Description[]
One Punch Man vs Mega Man. They gave up a normal life to become evil blastin' mechanical heroes, and now they take center stage and prepare to battle. But which heroic champion will prevail, the S-Class Cyborg Superhero or the Mega Rock Man?
Interlude[]
Scythe: Sometimes being a hero means giving one's own life of peace to defend justice. And sometimes, that means augmentations.
Soul: ROBOT PARTS! Like with Genos, the Cyborg Hero from One Punch Man!
Scythe: And Rock, the Blue Bomber better known as Mega Man.
Soul: He's Scythe and I'm Soul!
Scythe: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Genos[]
Scythe: Before he was known as the "Demon Cyborg", before he was sidekick the strongest hero in the world, Genos was your average 15 year old boy living with his family peacefully.
Soul: But with a name like that, and the fact this is anime, you know that won't last.
Genos: Background[]
- Name: Genos
- Alias: Demon Cyborg
- Height: 5'10" | 178cm
- Weight: N/A
- Age: 19
- Hero Rank: S-Class
- Likes learning, cleaning, sardines in oil
- Ironically dislikes complicated electronics
- Student to Saitama
Soul: Anyways, one day a deranged cyborg came along and blew everything up. And I mean everything. His friends, family, the entire town really.
Scythe: Left the only survivor, Genos was found by the scientist named Doctor Kuseno, and Genos had one request:
Soul: "Turn me into the most badass cyborg ever so I can have revenge!" And the guy did it! Man I wish I was a cyborg.
Scythe: Aren't you literally a grim reaper? Why would you want to be a cyborg?
Soul: I can have dreams asshole! Anyways, soon enough began wandering Genos wandering the world looking for that enemy cyborg before meeting this weird bug lady. It uh...didn't go so well for him. But then Saitama showed up and one punched it, so Genos decided to ask him to train him.
Scythe: And eventually, Saitama agreed.
Genos: Arsenal[]
- Sticky adhesive
- Arm blades
- Detachable body parts
- Hyper sensors/Search eye
- Arms Mode
- Incinerator Cannons
- Maximum Gauge Incineration Cannon
- Spiral Incinerator Blast
- Ultra Helix Incinerator
- Thunder Drill Cannon
- Lightning eye
- High Voltage Fist
- Missiles
- Rocket boosters
- Jet Dive Arrow
- Self Destruct
Scythe: Genos is an overall well-rounded fighter, thanks to his cybernetic parts, allowing him to pummel foes with her robotic arms. He can sprout blades from the side of his arms, fire an ultra-sticky adhesive from his boots, and even detach and remotely control his limbs.
Soul: He can scan up to the smallest details with his sensors and search eye, he's got a built in taser to shock foes, missiles stored in his arms, rocket boosters, and my personal favorite: the Incinerator Cannon.
Scythe: The Incinerator Canon is very impressive in it's own regards. He can fire concentrated fire blasts from both his palms which can eradicate entire buildings. He can further amp them up with the Spiral Incinerator Cannon, Ultra Helix Cannon, and Thunder Drill Cannon, which was powerful enough to stop Psykos.
Soul: Long story short, guy was about to blast Tasukami, ya know, the psychic lady, and Genos fired an attack that stopped and redirected it, then matched Psykos in power.
Scythe: Thanks to these calculations, we know that Genos, maximum power output here is around 36.4 Petatons of TNT. That's enough power to destroy multiple continents.
Soul: Man, it's a wonder he ever loses!
Genos: Feats & Faults[]
- +Saved Tastumaki from Psykos
- +Matched a blast worth 36.4 Petatons of TNT
- +Knocked aside Elder Centipede
- +Targeted & struck a falling meteor
- +Can keep up with Tatsumaki's speed
- +Survived burial under 65 trillion mosquitoes
- +Fought Speed-o'-Sound Sonic and Sea King
- +Defeated G4, Armored Gorilla, Awakened Cockroach, Face Ripper, Forest King
- -Really, really cocky
- -Often lets his guard down
- -Tends to be ready to blow himself up
Soul: He's defeated giant centipedes, matched Tatsumaki in speed-
Scythe: That's roughly Mach 35 for those wondering.
Soul: And survived being buried over 65 trillion mosquitoes, which is a fate even I wouldn't wish on someone. Plus, he's beaten some high profile supervillains and once shot a meteor. Genos is pretty powerful.
Scythe: But he's not perfect. Genos is rather reckless, often losing at least a limb nearly every time he fights. And then there's his powercore, which is rather durable, but limited in power and needs to recharge. And that's assuming he doesn't just blow himself up first.
Soul: But despite all that, he's still got time to be popular with the ladies, enjoy a bowl of noodles, and still just hang out. Maybe he hasn't found the guy who destroyed his family, but with a friend like Saitama...I'm sure he'll be alright.
Mega Man[]
Scythe: Doctor Thomas Light was a man who had a dream. A dream where humans and robots lived together in peace and harmony. He developed the robot masters to achieve this, robots with AI so advanced they were practically human.
Soul: Then his former lab buddy Doctor Wily stole most of them, reprogrammed them all, and tried to take over the world. Thus began the war of the machines.
Scythe: Hope seemed lost. That was, until Doctor Light's own lab partner, a robot named Rock, stepped up and offered to become a hero who would protect the world. He offered to become...Mega Man.
Mega Man: Background[]
- Real Name: Rock
- Serial Number: DLN-001
- Height: 4'4" | 132 cm
- Weight: 230 lbs | 105 kg
- Species: Robot
- The only iteration of Mega Man to have blue eyes
- His soccer skills would surprise you
- Met Sonic the Hedgehog, twice
Scythe: With a strong sense of justice in hand, Mega Man stepped up to duel the deranged doctor for the fate of the world.
Soul: Clever wordplay. Anyways, Mega Man's most well known for his trademark weapon, the Mega Buster! This famous arm cannon is powered by solar energy that rapid fire weaker attacks, or charge up to rip through robot master ass like it's nothing!
Scythe: The Mega Buster is easily Mega Man's most iconic weapon, but it's true versatility comes in the variable weapons system. With it, Mega Man can copy the powers of any robotic foe and add it to his own, making him one of the most versatile fighters we've seen on Death Battle.
Mega Man: Arsenal[]
- Mega Buster
- Variable Weapons System
- Melee Weapons
- Pile Driver, Flame Sword, Slash Claw, Top Spin, Tengu Blade
- Physical Projectiles
- Metal Blade, Hard Knuckle, Concrete Shot, Astro Crush, Magnet Missiles
- Elemental Weapons
- Atomic Fire, Blazing Torch, Magma Bazooka, Scramble Thunder, Thunder Beam, Thunder Claw, Ice Slasher, Ice Wall, Tundra Storm, Tornado Blow, Water Wave
- Barriers
- Skull Barrier, Mirror Buster, Acid Barrier, Leaf Shield
- Explosives
- Hyper Bomb, Napalm Bomb, Chain Blast, Crash Bomber, Commando Bomb
- Miscellaneous
- Time Stop, Super Arm, Flash Stopper, Gravity Hold, Copy Vision, Black Hole Bomb
- Melee Weapons
- Double Gear System
- Power Gear
- Speed Gear
- Double Gear Technique
Scythe: Mega Man's arsenal is numerous and we'd be here all day trying to name every single one, so we'll try and cover the most important ones. (Ahem) He possesses numerous elemental weapons like the Atomic Fire, Ice Slasher, and Thunder Beam which works mostly as normal with just an elemental effect. He can send electricity along the ground, create ice walls, arc his fire, and even create localized blizzards.
Soul: He can slash you with weapons like the Slash Claw, Flame Sword, Top Spin, Pile Driver, and Tengu Blade. If solid projectiles are your thing, try the Metal Blades, Hard Knuckle, Concrete Shot, or Magnet Missiles. He can summon meteors, has enough bombs to make Tails the Fox embarrassed, and can counter projectiles with his Skull Barrier and Mirror Buster.
Scythe: Mega Man can stop time, briefly blind foes, double his strength, increase and decrease gravity, double himself, and shoot out localized singularities-
Soul: Mini-Black Holes!
Scythe: ...right. And in dire situations, Mega Man can utilize the Double Gear system. This augmentation is designed to double the output of Mega Man's speed and power respectively. He can only use one at a time...unless he's damaged and in a dire situation, where he activates them both at the same time.
Soul: Damn, Mega Man sure rocks...eh?
Scythe: I hate you.
Mega Man: Feats & Faults[]
- +Held up a 60,000 ton tower
- +Defeated foes whose internal temperatures range from 12,000*C to Absolute Zero
- +Brought down the evil genius Dr. Wily more than 20 times
- +Fought Quick Man, who is near light speed
- +Piloted Rush over 3,400 MPH
- +Defeated Bass, Sunstar, Quint, Dr. Wily
- -Special Weapons run on limited ammunition
- -The Double Gear System has a brief cool-down period between uses
- The Double Gear technique cannot be canceled and causes a longer cool-down
- -Arguably naive
Scythe: In what's actually important, Mega Man is strong enough to lift 60,000 ton towers, fast enough to nearly reach light speed, smart enough to actually outsmart Doctor Wily, and has defeated hundreds of robots including Bass, Sunstar, and Quint, who's actually Mega Man from the future.
Soul: Not sure how Quint fits into things when X exists, but let's step back a little. Sunstar was powerful enough to vaporize the Wily Star, and that thing was gigantic!
Scythe: Thankfully, we know that the Wily Star is...well, big. But thanks to this calculation, we know the amount of kinetic energy needed to vaporize it would be 162 Ninatons of TNT.
Soul: Is that even a thing?
Scythe: Simply put, Sunstar was able to output the same amount of power as dwarf star, true enough to his name.
Soul: For real!? Mega Man sounds invincible!
Scythe: Well don't get it twisted. Pretty much all of Mega Man's special weapons run on limited ammunition and will run out eventually. He's pretty naive sometimes, and the Double Gear System has to cool down between uses, else Mega Man risks overheating. While he can cancel it, the same cannot be said for the Double Gear Technique, which cannot be stopped and will actually briefly deplete the power of the Mega Buster.
Soul: Eh, what's life without a little risk?
Scythe: Flaws aside, Rock certainly left behind the legacy of a hero to be picked up by many worthy heroes. Wherever there is injustice, there will also be the Mega Man.
Battle[]
Scythe: Alright the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.
Soul: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!
City Ruins
Mega Man flies through the ruins of a city atop Rush, glancing around at the ground below him. As he does, he cannot help but remember what the transmission from Doctor Wily said.
Mega Man: A rouge robot master. Maybe I can reason with him, I know Wily would want me to fight him.
Cue K.O. Computer - Therewolf Media
However, Mega Man's thoughts are interrupted as explosions ring out on the empty highway blow him. Flying down, Mega Man sees the robot master throwing Proto Man into the ground before blasting him, and Mega Man rushes to help his brother.
Proto Man: Mega Man?
Mega Man: Proto Man! Here, take Rush back to Doctor Light's lab. I can fight Incineration Man.
Proto Man nods and gets on Rush, flying away as Mega man turns to face his opponent. Genos stands there, arched forwards and ready to attack.
Genos: You are the blue robot I am here for.
Mega Man: Hey, we don't have to be enemies.
Genos: Yes. We do.
Genos flies forwards as he holds his hand out, aiming it at Mega Man as the Blue Bomber runs forwards with the Mega Buster out, both combatants charging up their respective attacks.
The Mega Buster and Incineration Cannon both fire, colliding with each other and creating an explosion of smoke that Genos leaps through, aiming to kick Mega Man in the face. However, the Blue Bomber slides under him and fires the Mega Buster again. Genos turns around and deflects the weaker energy blasts before firing his Incineration Cannon again, and Mega Man leaps back to avoid the attack.
Taking aim, Mega Man fired a charged shot to push Genos back, adding a bit of distance between them. Closing his eyes, Mega Man began tapping into his Variable Weapons System before throwing a Metal Blade, Genos barely dodging to the side as the blade grazed the edge of his arms. Looking back ahead, Genos's eyes widened as he saw more of the flying buzz-saw disks coming right for him.
Jumping into the air, Genos blasts at the oncoming projectiles before launching himself straight at Mega Man, punching the robot in the jawline before kicking him back. He followed it up with several blasts from his Incineration Cannon, Mega Man blocking the attacks before forming the Skull Barrier, causing the oncoming blasts to bounce off it.
Genos: What? How'd you do that?
Mega Man: Sorry. I'm afraid I can't tell you!
The barrier dropped as Mega Man threw out a few Chain Bombs, letting them link together before he fired a Crash Bomb onto Genos's face. Firing a few additional ones out onto the ground, Mega Man leapt off the highway ruins before firing a Commando Bomb upwards. Genons pulls the Crash Bomb off his face as he looks around at all the explosives. He carefully steps forwards...
Only for the Commando Bomb to fly down and explode, triggering the rest of them to all explode in a massive detonation. Mega Man looks up assuming it's done when Genos suddenly leaps down and kicks him into a building with the Jet Dive Arrow.
Genos: Clever Trick.
Running ahead, Mega Man fires out his Magnet Missiles at Genos, who counters by forming his arm blades to slice through them before he gets in close to Mega Man and punches him with his High Voltage Fist. Mega Man grunts before firing his Thunder Claw, Genos grabbing and throwing it to fling Mega Man into the ground again.
Activating Arms Mode, Genos throwing another punch that Mega Man stops with the Super Arm to match Genos in physical strength, if only for a moment before Genos drew his fist back before slamming it into Mega Man's face, then putting both his arms together and fired the Spiral Incineration Cannon.
Mega Man however, activated the Speed Gear for a moment and leaped out of the way, running ahead and slashing Genos with the Slash Claw. Genos grunted and backflipped away from Mega Man, spraying his sticky adhesive to capture the Blue Bomber. And it would have worked, had Mega Man not stopped it in mid-air with the Concrete Shot.
Genos growled as he began rapid firing projectiles, Mega Man using the Mirror Buster to reflect them away before he ran ahead and sent out the Blazing Torch, Genos using his Cannon to stop the incoming fire attack. However, that just let him open to the Ice Slasher, freezing his torso long enough for Mega Man to blast him with the Thunder Beam. As Genos stumbled back, Mega Man got in close and cut one of the robot's arms off with the Flame Sword.
Mega Man: It's over. Stand down, and I can help you.
Genos: Sorry, but I can't afford to lose.
Suddenly, Genos's dismembered arm grabbed Mega Man's Buster, yanking him in the other direction so Genos landed a free blast from arm mounted Missiles before he kicked Mega Man back, reattaching his arms. Mega Man looked up as Genos flew at him, activating the Power Gear for a moment as he used the Tundra Storm to encase the surrounding area in Ice and Snow. Genos froze for a moment as he forced himself through it, firing more from his Incineration Cannon to keep the pressure on Mega Man.
Mega Man himself grunted as he threw the Tengu Blade at Genos, then followed it up with the Magma Bazooka to really throw Genos back. Readying the Ultra Helix Incinerator, Genos threw his adhesive out again and managed to actually grab Mega Man's foot, the Blue Bomber tugging on it before suddenly getting blasted through a building and into a wall.
Still slightly dazed from the attack, Mega Man grunted repeatedly as he was suddenly getting beaten against a wall by Genos. Firing a random weapon from the Mega Buster, both fighters suddenly felt a harsh pull on them from the Black Hole Bomb behind both of them, Genos sticking one hand into the wall before throwing Mega Man into it. Turning, Genos then charged up his Thunder Drill Cannon and fired it straight into the mini singularity.
Mega Man however, activated his Time Stopper just seconds before getting hit. Leaping out of the singularity's pull, Mega Man took a deep breath and gripped both of his hands before a red and blue aura surrounded him.
Mega Man: DOUBLE GEAR!
Time resumed and the singularity exploded, Genos getting rocketed back by it as it did. He assumed Mega Man was dead, only to gasp as he saw the Blue Robot charging at him. Genos fired a few blasts Mega Mans swiftly dodged, suddenly appearing behind Genos and firing the ultimate Charged Shot...
Which Blew Genos to smithereens, ripping through his chest and causing it to completely explode along with his power. Genos barely had time to process the explode before his entire sense of self went black, his lifeless head and arms going flying.
Walking over, Mega Man lowered his head before kneeling down and placing a hand on Genos's arm, taking the Incineration Cannon for his own before vanishing in a blue light.
Results[]
Cue Mega Man 2 Medley - Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Soul: MEGA MAN! THE SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT!
Scythe: This was a fascinating match-up. Surprisingly, Genos was actually the physically stronger of the two, as while Mega Man held up that 60,000 ton tower, Genos survived being crushed by 65 trillion Mosquitoes, which would equate to three hundred and fifty-eight thousand tons.
Soul: Plus his experience being a superhero was enough to match the Mega Man's and keep things interesting. However, he obviously lost for some pretty good reasons.
Scythe: Right. First off, Mega Man's arsenal dwarfed Genos. Seriously, the amount of Special Weapons he had was absurd, more than enough to counter anything Genos sent his way. He could reflect Genos's Incineration Cannon with his Barriers and Mirror Buster, stop his adhesive with the concrete shot, match Genos's missiles with his own, you get the idea.
Soul: Genos may have been fast enough to match mach 35 speeds, but Mega Man can nearly reach light speed.
Scythe: That's almost 670,616,629 miles per hour, which is far faster than the 26,950 miles per hour Genos is moving at. Plus, it should go without saying Mega Man defeating Sunstar is far beyond Genos matching Psykos.
Soul: One's blowing up a couple continents, the other a dwarf star. Mega Man was way more powerful, and this is without the Double Gear system.
Scythe: Plus, Genos has little way around many of Mega Man's weapons like the Time Stop, Flash Stopper, Tundra Storm, Gravity Hold, and Black Hole Bomb.
Soul: Even if Genos tried blowing himself up, Mega Man would probably just shrug it off more annoyed then hurt. Sure, Mega Man's weapons run on limited ammo and cooldowns, but when the difference in power, speed, durability, versatility, and skill were this massive. Genos just didn't Rock enough to Mega Bust through this fight.
Scythe: The winner is Mega Man.
Next Time[]
"NEXT TIME OOOOOON DEATH BATTLE!"
A field lay barren, populated only by different swords stabbed into the ground.
"I am the bone of my sword. Steel is my body and fire is my blood. I have created over a thousand blades. Unaware of loss. Nor aware of gain. Withstood pain to create weapons, waiting for one’s arrival. I have no regrets. This is the only path. My whole life was Unlimited Blade Works."
A golden sword lay stabbed into the ground admits them before flies from the ground.
"I have family in Hoshido. I also have family in Nohr. Even if I were to lose everything... Even if they all despise me... I can't choose to side with one against the other. I simply can't do that. I don't care if I lose everything. This is what I've decided."
