This is Thelaserman20's 13th death battle.
Description[]
Super Smash Bros: Ultimate Vs. Hollow Knight! These two final bosses show that the light isn't always good, but which embodiment of light will outshine the other?
Interlude[]
Genesis: Galeem, Nintendo's lord of light.
Exodus: And The Radiance, Team Cherry's forgotten godess.
Genesis: Light isn't always good news, and these two prove that!
Exodus: And we're going to analyse their weapons, skills, and armor to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE.
Galeem[]
Genesis: ... Is there even a backstory to this thing?
Exodus: I don't know... I'll check.
(The camera cuts to static)
The Radiance[]
Laser: We're doing Hollow Knight? Heck yeah!
Genesis: Laser, what are you doing here? I thought you were watching Death Battle!
Laser: I was, but then two weirdos fighting over a campfire started playing with lightning and I got caught in the blast.
Exodus: Yeah, that makes sense. I'm guessing it was Dark Souls vs Skyrim, wasn't it?
Genesis: FUS RO DAH!
(A blast of pure sound obliterates the entire area and breaks the camera, causing it to cut to static)
Take 2
Exodus: Okay, we finally fixed the place, so let's get back to what we were going to do.
Backstory[]
Genesis: In the beginning, there was nothing. Nothing but the void, and the light.
Laser: Except in this world, the light is a giant moth goddess, and the void is... a bunch of dead bugs.
Exodus: While the void was not unified and consisted of a group of people, the light was a single being.
Genesis: That being was none other than The Radiance.
Laser: The Radiance's light kept the void at bay and created the Moth Tribe, who in return worshiped her. Hey, Genesis, why didn't you create your own cult?
Genesis: I would have, but the other gods wouldn't have liked that.
Laser: Oh. Yeah, that kind of makes sense.
Exodus: The Radiance's time in the spotlight was short-lived, however, as the Pale King arrived in Hallownest and expanded the minds of his new subjects, which resulted in them turning their backs on their creator and worshiped the King instead. In doing so, the Radiance was almost entirely forgotten.
Genesis: There were only a couple of traces of memories involving the Radiance, such as a statue of her on Hallownest's crown.
Laser: Of course, Radiance wasn't so happy about this, and decided to appear in people's dreams. I think that's why I keep seeing some weird bright light in my sleep...
Genesis: No, that's just me playing Hollow Knight.
Exodus: These dreams were able to break the minds of bugs, and eventually make them enslave their wills to her. However, the Pale King and his subjects resisted her memory, which then became the infamous infection that wrecked havoc on Hallownest.
(Laser is seen holding a glass with an orange liquid inside of it, and motions to drink it. Genesis looks at him in horror as he downs the drink in one gulp.)
Genesis: What. Have. You. Done.
Laser: It's just Fanta. Why would I drink some virus?
Exodus: Well, the infection looks like Fanta, and has a sweet, sickly scent and smell.
Laser: You do know I am completely immune to these types of things? And besides, you can actually eat and drink this stuff without getting infected.
Genesis: You can-
Exodus: He's right. The Hunter ate an infected husk and was perfectly fine, but he didn't like the taste.
Laser: Anyway, the infection offered unity to the bugs at the cost of a mind incapable of thought, and it started to take over numerous citizens of Hallownest.
Exodus: The Pale King, wanting to get rid of the infection, teamed up with the void to get rid of the infection by building a vessel to seal the Radiance inside of.
Genesis: This vessel was going to have no mind, to avoid the Radiance's influence, but when the Pale King found his perfect vessel, he blew his chance at getting rid of the Radiance once and for all by raising the vessel as if it was a normal child.
Laser: This resulted in a thought being instilled into the vessel, which resulted in it no longer being pure, but they sealed it anyway.
Genesis: Honestly, I'm not surprised that it gained emotion, because I'd have a lot of questions if I was raised in a house filled to the brink with buzzsaws, thorns, and spikes.
Exodus: Due to that ONE thought, the Radiance was still able to infect the minds of other bugs. She had wiped out the entire kingdom, who's king had vanished, but left the rest of the land untouched.
Laser: Time passed, Hallownest had turned into a myth while the Radiance remained sealed.
Genesis: Eventually, her influence broke out of the Hollow Knight, allowing the Radiance to re-ignite the infection and threaten the land of Hallownest again.
Exodus: Unfortunately for her, re-igniting the infection resulted in the knight getting an Email telling him to go to Hallownest and seal the infection. Said Knight then killed 3 dreamers, a lot of infected bugs, and The Hollow Knight, allowing the Knight to seal the Radiance away.
Laser: But the Knight's work wasn't done. With the help of Hornet, they sealed the infection a second time, and entered the Hollow Knight's mind. The Knight then challenged and destroyed the Radiance, ending the infection once and for all.
Genesis: If you thought her luck couldn't get worse, the Knight encountered the Godseeker, who summoned the Radiance in her perfect form as part of a ritual, only for the Absolute Radiance to fall to the void given focus, ending the infection once again.
(While Genesis is talking, the knight is shown fighting the Absolute Radiance. Laser looks at the action, worried.)
Laser: Wait, he's about to defeat the Absolute Radiance?
Exodus: Yeah, so?
(The final blow is landed, and the Radiance shrieks as the void unites.)
Laser: Crap...
(Laser is suddenly dragged out of the area and is absorbed by the Void Given Focus.)
Genesis: ... I'm not going to ask.
