Opening[]
Wiz: Freddy Krueger, Elm Street’s sadistic dream demon!
Boomstick: And Omori, the mindscape avatar from the most depressing indie game!
Wiz: Out of every aspect of our lives, our minds may be the most confusing and sometimes scary.
Boomstick: Especially when there’s someone in your head that doesn’t have your best interest at heart. He’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick!
Wiz: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a death battle!
Freddy Krueger[]
Boomstick: In the humble town of Elm Street, there was one issue. A horrific nightmare that haunts dreams and kills you in your sleep! He’s like the Boogeyman if he looked like melted cheese.
Wiz: This was Freddy Krueger, the dream demon. However, he wasn’t always the nightmarish (pun intended) creature he is today.
Boomstick: Freddy’s mother, Amanda Krueger, was a nun working at a hospital when she-ugh-got raped by 100 psychopaths!
Wiz: Disgusting. She ended up having a child from this…ordeal which was named Freddy.
Boomstick: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Freddy was a bit messed up! Often being called the son of 100 psychopaths, he grew up to be a child murderer.
Wiz: Although he managed to get away scot free from the law, the parents of the children tracked him down and burned him alive. But before his death, he made a deal with some demons, making him a dream demon!
Boomstick: He began entering the dreams of teenagers and killing them inside them, striking the town in fear! And this lasted for…many sequels!
Wiz: The most terrifying thing about Freddy is that you cannot escape him. You can try and stay awake all you like, but you will eventually fall asleep. And in your dreams, there is no escape!
Boomstick: And that leads us neatly into his abilities! When he invades your dreams, he can do whatever he wants!
Wiz: Freddy can do pretty much anything you can think of and more. For example, he can teleport, summon monsters, control the elements, change his size and completely control the environment! And this is just the tip of the iceberg!
Boomstick: His powers are pretty much only limited by his imagination and twisted sense of humor. Oh boy, his sense of humor!
Freddy: How’s this for a wet dream! (Proceeds to drown a child)
Wiz: While Freddy is very creative with his kills, he does have some preferred methods. His favorite weapon is his iconic clawed glove, which he is very precise with.
Boomstick: chuckles And he can even amplify it with the-haha-trademarked Power Glove falls to the floor laughing Aw man these movies! Freddy may have stopped being scary to the audience, but he never stopped being funny!
Wiz: sigh Anyways, he is nearly invincible in the dream world, as he can regenerate all forms of harm.
Plays a clip of Freddy slicing off his fingers and regrowing them to intimidate Nancy
Boomstick: Freddy has even more notable abilities with his ability to read your mind to discover your fears and even possess the person whose dreams he’s haunting!
Wiz: But Freddy is more than flashy powers and corny references. He’s surprisingly intelligent. He is capable of creating traps, masterfully manipulating the environment, and knows exactly how to drive the most possible fear out of you!
Boomstick: In the canon books, the Dream World is described as an entire universe, which Freddy has power over!
Wiz: With these abilities he can go against horror icons like Jason Voorhees and Ash Williams! He’s been “killed” multiple times only to come back.
Boomstick: However, Freddy isn’t perfect. He’s lost to teenagers after all!
Wiz: This is due to his multiple weaknesses. One of them is his constant need to play with his food and torture his victims in progressively more elaborate ways.
Boomstick: This can mean he underestimates people often. If a person he’s haunting is somehow able to wake themselves up, he’ll have to wait for them to go to sleep again.
Wiz: Last but not least, Freddy draws power from the fear he instills. This can be a double edged sword as if his opponents don’t fear him, he’ll be made weaker.
Boomstick: But still if you hear that familiar twisted nursery rhyme, just know that the Springwood Slasher is coming for you!
“This…is god!”
Omori[]
(Spoilers afoot)
Wiz: Do we deserve forgiveness? This question has plagued us for years.
Boomstick: Uh, sure buddy, but let’s get to the game. Sunny was a happy boy who spent lots of time playing with his friends.
Wiz: However, one event would change this. Sunny’s beloved sister Mari had ended her own life. This caused Sunny to go into a dark depression, dropping out of school and staying in his house.
Boomstick: Oh. The boy fled to the one place he could be happy: his mind. All was well here, Sunny could be with his friends.
Wiz: And to represent him in his mind was Omori. The best way to describe Omori is sort of like Sunny self insert OC.
Boomstick: But it soon became clear that he was hiding something. Sunny began to uncover a “secret truth” Omori was hiding. But for the same of suspense we’re gonna talk about what he can do first.
Wiz: Omoris main method of attack is his trademark Knife, which he uses to fight enemies in Headspace. He can use the move Hack Away to slash his opponent’s at random, use the lucky slash to always attack first, and the Final Strike does more damage depending on emotions.
Boomstick: Speaking of emotions, it’s the source of Omoris strongest hax! He can manipulate your emotions to make you sad, angry, or happy!
Wiz: To put it simply, emotions in Omori have a rock paper scissors effect. Sadness beats happiness, anger beats sadness, and happiness beats anger! Omori has many ways to change these emotions and gain the upper hand.
Boomstick: And there is a fourth emotion: afraid! This emotion makes you incapable of attacking, although like all of the other emotions this can be used against him if you can give him fear.
Wiz: Omori also possesses a mysterious form of attack known as the red hands. These stretchy red appendages can cross gaps, grab foes, and attack! The best part is that there can be as many and can be as big as he wants!
Boomstick: This is ignoring my favorite of his powers: dynamite! Mixed with his ability to heal with food items, he’s a force to be reckoned with! Even more so with his power to travel to and defeat other planets!
Wiz: But eventually Sunny learns the secret he’s hiding: Mari didn’t kill herself. Sunny got frustrated with the girl, as children do, and accidentally pushed her down the stairs, killing her.
Boomstick: And this is where Omoris true nature shines! While “protecting” Sunny, he showed off the ability to reset and manipulate the headspace! And it’s hear when he showed that he can actually talk!
Wiz: This was all in an attempt to convince Sunny to give up and end his own life. However, Sunny comes to accept Omori, which is symbolism for him accepting his grief and not letting it take over you. We all have an Omori in our brains, but it’s not about letting grief take over. It’s learning from it.
FIGHT![]
Sunny was asleep. Dreaming like he often does. But with dreams, comes nightmares.
The camera zooms into Sunny’s mind. It is a white void known as Headspace. An iconic black lightbulb hangs overhead. But breaking up the perfect silence is a clawed hand ripping open a hole in the void and lumbering into the mind ominously. The figure was vaguely human, wearing a green and red sweater and a fedora. His clawed glove hand went up a bit and touched his face, which was covered in burn marks. This was Freddy Krueger!
In another area was a boy in only black and white colors and wielding a knife, Omori! The Dream Demon chuckled as he appeared behind him.
”Heya, Sunny!” said the monster in a deep voice, “You’ve got a really boring mind, you know that?”
The boy turned around, but before he could slash the environment around him changed. He was now in a boiler room, one of Freddy’s favorite locations.
”Lights out, monochrome!” yelled Freddy as he appeared at a slight distance before throwing his arm to the side and launching knifes out of his glove!
FIGHT!
Omori took note of the blades flying towards him and maneuvered around them. The claws grew back on Freddy’s hand as he runs up to the child to slash him. Omori tanks the attack and delivers two knife slashes.
The slasher quickly regens before kicking out his leg to send the child backwards. Omori used the lucky strike to attack first and sliced the Springwood Slasher’s head clean off.
”What a way to get ahead!” said Freddy as his head flew through the air, slammed into Omoris back, and landed back on his body, “Talk about a headbutt!”
Freddy waved his hand and the pipes in the boiler room began to move and contort. They came to life like snakes and ripped themselves from the machine before blasting steaming air and boiling water at Omori.
He sidestepped these potentially lethal blasts as more pipes began firing. Before he could be burned, he leaped up into the air and sliced through the machines like butter before reaching Freddy himself.
Every slice was perfectly coordinated and precise as Omori began hacking away at Freddy, turning him into bloody pieces. Thinking he was finished with this annoyance, he walked away and began wiping the blood off his knife. But the pieces of the killer began moving on the floor.
The parts began piecing back together as the newly regenerated Freddy launched Omori back. He laughed to himself.
”I am forever! Too bad you’re not!”
Omori ran to Freddy trying to slash him, only for him to reveal he was only a cardboard cutout as the RPG character slashed him in half. Behind the cutout was a smoke bomb, which Omori accidentally set off.
Freddy’s laugh echoed through the smoke filled room as he appeared at random intervals to kick, slash, and toss Omori. The smoke dissipated as the burnt slasher appeared in front of Omori and stabbed him in the eye!
Twisting and turning the knife, Freddy cackled as blood began to flow. Freddy Krueger gained the Happy emotion, while Omori became Sad.
Using the newfound type advantage, Omori sent Freddy flying back with a well placed slash. He then began healing back to full health with his variety of food items, soon being completely regenerated.
As Freddy took note of this, a strong gust of wind similar to a tornado flew around Omori, strong enough to send all of his remaining healing items out of his pockets! Out of Freddy’s iconic hat came a swarm of locusts that ate all of the healing items.
“I love soul food!” said Freddy as the locusts began flying back to him, seeping into his skin and causing him to grow twice as large as Omori was.
The newly enlarged Freddy lumbered towards Omori, staring him down. But he had just the trick for this situation.
Omori reached into his pocket and threw some dynamite in the air between him. This was a risky move as all his healing items had been destroyed.
The blast was so strong that it sent Omori flying out of the house, landing in a creepy forest.
Omori dusted himself off. From one of the trees, an arm in a green and red sleeve extended and dragged Omori towards the tree, before being launched away by a massive branch.
Freddy appeared in a firey smoke as he looked Omori in the eyes. He dashed over and slashed, only for the boy to counter it with his own swing. This continued as they fought through the forest, occasionally slicing down trees.
Freddy’s glove became covered in an 8 bit pixilated energy as it became enhanced by the power glove.
”Now I’m playing with power!” Freddy said as he blasted retro fire out of the glove!
Omori dodged the flames and use his red hand to grab Freddy’s hand and crush the Power Glove. The horror icon managed to destroy the red hand, only for a hundred larger hands to take its place.
”Ah shi-“
He was cut short as the red hands attempted to restrain Freddy. However, a white line appeared over the hands grabbing Freddy. This line turned into a slash mark as the hands were sliced in half.
”I don’t think you understand how much of a big deal I am, brat! IM FREDDY KRUEGER! Often imitated, but never duplicated!”
As he said this, he began duplicating into an army of clones. Meanwhile, Omori was in the center of a storm of never ending red hands. He stared creepily at seemingly nothing, like he was beckoning Freddy into the void.
The Freddies charged forwards, ready to fight the oncoming terror. One of them was slicing them like butter until one of the hands flicked him into the stratosphere. Another was playing rock paper scissors, only for the red hand to draw scissors and slice him in half.
“Engarde!” said another Krueger clone who was attempting to sword fight one of them, only for it to simply enlarge its fist and crush him.
It began to look more and more like the World Of Light trailer. They changed their strategy to attempting to attack the source, which Omori took note of and went on the defensive. A few of them pounced at him with claws out like lions, only to immediately be turned to mush by two giant hands clapping.
Eventually, the original Freddy teleported behind Omori and kicked him right in the face.
”It’s prime time, bitch!” Freddy said as Omori landed to the ground and the clones and hands disappeared.
Omori reached into his pocket and threw explosives at Freddy, only for him to reflect them back with the Mario World cape and sent him flying into the atmosphere. The killer cackled as he flew after Omori with claws outstretched and full intent to kill.
But Omori pulled out a giant red hand, the biggest one in the fight so far, and caught Freddy. He then reeled it back and threw him to the moon with so much force it left a crater. He then tethered himself back to earth. But the fight wasn’t over.
A red and green light flashed through the sky as Freddy rocketed himself back to Earth. When he landed, it didn’t leave a crater but instead teleported him into a dark hallway.
The hallway seemed to stretch for eternity. As Omori walked, there were more signs something was off. The sound of a nursery rhyme, a bloody tricycle, cryptic messages on the wall, and the faint noise of scraping became louder and louder as he walked.
The song was echoed through his mind looping again and again, getting louder and louder until it felt like his brain would burst. Just when he was having enough of this, he bumped into a dead end wall that was definitely not there before. The scraping of metal became more extreme.
Occasionally, a brief yellow light would flash, revealing a shadowy figure. The next thing to appear was the scariest of all. The mutilated bodies of his friends were hanging around him. He began to shake as the scraping got closer and closer. Eventually the light would reveal Freddy mutilating and tossing a body to Omoris feet!
This was Mari’s body. Omoris body became cloaked in purple light revealing he had the emotion of afraid! He dropped his knife as Freddy laughed and shoved his clawed hand into the boys stomach and knives began protruding from Omoris skin!
“It’s the end of the line kid! You’ve been a real annoyance! In fact, you were such a BITCH that your sister dropped dead! Ah but how did that happen again? Allow me to jog your memory!”
The screen briefly cut to Sunny in the real world, who was lifted into the air and blood was shooting from his pores. It cuts back into the Headspace.
The dead end wall morphed into a never ending staircase as Freddy simply pushed him down with one finger. Back in the real world, Sunny fell onto the ground, splattering into a puddle of blood and organs!
KO!
Results[]
Boomstick: Jesus Christ, Wiz! I think I got chills!
Wiz: Surprisingly enough, this was shockingly close. However there were a few things that tipped the odds into Freddy’s favor.
Boomstick: The most obvious of which being the sheer amount of ways he could kill you! While Omoris arsenal is effective, it’s also quite predictable. Freddy on the other hand, there’s no real rules with what he can and can’t do!
Wiz: If Freddy ever decides a fight isn’t going in his favor, he could simply snap his fingers and kill you! But to give Omori credit they are more used to fighting those who can fight back, unlike most of Freddy’s victims.
Boomstick: But fighting foes like Jason and Ash Williams means he knows how to fight if push comes to shove. While Omori may have a strength and speed advantage, it wasn’t enough of a gap to make a difference. Both were around uni in power!
Wiz: Even if he was strong enough to harm Freddy, the killer could just regenerate all damage fairly quickly, making it an uphill battle for Omori.
Boomstick: Omori may have been a prime opponent, but Freddy’s chances on winning were Sunny side up!
Wiz: The winner is Freddy Krueger!
