Description[]

Naruto VS Pokemon. Which user of sand will prevail? Who will bury who? Stay tuned!

Interlude[]

( Cue ~ Invader - Jim Johnston)

Wiz: Sand. Its found in many places.

Boomstick: The beach, the desert, and even in your shoes. That's the worse!

Wiz: But sand in your shoes is nothing compared to what these sand masters can do.

Boomstick: Gaara, Shinobi of the desert.

Wiz: And Hippowdown, The Heavyweight Champion of the desert. I'm Wizard and he's Boomstick and its our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a death battle.

Gaara[]

( Cue ~ Gaara's Childhood Theme - Naruto)

Wiz: Gaara of the Desert is one of the deadliest Shinobi in the Naruto universe. But like most anime protagonsists, his origin story doesn't start off all kittens and rainbows.

Boomstick: Gaara's the son of the Fourth Kazekage, leader of Sunagakure. Gaara was born prematurely at the cost of his mother's life. Hey, that actually does sound like Guts.

Wiz: Not completely, but I'll get to that later. During his birth, however his father had a crazy idea.

Boomstick: Sunagakure had heavy cuts to its budget, so his dad decided to make him a jinichuriki, humans with talied beasts within them.

Wiz: However,  his first two children were not compatible. Gaara, on the other hand, was compatible, and so, the Tailed Beast known as Shukaku was sealed within him.

Boomstick: Unfortunately, they should've waited until he was born because they sealed the monster in Gaara while he was still in his mother's womb, causing the death of his mother and his premature birth.

Wiz: Shukaku is a Tailed beast with power over sand. And because Shukaku loathes humanity, Gaara had difficulty controlling the monster's power, frightening the other villagers and causing his isolation.

Boomstick: And because of this, Gaara swore he'd only care and fight for himself. But then some group of people decided to pull the monster out of him for good, killing him.

Wiz: However, while you'd think this was a bad thing, those people were actually doing Gaara a favor. Gaara reavaluated his life. Insipred by Naruto Uzumaki, who went through the same problem as him, Gaara began to understand compassion and his people started supporting him.

( Cue ~ Seeking Answers - Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3)

Boomstick: Well, good thing that losing Shukaku didn't mean losing his control over sand. Gaara's control over sand is impressive considering his Jutsus, techniques of a ninja. Gaara also carries a Gourd of Sand just in case. He can also use the sand on him to smash the ground, creating more sand, leaving him with plenty of ammo.

Wiz: He can use these Jutsus with Chakra, spiritual energy Shinobi access for Superhuman abilities. This includes Desert Suspension, a move where Gaara can fly through the air with a sand version of Goku's flying cloud. Its speed is so great that it can match that of Might Guy's in his Eight Gates Released Formation, which temporarily makes him 100 times stronger and faster than normal.

Boomstick: Now that's fast! He's also got his Prison Sand Burial, where he manages to  loosen the ground and bury the victim within them. The sand glued to their limbs applies pressre on the body, practically paralyzing them.

Wiz: Gaara can also adjust the sand's density to make it harder than steel or softer than air. A prime example of this is argueably his best defensive move, the Air Sand Protective Wall, which can stop explosions that can wipe out whole villages.

Boomstick: But that's not the only defense he has up his sleeve.

Wiz: Remeber how I said that his birth circumstances weren't like Guts'. Its because that with her dying breath, Gaara's mother put some of her own power into the sand, making it living sand. This "sand" will come out of the gourd to protect Gaara from all forms of injuries, even self-inflicted ones.

Boomstick: This absolutely defensive technique is known as the Absolute Defense.

Wiz: Gaara can also send it into another person's bloodstream to control their movements.

Boomstick: Gaara has managed to battle and defeat his father, who happened to be a zombie at the time. His father used a magnetic release ability to control gold dust. And when Gaara defeated his dad, he added the Gold Dust to his gourd sand.

Wiz: Gaara was able to command the Allied Shinobi Forces, and became Kazekage like his father. Speaking of his father, in their fight, his father actually mistook Gaara for Shukaku, even though the monster was long gone.

Boomstick: But while Gaara's Chakra is impressive, if he overstrains himself, he'll kill himself.

Wiz: But Gaara has proven time and time again that even without Shukaku, Gaara is still the ultimate Shinobi of the sand.

A person running from Gaara's sand is caught and is pulled back into the dark hallway, screams loudly as Naruto and Shikamaru looked on paralyzed in place, Gaara then silently approaches them from behind and walks past them.

Hippowdon[]

Boomstick: There are many known big and bulky Ground-type Pokemon including Donphan, Torterra, and Mamoswine. But there's also Hippowdon.

Wiz: Hippowdown is a pure Ground type Pokemon. Those holes in Hippowdon's body are used to store sand nas a means of a towering twister attack.

Boomstick: This towering twister attack is known as Sand Tomb, a move where Hippowdon traps the foe in sand, damaging it and rendering it incapable of escape.

Wiz: Hippowdon can also use Sand Attack to lower a foe's accuracy. It can also make foes flinch with Bite and lower Defenses with Crunch.

Boomstick: Hippowdon can hit hard with Tackle, and hit even harder with Double-Edge and and Take Down.

Wiz: Unfortunately, these moves are so powerful, they cause 25% of the damage the opponent takes to hurt the user.

Boomstick: So its basically one of those "can't contain their own power" kind of moves?

Wiz: Yep.

Boomstick: I always thought those were dumb. Anyways, Hippowdon also has access to the Elemental fangs. It can use Thunder Fang to flinch or paralyze, Fire Fang to flinch or burn, and even Ice Fang to flinch and freeze.

Wiz: Burns can half the strength of attacks and make a victim slowly lose health. Paralysis decreases speed and can sometimes render the foe incapable of moving, and Freeze keeps the Pokemon from moving at all.

Boomstick: Hippowdon can also put his foes to sleep with Yawn.

Wiz: But Hippowdon's best moves are Earthquake and Fissure. With Earthquake and Fissure, Hippowdon can affect and deal double the damage to Pokemon underground.

Boomstick: But Fissure's way better. It can literally one-shot anyone.

Wiz: However, due to its destructive power, Fissure has an accuracy of 30%.

Boomstick: How bad is that accuracy, you may ask? Well, Inferno has an accuracy of 50% and I only hit a Pokemon with that move once my whole life!

Wiz: Well, at least Hippowdon has the abiliy Sand Stream. With it, Hippowdon is able to summon a Sandstorm for five turns that damages any type except for Ground, Rock, and Flying. Hippowdon has an Attack of 112 and a Defense of 118, making it a great physical fighter, which compliments its Physical movepool.

Boomstick: On top of all that, Hippowdon's jaws can crush a whole car.

Wiz: But while Hippowdon is a great Physical fighter, its Specail Attack and Special Defense are something to be desired. And like most heavy Ground-types, Hippowdon's Speed sucks with a mere 47. Its also weak to Grass, Water, and Ice type moves.

Boomstick: But this good ol Ground type is still a physical keeper.

Bertha sends out her shiny Hippowdon.

Pre-Death Battle[]

Wiz: Alright! The combatants are set. Lets end this debate once and for all.

Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Death Battle[]

Gaara was wandering through the forest until he ended up in a desert. He decided that this was the perfect place to train. However, he heard a roar from the Heavyweight Pokemon known as Hippowdon.

Gaara: Calm down, creature. I mean you no harm.

But this Hippowdon was itching for a fight and charged towrds Gaara. Gaara jumped up and turned around.

Gaara: Well, I guess we're doing this now!

Fight!

Hippowdon activated its Sand Stream ability and summoned a sandstorm.

Gaara: This is too easy.

Gaara stuck out his hand and took control of Hippowdon's sandstorm and shaped the sand into bullets and fired them at Hippowdon from all directions. Hippowdon used Tackle, but Gaara made the sand beneath one of Hippowdon's legs softer and caught it. Gaara did the same for Hippowdon's other legs and activated Desert Suspension and flew into the air. Two hands emerged from the sand that Gaara was on and started punching Hippowdon's sides.

Gaara let go of Hippowdon. Hippowdon fired a Sand attack from its nose, but Gaara caught it and turned it into a fist that hit Hippowdon's face. Hippowdon then used Sand Tomb, but Gaara took control of this sand and put it inside of Hippowdon's holes. Hippowdon ran towards Gaara to use Take Down, but was stopped by the Absolute Defense, hurting it due to recoil damage.

Hippowdon used Ice Fang, but Gaara made the sand in Hippowdon's body come towards the mouth and stopped it. Gaara summoned a column of sand under Hippowdon and brought it down instantly, dropping Hippowdon. Hippowdon proceeded to use Crunch, But Gaara placed a bar-shaped sand between Hippowdon's mouth stopping it. Gaara sent he sand inside Hippowdon and used Desert Suspension. Hippowdon used Fissure, but it doesn't affect Gaara.

Gaara: It's time to end this.

As Gaara made the sand move in Hippowdon's body, he felt something block it and realized that it was sand. Gaara took control of this sand as well and made spikes protrude from all over Hippowdon's body, skewering it.

Gaara: It is done.

K.O!

  • Gaara used Prison Sand Burial to bury Hippowdon.
  • Hippowdon's corpse bumped into a Claw Fossil.

Results[]

( Cue ~ Gaara's Theme - Naruto)

Boomstick: Hope that Hippowdon wasn't a herd leader.

Wiz: Hippowdon's high defense may have allowed him to take some of Gaara's attacks, but that was its only thing going for it.

Boomstick: When it came to speed, Gaara owned this category with no sweat. With his Desert Suspension, he can keep up with an Eight Gates REleased Formation Might Guy.

Wiz: Might Guy in his base form can move so fast that people aren't even aware of his presence before they get hit. This alone is far faster than Hippowdon.

Boomstick: And Desert Suspension was able to keep up with his Eight Gates Released Formation, which made him 100 times faster.

Wiz: Hippowdon's jaws could break a car, but that highly pales in compariosn to Gold Dust.

Boomstick: But Wizard, we should've given Hippowdon the ability Sand Force! By giving Sand Stream, you gave Gaara an unfair advantage!

Wiz: Sand Force wouldn't really matter in this situation since it requires a sandstorm in order to be activated and Hippowdon can't learn Sandstorm naturally. Plus, Hippowdon's moves like Sand Tomb and Sand Attack were generally useless against a manipulator of sand.

Boomstick: And this was a wild Hippowdon. Wild Pokemon aren't exactly strategic and don't learn from their mistakes. Besides, Gaara led the Allied Shinobi Forces and became Kazekage. He had the intelligence advantage without even trying.

Wiz: And while Fissure would've helped, its low accuracy and Desert Suspension made it worthless.

Boomstick: Plus, this was a sand battlefield. As seen in the anime, moves like Fissure and Earthquake don't really work well on terrains like water battlefields and sand, which Gaara could definitely create. a sand battlefield, not a water one.

Wiz: Simply put, Gaara's superior speed, intelligence, abilities, and defenses overwhelmed Hippowdon.

Boomstick: Hippowdon just got its butt "sand"ed to it by Gaara.

Wiz: The winner is Gaara.
