Gallantmon palator

Description: Gallantmon vs. Palator. Two powerful lance and shield wielding royal knights who stand for justice, preservation, and the greater good.

Introduction[]

Wiz: Knights are often depicted as being loyal and honorable warriors who fight for what’s right and just.

Boomstick: And these two badass good guys stand at the pinnacle of power and knighthood.

Wiz: Gallantmon, one of the 12 Royal Knights who upholds peace, law, and order in the Digital World.

Boomstick: And Palator, the most powerful of all Foodons, who’s the Embodiment of Light and Goodness. He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick.

Wiz: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and power to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Gallantmon[]

Wiz: In another dimension, there is a place called the Digital World; a dimension made entirely of data.

Boomstick: And the primary guardians of this world are the 12 Royal Knights, sworn to uphold the balance, fight against the darkness, and defend law and order.

Wiz: Among the Royal Knights is Gallantmon, or Dukemon in the original Japanese dub. A powerful Mega level Digimon who is called a guardian deity of the Net, despite having a Virus attribute.

  • Background
    • Age: unknown/varies between media
    • Height: varies
    • Holds the titles of “Crimson Knight” and “Sky-Conquering Armored Lancer”
    • One of the 12 Royal/Holy Knights
    • A Mega level Digimon whose power far exceeds that of an average Mega
    • Has a contradictory nature since he’s a Virus type
    • Can be born from Guilmon Bio-Merging with his Tamer

Boomstick: Quick question, which Gallantmon are we referring to? ‘Cause there are various version throughout the Digimon series.

Wiz: For this scenario, we’ll mostly be looking at the one that appeared in Digimon Tamers, which is actually the more well-known version of Gallantmon in the various series, but is equally as strong as his counterparts. In fact, it can actually be argued that since Digimon with human partners are more powerful than Digimon without one, this version of Gallantmon is actually the strongest.

Boomstick: So we’re basically talking about the one who was partners with that Takato kid, but will also be including the feats and displays of power of the other Gallantmon too. Got it.

Wiz: Upon being chosen to become a Digimon Tamer, Digimon fan Takato Matsuki was able to bring his own Digimon creation to life. Thus resulted in the birth of Guilmon.

Boomstick: Don’t let the adorable dinosaur look fool you, this guy’s packing a lot of power, even more so when he Digivolves.

Wiz: Through the process of Digivolving, Guilmon is able to evolve into more powerful versions of himself, each form being monumentally more powerful than the last. His most powerful form though comes from merging with Takato in a process called Bio-Merging, allowing the two of them to become one being in the form of Gallantmon, where the two of them work together with Takato controlling Gallantmon.

Boomstick: I’m still trying to figure out how a dinosaur turns into a freakin’ knight.

Wiz: Not just a knight, but a Royal Knight. These were a group of some of the most powerful Mega level Digimon around, founded by Imperialdramon Paladin Mode to fight to preserve peace and balance, most notably against their rivals, the Seven Great Demon Lords.

Boomstick: Couldn’t have chosen anyone better for the job. The Royal Knights are as badass as they get, and Gallantmon is one of the best.

  • Powers and Abilities
    • Attacks - Lightning Joust, Shield of the Just, Saber Shot, Spiral Saber, Gram Slash, Gallant Charge, Shield Attack, Lightning Charge, Gram Strike
    • Flight
    • Super strength
    • Super speed
    • Skilled in hand-to-hand combat
    • Holy armor made of 99.9% Chrome Digizoid
    • Controls the Flying Dragon machine ZERO-ARMS: Grani
    • Possesses the holy lance, Gram, and the holy shield, Aegis
    • Can Digivolve further with Grani (Crimson Mode) or an X-Antibody (Gallantmon X)

Wiz: Gallantmon possesses a deep sense of righteousness, and chivalry, and is extremely loyal to his lord, though this can make him dangerous. If Gallantmon believes something is right, he will go to almost any lengths to fight for it, even, if necessary, turn against Yggdrasil, who is a godly being of the Digital World, or even fight against a Digimon Sovereign.

Boomstick: Kind of like how Takato and Guilmon fought against Zhuqiaomon on equal ground before their fight was interrupted.

Wiz: This was due to a… misunderstanding regarding the catalyst, which the Digimon Sovereigns needed in order to combat the D-Reaper. But once they put their differences aside, they joined forces to fight against this being that had come to be known as the Chaos, who went on to delete over 40% of the Digital World, and then set its sights on the real world.

Boomstick: But Gallantmon wasn’t having any of that, and he and his friends fought against the D-Reaper and its agents, even taking out some of its strongest ones. And these things were literally designed for the sole purpose of killing even the strongest of Digimon.

  • Feats
    • Flew faster than the speed of light
    • Defeated Beelzemon in battle (not the true Demon Lord Beelzemon)
    • Destroyed some of the D-Reaper’s top agents (in and out of Crimson Mode)
    • Defeated an army of Parasimon (in Crimson Mode)
    • Fought on equal ground with Zhuqiaomon and Omnimon
    • Defeated the DATS team
    • Resisted being deleted by ZeedMillenniummon
    • Survived the Digital World being reset (as Gallantmon X)
    • Kept the real world and the Digital World from colliding (with help)

Wiz: Gallantmon is incredibly powerful, and has a wide range of attacks. With his Lighting Joust, he can fire bursts of lightning. His Spiral Saber allows him to summon forth a fire tornado. And he has numerous other forms of attacks using his lance and shield.

Boomstick: But all that’s nothing compared to his ultimate attack, Shield of the Just.

Wiz: This consists of Gallantmon concentrating light energy into his shield and then unleashing a powerful beam that purifies everything in its path. But even this isn’t the limit to Gallantmon’s power.

Boomstick: See this dragon looking thing, that’s called Grani, and its strong enough to defeat some of the strongest of the D-Reaper's agents. By merging with Grani, Gallantmon can enter Crimson Mode, an even more badass and powerful version of himself with even stronger attacks and superior flying skills.

Wiz: In Crimson Mode, Gallantmon has defeated D-Reaper agents that were otherwise impossible to defeat, and he even managed to destroy an entire army of Mega level Parasimon who were invading the real world.

Boomstick: He also gains even stronger attacks. He can use his Final Justice, a.k.a. his Quo Vadis, attack to dissolve a target into electrons and banish them to oblivion within another dimension, whither thou canst not follow.

Wiz: …Um, ‘whither thou canst not follow’?

Boomstick: Hey, that’s what his profile says about his attack. Seriously though, who talks like that?

Wiz: Unfortunately, Crimson Mode only lasts for a short while, and after it’s used, Gallantmon is left tired and drained of energy.

Boomstick: But that’s ok, because Gallantmon still has one more trick up his sleeve, if he can get ahold of an X-Antibody that is.

Wiz: When Digivolving with an X-Antibody, Gallantmon can become Gallantmon X, an even more powerful and evolved version of Gallantmon. Of course, this power only lasts as long as he retains possession of the X-Antibody. But even if he loses it, he’ll still retain some of its power, resulting in him becoming MedievalGallantmon. And while not as strong as Gallantmon X, he is still stronger than regular Gallantmon.

Boomstick: And he has the power to fire dragon-shaped energy waves from his lance.

Wiz: But despite all Gallantmon’s power and his righteous nature, he's still a Virus type Digimon, which typically have violent natures, and are known for going bad. Should Gallantmon’s Virus nature awaken and overtake him, Gallantmon can become ChaosGallantmon, a corrupt evil version of Gallantmon.

Boomstick: You’d think that when choosing someone to defend the peace, you’d pick someone who wasn’t susceptible to darkness.

Wiz: A fair point, but based on Gallantmon’s nature, this is very unlikely to happen, and in the case of Takato and Guilmon merging, since Takato and Guilmon’s consciences are separate, despite them being one being, should anything go wrong with Gallantmon, Takato’s consciousness would be able to prevent Gallantmon from going bad.

Boomstick: Good thing too, because this is definitely not someone you want to be on the other end of the lance of.

Palator[]

Wiz: In an alternate version of Earth, there was an eccentric king who, one day, wondered which of the meals prepared for him that evening was stronger.

Boomstick: And so an even more eccentric chef used magic cards called Meal Tickets to bring the king’s dinner to life and had them fight each other. Yeah, not kidding.

Wiz: And thus began what would come to be known as Foodon Battles, and a whole new way of life for the people, especially chefs.

Boomstick: We’re no strangers to monster battle themed anime, but turning food into monsters and having them fight to the death is certainly a new one. Seriously, who thought of this?

Wiz: In the world of Fighting Foodons, chefs cook up meals and then use Meal Tickets to bring their food to life. Sometimes as companions, sometimes as pets, but more often than not, for battle.

Boomstick: And for some reason, a lot of them have human bodies with food for a head, or they’re some weird cross between animals, monsters, objects, and whatever meal they originally were. Really though, who the heck thought of this?

Wiz: The superior the meal, the stronger the Foodon born from it will be, typically given a one to five star rating to measure its power. And even among Foodons of the same, um… species, the better prepared meal results in the Foodon being superior.

Boomstick: And the number one head honcho is this guy, Palator, who’s based on… What kind of food is he based on?

  • Background
    • Age: unknown
    • Height: varies
    • The Foodon Embodiment of Light and Goodness
    • A Deluxe Foodon born from the fusion of a Dish Wizard and their Foodons
    • Is controlled/hosted by a Dish Wizard
    • Currently, made of Fried Ricer, Sir Dumpling, Shrimp Daddy, Dim-Sumthin’ Special, and Burnt Meatballs
    • Fueled by the power of goodness
    • Name is a pun on paladin and pallet
    • The most powerful Foodon in existence

Wiz: Unlike most Foodons, Palator doesn’t seem to be made directly from a food, but rather is born by a Dish Wizard merging with their Foodons.

Boomstick: A Dish what now?

Wiz: Dish Wizards are master chefs with magic powers who have the ability to create Five Star Foodons, the most powerful kinds of Foodons after Deluxe Foodons. Since Palator’s existence is known, it seems he has been created before, but in his only appearance in the series, it was the series protagonist, Chase Makunouchi, who was the Dish Wizard that ended up merging with his Foodons to created Palator in order to save the world from the evil King Gorgeous Gorge.

  • Powers and Abilities
    • Flight
    • Super speed
    • Super strength
    • Shield and lance
    • Primary attack – Fireballs of Goodness
    • Shoots energy beams from lance
    • Light attacks and barriers
    • Flames of goodness
    • Highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat
    • Immune to heat and fire due to the Burnt Meatballs
    • Absorbs the energy from those who are good to become stronger

Boomstick: What kind of name is Gorgeous Gorge?

Wiz: It's actually more of a title. But names aside, King Gorge was a very powerful sorcerer who waged a war across the entire world, forming the Glutton Empire, and enslaving countless others with mind control magic. He was eventually able to create the second most powerful Foodon, Devouron, the very embodiment of darkness and evil, who’s fueled by an entire dark nebula, which basically made Devouron as powerful as a star, possibly even an entire a galaxy.

Boomstick: Doesn’t seem that threatening considering Palator beat him pretty easily.

Wiz: That’s more of a display of just how powerful Palator is. And we haven’t gotten into his what he’s truly capable of.

Boomstick: Yeah, he can move at speeds fast enough to disappear from sight. He can deflect meteors with his aura alone. And he was completely unfazed when struck by Devouron’s Dark Lasers fired at full power, and that energy comes straight from the dark nebula itself. He can also expel more energy to increase his size.

Wiz: Palator’s true power, however, comes from sharing the energy of all those who are on the side of good, allowing him to absorb their power and use it for himself. Since he’s the embodiment of good, and as such is connected to every living being who possess goodness within them, he can gain the strength and power of everyone and everything in the world and use their power for his own. His ultimate attack involves the use of the very core of his being, unleashing a burst of flames fueled with the power of good. With this power, he not only stood against Devouron’s most powerful dark flames without even flinching, but also completely destroyed him in the process without even using his full power.

Boomstick: And that’s really saying something, considering Devouron was able to destroy the legendary Foodon Deluxe, Feastivus, with a single attack, and Feastivus was a freakin’ dragon who’s stronger than even the most powerful of Five Star Foodons.

  • Feats
    • Easily deflected/destroyed hundreds of meteors with his aura alone
    • Easily overpowered the power of the dark nebula
    • Effortlessly overpowered and destroyed Devouron with his flames
    • Absorbed all the energy of the people in the world
    • Permanently evolved Fried Ricer into Super Fried Ricer
    • Telepathically communicated to multiple people across the planet at once
    • Was unharmed after being struck by lasers fueled by the dark nebula
    • Flew from space down to Earth in seconds

Wiz: The only real weakness that Palator has is that while he’s merged with the Dish Wizard who created him, he relies on this person to control him. However, as evident with his mergence with Chase, he’s able to communicate and guide him, allowing his host to easily be able to fight and gain access to Palator’s full power.

Boomstick: But didn’t we see Chase interacting with Palator outside of his body too? Palator was able to move around just fine then.

Wiz: True, but since a Dish Wizard is a core part of what makes up Palator’s being, evidence suggests that his form won’t last long once the two separate, or that Palator at least won’t be as strong without them. And as we saw, he did indeed split back up into the Foodons that made him up shortly after separating from Chase.

Boomstick: Kind of sucks to think that you’re the most powerful being around, yet you’re still reliant on someone else for your power.

Wiz: The truth is that we don’t know all that much about Palator outside of the brief period he made an appearance, nor do we truly know the full extent of his power. Even now, just by going by what we’ve seen during his short appearance, we could still be low-balling him. And with the way that Palator absorbs power from those who are good, his potential could be limitless.

Boomstick: I’m still trying to figure out how a show that turns food into monsters could result in such powerful fighter. Seriously, we went from cooking up monsters with magic cards, to using the evil energy from nebulas, to using the energy of other people and merging wizard kids with food monsters. So once again, I ask, who thought of this!?

Wiz: Probably someone who likes to play with their food?

Boomstick: …

Wiz: Get it? Play with their food? Huh? Huh?

Boomstick: Leave the jokes to me, Wiz.

Interlude[]

Wiz: Alright the combatants are set. Time to end this debate once and for all.

Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!

The Battle[]

Takato is looking for Guilmon, calling out to him as he searches.

Takato: “Guilmon! Guilmon, where are you, boy? Huh?”

He spots Guilmon tail sticking up out of a food cart and hears the sound of Guilmon eating. He hurries over to it.

Takato: “Guilmon, what are you doing?”

Chase: “That’s what I’d like to know!”

Both Takato and Guilmon turn around, the latter with his mouth full, to find Chase standing a distance away.

Chase: “What is your Foodon doing to the M.A.C. Cart? He’s eating all my ingredients!”

Takato and Guilmon exchange confused looks.

Takato: “Um… Foodon? I think there’s been a misunderstanding.”

Chase: “I don’t think so. If you think you’re going to skip out on the check, you’ve got another thing coming. It’s time to pay the bill. Now serving Super Fried Ricer!”

He tosses out a Meal Ticket, and Super Fried Ricer appears. Guilmon hops out of the M.A.C. Cart and is instantly on guard, growling at Super Fried Ricer.

Takato: “Looks like we’ve got a fight on our hand. I don’t recognize that Digimon. Better not take any chances. Bio-Merge Activate!”

Both Takato and Guilmon are consumed by light.

Guilmon: “Guilmon Bio-Merge to… Gallantmon!

Gallantmon appears and points his lance at Chase and Super Fried Ricer. Chase hesitates as he stares at Gallantmon, then takes out several more Meal Tickets.

Chase: “Ok, come out, everyone!”

He throws the Meal Tickets, and Sir Dumpling, Shrimp Daddy, Dim-Sumthin’ Special, and the Burnt Meatballs appear beside Super Fried Ricer. Then Chase begins glowing with energy.

Chase: “Now serving Palator!”

The Foodons all begin glowing as well and begin flying circles around Chase. Then they come together a Palator appears in their place.

Gallantmon: “He can Bio-Merge too? Fine then, let’s do this.”

Palator: “Prepare for battle!”

FIGHT!

Palator charges at Gallantmon and thrusts out with his lance. Gallantmon holds up his shield to block, and Palator’s lance clangs against it, sending out a shockwave that tears apart the ground. He rapidly stabs several times, but Gallantmon’s shield holds. He uses it to knock Palator back, then lunges at him and delivers a kick, sending Palator flying backwards.

Palator halts his momentum, and Gallantmon uses his speed to charge forward, disappearing. Palator appears confused, and looks around, but then notices as Gallantmon suddenly appears directly behind him. He whirls around and holds up his own shield to block Gallantmon’s thrust. The two jump back, then leap at each other again. Both rapidly stab at the other over and over, their lances colliding at speeds nearly too fast to see. Then Gallantmon suddenly does an upward spiral thrust, sending Palator flying into the air.

Gallantmon: “Spiral Saber!

He begins spinning around, forming a fire tornado around himself and sends it up at Palator. The fire tornado surrounds him, but Palator burst free of it, smoking, but unharmed by the flames. He suddenly flies down at Gallantmon with his lance stretched outward, his whole body glowing with energy. Gallantmon leaps out of the way, and Palator hits the ground, creating a massive crater.

Flying up, Palator looks around, and Gallantmon suddenly speeds by, striking him with his lance. He suddenly comes at Palator from a different direction, striking him again. He keeps coming at Palator from different directions, hitting him repeatedly. Finally though, Palator manages to block one of the blows with his shield. He knocks Gallantmon’s lance to the side, then begins smacking him with his shield, knocking him further and further back before thrusting forward with his lance. Gallantmon manages to block with his shield, but is pushed back by the force of the blow.

Gallantmon: “Shield of the Just!

His shield began glowing, and then unleashes a beam that blasts Palator back. Palator goes flying through the air, bouncing across the ground. Gallantmon then uses his Lightning Charge, surrounding himself in a sphere of lightning and charging after Palator.

Palator skids to a halt, then surrounds himself in a golden aura of light and charges at Gallantmon. The two collided together in a stalemate, another crater forming beneath them. The two push against each other as their power tears the land apart around them. Then Palator unleashes his flames in a fiery explosion, knocking Gallantmon away from him.

Palator: “Feel my Fireballs of Goodness!”

He begins launching fireballs at Gallantmon. Gallantmon holds his ground and uses his shield and lance to knock the fireballs away, then counters with his Lightning Joust, sending a blast of lightning at Palator. Palator raises his arms to block his face as the blast hits, and he manages to withstand the attack. Then he points his lance at Gallantmon and fires a continuous beam of energy from it. Gallantmon holds up his shield as the beam hits. He manages to hold the beam back, but it keeps coming, and he begins to slowly skid across the ground.

Gallantmon: “Grani!”

From out of the sky, Grani comes flying in. Opening his mouth, he fires his Yuggoth Blaster. The attack hits Palator, resulting in an explosion that sends him flying. Gallantmon then leaps up onto Grani and they begin flying through the air after him.

Gallantmon: “Now let’s finish this. Saber Shot!

He begins firing balls of lightning from his lance. Palator manages to recover from Grani’s attack and begins flying through the air, dodging the balls of electricity Gallantmon fires at him. He suddenly becomes consumed in a ball of fire and flies straight at Gallantmon and Grani. They fly at him as well, crashing together in an explosion of fire and electricity.

Palator remains triumphant in the air as Gallantmon and Grani fall from the sky. They suddenly begin glowing and come together, becoming Gallantmon Crimson Mode. Then he flies up at Palator, who’s caught off guard by the change in Gallantmon.

Palator: “Foodon Evolution?”

Gallantmon: “Crimson Light!

He throws his spear-lance into the sky above Palator. A beam comes down on him, knocking Palator to the ground and pinning him there. Palator struggles to get up as the beam continues to blast him into the ground, forming a crater around him and causing the ground to crack apart as Gallantmon hovers in the air, watching.

Palator: “Need more power!”

He begins glowing, and flames surround him. With a burst of strength, he leaps to his feet, causing the beam to disperse. Then he flies up to join Gallantmon in the air, still covered in flames. They both begin circling around in the air before flying at each other. Gallantmon’s sword meets Palator’s lance as they collide, and fly past each other. They double back, colliding weapons again, repeatedly coming at each other from different directions, their clashing weapons sending shockwaves through the air. A second before they collide again, Gallantmon suddenly makes a move so fast that time seems to stop. His sword flashes with power as he charges it with energy.

Gallantmon: “Invincible Sword!

Times starts moving again as he brings his glowing sword down, swiping at Palator. This time, Palator holds up his shield. Gallantmon’s sword cuts it in two, but he misses Palator, and instead follows up with a punch that sends Palator flying backwards. Palator stops his momentum, and Gallantmon creates another spear-lance, holding it out towards Palator.

Gallantmon: “Be gone! Final Justice!

He fires a beam from his spear-lance. Palator holds up his own lance and begins glowing with power before becoming a giant fireball, and he charges at Gallantmon. He collides with Gallantmon’s beam, struggling against it for a few moments before forcing his way through the attack. Gallantmon is surprised, and a moment later, Palator collides with him.

Gallantmon goes flying backwards, and suddenly splits from Grani, losing hold of his Crimson Mode and reverting back to normal. He somehow manages to land on his feet, without his lance and shield, using his hands to dig into the ground as he skids across it. He looks up, and witnesses as Grani crashes and explodes.

Gallantmon: “Grani, no!”

From up in the air, Palator points his lance down at him, noting how tired and low on energy Gallantmon looks.

Palator: “It’s over! Surrender!”

Gallantmon glares up at him angrily, then spots something out of the corner of his eyes. It’s an X-Antibody lying on the ground a short distance away. He quickly flies towards it and scoops it up.

Gallantmon: “Not just yet!”

He suddenly becomes Gallantmon X. Palator pulls back in surprise, and Gallantmon X points his lance, now made of pure energy, up at him and uses his Zeig Saber. His lance elongates, stretching up to hit Palator, who goes spinning through the air from the attack. Gallantmon’s lance retracts and he flies after him. With a swipe of his lance, he sends a blast of lightning at Palator, which sends him crashing to the ground. Gallantmon X lands a distance away and holds up his shield as Palator gets to his feet.

Gallantmon X: “It’s all over! Final Elysion!

A beam fires from his shield. Palator no longer has his shield, but summons up his fire aura. Gallantmon X’s beam hits, resulting in a massive explosion. When the blast dies down, Gallantmon X is still firing his beam at Palator, who is attempting to withstand it with his flames. The transparent images of Takato and Guilmon suddenly appear beside Gallantmon X as they shout at Palator.

Takato/Guilmon: “You can’t beat us! This is all of our power!”

Palator still holds his ground, and lowers his arms from shielding his face.

Palator: “Is that so? ‘Cause I’m not even at full strength yet. Now feel the power of all the light and goodness in the world!”

He begins growing at a rapid rate, becoming several times larger, and glowing brightly as his fire aura surrounds him. He unleashes his power, and his flaming aura flows outward. Gallantmon X is blasted back as the flames consume him. When he hits the ground, he suddenly reverts to MedievalGallantmon as the X-Antibody bounces away from him. He doesn’t give up though, and, breathing heavily, gets to his feet, using his new axe-lance for support until he manages to stand on his own. Once he recovers, he points with his axe-lance, and a dragon made of energy emerges from it, hovering over him.

MedievalGallantmon: “That won’t be enough to stop us! No matter what you do, we’ll never-”

Palator’s giant foot suddenly comes down on MedievalGallantmon, crushing him and the energy dragon that had emerged from his axe-lance. Palator lifts his foot, looking at the flattened MedievalGallantmon stuck to the bottom of his foot before he bursts into data. Palator stares at his now clean foot for a few moments before putting it back down.

Palator: “Should have opted to wash dishes if you couldn’t pay the bill.”

KO!

Palator changes back to Chase and his Foodons, who congratulate him as he rubs the back of his head bashfully.

Outcome[]

Boomstick: Hold up, are you telling me that a knight made out of food beat a knight made out of data? Whoa, both of those things felt weird to say.

Wiz: It many seem unlikely, but it’s true. Gallantmon held the speed advantage for sure, and had a greater number of attacks, however not all of them would be affective against Palator, as demonstrated in his battle with Devouron, and his, um, ingredients.

Boomstick: Yeah, I guess Palator is immune to heat and fire after all. And he wasn’t even harmed when he was blasted by lasers that had the power of an entire nebula fueling them. So I guess even lightning wouldn’t even be all that affective.

Wiz: Even if these attacks were affective against him, with Palator being the Foodon Embodiment of Light and Goodness, he possessed the ability to be able to draw on the power of those that were good. And that’s exactly what Gallantmon was. This was essentially what always kept Palator one step ahead of Gallantmon.

Boomstick: So you’re saying that because Gallantmon is a force for good, Palator could basically use Gallantmon’s strength for his own to become stronger.

Wiz: Not just his, but the strength and power of all the good people in the world, humans and Foodons alike, and, in this crossover, Digimon as well. Palator possessed the ability to connect to them all and draw on all their strength.

Boomstick: And since Gallantmon was a good guy, Palator could draw on his strength as well. So Gallantmon was actually making Palator even more powerful with the stronger he became in addition to the strength he was already giving him in his normal form.

Wiz: Put simply, yes. That’s why it didn’t matter what form Gallantmon took or how powerful he became, since Palator would get stronger right along with him, and could use Gallantmon’s own strength against him, so Palator would always remain stronger. Gallantmon was basically fighting someone just as strong as himself, who also had the power of everyone else in the world strengthening him, excluding evil people.

Boomstick: Doesn’t really seem fair. Since Gallantmon is a good guy, and Palator gains his power from good guys, Gallantmon never really stood a chance. We basically made Gallantmon fight against someone who would, by default, always be as strong as him, and also had the power of everyone else who was good backing him up.

Wiz: If it was only two of them in the world and they fought at equal strength, then Gallantmon would likely be the one with the upper-hand with his speed and variety of attacks, but with even a single other living good person in the world, Palator would remain the stronger of the two. And with a planet full of people to also draw power from, Palator would always hold the advantage. However strong Gallantmon was, Palator would be that and more.

Boomstick: Not even if Gallantmon used that dimension banishing ability to send Palator to oblivion?

Wiz: That’s an interesting point to consider. However, even consigned to another dimension, we don’t know if this would sever Palator’s connection to all that is good, so even then his strength might not diminish at all. Even so, it’s a moot point, because Gallantmon would need to be stronger than his opponent in order to banish them like that. And as we already determined, Palator was indefinitely stronger than him.

Boomstick: But what if Gallantmon went bad? Like if his Virus side took over and he becomes ChaosGallantmon like we said could happen.

Wiz: That would change the scenario entirely, because Palator would no longer be able to draw on Gallantmon’s power if he becomes corrupt. In which case, we would need to determine if Palator possesses enough strength to beat him without relying on using Gallantmon’s own strength against him.

Boomstick: So… would he be?

Wiz: It’s hard to say, because even without sharing in Gallantmon’s power, it wouldn’t change the fact that Palator would still have an entire planet, possibly universe, full of good people to draw power from, human or otherwise. Whether that would be enough to defeat ChaosGallantmon would be debatable, and, quite frankly, immeasurable because there would be no way of telling how strong Palator would be since his power depends on how many good people there are in the world. But as we said before, since Takato was also in control of Gallantmon, he would prevent any such corruption from taking place.

Boomstick: But didn’t that Takato kid actually cause him to go bad that one time when he turned him into that freaky dragon thing after Beelzemon killed their lion buddy?

Wiz: You’re talking about the time WarGrowlmon Digivolved to Megidramon. While this is a fair point, it’s completely different than Gallantmon having his Virus nature take over. In this scenario, after witnessing Leomon’s murder, Takato was overcome by rage, and rightly so. He then used his anger and hatred to force WarGrowlmon to Digivolve to Megidramon. However, he instantly regretted doing this, and became more determine than ever to be a better Tamer afterwards, which was actually what allowed him and Guilmon to Bio-Merge to Gallantmon to begin with. Thus, Takato would actually make an even greater effort to prevent Gallantmon from ever becoming corrupt in the future. And as he would be in control of Gallantmon, he would have even more control to be able to stop this from happening, making the chances of Gallantmon succumbing to his Virus nature even less likely to happen, so the possibility of Gallantmon becoming ChaosGallantmon is actually a moot point. Which actually only serves to work in Palator’s favor and allow him to remain the stronger of the two.

Boomstick: I guess when you’re in a no win situation, you simply can’t win.

Wiz: The winner is Palator.
