly raised an open palm to catch the chainsaw blade. Genos' palm deflected the chainsaw, and then War Machine pulled his arm backward. Genos reflexively pulled his arm back too, then looked down at his palm. He gasped as he saw that the blade had torn through a portion of his palm, exposing pieces of scrap metal as well as wiring and other tech pieces as his palm sparked a blue color.
Genos stepped back and huffed, baring his teeth as he growled in frustration. War Machine swung his left arm horizontally toward Genos' face, aiming the chainsaw blade toward his temple. Genos quickly ducked underneath War Machine's arm as he pulled back his right arm, his Core glowing with a bright cyan light again. He then extended his arm as he delivered a full-power punch toward War Machine's midsection. However, Rhodes caught glimpse of the attack just in time as he stepped to his left (or Genos' right, so to say), completely avoiding Genos' attack.
And now Genos was left wide open.
"Thanks, kid. You make this easy." Rhodes quipped, lifting his left foot as he stomped down on Genos' arm! Genos gasped as his armor dented and crushed underneath the pressure of War Machine's foot.
"Must get away!" Genos shouted, pulling his arm to try to free himself. Before Genos could get free, War Machine swung his left arm horizontally again, aiming the chainsaw blade at Genos' arm. In one quick motion, Genos' right arm was sawed clean off! Scraps of metal and wiring scattered as sparks of electricity flew out.
Genos fell over onto his back, having been dis-armed (ha!). Before he could get back up, War Machine picked him up by his white, oil-stained shirt and tossed him upward into the air, almost reaching the ceiling of the factory as Rhodes flew upward, revealing the twin repulsor pistols from before. "Good night, kid." taunted War Machine, firing twin repulsor blasts from the pistols at the airborne Genos. The cyborg could only watch in horror as the blast launched him not only into but through the wall of the factory.
CRASH!
War Machine looked through the hole he'd made through the wall of the factory. However, he didn't let his guard down as the HUD system was still picking up Genos' signature.
"Alright, he's still alive... maybe I should just look down to be sure..."
Rhodes slowly hovered toward the hole in the wall and looked down below the factory. Below was a cliff edge, and at the very bottom of it, all was a dark abyss of a canyon, only dimly-lit by the moonlight. The War Machine hovered out the wall of the factory, then slowly descended toward the canyon as the red light on its chest lit up with a right red strobe light.
Still, the very bottom of the crevice was completely obscured by the darkness. War Machine began to slowly creep down toward the bottom of the canyon as his search for Genos began.
(End music)
Inside a small hole in a cliff face
Genos, having fallen down the cliff, had now scaled the face of the cliff to take refuge in the hole of a cliff face.
"Man, that guy's... seriously strong..." Genos muttered to himself. "I bet Saitama-Sensei would kill him in just one punch..."
Reaching into a darker section of the cliff face, Genos pulled out a black, rectangular briefcase. He set the briefcase down on its back as he unlatched the front side, and opened it up to reveal a pair of black, sleeker-looking robot arms. Genos' left arm (the one that hadn't been cut off) picked up the right black arm and attached it, then detached his left arm as his right arm put the left black arm on.
After a few seconds, Genos' Core glowed with a bright cyan once more. But this time, streaks of orange glowed from Genos' newly-acquired black arms, the Anti-Saitama Tactical Arms.
Maybe they weren't powerful enough to take down Saitama, but perhaps they'd be enough to defeat War Machine.
(Cue The Hero - Jonathan Young (Don't let it go past 3:50))
Genos wore a stern expression as he turned toward the opening of the cliff face, seeking out the War Machine-
When suddenly, War Machine flew upward from below the cliff face, Rhodes looking Genos straight in the eye.
"You're not getting away from me," Rhodes stated, pointing his repulsor pistols at Genos again. "You're persistent, I'll give you that."
Genos suddenly turned around, and from the darkness of the crevice behind him, he pulled a pale green military tank by the cannon! He swung it around in quick pivoting motion as he tossed it at the War Machine.
Rhodes' eyes widened as the tank hit him straight-on, the impact knocking him back into a tall rock pillar behind him. The rocks either broke or fell as the War Machine hurdled down into the abyss below.
"...Huh. I didn't even need to use my Incineration Cannons for that..." Genos muttered. Suddenly, his eyes widened as he saw War Machine lifting the tank above his head as he threw the tank back at Genos.
"Boom," Rhodes interjected. "You looking for this?"
Genos huffed as he extended both of his arms toward the tank, the streaks around the Anti-Saitama arms glowing bright orange as his Core lit up with a glowing cyan. With a battle cry, a wide blast of orange-yellow heat energy erupted from Genos' palms as the tank was incinerated to nothing but hot ash.
In this display of power, War Machine flew above the beam and delivered another right hook to Genos' face, similar to the last time he did this. This time, a louder "clang!" could be heard as Genos fell onto his back. Taking advantage of Genos' moment of vulnerability, War Machine picked up Genos by his left leg, then hurled him out the edge of the cliff face. War Machine flew out toward Genos, instantly catching him by his shirt as he dashed through the air and toward a perpendicular cliff face, then slammed Genos into it with an echoing "CRASH!" as dust and rocks kicked up from the impact. The mounted tip of the cliff face cracked in half from the same impact as it fell to the ground, leveling the top of the cliff.
"Alright, kid," Rhodes began as the War Machine revealed a Shoulder Pack loaded with a collection of missiles, aiming at Genos. "I've let you live for too long-"
"Incinerate!" shouted Genos, pointing his arm at War Machine's chest. Before the War Machine could take any damage from the attack, he jolted backward as Genos flipped upward into the air, then landed on his feet atop the flattened cliff face. Before War Machine could do anything else, Genos extended both of his arms as suddenly, the arms greatly widened as they transformed into an amalgamation of various small cannons, all coming together in the form of one huge Incineration Cannon.
"What are you-" Rhodes asked before a message on his HUD screen came up.
WARNING: INCOMING ATTACK COULD MELT JRXL-1000 ARMOR AT OVER 2120 DEGREES
"...Shit." Rhodes muttered to himself. Before War Machine could react, Genos let out an ear-piercing, echoing yell as his arms fired out a massive beam of yellow-orange light-heat energy from his Anti-Saitama Incineration Cannons. The intense brightness of the beams completely obscured War Machine's figure, making him impossible to see inside of the beam made by Genos' Incineration Cannons.
"Haaaaahhh!!!!" Genos screamed out, his Core and arms growing even brighter as the diameter of the beam increased even further. He could feel the oil in his body dripping down his cyborg exterior, and his robotic body heating up underneath. While it was certainly beginning to take a toll on the cyborg, it would be well worth it once the beam cleared, right?
Rhodes gasped, his body completely enveloped in the huge Incinerate beam.
WARNING: TEMPERATURE HAS REACHED OVER 2120 DEGREES. FURTHER EXPOSURE TO THIS HEAT COULD BE FATAL.
"I know that!" shouted Rhodes, his body beginning to profusely sweat underneath the suit. It felt as if his body was beginning to sear underneath the armor; like Rhodes was being fried in a pan covering his entire body. Trying not to panic, Rhodes took a deep breath as he dashed outside the radius of the Incineration Cannon's beam - and into Genos' blind spot.
When War Machine emerged, one could see that the exterior was darker in the center than before, and some of it was beginning to melt off. While Rhodey was still alive and well, this attack had left the War Machine armor in a far more damaged condition. Rhodes took a deep breath, then flew behind Genos while the cyborg was still firing his attack.
"This... should do... the trick!" shouted Genos, whose eyes were sealed shut from the sheer power he was exerting into his Incineration Cannons. His Core was glowing almost as brightly as the beam was, and his metallic body was beginning to glow bright orange as it heated up. He knew for sure that War Machine could not survive this-
CLANG!
-That was, until a hard, blunt force the size of a fist hit Genos on the back of his head. His eyes widened as he stumbled forward, gasping as the beam he had fired dispersed. Genos caught his balance moments before he would land on his face, surprised that something had hit him.
"Hey, what-?" Genos turned around before he could finish asking his question, and seeing the singed-but-definitely-alive War Machine floating above him answered it.
(Cue Theme of War Machine - Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super-Heroes)
Genos gasped as he saw that War Machine had not only survived that last attack but also retaliated.
"Good news," James Rhodes boldly stated to his opponent. "If you sit still, this'll be over quick." War Machine extended both his arms toward the rock face which Genos was standing upon and fired two repulsor blasts at him, and just in the nick of time Genos jumped up to evade the attack. The cliff face which Genos was standing on was reduced to a cloud of dust and a pile of rocks on the ground as Genos leaped to his side to land atop another cliff.
Genos extended his right arm toward the War Machine, the streaks on the arm glowing orange as his Core glowed a light blue. He yelled out as he fired another orange blast from his Incineration Cannon, which the War Machine easily flew above and around as the blast instead hit a rock face behind War Machine. Much like the one before, this rock crumbled to bits upon contact with the blast.
War Machine, weaving around the Incineration Cannon's blast, fired another repulsor blast at Genos' position. Once more, Genos sprang up to avoid the blast as the repulsor reduced the rock face to bits.
"You know, you're eventually going to run out of rocks to jump on," War Machine pointed out as Genos landed atop another rock face. "You can make this easier for both of us, or pain in the ass."
Genos grunted as he stepped back a bit, eyeing the battlefield all around him. As much as he hated to admit it, War Machine was right. Eventually, there wouldn't be any more rocks for Genos to jump on, and the minute he was without a landing area he'd have no choice but to land in the abyss below.
But while Genos was continuing this thought, War Machine suddenly fired another blue-green repulsor blast at the rock face Genos was standing upon. Genos reflexively sprang up once more, but as he propelled into the air, he looked down in shock as he realized that War Machine's prediction was correct.
There were no more rock faces for him to land on.
Genos gasped as War Machine flew upward to match Genos' movement, delivering a solid, metallic right punch into the cyborg's midsection. An audible metallic "clang!" resulted from the impact, but War Machine grabbed onto Genos' shirt as the punch connected.
"I tried to warn you, kid," Rhodes stated as he dove toward the dark abyss, gripping Genos' shirt in his right hand as the two descended into the darkness.
"Hey, let go of me!" shouted Genos, squirming and grunting as he attempted to break free of the War Machine's grasp. Genos held up his arm with his palm pointed at the War Machine, ready to fire off another Incinerate attack. "If you don't let me go, I'll-"
"Fall to your doom?" asked Rhodes, quickly diving toward the bottom of the canyon. Genos' arm suddenly stopped glowing as he looked down. His black eyes widened as he gasped out, unable to think of anything else to say.
Then, after a few seconds had passed, War Machine pulled back his right arm (the one with Genos in its hand) and hurled him down the dark abyss. Genos screamed out as he plunged downward, reaching his right arm out. War Machine was staying airborne with his jet boosters, watching Genos disappear as his body plunged into the darkness of the canyon below.
"Wait for it..." Rhodes stayed where he was as he listened for the inevitable crashing sound of Genos' descent. It would only be a matter of time now...
CRASH!!!
"And that's done."
(End music)
Bottom of the canyon
There was nothing but darkness all around. One could look up at the night sky to see stars, but all it would do was reassure that person that he or she was now at a low point from which there was almost no escape.
And Genos was that person.
"Where... am I-" Genos asked himself, spitting out dirt from his mouth. He pushed himself back up onto his feet, stumbling from the impact. His Core and arms weren't glowing like they were before, and his shirt was now torn in the center and stained with oil and dirt. "And where did that guy go?" He asked himself. Genos closed his eyes as his Core flickered with dim cyan color. "Come on... don't do this to me right now..."
After a few seconds, the Core began to light up once more - except this time, the Anti-Saitama Tactical Arms weren't lighting up. Genos gasped as he looked at his arms (which he could hardly see due to the darkness). His right arm had dented, appearing to be the equivalent of a broken arm if he still had human arms. His left arm was reduced to only one half, with various metal scraps on the ground next to it.
"Man, I need to stop falling apart..." Genos muttered to himself. He put his head down, now wondering how he was going to get out of here - and what he would do if the War Machine was to return. Then, he turned his head to the left, and then his eyes widened in relief as he could just barely make out the rectangular figure of a black suitcase. It was hard to tell because it was so dark. But Genos crawled toward the suitcase anyway, then using his right (and only even slightly functional) arm, he opened up the latches as suddenly, the suitcase sprang open as the two halves of it attached themselves to Genos' arms, transforming his arms into huge, blocky arms as a metallic frame formed itself over his face.
Shortly after this transformation, War Machine descended to Genos' position, floating above the cyborg. "How did you possibly-?"
Once more, Genos interrupted War Machine's question. "ARMS MODE!" cried out Genos, his Core moving itself to his right shoulder as his new arms began to surge with blue, electrifying energy.
"Alright, I'm ending this!" Rhodes called out, dashing toward Genos headfirst. However, right when War Machine got anywhere close to Genos, he could feel the armor beginning to immobilize as electricity surged throughout the War Machine's suit. "Wait, no!" The armor was now completely unable to move as electricity surged through its frame, zapping Rhodes underneath. "What the hell is happening?!"
WAR MACHINE JRXL-1000 ARMOR HIT WITH A POWERFUL ELECTRIC FORCE.
ARMOR IMMOBILIZED. REBOOTING SUIT.
REBOOTING ARMOR.... 1%
REBOOTING ARMOR.... 10%
REBOOTING ARMOR.... 25%
"Come on, stupid suit!" Rhodes shouted at the HUD Unit. "The faster you reboot, the more likely we will be to survive!"
On the other end, Genos' arms and Core were glowing with a brightness that even lit up the darkness of the canyon's abyss with a bright ice-blue color as Genos' own body was surging with the same electrical energy. "I will... end this all!" screamed Genos as his Incineration Cannons fired out a wide blast of orange-yellow energy, much like before.
Rhodes screamed out in pain from inside of the Incineration Beam, his skin feeling like it was being fried once more. He could feel his skin bubbling and searing underneath the suit, and it hurt like hell.
REBOOTING ARMOR.... 60%
"Hurry the fuck up, suit!" screamed Rhodes.
From on the other side, Genos clenched his eyes shut as his Core began to glow even brighter, and intensified the brightness of the Incineration Cannon's beam. Rocks and dust in the distance kicked up as the sheer force of the cannons was beginning to push Genos back a bit, digging his feet into the dirt below.
"There's no way..." Genos sputtered. "He can... survive... this!"
Rhodes sighed as he closed his eyes, starting to succumb to the intense pain as he felt his entire body feeling as if it was being incinerated.
REBOOTING ARMOR.... 90%
Rhodey yelled out once more. "Hurry up!" He shouted. "If you don't reboot in time, we're dead!"
Genos let out one battle cry as the Incineration Beam flashed its brightest yellow and then dispersed as the force knocked Genos back a bit. The War Machine fell to the ground, the suit looking noticeably black around the center and a darker gray around the edges. It also appeared to be shinier as parts of it were beginning to melt off. The suit wasn't going to last much longer...
On the other end, Geno's blocky arms fell off, revealing sleeker, silver arms that did not glow like his other arms, and looked thinner and shinier than his previous ones.
"Alright, War Machine, this ends now!" shouted Genos, dashing toward the War Machine as his Core moved back down to his chest, glowing that same cyan color.
REBOOTING ARMOR.... 95%
"Stop doing this!" shouted Rhodes as Genos made it to the War Machine, jumping up and delivering a crushing punch to the backside of the War Machine.
Genos then grabbed the War Machine by his leg, throwing it upward and pulling back his right arm as he punched War Machine in the stomach. Rhodes let out an agonized "Hurk!" as he went flying, to which Genos responded by dashing full-speed toward him.
"Machine Gun Blows!" shouted Genos, unleashing a barrage of punches so quickly, Rhodes could not possibly track them. An assortment of metallic "clang!"s could be heard from the War Machine's suit, the previous damage from the Incineration Cannons having softened the suit. "Incinerate!" shouted Genos, extending his arms toward War Machine as he fired out a short orange-yellow blast at him. War Machine went flying into the base of a cliff edge, shattering the rock behind him as a large slab of stone fell atop the War Machine's head, splitting in two as it fell.
"Come on..." Rhodes muttered inside his armor, hoping for the suit to finally be done rebooting. "Come on, suit! If you don't reboot, we die!"
REBOOTING ARMOR COMPLETE.
Rhodes breathed a sigh of relief as he gave a grin from inside, then rushed out of the rock debris as he dashed back toward Genos. "Hey, cyborg kid?" asked Rhodes. Genos, wearing a look of absolute disbelief, delivered a hard left punch into the suit... which, War Machine blocked with an open palm. "Nope."
Genos gasped as War Machine held up his arm to the cyborg's face, a repulsor pistol unfolding. Before Genos could react, War Machine fired a repulsor ray from the pistol at Genos' face. The blast knocked Genos backward as War Machine opened a shoulder pack, this one loaded with more rockets as three of them fired at Genos, each one exploding on contact as the blast launched Genos into the air.
"No... this can't be happening..." Genos muttered to himself. War Machine flew upward to match Genos' movements, punching with both his fists at the cyborg. Genos quickly raised his open palms to block the punches, gripping onto War Machine's fists. "I'm not... going to lose... this easily!" shouted Genos. "Not as long as I can one day reach Saitama-sensei's power!"
War Machine continued flying upward, shooting upward as the two emerged from the pitch-black canyon. "Sorry to crush your dreams." Rhodes apologized, firing out two repulsors at Genos, the blasts knocking Genos upward diagonally.
"No!" screamed Genos. War Machine nodded as several different weapons revealed themselves behind his back - missiles, rockets, machine guns, flamethrowers, and even a torpedo-shaped sub-nuke munition. "I'm sorry... Saitama-sensei..."
"Good night, kid," Rhodes muttered, firing off countless rockets at the cyborg.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Flashes of red and clouds of smoke and dust obscured Genos' position as the War Machine fired out more rockets. A wave of orange flame fired out and surrounded the area Genos had been as machine guns on War Machine's shoulders fired out rapid-fire. The red square on War Machine's chest began to glow brightly as the War Machine fired out two repulsor blasts from his hands, the large sub-nuke on War Machine's backfiring itself at Geno's in conjunction with a red laser-firing out from War Machine's chest - the Unibeam.
The repulsors, the rockets, the flamethrowers, the bullets, the sub-nuke, and the Unibeam all converged upon Genos in one huge attack.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A huge red-orange cloud fire and dust erupted from Genos' position as the sheer force of the attack recoiled War Machine back onto the cliff face. Rhodes only watched as the dust cleared from Genos' position, metallic scraps scattering around as it was hardly identifiable what they once were.
"Whew!" Rhodes sighed in relief. He got back up on his feet as he flew away, heading back to Stark Industries. His suit was in serious need of repairs...
K.O.!
Off in the distance, a tall, bald man in a yellow superhero uniform with a red cape, Saitama was standing atop a hill and looking at the night sky. Though he wasn't very far away from the action, at no point did any of it ever really interest him, and as such he had no clue what was going on the whole time.
When suddenly, a large-in-comparison (to the metal scraps that had been strewn about, that is) chunk of metal was about to fall upon Saitama's head. Just before the metallic scrap could hit Saitama on the head, the hero for fun reflexively reached his hand up and grabbed the metallic piece, then brought it down to his face to look at it.
What he saw was the left half of Genos' face, burned, scratched, and overall seriously damaged.
"Saitama..." the half of Genos' face muttered, the eye twitching.
Saitama sighed as he held Genos' half-face to his eye level, then closed his eyes and shook his head.
"Genos, stop falling apart."
Results
Boomstick: Well, it looks like Genos really won't stop falling apart. Self-fulfilling prophecy, anyone?
Wiz: Surprisingly enough, this fight was very close. Genos and War Machine have counters for just about everything, as far as physical stats go, anyway. Genos easily has superior striking strength to War Machine, being able to break apart cliff faces with his punches and even punch the behemoth Sea King through a building. War Machine, on the other hand, has better lifting strength, towing tanks around and such. This meant that while Genos' blows would certainly hurt more, War Machine could simply endure more pressure.
Boomstick: Genos has better reaction speed by keeping up with Speed of Sound Sonic in battle, but War Machine's travel speed was superior by keeping up with Iron Man, who can achieve Mach 20.
Wiz: Because of Genos' advantages in striking strength and reaction speed, he could likely take a fight in close-range. As such, War Machine's vastly bigger arsenal, as well as his better travel speed, meant that he'd overall take a fight in long-range. So what this one all came down to was endurance, and who would survive a longer fight.
Boomstick: While the War Machine has been shown to take damage, that thing can take nukes point-blank and not suffer a scratch! Genos, on the other hand, falls apart from his attacks like all the damn time! You know, there's a reason we all say "Genos, stop falling apart."
Wiz: While Genos isn't lacking in experience, he's nineteen years old, and only became a cyborg at fifteen. Compare this to War Machine, who has been in commission for many years, and on top of that James Rhodes has various military training as well as experience as Iron Man himself.
Boomstick: Finally, Genos believes himself to be the hero of some Shounen hero, always believing that he just needs more power to save himself, when it just always comes to bite him in the ass. Hell, when the world needed him most he failed to even make a dent in a meteor even with full power! While most of War Machine's power needs to be scaled from Iron Man... look, the Model 11 and the War Machine are the same. Except the War Machine has more armor and durability at the cost of some speed.
Wiz: This, combined with Genos' highly exploitable weak points of his arms and his Core made him a liability in this fight. One of his biggest advantages was Arms Mode, which could shut off the War Machine due to being an EMP of sorts, it's only during the activation sequence that it acts like one. Finally, with War Machine's ability to fly, Genos was simply at a big disadvantage in mobility.
Boomstick: That... and he just outright sucks at fighting. That, or he's just always kind of out of his league. He's not that used to winning fights. And there wasn't much he could do when the War Machine was simply more durable, could fly, was more experienced, and had a weapons variety capable of blowing Genos to smithereens. But hey, at least Genos went out with a bang!
Wiz: The winner is the War Machine.
