On a desolate landscape, torrents of light appear in the sky and plummet towards the Earth, delivering the champions to their final battleground.

The Rules[]

This is a team game where the winners of my 1st and 2nd seasons will fight alongside the other winners of their seasons against the opposing season. Rated R for ridiculous- also for swearing, drug use, crass jokes and everything else I have to include because of one certain contestant.. vulgar little egotist.

Whatever incarnation that was used for the match they won will be the incarnation they use here.

Due to it just being weird to do with multiple versions and people- time manipulation of any kind is banned.

As Cloud has won twice in two different seasons- his season 2 slot will instead be filled by Squall from FF8. Squall is his replacement because there was a blog match between the two and so technically Squall belongs to no season whatsoever- hey- he's like a mercenary!

Description[]

Whiz: A battle between the victors- the war of the winners!

Boomstick: Just when they thought they were out- we're pulling them right back in!

Friendly: Since this is a lot more people than Whiz and Boom normally deal with- I figured I'd pop in to help out.

Boomstick: And we appreciate that friendly assistance.

Whiz: Just try to keep up okay?

Friendly: No worries, mostly I'll just prod you guys along when your banter is failing.

Boomstick: What?! Why you little-

Friendly: First up on the list, Season 1's first winner, Date Masamune from Sengoku Basara!

Season 1[]

WINNERDateMasamune

Date Masamune[]

"Are you ready guys? Put your guns on!"

Whiz: Date debuted in a battle against the pirate swordsman Zoro- coming out on top by virtue of superior energy reserves and higher destructive power.

Boomstick: Date's one crazy guy- he put exhaust pipes on his horse for crying out loud!

Friendly: Holding 3 swords in either hand is really hard- have you ever tried that?

Whiz: The One-Eyed Dragon-

Boomstick: Heyoooo- let me tell you about 'my' One-Eyed Dragon!

Whiz: The leader of the Date Clan is infamous for his choice of weaponry- 6 katana that are called the Claws of the Dragon!

Friendly: The swords are fairly durable, though with enough force they WILL eventually break.

Boomstick: And my god- what amounts of force they can take!

Whiz: Date has clashed with many powerful foes, each time powering through despite being grievously wounded and coming out on top. Defeating Nobunaga with the help of Sanada and then later defeating Hideyoshi by himself.

Friendly: For context, Nobunaga was capable of hitting Sanada and Date hard enough to knock them into orbit, and Hideyoshi punched out the Seto Inland Sea.

Whiz: The heroes in Sengoku Basara are so powerful that they're frequently knock soldiers flying- even when they're miles away from the battle. Calling them "destructive" is a tad underselling how they fight.

Boomstick: Also he can fly- why can he fly? Because he's f**king Date Masamune- that's why!

Whiz: Date has actually made a career out of dive-bombing his enemies from orbit- it's something he does fairly often.

Friendly: Date's no slouch on the battlefield- that's for sure.

'I'll gouge out your remaining eye!' "Go ahead and try- my eye will bare its fangs and bite you!"

WINNERCloudStrife

Cloud Strife[]

"Time to go, Fenrir."

Whiz: Cloud's first battle in regards to our new friend was against Cress Albane, who Cloud managed to overcome after a tremendous (and only moderately paradox-inducing) battle.

Boomstick: Only because we let him have his materia.

Friendly: What was that Boomstick?

Boomstick: I mean- of course we let him have his materia- the stuff only lets him do everything!

Whiz: While everything may be overdoing it- there's no denying Cloud's materia allows him an assortment of abilities that make him an extremely versatile fighter.

Boomstick: Add that to his overly compensating swords plus enough strength to chop through massive pieces of steel and you've got one hell of a fighter- even if he does dress in drag...

Friendly: Cloud's speed is also not something to underestimate, he can move his body faster than a bullet can move- no wonder he can block bullets- even when he's got cancer he' still chopping them out of the air with no issue.

Whiz: Cloud has taken massive amounts of punishment, being impaled multiple times and still being able to get right back up and fight.

Boomstick: For a pretty boy he's not that bad of a fighter- even if he does dress in drag...

"I am your living legacy."

WINNERMakaAlbarn

Maka Albarn[]

"A sound soul rests within a sound mind and a sound body."

Whiz: Maka and Soul managed to defeat the Fullmetal Alchemist via superior speed and a massive strength plus durability advantage.

Boomstick: The shortstop Edward just couldn't keep up. (Edward's rage can be heard off in the distance)

Whiz: With her deathscythe- Soul- Maka is capable of cutting cleanly through stone like butter when she activates her Soul Resonance.

Friendly: The Soul Resonance between a meister and weapon is similar to a guitar and an amp- allowing the lone power to be enhanced far beyond what it is capable of solo.

Boomstick: And how does a weapon gain power? By eating the souls of those it kills- that's some straight-up badass heavy metal shit there!

Whiz: After absorbing the soul of Arachne, Maka and Soul grew even stronger and gained new abilities.

Friendly: One of these new abilities is being able to target the soul-waves of enemies and produce two effects- either producing a counter "wavelength" to destroy their powers and bring the foe to a standstill.

Boomstick: It's a surefire way to kill any battle-boner an enemy may have going.

Whiz: Maka's Black Blood is nothing to laugh at-

Boomstick: You can still laugh at her rack though.

Friendly: On behalf of Maka- FRIENDLY CHOP! (screen shakes briefly)

Whiz: Maka's Black Blood makes her incredibly durable, able to laugh off bladed attacks from the likes of Chrona- and she can even regenerate massive holes punched through her chest by the Kishin.

Boomstick: Tiny... tiny chest... owwwww.

"Let's go- Soul Resonance!"

WINNERSora

Sora[]

"My friends are my power!"

Whiz: With the power of superior hax, speed, and strength- Sora managed to overcome the perils of Darth Vader.

Boomstick: Who uses a key in combat?!

Friendly: Apparently Sora does- by the power of 'Disney magic' he has chopped straight through buildings and hurled massive monsters backwards with sheer strength with nothing but that tiny keyblade.

Whiz: The keyblade is a mystical weapon of immense power, granting the user superior strength, speed, and magic to that of other normal warriors.

Friendly: This mini-Cloud doesn't need anything for his magic though, he's capable of doing it entirely on his own, even when the keyblade is taken away from him!

Boomstick: In the future his weapon may be capable of changing form, but currently Sora is 'limited' to Limit Form.

Whiz: The Limit Form is a potent power-up, allowing Sora access to many of the attacks and powers he had access to in his previous adventure- like Sonic Raid or even a dodging move that creates a barrier.

Boomstick: It's not every day the writers make the character composite on their own. He's got his Dream powers from Kingdom Hearts DDD.

Friendly: And his KH2 powers and clothing, which then gives him access to his KH1 powers as well.

Whiz: One thing's for sure, you can't judge a book by its cover, Sora appears docile and somewhat comical- but when he grits his teeth and gets ready for battle- he's a force to be reckoned with.

WINNERWar

War[]

Boomstick: War- one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse!

Friendly: He did manage to defeat Link in combat due to his ability to keep Link on defense and having his own equipment to respond to anything Link could bring out.

Whiz: War is a man of action, not words- after an unexpected betrayal he cut a bloody swath through every demon and angel in his path- gaining a variety of weapons and powers in the process.

Boomstick: Best things first- Boomstick's talking about the boomstick! War has a pistol scaled to his own colossal size- marking it as a powerful weapon of destruction and mayhem. He doesn't even have to reload the thing!

Whiz: Alongside this pistol he wield a blade big enough to make Cloud jealous, the Armageddon Blade.

Friendly: In the words of dear departed Billy Mays- "BUT WAIT- THERE'S MORE!" not only does he have toys- he's got magic too!

Boomstick: War can draw upon Chaos- an energy he gains from combat- to turn into his final form. He becomes a behemoth of power and fire that is immune to taking damage- god he looks cool like that!

Whiz: His skin can become harder than stone and he can burn enemies just by walking near them as well- making him a potent warrior indeed.

Friendly: No wonder he's a Horsemen of the Apocalypse, when War rides, destruction follows.

(War hurtles into battle)

WINNERKite

Kite[]

Friendly: These next two are going to be... a little weird.

Whiz: You made us take quite a headache from trying to figure out Kite.

Boomstick: I oughta slap you for making us do these two.

Friendly: Hey- they were up for adoption and I wanted to help- I was new!

Whiz: For those wondering why Boomstick and Friendly are butting heads- Kite is an actual video game character. And by that I don't mean he comes FROM a game, I mean in canon he IS in a game.

Boomstick: And Friendly abuses that system!

Friendly: Let's see you do better! It's canon!

Whiz: Gentlemen, please, the character description? Bicker afterwords.

Boomstick: Eh it's fine, they'll get mad at Friendly anyways- not us.

Friendly: What- hey! No scapegoating!

Whiz: *Ahem* Kite managed to defeat the version of Kirito he fought due to a trump card for fighting any digital character, the Data Drain, capable of reducing any program to fragments and even putting the user behind it into a coma.

Boomstick: Aside from that he's kind of a one-trick guy, Twin-Blades are fast enough to dodge bullets and can perform long-hitting combos with their... twin... blades.

Friendly: Yeah, there's a reason that fight was abandoned, Kite's hard. Haseo would've been much better- I'll be getting him a match later on.

Whiz: That was a sad showing guys- do better for the next one- please?

Boomstick: But... the next one is...

WINNERKirito

Kirito[]

Boomstick: This stupid little *bleep*.

Whiz: In possibly Friendly's most controversial match- Kirito managed to defeat Link in combat.

Friendly: Not talking about that.

Boomstick: Kirito has gone far beyond his animated incarnations- being given new powers and equipment like its going out of style in the light novels.

Whiz: Boasting a pair of magical swords, Kirito has ascended above his previous levels of power. Each blade holds a unique and powerful ability- or so Friendly tells us.

Friendly: Translating another language is hard, but I conferred with others trying and they got the same result. One sword will turn those it strikes into trees while the other freezes an entire battlefield of 300,000 soldiers solid in ice when activated.

Boomstick: I'll give them credit, Kirito sucks, but his swords are pretty cool- COOL!

Whiz: Added onto that, Kirito in that particular battle was in a composite form- meaning he also has a pistol he can use plus the ability to fly and fill an area with smoke with his Spriggan powers.

Friendly: Also his Illusion magic- allowing him to become a fearsome monster that can pierce even plated armor with ease.

Boomstick: And I guess you're going to insist on the healthbar again?

Whiz: In his defense, the harder someone hits the faster the healthbar goes down, so it's more like incredible regen right up until his energy runs out.

Friendly: In other words, exactly like Dante. Shame I haven't had a match with him yet- but hey Boomstick look- I know you guys like hearing about the next character!

Boomstick: Who is it?

WINNERGoku

Goku[]

DBZ in a nutshell

Boomstick: Whiz- I may have to kill him.

Whiz: Oh come on Boomstick, it's not like we're tired of hearing about Goku... okay yes, we're totally tired of hearing about Goku.

Friendly: At least you guys don't have to do more research, I used Goku before Super came out.

Boomstick: ... You've earned a small reprieve from my wrath.

Whiz: Well then we've got a rather standard summary ahead of us don't we? Goku is a Saiyan, an alien race capable of growing stronger the more they fight.

Friendly: Be sure to read your local Saiyan manual for any questions.

Boomstick: While Goku is strong enough to level mountains in his normal form, him advancing to Super Saiyan is what breaks all of the limits he has.

Whiz: The Super Saiyan form has been described as so powerful that Kaio-Ken is rendered obsolete, and the Kaio-Ken in the past has multiplied all of his stats by as much as 2000% (20x higher).

Boomstick: With the small price of endless screaming, Goku can become even faster and stronger than he already was- enabling him to throw around enough power to destroy the Earth!

Whiz: Look- you all know what Goku is capable of- do we really have to go on?

Friendly: We can probably cut you two some slack- but Goku's kind of important here.

Whiz: I'm sure we can wrap up any extra details in the conclusion.

Boomstick: Thank god- it's over now!

Friendly: Well... you guys still have all of season 2 to do...

Boomstick: MOTHER- *BLEEP*

Season 2[]

WINNERYuNarukami

Yu Narukami[]

"Allow me to show you human potential!"

Whiz: Yu managed to triumph against Milla Maxwell due to his ability to counter virtually every attack she had with the proper Persona.

Boomstick: I'm pretty sure jumping into a tv to a fake world where you're a hero is seriously unhealthy for your mental health.

Friendly: He's not a bad swordsman either- despite being self-taught he's able to take on demons and monsters with little trouble.

Whiz: Yu's main persona is known as Izanagi, like Yu, Izanagi is a potent swordsman- able to slash hundreds of shadows apart in seconds.

Boomstick: Man, you have to ask what sick bastard wants that thing between his legs though- that looks like it would hurt.

Friendly: Alongside his formidable skills, Izanagi can throw around Lightning and Almighty magic- and can project the force of his sword far past the length of the blade itself to strike from a distance.

Whiz: And Izanagi is only the tip of the iceberg, Yu seemingly has access to hundreds of Persona- although seemingly can only take a few with him at any given time.

Boomstick: I wouldn't mind having some of those Persona around myself- magical ladies that fulfill my every wish? I can think of worse punishments.

Friendly: Just remember quite a few of those "ladies" go both ways Boomstick.

Boomstick: The hell does that mean?

Friendly: Nah, I'll let you find out for yourself.

WINNERSomaCruz

Soma Cruz[]

Whiz: Ah Castlevania- a longstanding series from Konami.

Friendly: The characters are pretty fun to use- but the only one I've ever beaten is Aria of Sorrow- hence Soma Cruz.

Boomstick: Of course the only one you played was the most Japanese of all the Castlevania's...

Whiz: Soma is one of the strongest of the Castlevania heroes, added onto his formidable skills with all manner of weapons- he can absorb the souls of slain enemies to gain their abilities and powers.

Friendly: And he has a loooooot of powers.

Boomstick: Too bad the two characters that consume souls couldn't be on the same team- that would've been all sorts of cool.

Friendly: Maybe I'll do some team battles in a blog.

Whiz: Soma's combat stats are somewhat harder to pin down- he appears to easily move at supersonic speeds and can fight enemies moving just as fast. He can also break down walls with his strength- meaning he's no lightweight either.

Boomstick: He still has stupid hair.

Friendly: It looks cooler in more realistic pictures- otherwise I'm with Boomstick for once- it's silly-looking.

WINNERHiei

Hiei[]

Boomstick: Whiz, tell my kids I love them, and tell my wife I tolerated her- I don't think I can make it through the rest of the list.

Friendly: Hang in there Boomstick- we need you!

Whiz: Besides- I know how much you like demon samurai.

Boomstick: OH SHIT IT'S HIEI!

Whiz: Hiei managed to defeat Vergil in a duel, overtaking the younger demon by virtue of basically having better versions of every feat the two shared.

Friendly: He's fast and strong, easily in the hypersonic range for speed and he packs a hell of a punch too.

Boomstick: And don't forget that Dragon of Darkness Flame! That sucker destroys mountains by accident!

Whiz: His 3rd eye is special as well, granting him increased reflexes and vision that are far superior compared to that of a normal human.

Friendly: His flames burn quite hot as well, he vaporized a fairly large battle-axe, meaning he can produce heat in excess of 3000 degrees Celsius.

Boomstick: He's got a fever, and the only answer- is violence and fighting stronger foes.

Whiz: Boy, you really get the DBZ comparisons after a while.

Friendly: I know, a shame Dragonball got all the big backers while YYH fell to obscurity for a while.

"If that happens all we have to do is kill everyone else on the boat."

WINNERLuke

Luke Fon Fabre[]

Whiz: So- this one's all yours Friendly.

Friendly: Aw come on- you two still have to help!

Boomstick: Well you nerfed Shulk to the point where this guy with a similar power could overcome him.

Friendly: You're never gonna let that one go are you?

Whiz: While Luke is a spoiled brat in the start, he very quickly matures into a capable fighter.

Boomstick: You know, if I wiped an entire city off the face of the earth by accident, I bet I'd mature too.

Friendly: Tales swordsmen all tend to be very similar to one another, a bunch of techniques and moves that use elements and magic to extend their reach.

Whiz: Luke however brings the added element of changing the elements of the battlefield as he fights, enabling him to adapt and change the field to assist his allies or hinder his enemies.

Boomstick: But when his standard skills aren't enough, he busts out the big gun- the Hyperresonance.

Whiz: Just a fraction of a true Hyperresonance destroyed an entire island, meaning Luke's packing some real power behind that head of hair.

Friendly: While he is reluctant to use said power, after defeating his clone he gains full control over it- he can even rip magical beings and forces out of other people- with the proper assistance of course.

WINNERLazloEnKuldes

Lazlo En Kuldes[]

Friendly: Hey Boomstick- didn't you say this sounds reminds you of your ex-wife?

True Rune of Punishment

Boomstick: Yep yep, I remember that shrieking, and the Rune of Punishment sounds awful too.

Whiz: Lazlo managed to overpower Lloyd Irving via superior destructive capability, the Rune of Punishment has single-handedly destroyed entire fleets of ships and has deflected explosions the size of islands.

Friendly: Not to mention moving your swords fast enough to create a whirlwind is fairly impressive.

Boomstick: Didn't you say he can equip other runes as well?

Friendly: That's fairly dangerous territory Boomstick- any number of combinations could come up for that.

Whiz: Well maybe just one- it's hardly fair to limit him to one rune when he has three slots.

Friendly: We'll go with Water then- makes sense- the entire game is sailing around on a boat big enough to qualify as a town.

Boomstick: What's it do? Splash his enemies?

Whiz: The Water Rune actually gives him a lot of healing abilities, plus it can cancel out enemy magic for a short time.

Boomstick: How is canceling out magic related to water?!

Friendly: Well you can only make healing allies so interesting with 4 levels of spells.

WINNERRyner

Ryner Lute[]

"First comes destruction."

Boomstick: Hey I remember this guy- he beat my waifu!

Friendly: Caster is your waifu? That's just sick.

Whiz: Ryner's magic is nothing to sneeze at- he can destroy all manner of people and objects- often without any sort of projectile for the magic. He simply will them to be destroyed and it happens.

Boomstick: What is it with people and losing their shirts anyways?

Whiz: Unlike most mage-types, Ryner also has excelled in martial arts training, allowing him to keep himself safe even when an enemy is right on top of him.

Friendly: His ability to analyze his enemies can also come in handy- he can see how energy moves through their body and sense the level of power they have.

Boomstick: Luckily, his destruction can be halted if you can just force him to close his eyes, but beyond that- say goodbye to everyone and everything near you.

Whiz: He also is quite good at copying enemy magic and techniques- most times being able to match a spell with the counter even before it reaches him.

Friendly: I think I could use a nap, this is tiring.

Boomstick: Hell no you don't- this is your fault- you're sticking around until the end!

WINNERSquall

Squall Leonhart[]

Whiz: I saw that Friendly, you skipped ahead!

Friendly: Some of these are easier than others!

Boomstick: The nerve of this guy... this wasn't even a proper Deathbattle!

Whiz: Squall managed to defeat Cloud in Friendly's blog due to his near-identical physical stats but having a superior magic-system compared to his predecessor.

Friendly: Hey- Drawing is even in the new arcade game- it's a legit power Squall has access to!

Boomstick: Alright alright- don't get your panties in a bunch.

Whiz: Squall is a trained SEED, capable of taking on entire armies with just a few allies.

Friendly: While his magic is probably his greatest feature- his speed and strength should be more than enough to match or even surpass Cloud's own- though I'd still peg him as around building-level.

Boomstick: And there's few things more badass than a gunblade- what better way to sincerely harm someone than to shoot them at the same time as you gut them?

Whiz: Squall places a lot of emphasis on battling mages- stealing their magic and reflecting what he doesn't steal back at them.

Friendly: And he tends to extend his gunblade with energy, giving him a deceptively longer reach than he would appear to possess.

WINNERTheBoss

The Boss[]

Friendly: Boomstick look- the end is near! This is the last one!

Boomstick: Finally... so many characters... I need... I need...

Whiz: Water? A breather? A chair?

Boomstick: Booze... I need booze... and an attractive actress... of at least B-list levels of hotness...

Friendly: You know what- I like your attitude.

Whiz: What really?! Why?!

Friendly: Fits pretty well with our last contestant doesn't it?

"Hail to the motherf**king chief!"

Whiz: Good point.

Boomstick: There's heroes and valiant fighters galore- and then there's the leader of the Third Street Saints.

Friendly: Picture a gangster given superpowers and... well... you have the premise to Saints Row 4.

Whiz: While arguably superhuman in his previous incarnations- SR4 decides to thoroughly leave "normal" in the dust and makes the Boss a force to be reckoned with.

Boomstick: He can blast, he can stomp, he can TK and he can buff- the Boss can do all these things and more for the low price of $60.

The Boss: So do I get my DLC this time or-

Whiz/Friendly/Boomstick: NO!

Friendly: With the ability to scale buildings in seconds and dropkick with the force of a nuclear explosion- the Boss is a fearsome combatant for how casually he can throw around his powers.

Whiz: Most magical powers are limited by some sort of resource- all The Boss is limited by is cooldown periods.

Boomstick: Some of this stuff is pretty cool- gravity manipulation, life-draining, flash-freezing his enemies- what does his DLC give him that's so bad?

Friendly: Just him being near you makes you explode.

Boomstick: Oh- fair enough- none of that.

Whiz: We believe this time around it might be fair to give him access to his alien guns though.

Friendly: Hey- I said we have to use the same incarnation!

Whiz: You did- but that wasn't an incarnation rule was it? It was a loadout rule- so we can change it however we want.

Boomstick: Sorry Friendly, 2 against 1.

Friendly: What- but- how does that work!?

The Boss: Serves you right for calling me names earlier.

Friendly: YOU GET THE HELL BACK BEHIND THAT 4TH WALL YOU SATIRICAL BASTARD!

DEATHBATTLE(S)[]

Whiz: The combatants are set and the descriptions are (Boomstick: FINALLY) over.

Friendly: Time for my season 1 and 2 winners to go head to head to head to head to-

Boomstick: It's time for DEATHBATTLES!

Friendly-final-winner-team

On a desolate plain, 16 spears of light strike the earth, 8 of azure blue and 8 of blood-red crimson.

Blue Team[]

From the blue strides fearsome warriors- the one that leads them wears an orange training gi of the Turtle School. He walks with the confidence of a man who knows his abilities. His hair is abnormally shaped- spiking off in all directions almost of its own will. Behind him walks two warriors each wielding massive blades: the smaller and slimmer one is garbed entirely in black and has blond spikey hair- similar to that of the leader- though more restrained. The other towers over both of them, a red hood and glowing eyes all that can be seen of his head. Unlike his companions he wears heavy armor, the ground quaking with his every step.

Several children follow the leaders: a girl with a red and black scythe stands near a boy with spiky brown hair and a key that he holds as if it were a sword. Beside them walks a shot boy with blue hair and orange clothing, and another boy wearing all black walking next to him. Both of the boys carry dual-blades in their hands.

Trailing at the back of the group stands a samurai in blue armor, three swords draping to either side. His arms are crossed and a gleam is shining in his one eye as a smile crawls around his face.

Goku gives his commands, "Alright everyone- pick your targets and take them down."

Date gives a short laugh from the back, "You're getting me pumped up Goku, this had better be one hell of a party."

War draws his blade, "You know nothing of hell. But any enemy in my path is an enemy I will destroy."

Maka taps Sora on the shoulder to get his attention. "Hey Sora, would you be my partner for this?"

Sora nods, a smile growing across his face. "Sure, I like fighting alongside others."

He seems pretty cool- not as cool as me though. Soul echoed in Maka's mind.

Kirito and Kite stood slightly apart from the rest, looking confused, Kite more than Kirito.

"I don't get it- what game are they from?"

Kirito shrugged in response, "Beats me- I think you and I should stay near one another- who knows what weird stuff is going to happen."

Cloud stands off to the side, quietly keeping an eye on the enemy as they land.

Red Team[]

From the red light another group of 8 emerge.

At the head of the group stands a man in green and white robes, a small plate of armor attached to his shoulder. Light flares from his eyes briefly as he looks at the enemy forces. Off to the side a black-cloaked figure stands by himself, a bandage covering his forehead and a disdainful look stretching across his features.

Three grey-haired boys follow the leader: one wears a long white coat, a red glow can be seen crawling around his eyes occasionally. The one next to him is dressed in short pants and walks with a carefree stride, a shining light can be seen crawling along one of his hands. The last one wears a normal school outfit, he wears a set of glasses on his nose but he doesn't seem to need them.

Following up this group are the three final members: a youth in black leather strides forwards, glaring at his opponents across the field, a scar stretches across his face and he wields a blade with a pistol hilt attached to it. A red-haired boy is walking alongside him, a white coat with a gold outline flapping in the wind, and a worried look on his face. The final man looks hardly concerned, a grin on his face as he smokes a joint with a purple fleur-de-lis on it.

Ryner gives his commands, the light fading from his eyes. "Alright, they're strong, pick your fights carefully and work together- Luke and Yu, you guys stick together- same to Lazlo and... what IS your name anyways?"

The Boss takes another drag before dropping his joint, rubbing it out on in the dirt.

"Not important- Lazlo you're with me- want a drink?" Lazlo shakes his head in response. The Boss shrugs before pulling out a flask of alcohol, winking at the camera before taking a chug.

Hiei sighs, "Hardly any of them look worth my time- am I supposed to be intimidated by children?"

Squall spoke up, "Underestimating your enemy is a good way to lose to them."

Hiei glared at his ally, "I'll thank you to not be giving me tactics lessons right before a battle."

Squall continues looking towards the enemy, "Then go fight and die on your own then."

Soma sticks his hands in his pockets, pulling out a pistol and checking it before placing it back in his pockets. "Guess it's time for old-fashioned monster slaying."

Luke and Yu were having a short discussion. "Luke- we should try to isolate a group of them and use our superior numbers to take them down quickly."

Luke looked confused, "What superior numbers?"

Yu smiled and held out his hand, crushing a blue card. Izanagi appeared behind him, towering over the both of them.

Ryner meanwhile was still staring at the man at the front of the enemy team, worry etching into his mind. That one man though- he's so powerful- I don't think I can beat him...

Both teams draw their weapons and prepare their abilities- at an unknown signal they all charge forwards towards one another- ready to do or die in battle!

Goku Issues a Challenge[]

Goku flew forwards, calling out to the enemy team. "Give me the strongest fighter you've got!" Hiei looked willing to oblige him but Ryner held him back, shaking his head. Hiei was annoyed.

"Don't give me that crap- I'm stronger than you are- why do you get to fight him?"

Ryner shook his head again, "Trust me- I can see his power- you can't take him. I need you fighting with the others."

Hiei brushes off Ryner's hand, "I may kill you for this later."

Ryner nodded and Hiei leaped off to clash blades with Date, the two whirling around in midair before landing on a far mountain. Ryner drew to a stop in front of Goku. If there IS a later. Goku raised his hands, grinning at the impending battle. Ryner drew his hands up in a martial arts pose of his own, his heart sinking as Goku released even more ki energy- causing the rocks around him to tremble and shatter. I don't stand a chance.

Soma vs Cloud[]

"You don't stand a chance!" Soma yelled as he opened fire at Cloud with a pistol, supplementing his physical bullets with a soul that sent cracking balls of fire hurtling towards his adversary at the same time. Cloud evaded the fireballs while whirling the Fusion Blade around his body, forming a shield from the incoming bullets. Cloud felt a surge of energy course through him and channeled it down his sword, creating a shockwave that raced towards Soma. Soma leaped into the air as the shockwave flashed underneath him- slamming into a rocky wall and blasting it to pieces.

Soma used his magic to leap higher into the air, hanging there as he rained bullets down at Cloud. His eyes widened when Cloud responded by jumping straight up after him- achieving through sheer strength what Soma required magic to accomplish. Soma cast aside his gun and drew out his Claimh Solais to defend himself. The clash of the blades created a burst of blue light that eclipsed the battle between the two.

Maka/Sora vs Luke/Yu[]

"Persona!" Izanagi flashed into being above Yu and hurled a lightning bolt at Sora, who leaped out of the way before it manages to strike him. Luke jumped into the air, the remains of the lightning surrounding his sword as he called out his attack, "Lightning tiger blade!" He brought the sword crashing down on Maka's scythe, the lightning shocking her and driving her back. Yu meanwhile was at Maka's side, cutting at her and forcing her even further away from the rest of the group. Sora growled and threw his keyblade at Izanagi to keep it busy while he leaped into the air to land behind Maka- his keyblade returning to his hand just in time to catch a blow from Luke.

Maka- you're outnumbered- fight smarter- not harder!

"I know that Soul!" Maka ground out between her teeth as Izanagi flew overhead, slashing at her in a frenzy of swordplay she had to work hard to keep up with. Several of the attacks missed her, carving deep gouges out of the ground around her. Sora meanwhile sent Luke flying back with a heavy blow before Yu was there, a sweeping blow from his katana forcing Sora to abandon his attack against the young Fonist. Luke shook his head as he recovered from the blow.

"They're strong Yu- be careful!"

Yu nodded, raising his hand into the air "Izanagi!"

Izanagi responded to the unspoken command, flying directly above Sora and Maka and creating hundreds of spheres of light before sending them hurtling at Maka and Sora. Sora managed to bring up a barrier to block the first wave, the light barely being able to fade before the next wave swept in. The lightning bolts showing no sign of stopping- and Sora was beginning to show strain from the repeated use of magic. Luke and Yu drew closer, preparing to go in once the shield stopped.

Yu-luke-all-out-attack

Maka- we're in trouble.

"Luke, on my signal give it everything you've got!"

"Right behind you!"

War vs Squall[]

War strode forwards slowly, watching his enemy do the same. Squall broke into a run as War accelerated too, both of them eventually entering an all-out sprint at one another- weapons raised. Squall struck first, blurring forwards to slice at War's knees. War deflected the attack and whirled around in a circle to swing at Squall as he left the engagement, the Armageddon Blade slicing just barely behind Squall and he continued moving past. War roared, tapping into his inner energy to produce his Affliction Serpents. The magical snakes flew through the air and homed in on the target.

Squall saw the incoming magic and raised his hand- concentrating as they drew closer. Before War's eyes- his attack turned into blue energy and was absorbed into Squall- who stood completely unharmed. Squall flexed his fingers before pointing at War.

"Try this on for size."

War leaped to the side as a line of lightning bolts raced towards him, he regained his feet and continued moving as shards of ice and balls of fire subsequently flew from Squall's position. War drew Strife and fired back at Squall, resigned to not trying to use offensive magic against him. To his annoyance- Squall was able to keep up with the unending stream of bullets- his other hand being used to cast another spell.

"I will break you, human!"

A shudder through the earth caused both to temporarily halt in their actions and look towards a nearby mountain, the ground rippled again as the whirlwind of lightning and fire soared high into the air.

Date vs Hiei[]

"This human doesn't die!" Hiei shouted in fury as he kept his blade moving as quickly as possible to deflect the incoming blows from Date. Being able to attack with only one weapon compared to Date's two was preventing Hiei from launching a successful counterattack as he was fully on defense. A particularly vicious blow forced Hiei to the ground, cratering the rock he stood on. His opponent landed nearby, his claws crackling with energy.

"I'm getting fired up- let's keep going!"

"Fired up you say?" Hiei grinned, "What an excellent idea!" HIei waited for Date to charge at him before tapping into his demonic flames, emitting a burst of fire that would vaporize steel.

Which did nothing as Date's blades emerged from the blast, cutting Hiei across the chest as he staggered backwards- gasping. The blow had not been fatal- but he had not been prepared to be hit at all from the attack. Hiei glared at his enemy with new-found hatred.

Date grinned, "Oh? Come on then- don't tell me that's all you have? We're just getting started!"

"Do you think you could just shut up?" Hiei's Jagann Eye burned through his headband. No more underestimating this human! The two raced at one another and crossed blades, the energy from the impact causing another explosion to ripple outwards across the sky.

Kirito/Kite vs Boss/Lazlo[]

Off from the explosions and magic, the other four combatants stood still, three with dual-blades drawn and ready while The Boss stood off to the side, smoking.

Kirito grew tired of the impasse, racing forwards towards The Boss, who continued to ignore him and smoke. Kirito's first blow was meant to be fatal- aiming straight at the throat of his opponent. He was surprised when The Boss grabbed his arms without an issue, kicking him square in the groin and hurling him back towards Kite.

(In another world, Asuna held her stomach, feeling an unusual pain start in it)

Back on the battlefield, Kirito slid to a stop near Kite, whimpering as his health dropped alarmingly for just a simple kick.

"Kirito? Are you okay?"

Kirito had no words, instead slowly climbing to his feet, knees trembling. His voice seems slightly different as he spoke- the pitch had increased somewhat.

"I'll kill him- I'll kill him so dead for that!" Kirito charged forwards again, with Kite following right behind him. Lazlo outstretched his hand, a crimson glow firing out towards the two incoming enemies with a scream. Kirito savagely cut the incoming magic out of his way- growing a pair of wings to go even faster and reach the Boss. Lazlo brought his blades up in time to block Kite's initial stab, trusting that the Boss could handle himself. Lazlo repelled Kite's assault and threw him back, both of the two slowly pacing in a circle around one another. Lazlo was reminded of all the other duels he'd participated in- he watched Kite carefully- waiting for a tell that he could use as an advantage.

Kite moved quickly, lunging forwards to strike at Lazlo with his Saber Dance skill. 1- 2- 3- 4- all four powerful blows were deflected by Lazlo- who flipped past Kite and gave him a good cut across the back to complete the trade. Lazlo's eyes narrowed as his attack left no apparent effect- although Kite had stumbled and called out in pain when he struck him.

Kirito was chasing the Boss, but making no progress on reaching him. Between his abnormal jumping and speed- Kirito simply couldn't catch him. The Boss was apparently enjoying the chase, making a jerking off motion at Kirito as he, again, evaded the Black Swordsman. Kirito suddenly veered off-course and made a beeline for Lazlo, who was now exchanging rapid blows with Kite.

"Shit!" The Boss cursed when he noticed Kirito ditching him. He reversed his latest jump and quickly shot forwards to try and reach Lazlo in time. Lazlo barely managed to see Kirito before the dark blur was upon him- Lazlo activated his True Rune of Punishment to make a blast of wailing energy around him that briefly kept both of his enemies away.

Kirito snarled in anger, beginning to transform into Gleam Eyes before a bolt of light struck him in the back. He barely began to register surprise on his face before he flashed into nothingness- his swords falling to the ground with no body left- the sparking bits of code revealed the Boss standing behind him with his Disintegrator held in his hands. Kite nervously started to back away as the Boss stored the weapon somewhere.

"That can't be a real weapon! It's not fair at all- what kind of game is this?!"

The Boss began to run forwards, "You're really not going to like this mate." The Boss jumped into Kite's body, Kite flailed about wildly as his flesh warped and stretched, finally imploding in on itself and becoming the Boss again.

(The screen cuts to a VR set dropping to the floor, along with the gasping of air)

Lazlo was stunned, "What the hell are you?"

The Boss did a little victory jig, "The motherfucking Boss- that's what." The ground suddenly quaked from the other nearby battles and the two briefly staggered before they regained their balance. "Right, time to do the team thing- let's go!" Lazlo could only shake his head and follow.

Goku Demands More[]

Goku frowned as Ryner's body flew through the air, crashing into a nearby rock wall and leaving a Ryner-shaped dent in it.

"I said I wanted your strongest fighter- stop holding back your power! I wanna go all-out!"

Ryner climbed to his feet, wincing at the bruises. The longer he's dealing with me, the better my team's chances of taking down the rest of his team. I need a miracle...

No- Ryner gasped as he felt a familiar force probing at his mind, you need my power- you must destroy, eradicate, vanquish, shatter, break- you must end the lives of the pathetic beings around you. Ryner called upon the lightning beast to give him speed, allowing him to dodge the next few punches of Goku- but there were always more after them. Another blow landed, Ryner felt several ribs definitely break under that one, he was hurled backwards down a hill- crashing and tumbling until he reached the bottom. Goku was already there- waiting for him- still looking barely touched in his untarnished gi.

"If you're not going to fight at your best- you're of no further use to me."

"Alright, alright," Ryner climbed to his feat, a heavy weight across his heart. I have to keep control- if I don't I might kill my entire team without anyone else doing a thing. Ryner closed his eyes and breathed deeply for a moment before talking to Goku. "Are you going to go full-power then? I can see the energy within you- you're holding back far worse than I am."

Goku snarled, a burst golden energy began to shine from him. "I said start fighting!"

Ryner gave in, allowing the Lonely Demon to emerge. A red light begins to spread from him as stars shine brightly over his eyes. Goku grinned, at last his opponent was going to use his full power.

Red and gold clash as both hurled forth a mighty blast- the explosion shaking the entire battlefield as Goku and Ryner ascend into the sky.

A Limit is Reached[]

Soma landed on a rocky outcropping, furiously trying to keep away from Cloud, who was leaping after him. Nothing works on him! Soma thought in frustration. Cloud was too fast for him to fight with swords or bullets, and every time Soma tried using magic from his souls Cloud either countered with magic of his own or evaded it. He was running out of tricks to pull.

Soma realized he'd stood around too long and quickly dodged to the side- not a moment too soon- as Cloud slashed at where Soma had been standing. Cloud has a small smile on his face, apparently enjoying the fight. Soma groaned as Cloud separated his Fusion Blade into two parts, doubling his ability to attack. Cloud jumped into the air after Soma, raining a steady stream of blows onto him and forcing him back. Soma tried to counter, to deflect, to dodge- but it was just beyond him. Cloud brought both weapons over his head as he glowed with energy- using his Braver attack to strike at Soma. Luckily Soma had managed to bring up a barrier before the attack hit him- but he still was flung all the way back to the ground several stories below- crashing into the rock.

Soma looked up to see Cloud dive-bombing him, swords out and ready; Soma quickly called upon the soul of a demon he had slain- conjuring up a massive ghostly arm to deflect Cloud's attack. It was one of the few abilities that had any sort of success- knocking Cloud away from Soma. Soma only realized his error when Cloud held one of his arms into the air- magic whirling around it. A stream of comets fired towards Soma. Soma raised his barrier as the blows hit, one after another. Cloud kept up the magical onslaught- starting to feel the drain on his resources but having plenty enough to spam like this. Soma however, was running dry, the sustained effort of keeping up the barrier eventually was too much- it broke- and then Soma was hit. Once, twice, more- Soma was knocked back and forth by the exploding comets. Cloud began glowing with yellow energy as he dashed forwards- his Fusion Blade splitting into all of its different parts as he began slicing past Soma in all directions- each time grabbing a new blade. The final blow ended with Cloud cutting straight past Soma and landing on the ground.

Soma coughed up blood, gasping and plummeting to the ground. Soma remained there, feeling his body slipping away from him. Cloud whirled his swords back into the sheaths before heading off to the rest of the battlefield. Soma's body deteriorated into a multitude of souls- all flying off into the sky.

A Lesson from the Past[]

Squall slashed at War, trying to break past his guard. It wasn't easy, War's weapon was so large it worked quite well as a shield, and his armor only made it harder to deal decent damage when Squall could get past the massive sword. Squall ducked under a horizontal blow from War and brought his gunblade around again- the weapon was large but it was also slow, enabling him to strike faster than War could stop him- squeezing the trigger just as the blade connected to make the sword vibrate and cut deeper.

War roared and smashed his gauntlet into the ground, creating a burst of force that forced Squall away. Squall recovered by rolling to his feet, gunblade held out behind him. War's eyes were burning with rage, that was the 3rd time Squall had managed to hit him. The attacks had left deep cuts in his armor- though his opponent had not yet drawn his blood. War hefted Armageddon into the air and struck into the ground, causing hundreds of like blades to spring upwards around him. Squall back-flipped away, landing beyond the ring of swords. But War wasn't done yet- he used more energy- his skin turned black and flames emerged from it. Even a good dozen feet away Squall could feel the heat pouring off of War.

War charged, the ground quaked beneath his boots and his fire scorched the rocks around him. Squall brought his gunblade up to block the incoming train that was War. The force of the blow knocked him back, but he blocked one more, then another, then another. The heat was intense, almost as bad as when he fought Ifrit and bested him in his own lair... wait- Ifrit! He beat Ifrit with-

"SHIVA!"

An icy spire emerged from the ground, Shiva broke free and surged with power- Squall took the moment of distraction to push War back and jump out of the way- just as Shiva used her Diamond Dust attack. A freezing wind froze the area around War. Squall took a moment to get his breath back before he saw the icy statue shatter as War grew larger- bigger- stronger. War had activated his Chaos Form. Squall took a step back as the flaming monster leaped towards him, bellowing and bringing the massive weapon down where Squall had formerly been standing. Squall hurriedly cast another spell, Scan, knowledge bloomed in his mind as he jumped further away from his foe.

War, a Horseman of the Apocalypse. He can use powerful magic to make himself harder to injure- in his true form he is almost impossible to harm- although he cannot sustain this transformation for long...

Squall knew his plan now, he was still faster and more agile- War's transformation had done nothing to alter that. He kept dodging and dancing backwards as War used more and more energy. Eventually the fire faded and War reverted to his normal form. Squall seized his moment, leaping into the air and flying forwards, energy coating his blade as he cut cleanly through War's armor. War staggered, blood spraying across the ground behind him. Squall turned to go and find his allies- the battlefield was shifting- and the SEED Mercenary planned to shift it in his favor. War fell to the earth, his body fading away. Faintly in the distance, a horn is heard as his body finally disappears.

A Battle Continued- the Keyblade and Scythe Work Together?[]

Lightning bolts continued to endlessly rain towards Sora and Maka, Sora was just barely managing to bring up his barrier in time to block each wave, and Maka could tell he was running low on juice.

"Maka, I'm out after this one!"

"Okay Sora- try to get away quickly!"

Maka and Sora waited for the last volley to bounce off the shield- but Luke and Yu were already waiting- the moment the barrier went down they were upon Maka and Sora again. Maka blocked a combination attack from Luke, a series of punches, kicks, and sword-slashes being deflected or picked off. Sora was exchanging blows with Izanagi again, the fight sending shockwaves of force out enough to send clothing flapping in the wind. Yu meanwhile had joined Luke in his battle against Maka- striking at her while her back was turned.

Hang in there Maka!

Yu's sword was deflected by the Black Blood Soul had activated, though the impact pushed her forwards into Luke's fist, "Raging Blast"!

The magical damage bypassed the Black Blood, knocking Maka back as Yu called Izanagi over. The Persona responded immediately, twisting away from Sora to slash at Maka while she was having trouble moving. Sora appeared in the path of the strike- taking the hit as both he and Maka were thrown off to the side from the combined assault. They barely stopped moving before Izanagi raised its blade in the air and threw a massive beam of energy at the two- both were unable to fully deflect it in their current state- the attack didn't kill them but it did send them both flying.

Sora and Maka regained their feat, panting from the exertion. Yu, Luke, and Izanagi were regrouping- getting ready to rush them again. Maka quickly grabbed Sora's hand, surprising him.

"Sora listen- can you resonate your soul wavelength?"

"Resonate?"

Maka tried another tactic, "Can you fight with your heart?"

Sora nodded and smiled, "Sure!"

Maka nodded in return, "Good- get ready then. Soul- you're on!"

Maka and Sora entered a fighting stance, each holding their weapon in one hand while they clasped the opposite hand together. Soul sat at his piano and began playing, causing jets of energy to link Sora, Maka, and himself together.

Maka/Sora/Soul: "Let's go- Soul Resonance!"

Maka felt the power rebounding between Soul, herself, and Sora- it was immense! How much power did Sora have in his heart?! Sora meanwhile realized what Maka meant- it felt like the combination attacks he could perform with his friends! The power bounced back and forth between the three of them again and again, growing stronger with each exchange.

Sora-Maka-Soul-resonance

Maka/Sora: "Haaaaaaaaa!"

Luke froze, sensing the massive amounts of energy Sora and Maka were suddenly giving off, "A hyperresonance?"

Yu meanwhile sensed nothing and ran forwards, "Izanagi!" The Persona flew towards Maka and Sora- but they were no longer there. They'd both moved forwards at speeds neither Yu nor Luke had expected, bypassing Izanagi entirely and charging the human parts of the team.

Yu brought his sword up to block Sora's attack, only for Maka to be on his other side- cutting him across the back. Luke jumped forwards, stabbing at Maka, but Sora had already crossed the distance and deflected the blow upwards. Maka grabbed Yu with the inside of her scythe, throwing him into Luke. Izanagi reversed course and attempted to slash at Maka- who jumped straight up to avoid the attack- whirling her scythe in a circle around her body to block the lightning bolt Izanagi threw. Izanagi followed with his blade and was surprised as Sora caught him straight in the chest with a lunging thrust from his keyblade.

Luke was confused. Not only did they get stronger- they fight like they're one person! Every blow, every maneuver, puts them in a position to help one another and attack the enemy from different angles! Luke began to power-up, he needed the hyperresonance to stop them.

"Yu- buy me a few seconds!"

Maka- Sora- the other one's doing something!

Maka and Sora abandoned Izanagi and Yu completely and without warning, collapsing on Luke as he was just beginning to raise his hand and glow. Sora brought his keyblade straight down onto Luke's head as Maka slashed him with the scythe, decapitating him. The soul briefly flared before disappearing.

Yu pointed at the two- "Izanagi! God's Fist!"

Izanagi complied, hurling Almighty magic at Sora and Maka. Sora raised his keyblade, a grin on his face, "Protect!" The attack bounced off his barrier as Sora's magic returned, shards of light flying backwards. Before Yu's eyes could recover- Maka and Soul were upon Izanagi- the two unleashed a devastating combination of attacks- destroying Izanagi. Maka finished him off with a great blow from her glowing blue scythe.

Yu stumbled to his knees before falling flat on his face, the damage from his persona had reached through to him, he couldn't fight anymore...

Round 2[]

Sora and Maka met up with Cloud, panting from their recent exertions. Off in the distance they could see Goku's golden aura clashing with Ryner's red glow- even more than a mile away they could feel the energy being thrown around between the two. In the opposite direction Date and Hiei were still fiercely embattled on their mountain- the shockwaves were reaching the group- causing their clothing and hair to flap in the winds produced.

"Sora, Maka, have either of you seen the two gaming guys?"

Sora and Maka shook their heads. Cloud sighed.

"I don't see War anywhere either- guess we're going even so far. How are you two holding up?"

Maka spun Soul over her head. "We're doing okay, we took some damage but Sora healed me up."

Sora kept looking around, "But if they lost- their enemies have to be somewhere around-"

A dark purple and black shape impacted the ground between the three members of season 1, creating a massive explosion and knocking them all away from one another. Cloud recovered as he was thrown through the air, landing on a nearby spire of rock- he had nasty burns on his face and arms. He could see his two allies being engaged by a man in purple and a boy in hot shorts.

"Sora- Maka- hang on!"

Cloud attempted to leap after them but he found his way blocked by a scarred man in leather with an unusual blade in his hands. Squall whirled the gunblade in a circle- staring at his opponent. Cloud hopped down and held his Fusion Blade over his shoulder.

"You sure have a lively lot with you."

Squall held his gunblade next to his leg.

"Talk is pointless for the both of us."

The two mercenaries charged at one another, raising their weapons to engage in combat.

Dragon vs Dragon[]

On top of a mountain, blue and red flames shine as two warriors strive against one another, locked in mortal combat.

"WAR DANCE!"

Date unleashed a series of cuts at Hiei- lightning crackling through the air as Hiei moved his blade quickly- deflecting and dodging as many blows as he could. The two danced across the top of the mountain- their battle causing sparks and streamers of energy to be dispersed in all directions. Date was striking with incredible speed and force behind his blows, each attack causing the mountain to tremble. Hiei was using his single sword and all of his agility to keep away from the dragon's claws.

Date was enjoying the combat, it wasn't often he got to fight someone on his level, his fighting spirit increased even further- causing his flaming aura to surge with even more energy. The onslaught increased, Hiei actively giving ground as Date pushed the offensive. Hiei eventually locked his own single sword against Date's six, forcing the combat to briefly still. Date laughed and jumped backwards, reaching the other side of the small arena they'd carved from the mountain. Both were breathing heavily, although Hiei had taken a bit more damage than Date had with that unfortunate flame gambit. Hiei looked over his shoulder at the ground below, where the remaining combatants were still having their own battle, before he looked back at Date.

"You're strong- for a human. And you're more annoying than Kuwabara- which is saying something- let me tell you. But," Hiei dropped his fighting stance as he glanced high into the sky- where Goku and Ryner's own lightshow was still going on in full force. "You're not the strongest one here- and I'm not settling for a weaker opponent- go and help the rest of your team kill mine if you please- I'm leaving." Hiei fully intended to launch himself through the air towards Goku, but even as he jumped Date had moved quickly himself, appearing in front of Hiei and locking blades with him again. Date's grin grew wider.

"Don't let me get a goal in so easily- nobody runs away from the One-Eyed Dragon- I am your opponent!" Date hurled Hiei back to the mountain as he lost his grip on his sword. Hiei recovered before landing, turning what would've been a potent impact into a few short flips to regain his balance. Date landed on the other side, the two had exchanged places in the short scuffle amidst the larger battle, Hiei's sword was left standing in the rock behind Date.

Hiei glared at Date before raising his arm, black flames swirling around his body. "God, you're annoying!" Date laughed in response, causing Hiei to snarl in rage as the flames intensified. "I hope you realize once I unleash this power there is no going back for either of us." Date's grin never faded as he pointed at Hiei with a set of three claws.

"Come at me, bro! This is your climax!"

The flames around Hiei billowed outwards as his eyes shined brightly with menace. "Dragon of the Darkness Flame!" The black dragon erupted from Hiei's aura, crackling with red energy as it raced towards Date. The dark dragon met the blue one in a massive explosion- when the smoke cleared Date had a set of swords each hitting one of the shadows dragon's jaws- top and bottom. Red energy was crackling along Date's body as he attempted to fight off the attack while Hiei kept pouring more power into it. Date was holding his ground but slowly and surely was being pushed back, the rock around his legs shattering as he demanded more and more support from the mountain. And then it happened, Date's swords flew out of his hands as he lost his footing. Hiei gloated as his foe was thrown backwards to the edge of the cliff- the dragon surging towards him to finish him off- Date barely regained his feet before the Dragon of the Darkness Flame consumed him.

"It appears my dragon is superior to that of Oshu- a shame- you were a powerful opponent." The dragon suddenly stopped, roaring in fury, "What?!"

Blue light suddenly surged from the head of the dragon, splitting it in half down its entire length and following the serpentine coils to strike Hiei in the chest, re-opening the wounds that had just started to heal. Hiei was thrown back this time, landing and rolling a few times before stopping, on his hands and knees. He looked up just in time to see his sword strike the ground in front of him- Date has thrown it after using it to cut down the dragon. Date raised his hands as his claws jumped back into their positions and he drew them once more- anger touching his features. Hiei grabbed the sword and tried to fight back but Date surged forwards, leveling blow after blow at Hiei. After wounding him one more time Date struck him with an upward strike- causing Hiei to be knocked skywards. Date hurled five of his swords up into the sky after Hiei, imprisoning him on a giant blue dragon symbol in the sky.

Hiei refused to give in, refused to surrender, refused to lose to a human! He gathered all of his power, straining to break free of this prison. The bright blue seal slowly began to turn dark as Hiei's black fire began to consume it. Down below, Date was enraged. "How dare you brandish the power to survive?!" The flames of Date's fighting spirit surged as he leaped upwards at Hiei, transforming into a blue dragon as he flew- the roar of his passage resembling that of a jet. "JUMPING JACK BREAKER!"

The seal in the sky exploded in a massive blue fireball. Date landed back on top of the mountain before falling to his knees, panting at the loss of so much energy and the damage he had taken from the Dragon of the Darkness Flame. He looked between Goku and Ryner's clash to the battle between the rest of the team far below. Date decided where he was heading next.

The Alien and the Demon[]

BOOM!

Another blast echoed across the sky as Ryner and Goku flew through the clouds- hurling blasts of energy at one another with abandon while trying to tag one another. Goku was thrilled. A series of blue stars appeared around Goku- firing beams of energy at him- he built his ki defenses up and roared with exhilaration as the blasts tore at him. Sensing the energy signature of his enemy- Goku placed his fingers to his head to perform the instant transmission- appearing directly behind Ryner as he waved his hands to throw more blasts of energy towards the raging ball of fire that was where Goku had formerly been.

"Missed me!" Goku yelled as he brought his hands down on the head of his opponent, feeling a distinct 'crack' as his blow definitely broke a few bones. Ryner's body was accelerated towards the ground far below, smashing into the rocks and stones. Goku flew down to see if he was still alive. A moan gave away the location of his foe.

Ryner's body was nearing its breaking point, he couldn't take much more punishment like this. Long had he feared the Lonely Demon inside him would destroy everything if let loose- but this new enemy was very thoroughly proving that there were far worse threats out there. Goku arrived in front of him, arms crossed and looking upset.

"You can't possibly be the best fighter on your team!" Ryner coughed up a bit of blood. Goku reached forwards and lifted him into the air by the throat, his hand clasped tightly around Ryner's neck. "Someone this weak is of no use to me- you're no challenge at all!" Goku began to squeeze Ryner's throat- intending to break it. He paused as he heard Ryner begin to say something. It was only a whisper, but Goku heard it clearly as Ryner locked eyes with him, the red light still shining from his eyes.

"Sorry... I promised someone they will kill me... and it's not you!" Goku released Ryner and jumped away- not a second too soon as circles with stars in them materialized out of nowhere to hurl black beams of energy at him. One of the beams did manage to clip Goku in the side, managing to draw blood. Goku held a hand to his side- examining his wound. As he stared at his own blood a grin emerged on Goku's face as he looked at his adversary.

"Maybe you're worth fighting after all."

Round 2... and a Half?[]

Lazlo furiously slashed at Maka with his Twin Destiny Fangs- but he wasn't having a lot of luck. The one time he had successfully landed a blow it had failed to penetrate the black blood dress she had conjured up. Now Lazlo was simply attempting to keep her too busy defending herself to do anything else. He'd have to depend on the Boss to take down Sora- oh dear god- he was depending on a mass-murdering lunatic to help him!

This realization was almost the end of Lazlo- Maka had pounced on his moment of weakness to alter her stance- shifting her weight around to sweep at his legs in a manner similar to breakdancing. Lazlo jumped over the attack- activating his Punishment Rune to fire a blast at Maka. Let's see that armor deal with this!

The crimson light struck Maka directly- blasting a crater into the earth. Maka, the black blood can't deal with magical attacks like that! Soul called to Maka as they jumped out of the pit. Maka commanded Soul to grow wings as they ascended into the air.

"I know Soul- we'll just have to not be hit by that again. I hope Sora's doing okay!"

(Meanwhile a short distance away)

"I hope Maka's doing better than I am!" Sora thought to himself as he jumped into the air after his enemy. The Boss hurled a blast of freezing energy at Sora, forcing Sora to create another barrier to block the attack. Cutting them aside didn't work- they simply exploded on contact. The last time Sora had tried that had produced a fireball that had burned him before he healed it off. He still hadn't recovered from using so much magic in such a short time- while his opponent's energy seemed endless.

"Get some!" The Boss yelled as he threw blast after blast at Sora, laughing as the kid struggled to repel the assault. The Boss briefly stopped to flip Sora off- which he realized half a second later was a huge mistake as Sora immediately jumped towards him- the keyblade coming out in a wide arc as he flew through the air. The Boss raised his arm and took a heavy blow- tossing him back into and then crashing down a rock wall. He tumbled downwards, slamming into different formations of stone on the way. Eventually he landed at the bottom, holding his ribs from the pain. He took a second to catch his breath. "That's it- fuck this kid!"

Sora chose this moment to jump over the wall he had just knocked the Boss over, diving straight at him with a swirl of magical light pushing him faster. The Boss extended his hand and Sora stopped in midair- startled for a moment before screaming in pain as his life-energy began pulsing out of him and flowing into the Boss. Various scars and bruises began to fade as the Boss smiled. Having superpowers was awesome!

Some distance away, flashes of light indicated a different battle.

Cloud vs squall by lone lanrete

Squall and Cloud were both running up a nearby cliff, trading blows the entire way up. When they reached the top the two jumped into the air, continuing to fight evenly. The two separated in the air, both eventually coming to rest on a rocky outcropping. Squall whirled his blade behind himself as he raised a hand- Cloud replicated the move, bringing his own arm up- the two began to cast spells at one another rapidly:

"Firaga!" as two flaming torrents clashed to set the air on fire.

"Thundaga!" saw two lightning bolts strike one another.

"Aero!" produced a mighty wind that whirled through the space around the pair.

Cloud and Squall gave up on magics for the moment as Squall enhanced the reach of his gunblade, a brightly shining blade forming as he sliced downwards at Cloud. Cloud jumped backwards as the blow cut straight through the stone beneath them- causing the entire spur they stood upon to plummet towards the ground. Cloud and Squall flipped through the air, landing squarely in front of one another. The two stilled for a moment as they wondered at the other. Squall looked puzzled.

"Have we met before?"

Cloud shook his head, "Shut up!" before jumping into the air. He brought his blade down with a glowing blue energy surrounding it- leaving a gash where Squall had been standing. The two began to physically battle again- Squall managed to slip past Cloud's guard once and give him a gash along the side. Cloud responded by splitting his weapon in two and landing a blow on Squall's shoulder. The bladeplay began to intensify- Squall falling back as Cloud used his dual-weapons to their full advantage- keeping Squall on defense.

The clash between the two produced streamers of energy for every blow, every clash of blades, every block and parry. The air veritably crackled between the two as they both surged with energy- enhancing their speed past their previous limits and slicing at one another. The final exchange occurred in the blink of an eye- over a dozen strikes being exchanged in an instant. Squall and Cloud both fell backwards, bleeding from multiple wounds. Both knelt on the ground, gasping in pain, summoning the last of their strength to keep fighting.

With a mighty yell they jumped at one another once more- determined to end their enemy once and for all- whatever the cost. Cloud rammed his Fusion Sword into Squall's gut just as Squall ran Cloud through with the Lionhart. They both screamed in pain before collapsing apart, unable to stand any longer. But they tried- using their weapons as crutches Squall and Cloud forced themselves back up. They could still fight- both crept to their feet slowly- in incredible agony. They both leaned on their weapons, blood pouring out from their wounds, as they each raised an arm to deal one last spell at one another. It was the final gambit- winner take all!

"Ultima!"

"Apocalypse!"

An explosion of power erupted across the area, the mighty energies died down to reveal the Fusion Sword embedded in the ground, with no trace of Cloud remaining. Squall continued to use his gunblade for support, unable to stand on his own power. He looked up as he heard a new noise, the samurai with six swords was standing in front of him, smiling.

Meanwhile, Maka and Sora were starting to build a formidable lead on their opposition. Maka had sensed Sora's distress and immediately flown to his aid, breaking The Boss's hold on him. Sora has quickly healed back his injuries- but he had yet to recover his magic from doing so. Maka was surprised when The Boss drew a pair of blades from behind his back, deflecting the blows from both her and Sora before he jumped away.

"Maka- those are Kirito's swords!" Sora called out in worry, recognizing the weapons. Maka scowled.

"I know, he must've stolen them from Kirito after he beat him!" Maka hefted Soul, extending her soul perception to find Lazlo. He was just now cresting the top of a nearby hill, gazing down at the group of them. The two of them had managed to get a few hits in on The Boss, though nothing eppeared life-threatening. The Boss leaped upwards an incredible distance, reaching the top of the mountain easily to reunite with his ally. Maka and Sora nodded at one another before racing up the spire of rock. The Boss was panting from his exertions.

"Alright Lazlo- I've done enough heavy lifting- help me out ya wanker!"

Lazlo lifted his hand into the air, with a scream the True Rune of Punishment manifested its power.

Maka and Sora jumped back off the cliff as rays of crimson energy whipped towards them- blowing up parts of the cliff. The attack continued, the blasting energy chasing the two as they ran backwards, explosions following them the entire way. Sora took a gamble and leaped into the path of the blast- using his magic to try and shield the blow. The blast hammered into his shield and then pierced it- causing a blast of red magic that knocked Sora backwards. Sora rolled to recover and ducked into cover that Soul directed him too. Maka was hiding behind a rock and shaking. Sora took a moment to reach out and grab her hand this time.

"Maka? What's wrong?"

Maka shuddered as Soul spoke in her place. That thing the one guy has- it's holding souls- a lot of them. It makes keeping track of him easy but on the other hand...

Sora grimaced and held onto his shoulder. "I know- I didn't think it would go through my shield- that thing's powerful!"

The Boss was looking at Lazlo with newfound respect. "Wow mate, didn't think you had it in you." Lazlo lowered his hand, breathing heavily. The True Rune no longer stole his life when he used it- but it still took a fair bit of energy to use. The Boss put an arm over Lazlo's shoulder, offering him a drink, which Lazlo waved away. The Boss took a chug before tossing the bottle down the cliff. "Alright mate- check this out." The Boss jumped into the air and dived towards where Maka and Sora were hiding, landing on the rock and grinning at the two of them. Sora and Maka both immediately flung themselves at him- attempting to land a blow. The Boss held out his hand and blasted the ground beneath him with an eruption of cold energy, freezing Sora and Maka solid. The Boss laughed and picked up Maka's statue to bash Sora's with it- breaking the two free of their icy prisons but throwing the both of them far off to the side. Lazlo reached The Boss as a shadow appeared over the group and Squall fell to the ground next to them, still bleeding. The duo looked up as Date Masamune landed near Sora and Maka. The one-eyed dragon appeared concerned about his team's safety.

"You two okay?"

Sora and Maka shook their heads, they'd worked fairly hard to defeat Yu and Luke, by comparison the two they were fighting barely looked like they had expended themselves at all when the battle commenced. Date sighed and looked over his shoulder at the opposition. "Guess we're in for a hell of a party!"

Squall meanwhile was healing himself with magic, assisted by Lazlo and his water rune. The Boss meanwhile was gyrating in the direction of their enemies. Squall shook his head as he felt his full vitality return to him.

"That guy in blue is amazing- all I could do was block a single blow and he knocked me all the way over here. We need a strategy."

Round 3[]

Friendly-final-winner-team2

The two groups of fighters stared at one another before an explosion of light formed in the distance- Goku and Ryner's battle had caused a series of fissures to crack open between and around the teams- molten rock surged to the surface as both groups stood in the midst of a transformed battlefield. The sky turned dark as lightning flashed in the clouds. Truly, the battle was leaving catastrophic effects on the environment.

Date pulled out his claws, "Alright you two, hang back and rest up a bit- these guys are mine!" Date leaped up into the sky, diving towards the enemy team. Sora groaned and stood back up. Maka looked confused.

"Sora- he said to hang back!"

Sora looked over his shoulder at Maka. "We're a team and you guys are my friends- our strength is by fighting together."

Alright, maybe he's almost as cool as me. Soul relayed back to Maka. Maka sighed before standing back herself. "Alright then Sora- let's go!" The two jumped off to follow Date, who had left them in the dust in his haste for battle.

"War Dance!" Date screamed as he lashed out in all directions with his claws, throwing Lazlo and the Boss backwards. Squall threw a small meteor at Date- which was carved into pieces before it could actually strike him. Date jumped towards the newest enemy and began slashing like mad- forcing Squall farther and farther back. Squall eventually stood with his back to a gaping chasm of flames as he struggled to hold off his opponent.

Date raised his hand to deliver another blow before he felt himself picked up and thrown through the air. The Boss stood nearby- his hand pointing towards Date as he completed the throwing gesture for his telekinetic attack. Date flipped and landed easily- though he was no longer smiling. "I'm mad." That attack had been cheap- Date didn't like people who fought with tricks. The Boss cursed as Maka and Sora jumped at him again, he used the same power to grab Sora and toss him away as Lazlo intercepted Maka- blocking the attack and forcing her to back away for a moment.

Date had eyes only for the Boss- he launched himself at him while he was pre-occupied- fully intending to cut him down where he stood. Squall threw out his arm- focusing on the magic that might save the Boss from certain death- the spell that they were gambling on. "Aura!"

The Boss suddenly felt himself powered up- like he'd just had Saints Flow directly injected into his veins. He channeled this energy into his palm, causing a bright purple light to start pulsing in it. Date was almost upon him as the Boss hurled the purple light point-blank into the ground- causing a massive purple explosion to surge through the area. All 6 combatants were eclipsed in the light momentarily before it faded. Lazlo and Squall were still on guard but noticed Date, Maka, and Sora had all ceased trying to attack. The Boss laughed.

"Thanks Squall, I blasted their minds- they all work for us now!"

All 6 of them looked up to see Goku punch Ryner in the chest in an explosion of energy- causing Ryner to cough up blood and plummet to the ground- crashing to the ground and bouncing before he ceased moving. Blood pooled out around his body as everyone gathered around Ryner as he struggled to move.

"The final nap..." Ryner's glowing eyes began to drift close- the lonely demon had fought its hardest- but it just hadn't been enough. Squall laid a hand on Ryner's body as his eyes finally shut for good- his body vanishing to leave nothing behind. Goku flew high above the combatants, arms crossed as blood from the few wounds Ryner had inflicted on him dripped to the ground. They hurt- but when had pain ever stopped him? It hadn't in the past and it wouldn't now.

"You can all fight me together- it makes no difference!"

The Final Battle[]

Goku fired a barrage of ki blasts at the ground, leaving vast craters as the united opposition scattered. Each blast was massive- hurling tons of stone and rock through the air as the explosion lifted some characters off of their feet. Goku stopped exerting himself and landed on the ground, taking a moment to glare at the 6 warriors who surrounded him. All of them stood several meters apart, forming a circle around the Super Saiyan as each of them prepared to take on the most dangerous opponent on the field.

Maka hefted Soul over her head, bracing her feat and whirling Soul around to keep him in a good position for whatever might happen. Sora crouched low, holding his keyblade out and ready for anything. Date had his claws out, electricity crackling over all 6 blades. The Boss lit a joint from the nearby lava flow before smoking it. Lazlo was nervously bouncing in pace- both of his swords drawn and held defensively. Squall stood still as stone, not taking his eyes off of his opponent. The very air seemed to draw still- as if the universe and everyone in it were holding their breath- no noise could be heard but the bubbling of the magma and crumbling of stone as more and more of the landscape fell apart.

Without warning, all 6 warriors jumped towards Goku, trying to cut at him. Date reached him first, bringing both of his claws sweeping downwards at Goku's head. Goku blocked the blow and punched Date square in the chest, hurling him backwards and crashing into a mountain as a cascade of stone buried him. The Boss reached Goku next, attempting to punch Goku in the groin. Goku jumped upwardsto avoid the strike, kicking the Boss in the face and knocking him flying through the air. The others all faced Goku at more or less the same time- all trying to land a blow on him. They could not do so. Goku blocked Squall's gunblade with his bare hand- flexing his muscles and shattering the blade in a burst of blue energy as Squall was thrown back. Goku ducked the initial swing from Maka before grabbing her wrist and smashing her into Sora- disabling both of them for the moment. Lazlo attempted to stab Goku in the arm and managed to land the attack- to no effect. Goku pivoted and brought his leg around for a snap-kick, Lazlo felt his ribs shatter as the blow landed- flipping the boy head over heels in the other direction.

Goku turned back to Maka and Sora to fire a ki blast at them. Sora's shield blocked the attack- causing Goku to throw more and more at him. Sora's shield was quickly overwhelmed- the final ki blast surged forwards- only to be deflected by Date's swords. Goku snarled and threw a stronger blast at Date, who again tried to block the attack. Lord Masamune was pushed backwards, straining against the ball of ki energy in order to protect Sora and Maka. He kept this fight up until the blast finally went off- shattering 5 of Date's claws and destroying his helmet as he fell to his knees. The Boss threw a mind blast at Goku- who shook it off without issue- he was far too strong for such a weakling to control him. Squall still had the shattered remains of his gunblade in his hand- he stood up- a blue shine glowing in his eyes- looking almost like a star. Lazlo used his True Rune to try and hit Goku- the blast staggering him slightly but otherwise having no effect. Goku threw a ki blast in response, Lazlo using his True Rune in an attempt to counter it. The red glow managed to overcome the attack but Lazlo fell to his knees, hardly able to keep fighting after blocking such an attack. Team 2 was on its last legs and certain doom awaited them all.

Maka- there's only one way we can take him! Soul sat down at his piano and played like his life depended on it- the two reached out to the others- all of them. The souls of all the remaining warriors began to resonate with one another- their hearts beat as one!

Maka/Soul/Sora/Date/Lazlo/Boss/Squall: SOUL RESONANCE!

Final-soul-resonance

The six of them regained their feet and jumped upwards to charge Goku, enhanced beyond their normal levels by the bonding powers of their hearts and souls! A flurry of blows rained down on Goku: a sword, a shattered gunblade, daggers, a scythe, a keyblade, and even one purple dildo. Goku screamed in pain as the multitude of impacts hit him- alone the attacks would be beneath his notice- but en masse they began to hurt. Goku's fury and power surged higher as he screamed and blasted his opponents away from himself with a wave of golden energy- leaving them all suspended in the air.

"I will not lose!"

Goku's anger and power flared even further- he flew through the air at high speeds- hitting each opponent with heavy strikes. A crushing blow to Sora's head sent the boy hurtling to the ground, Sora smashed into the ground and didn't move from there. Date took several punches to the chest again- blood gushing from his mouth as he was thrown back into the mountain from the hits. Maka met the same fate- Goku's strike shattering several ribs even through her black blood armor as her body was accelerated downwards alongside Date's. Lazlo extended his arm to throw another blast at Goku but was surprised as Goku vanished and appeared next to him- grabbing the arm the True Rune of Punishment- Lazlo screamed as Goku spun in the air and threw him downwards, breaking Lazlo's arm. He then shifted his attention to Squall and the Boss- placing his fingers to his head to instantly transmission over to them. The Boss grit his teeth and reached out to use his telekinesis on Squall- tossing him out of the way as Goku brought both fists down on the Boss's spine- sending him impacting into the ground and leaving a large crater.

Goku was infuriated as he saw them all still moving, still fighting, still alive. "I will defeat you!" Goku drew back his hands and gathered his ki into them- creating a glowing azure orb of energy. Lightning crackled around his body as the energy caused the ground to ripple as if it were water- torrents of fire leaped high into the air. "I'll destroy you- and your weapons- and this planet!" The group below drew together- Maka's Soul Resonance drawing them all together. "KAMEHAMEHAAA!" Goku screamed as he threw his attack down at his enemies.

Lazlo raised his arm- feeling the strength of the group pounding in his heart- using all of his effort to raise his shattered arm to point his dagger at Goku- the True Rune of Punishment shining brightly. The arm began to fall before the Boss reached up and helped support it from the ground. Sora raised his keyblade to touch Lazlo's arm. Date and Maka added their weapons to the group- energy flowing through them all to be funneled into Lazlo's rune. A beam of crimson light formed in front of the party and flew upwards- clashing with Goku's Kamehameha. Mountains fell- great waves were formed in the sea- trees worldwide shook as though from a powerful wind- the very planet quaked with the force of the two energies impacting one another! The red beam began to crack and flex as it moved back to the Earth- it could not withstand the power being sent at it! Goku grinned as he forced more and more strength into his attack- focusing only on destroying his opponents. It was then he sensed a massive power-level coming from- above him?

Goku looked upwards to see Squall hanging in the air just below cloud-level- a blue ball of energy held in his own hands. Goku's eyes widened in shock as he heard the words come from Squall's mouth.

"Ka-me-ha-me-ha!" Squall called out the name as the stream of energy surged from his hand right towards Goku. Blue stars shined from Squall's eyes, causing the beam to turn black as it raced towards Goku. Goku raised his arm- trying to block the blast with one arm- both the beam below and the beam above began to win against Goku's strength. Goku screamed as both attacks finally won out against him- his Kamehameha was broken as each group's attack reached him- causing a mighty blast of rainbow energies to ripple out across the sky. The explosion swept across the surface of the planet- destroying every dark cloud there was and leaving the sky blue again as the sun shone down on the heroes who had survived the ordeal.

K.O.

Conclusion[]

Whiz: Friendly- you're cheating again- you're writing before the battle is done!

Boomstick: Why that conniving little-

Friendly: Hey- I can at least explain the battles already written in! The conclusion is going to take a long time as it is!

Boomstick: So long as you don't spoil anything- I guess we can allow it- proceed Friendly.

Whiz: Boomstick- you remember we have to help with this part too right?

Boomstick: Dammit... this takes so long... what's up with the line about Asuna anyways?

Friendly: Oh that's simple, Boss kicked Kirito in the junk so hard Asuna felt it. (Boomstick's laughter can be heard)

Whiz: Yeah, Kite may have the data drain for dealing with other data entities- but he has to not be blitzed to use it. The Boss is just so far beyond Kirito and Kite in stats that he could honestly probably take both at once through physical feats alone- let alone using his powers.

Boomstick: Kirito might be able to deflect bullets, but Boss moves even faster than bullets and Lazlo can swing fast enough to create a tornado.

Whiz: Kite and Kirito have some formidable powers that they can use once they get going- but if they're taken down fast enough they'll never get the chance to use them.

Friendly: Especially when someone like The Boss is involved- he doesn't hold back- if you're his enemy you're going down.

Boomstick: So what about Cloud and Soma? Was the edginess just too much for him?

Whiz: Well frankly, Cloud had almost every advantage in that battle- stronger, faster, more durable, better trained-

Friendly: And he has immunity to almost everything Soma could throw at him- meaning his souls were almost worthless.

Boomstick: Guess Cloud just cruz-ed his way to victory.

Whiz: It doesn't help that Cloud's reserves for magic exceeded Soma's by a wide margin.

Friendly: Having a limit on your magic is only a weakness if you can reach that limit- it would take Cloud dozens of spells to empty out all of his MP. By contrast Soma runs out fairly quickly.

Boomstick: A shame, the kid was growing on me.

Whiz: What about the battle between Maka/Sora and Yu/Luke?

Friendly: While all four of them had experience fighting as a team, Maka holds the trump card for rating teamwork- the Soul Resonance. That boosts how strong everyone fighting is and helps them fight alongside one another- and Sora was a perfect match since he also can form special attacks with allied characters.

Boomstick: Guess the key to teamwork is letting the crazy girl's scythe bond with your soul- well that doesn't sound weird does it?

Whiz: Not to mention Luke and Yu are slightly lacking in durability and speed feats- making them easy targets for Maka and Sora even without the resonance. Even the numbers advantage Izanagi gave them wasn't enough to fully overcome their superior physical stats.

Boomstick: That reminds me- last time he was swapping Persona's like mad- how come he just used Izanagi here?

Friendly: Primarily because Maka when using her special scythe attacks would likely go through any defenses those Persona could raise. But also because Sora can channel magic into his physical attacks as well- making him much harder to properly defend against compared to Yu's former opponent. Also because this is going to take a long-ass time to finish as is.

Whiz: And Luke may have a lot of firepower at his disposal- but he's pretty against using it unless the situation calls for it- and it doesn't help that Maka and Sora both know better than to let an opponent power up like that.

Boomstick: And then they have Luke a little bit off the top- haha!

Whiz: Moving on to War vs Squall?

Friendly: Well Squall has a very powerful advantage in that he can quickly learn about the weaknesses and powers of his enemy with 'Scan'. You'll notice in Yu's battles he relies on someone else to do the scanning and learning- making him automatically an inferior strategist to Squall because of the knowledge barrier.

Whiz: And his ability to Draw enabled him to be entirely immune to War's magical attacks, removing half of War's abilities without a hitch

Boomstick: How does that work anyways? Draw me a picture.

Friendly: Think of it like a vaccine- once Squall deliberately takes a magical attack he can make himself immune to it- if not outright healing from it. Not only can he use this defensively, but offensively as well- allowing him to use an opponent's magic against them.

Whiz: And Squall even retains the skill in the new Dissidia title- he can even go further and steal attacks too- not just magic.

Boomstick: War's pretty strong- but speed isn't his strong-point- he mostly just roars and hits things.

Whiz: With magic out and his physical attacks being negated by speed, it's hard to envision a scenario where War could definitively pull off a win against Squall.

Friendly: War is extremely agile for someone of his size and bearing, but Squall had all the cards needed to take him down.

Boomstick: War- aww man- what was he good for?

Whiz: Apparently about as much as Hiei.

Friendly: Yeah, Date vs Hiei was a neat fight- those are two of my more-liked characters.

Boomstick: Pretty sure I hate you for killing my demon samurai.

Whiz: It's not altogether Friendly's fault- Hiei has big claims to his power but precious little to show for it in terms of feats.

Boomstick: I was hoping Hiei would burn Date to a crisp...

Friendly: Not for lack of trying mind you, Hiei has tried using his firepower in that way before, but Hiei's fire burns hot enough to destroy a large metal axe. Date routinely fights Sanada- and the fires of his heart have outpowered a machine that melted an entire cliff.

Whiz: Plus Date has the odd ability known as Jumping Jack Breaker- allowing him to pin an opponent down and restrain them. While it's possible to break out of the seal- it does leave the enemy helpless for Date's finishing blow.

Boomstick: Guess Hiei was just too burned out to finish him.

Whiz: And then you had to have Squall and Cloud fight? Why? That's a repeat of a previous battle you did.

Friendly: Well that was a blog- and the main reason I didn't write combat in it was even back then I knew this was going to be a thing. Seemed a waste to write the same fight twice.

Boomstick: And you're sticking with Squall being able to beat Cloud?

Whiz: Squall does have the magical edge, with his canon ability to steal magic he can automatically match his opponent in any magical endeavor. Not to mention he can have the Apocalypse spell- specifically meant to be stronger than Ultima- Cloud's greatest spell.

Friendly: And while Cloud is faster, Squall is stronger- Cloud's speed is also not so far above Squall's that Squall is unable to fight back- making this one of the most even fights I've ever done. But when Squall can take anything Cloud can dish out- you kinda have to lean his way.

Boomstick: Oh well- Cloud can always go talk to a wall.

Whiz: You wanna help explain how that Round 2.5 worked Friendly?

Friendly: The short version is that The Boss has TK- especially with a life-draining quality to it. A similar technique worked quite well against Sora so I'm fairly sure The Boss would be set as well.

Boomstick: Yeah- Sora doesn't have the best record against that kind of attack does he?

Whiz: And I know we sound like a broken record, but The Boss' abilities really are formidable.

Friendly: The mind control attack is especially valuable in that it's a blast- meaning the Boss can spam it as much as he wants until it works.

Whiz: Very few combatants on Team 1 have a resistance to mind-control. In fact- with the exception of Goku- nearly all of them have been disabled or proven quite susceptible to mental attacks at one point or another.

Boomstick: From Boss in name to being their Boss for real.

Friendly: Even Date has no real counter to it- add in how it's a giant AoE that the Boss can use freely and the Boss controlling most of Team 1 to fight on his side is actually quite plausible.

Boomstick: Yeah they're gonna need it- what with Goku destroying Ryney.

Whiz: Ryner has a fearsome power within him- but its capabilities haven't really been explored that much. He does throw around firepower potent enough that he'd definitely be able to put the hurt on a DBZ character, but defeat them in 1v1 combat? Not happening.

Friendly: That said, Ryner's ability to analyze the power of his enemies and his willingness to sacrifice himself actually did allow him an interesting gambit- keep Goku busy and pray the rest of his team could figure something out.

Whiz: So Friendly- want to run us by the finale?

Friendly: Honestly the more variables you have in a battle- the harder it is to get a solid feel for how it will transpire- any number of combinations could've resulted from these battles and-

Boomstick: Now you explain something to me Friendly- why did you make Goku lose?! When we do that we get tons of hate and I expect no different for you!

Whiz: Well the further we went into researching and planning- the more obvious it became that most of Team 2 held considerable advantages to most of their Team 1 counterparts. With this in mind it quickly because apparently there was only one real question that needed answered.

Friendly: Was there any way Team 2 could stop pre-Super Goku?

Boomstick: Before you Go there- how did you decide who would get to the end?

Whiz: Well we've already gone over most of the single matches- but we were also looking at overall values for the teams as well. One of the main factors we had in mind was how much effort had to go into any victory either side had, plus whether the battle between the various groups would take long enough for them to get into multiple battles.

Friendly: The Boss and Lazlo for example could defeat Kite and Kirito easily- with very little effort on the part of the Team 2... team. By contrast, Maka and Sora vs Luke and Yu was a much closer match-up and would require a lot more work from Team 1 to pull out the win.

Boomstick: So you didn't only care who would win- but how hard they would win?

Friendly: Pretty much- you can win a fight by the skin of your teeth or by a mile- the difference matters when you have more fighting to do afterwords.

Whiz: That's was another advantage Team 2 had in spades- healing powers. Cloud and Sora have healing powers but Cloud isn't really known for it and it takes a lot out of Sora. Cloud's loner attitude also somewhat counters his healing possibilities even further.

Friendly: By contrast, FF8 and Suikoden directly reference their healing abilities in canon- giving them a 1-up in terms of staying power. Soma and the Boss can heal too- just not as well for the team as much as making them somewhat self-sufficient.

Boomstick: Alright- no more stalling- why did you decide Team 2 would win?

Whiz: One of the reasons was that the two biggest hitters on Team 1, Goku and Date, had much closer matches than some of their lightweight allies. Meaning Team 2 could win a few small battles faster and build on that before Team 1's best fighters could win free to throw their power around.

Friendly: Another big reason was Squall. Him being able to take anyone's powers and use them makes him the ultimate wildcard. That sort of potential is not something to take lightly.

Boomstick: Hide your magic, hide your skills, hide your summons and your ki techniques- it's all up for grabs!

Whiz: That's not to say Squall can take all of the credit- the Boss' ability to turn enemies to allies is not something to undersell- every enemy gained is an ally lost for Team 1. In theory it could've ended up as 15v1 against Goku.

Friendly: Goku's fast- and strong- but his willingness to let his enemies use their abilities works against him quite strongly. He damn-near never attempts to stop someone from using their skills, instead he prefers to let them try and work around it. This approach has cost him again and again- and this time was no exception.

Boomstick: So Goku really is his own worst enemy?

Whiz: In more ways than one it seems. In a 1v1 Goku would be able to take on nearly anyone here.

Friendly: But this wasn't a 1v1, this was a team battle- although if you think about it- causing Team 1 to join Team 2 really means both were winners doesn't it?

Boomstick: Wow, you're a sap.

Friendly: I know.

Whiz: The winner is... everyone!
