Flash VS Sonic is a What If? DEATH BATTLE! Episode by Duragoji123.

Description[]

Warner Brothers VS Paramount! Flash and Sonic have both fought each other on DEATH BATTLE! before, each as their most powerful versions in the form of Wally West and Archie Sonic respectively. But now, their film counterparts meet on the track today to decide who will win in this battle of the fastest beings alive.

Interlude[]

(Cue Wiz & Boomstick)

Wiz: For ages, mankind has wondered what it would be like to move so fast that they break the sound barrier on their own. As a result of this, fiction is full of characters who can reach supersonic speeds, and even break past that!

Boomstick: However, almost none of those characters are as most recognized as the Flash, the Scarlet Speedster.

Wiz: And Sonic the Hedgehog, the Fastest Thing Alive. Both of these speedsters have been featured on DEATH BATTLE! before, and have even fought against each other as their most powerful incarnations.

Boomstick: But now, it's time to look at their movie counterparts to see who could kick whose ass in a fight!

Wiz: As it has been confirmed as noncanon, this fight will not be including information given in the Snyderverse. However, everything else for these two will be included. That means the theatrical version of Justice League, the Flash movie, and both Sonic movies along with the Pre-Quill comic will all be on the table to use.

Boomstick: He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find who would win... a DEATH BATTLE!

The Flash Streaks into DEATH BATTLE![]

(Cue The Flash - Main Theme)

Wiz: The world of DC. A world perhaps we are all too familiar with. In this universe, there are those who’d rise up and combat evil. The king of the seas Aquaman, the champion of the Amazons Wonder Woman, the world’s greatest detective Batman, and of course the Man of Steel, Superman himself.

Boomstick: However, none of them are as fast as Barry Allen - the Flash! Aaahhh!~

Wiz: But he wasn’t always heralded as the fastest man alive. At a young age, Barry Allen was like your everyday kid. However, one day, his mother was killed, and his father was framed for the murder.

Boomstick: So, the young Barry's father was arrested and sent to prison. However Allen knew that his father was innocent, so he dedicated his entire life to try and clear his dad's name. Damn, I can kind of empathize with you there Barry...

Wiz: Annnnnyyyyways, Barry Allen from this day forward began studying forensics, getting an internship at a university. However, Barry’s life from here on out would change drastically.

Boomstick: He got struck by a god damn bolt of lightning, and gained the power to move really, really fast!

Wiz: In actuality, this chance so small that most would immediately dismiss it as being zero ended up making Barry into perhaps among the most powerful heroes Earth has ever seen. The lightning bolt had given him a connection to the Speed Force, an interdimensional force which exists between universes.

Boomstick: Essentially, it gave him the ability to move, think, and act at speeds that are insane. Very similar to how it happened in the comics, actually. But put your amazement aside Barry, ‘cuz that’s when some aliens attacked the city of Metropolis.

Wiz: Deciding to use his connection to the Speed Force for good, he recognized that he had to stop these aliens, these Kryptonians. Unfortunately for him though, his efforts to save others would be… let’s say, met with a not-so-desirable outcome.

Boomstick: Jeez, this kid can’t catch a break. First his mom dies, then his father gets wrongly accused of the murder and taken to prison, then he gets struck by lightning - THEN he fails to save people from an alien invasion with the powers he got from said lightning strike.

Wiz: Even with the power to reach speeds beyond comprehension, he had not yet mastered the Speed Force or his usage of it. Everything seemed grim for the people of Metropolis, until a certain red and blue boyscout descended from the sky and stopped the invasion.

Boomstick: Barry found himself enamored with this new hero, who the media dubbed as ‘Superman’. His admiration only grew when that same alien hero sacrificed himself two years later to stop yet another alien, although this time a big ass monster instead of the more human-sized ones.

Wiz: And thus, Barry Allen’s path was clear from here on out. He would follow in that alien hero’s footsteps, and become someone beyond the seeming disappointments of his past. He would become… the, uh… “Red Streak”!

Boomstick: Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me Wiz. The Red Streak? Heheh, I’ve got a few jokes for that, but the higher ups probably wouldn’t enjoy me saying them too much. Well, bad naming conventions aside, he’s got the abilities to back up his status as a superhero too! He can move so fast, that even other equally important heroes look slow around him. Wonder Woman was even capable of reacting to lightning, which places her speed at over Mach 580!

Wiz: Child’s play, Boomstick. This was the same Diana who could block Doomsday’s, the giant monster previously mentioned, heat vision, which is verbatim stated to move at lightspeed. All around, this should make Barry capable of reacting to and moving above speeds of 23% the speed of light.

Boomstick: Makes sense, considering he was shown to at least be able to react to and even endure blows from a bloodlusted Superman on some level. Who, by the way, destroyed the tip of a mountain. Factoring in said mountain’s height and weight, we can determine this to reach an energy output of over 56,000 tons of TNT. Impressive!

Wiz: However, Barry doesn’t just punch and run around his enemies to defeat them. No, he has a kit of nifty abilities as well. He’s capable of slowing his perception down to a crawl, creating devastating winds from his sheer speed, running across water, walls, and other such surfaces, or even generating bio-electricity from both his body and suit which he can use for electrical blasts or to even charge things up.

Boomstick: Though, my favorite ability of his has to be his phasing! By vibrating his molecules at a certain frequency, Barry can pass through solid objects or even bypass all conventional armor and durability to scramble your insides!

Wiz: But perhaps his most potent ability is one which involves running so fast that he surpasses even the speed of light itself. As Einstein’s law of relativity states, the closer an object goes to approaching the speed of light, the slower time will move around said object. This has led to many people speculating that moving beyond lightspeed means breaking through time itself!

Boomstick: In short, Barry can time travel! Speaking of which, that’s how he got the name ‘Flash’, by meeting the CW’s Arrowverse version of the character when the multiverse’s stability was threatened by Mobius the Anti-Monitor. All of this was really useful when Barry realized he could go back in time to save his mother from dying. Which is exactly what he did!

Wiz: By entering into the 'Chronobowl', basically his own personal access to the Speed Force that's shaped sort of like the Roman Colosseum, he can view and interact with the past. He did this to save his mother, however, unbeknownst to Barry, this actually ended up screwing with reality on such a wide scale that it threatened the multiverse itself. Creating a branching timeline, Barry caused a ‘Flashpoint’ of sorts; in this new universe, the Justice League had not been formed and many of the heroes present in the original timeline did not exist.

Boomstick: Which absolutely sucks, especially when you consider Barry just so happened to be spat back out before the Kryptonians invaded Earth. Now realizing the mistake he had made, he tried to get the Barry of this timeline to turn into the Flash, but that failed.

Wiz: Which leads us to perhaps the greatest struggle Barry has to deal with in being a hero, his general incompetence in raw combat scenarios.

Boomstick: While we aren’t saying he’s dumb by any stretch of the imagination, hell even Batman of all people congratulated him on his intelligence, he isn’t the best at hand-to-hand combat. He gets knocked on his ass quite a lot throughout the movies.

Wiz: He also runs, no pun intended, on an accelerated metabolism. He’s constantly required to consume food because of his insane speed, so that can prove to be a problem in the middle of battle.

Boomstick: But, regardless, in the end Barry proved himself to be a hero.

Wiz: This younger Barry was so obsessive over saving the world, that he literally went back through time over and over and over again. Each time, it tore open the fabric of space-time just a bit more, eventually it would have led to the destruction of the entire universe. However, that’s when our own prime Barry stepped in.

Boomstick: Barry had changed his younger self so much, that said younger self was willing to sacrifice everything in his life for the sake of the multiverse. Facing down his future self alongside the prime Barry, the younger one leapt in the way of an attack meant to kill off Flash. In the end, both of the parallel Barry’s died, and the multiverse was saved.

Wiz: Saying one final goodbye to his mother, Barry fixed the timeline back to the way it was by preventing himself from changing the past. The multiverse was saved, even if his original timeline did change quite a bit.

Boomstick: And hey, he even got his dad back! Good job buddy, I’m proud of you. I guess the real lesson we learned today is you can try to change your past mistakes, but those mistakes make you who you are.

Flash: Not every problem has a solution. Sometimes we just have to let go.

Sonic Speeds Up in DEATH BATTLE![]

(Cue Sonic the Hedgehog Movie OST - Main Theme)

Wiz: Tales of beings invading from other worlds, dimensions, and universes have been very prevalent throughout fiction over the years. However, once in a Blue Moon, we get a heartwarming tale of a creature who breaks away from this trope.

Boomstick: Come on, Wiz. I know the little hedgehog is adorable, but is this really heartwarming? I mean, just look at him! Little guy lost his mom…

Wiz: Indeed, but first, let's back up. Once upon a time, in a galaxy very, very far from our own on the other side of the universe, there was a planet called Mobius.

Boomstick: And on Mobius, lived possibly the most rambunctious and chaotic rodent I have ever seen apart from those damn squirrels. Meet Sonic the Hedgehog, though you can just call him Sonic.

Wiz: Sonic viewed this planet as his home, and rightfully so. He lived there with his adoptive parent, Longclaw the Owl.

Boomstick: Even from a young age, Sonic found he possessed an unnatural ability to run really fast. And I mean really, REALLY fast. In fact, he was so fast he could cross his entire island in under two seconds!

Wiz: Because of his innate ability, the hedgehog proved to be quite the handful for Longclaw the Owl. However, like any true mother would, she loved her little Sonic all the same.

Boomstick: That was… UNTIL THE ECHIDNA NATION ATTACKED!

Wiz: That’s right, Boomstick. The Echidna tribe attacked Sonic’s home, killing off Longclaw in the process. However, before she died, the motherly owl gave Sonic access to rings which could take you across the universe.

Boomstick: And with these rings, Sonic very reluctantly left Longclaw behind. He arrived on a new, alien world, and had no knowledge of where to go from there. Saddened and alone, the young Sonic would attempt to make his way in this new world.

Wiz: Welcome to Green Hills, Montana. A small and quiet little rural town in the northern United States. It was here that Sonic took interest in one person, the so-called "Doughnut Lord", also known as Tom Wachowski, the local sheriff of Green Hills.

Boomstick: However, this interest would soon take a turn, as Tom found Sonic scurrying around in his shed one day and… tranquilized him! Only for a mysterious man with a very large mustache to show up.

Wiz: Sonic had been found out by the United States government, and, like every other story out there, they had to get this alien off of their planet one way or another. That’s where their “secret weapon” came into play. Meet, Doctor Robotnik.

Boomstick: With all of this guy's machines, he definitely posed a threat to Sonic, but through the power of family and friendship, Sonic persevered. And he definitely possesses the power to back that up!

Wiz: Sonic’s most defining characteristic, his raw blazing speed, is quite unmatched by pretty much everyone else in his universe. Being able to outrace and even view Robotnik’s firepower as completely standstill, even when said firepower contained bullets and missiles. Factoring in Sonic’s size when in comparison to the missiles, we can determine his speed can reach upwards of nearly 12% the speed of light.

Boomstick: Quite fittingly for something so fast, the little guy is super agile! Whether that be his capoeira-like fighting style, his dynamic in the air, or even curling up into a spikey ball and performing the spin dash!

Wiz: Similar to the video games, the spin dash allows for Sonic to drill through and completely tear apart robotic enemies like Eggman's drones, or even roll up, down, and across various different surfaces like a very spikey, sticky wheel.

Boomstick: That's not even the craziest part. His speed only continues to grow as he absorbs more power from his surroundings! Speaking of which… Sonic has the ability to draw electrical energy from his surroundings, powering up because of it.

Wiz: This is Chaos Energy, a form of energy that gives Sonic his power and speed. With it, he’s durable enough to take shots from Knuckles, a member of the former Echidna clan who attacked and killed Longclaw, who can break apart stone walls outputting almost 26 megajoules of energy.

Boomstick: Hot damn! But even that’s nothing when considering the fact Chaos Energy has the capability of releasing a shockwave of energy so great that it basically EMPed the entirety of the Pacific Northwest’s power. Hell, it was capable of even traveling so far it reached Sonic’s original home planet, and keep in mind the Blue Blur is powered by the stuff!

Wiz: Sonic’s speed also comes with a few added bonuses as well. He can move so fast he can speed across water and run up walls, create afterimages, or even cause shockwaves to generate off of his body. He’s also well-experienced at combat from long or short range.

Boomstick: Knuckles, the warrior who was trained in every form of lethal combat from a young age, even considered him a worthy rival. Even if Sonic is not as experienced or powerful as Knuckles would be, that’s still no easy task to even come close to achieving.

Wiz: Though, perhaps most importantly, Sonic’s most powerful ability is not his overwhelming Chaos Energy, or the rings, or even his speed. No, it was his newfound Earth family. His friends that he met - Tom and his wife Maddie, Tails the Fox, Knuckles the Echidna - they were what really gave Sonic the willpower to fight against Robotnik, now the nefarious Dr. Eggman, and save the world.

Boomstick: By using the power of the Master Emerald, Eggman had constructed a giant machine that would have completely wiped Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and the two humans off the face of the planet. In the face of unmatched genius and unbridled power, who could stop you? A friendship-inspired power boost, that’s what!

Wiz: Maybe it was his drive to protect his friends, maybe it was his desire to live, maybe it was even a coincidence, but somehow the Master Emerald reacted to Sonic’s desire to protect others. It crumbled into the smaller, more pocketable Chaos Emeralds, which had been used long ago to build and even destroy entire civilizations by the Echidna clan. The Owls had risen up to stop them, which is what in actuality led to the events of Sonic arriving on Earth, Longclaw’s death, in the first place.

Boomstick: Absorbing the Chaos Emeralds into himself, the Blue Blur became not so blue anymore! No, he was now something else, something… different. Very different. He had now become a Super Saiyan!- Er, Super Sonic, rather.

Wiz: Super Sonic is far, far beyond anything Sonic was capable of before. Far stronger, far more durable, and most importantly, far more quicker. Now the yellow hedgehog can fly around as a stream of light, capable of blasting through entire chunks of metal effortlessly. Makes sense, as the Chaos Emeralds are stated to literally bring its wielder's wishes into reality.

Boomstick: Like creating objects of all kinds (which Sonic uses to create chili dogs with), generating extreme heat off of his body from his Chaos Energy, possibly causing explosions for those which come into contact with him, and even creating massive storms with a wave of his hand! Speak of the Blue Devil, said storm he generates would come out to 2.84 megatons of TNT.

Wiz: However, Sonic doesn’t come without his drawbacks either. While being fairly capable in combat, he is quite immature and can sometimes act extremely cocky. He also doesn’t really like interacting with large bodies of water. Like, at all. He can’t really swim.

Boomstick: Also, Super Sonic may or may not be an unhinged cannon, while Sonic does still exist within there somewhere, he's clearly different. While Sonic most likely wouldn't have even thought about killing Eggman before, Super Sonic definitely had no problems with letting the mad doctor fall to his death.

Wiz: Even Knuckles says that this Sonic may not be the Sonic that his friends once knew. Good thing Sonic's kindhearted and heroic personality shone through in the end. It proved enough to break out of the transformation of Super Sonic, and sent the Chaos Emeralds flying across space-time itself.

Boomstick: Prove to be a harm to his family or his friends though, and Sonic will not hesitate to send you running for the hills. If you can even outrun him, that is.

Wiz: Sonic may be young, but he’s far from not able to be respected. With Tom and Maddie - and now his two new pals Tails and Knuckles - backing him up, there’s nothing this little guy won’t be able to do.

Sonic: This is my power. And I'm not using it to run away anymore. I'm using it to protect my friends!

Pre-DEATH BATTLE![]

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities.

Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTTTTTTTLLLLEEEE!!!!

DEATH BATTLE![]

Green Hills, Montana

The streets are filled with chaos. Buildings topple over, trees and grass burn, countless people run for their lives yet are unable to escape their destroyer’s wrath. A giant robot looms over everything, its green eyes gazing down towards its destruction below.

Emerald Eggman: Haaaaaaahyahahaha! This i- i- is sooooo, much fun! Now I know how those guys in the giant Japanese monster movies felt!

The mad doctor opens his mouth from within the robot, giving his best kaiju roar, before picking his foot up dramatically slowly and bringing it down on top of several people. However, before he could do so, a red streak darted in and saved the people under his foot.

Emerald Eggman: Huh? Is that buuuuffffffffoon interfering with my takeover still? Ohhhhhh Sonic!~ I know you’re there!

However, the giant robot was stopped in its tracks, when red streaks of light began appearing all over its body, ones of the same variety that had saved the people.

A bit of distance away, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles stood fighting the robots Eggman had sent after them. Though, that’s when they noticed the robot being destroyed in the distance and Eggman apparently being dispatched. Was this the Master Emerald’s doing?

Sonic: Woah, uh, was that supposed to happen?

Sonic would say, as he dispatched a robot by blasting through it with a spin dash, sliding across the ground as he came to a stop. Tails looked over at him, dismantling one of the robots.

Tails: I don’t know, I’m not really sure what just happened.

Knuckles tears one of the other robots in two, before tossing the two separate parts into two more robots which were about to fire missiles at the three animal heroes from the sides, exploding and destroying them.

Knuckles: That’s no work of the Master Emerald. You can tell, because it’s red energy and not green. …But, red energy is my thing…

Sonic leaps up onto a fallen building, looking out at the fallen machine and seeing the same red light dart away from the scene and away from Green Hills.

Sonic: I’m gonna go investigate who the guy who stopped Eggman was. You guys stay here, and keep holding off these freaky eggbots of his!

Tails: Alright, but please Sonic, be careful!

Knuckles: Hmph… I couldn’t care less what happened to you, Hedgehog. But, I also hope you’ll emerge all right. I still need to settle a score with you.

Sonic looked behind him at both Tails and Knuckles, giving them both a thumbs up and a chuckle.

Sonic: Hey, no worries guys! I’ll make it back before dinner, after all, I’m still the Fastest Thing Alive!

With that, Sonic launched ahead, turning into a blue streak of light as he barreled towards the path that the figure of the opposite color took.

The Flash was quickly running across the ocean, tossing the Master Emerald up and down in his right hand which he had just stolen from Eggman. He had the index and middle fingers of his left hand held up to his helmet, as if he was contacting someone.

Flash: Uhhh… Bruce? I found out what the government was so worried about. I think I got him, though. Something about a mad scientist piloting a giant robot, but uh… There was this weird emerald thing that seemed to be powering it. I think it might be connected to the Mother Bo- …

Barry Allen turned to face behind him, seeing a blue light heading for him. Going back to his communication to billionaire Bruce Wayne, he continued.

Flash: I’ll call you back. Gotta take care of something first.

Sonic caught up to Flash, racing alongside him. The two’s footsteps displaced water underneath them, as they raced across the ocean.

Sonic: Yo, buddy! Gonna need you to hand over that emerald thing you got there, it’s veeeeeeery dangerous and- Hey, wait, aren’t you-

Flash: Yeah, uhhh, no can-do. Sorry, but I’ve got to take this thing to good hands where it’ll be safe.

Sonic: You don’t understand! That thing can’t be kept here, it has to be put back where it-

Flash then all of a sudden grabbed hold of Sonic’s back, and raced him forwards to a nearby city.

Sonic: HEY- WOAH!-

Barry dropped him off at a nearby bus stop, patting him on the back at super speed, before dashing away.

Flash: Sorry, gotta run!

Sonic looked around, trying to figure out where Flash had run to, before focusing his eyes straight ahead and darting forward in a burst of blue-hued electrical light.

Sonic neared Flash, once again racing across the ocean, before going to kick Flash in the side of the head with a roundhouse kick.

Sonic: Sorry, but I really can’t let you have that emerald!

Flash: Gh… Alright, you asked for this!

FIGHT![]

(Cue Bad Apple!! Metal Cover)

Flash swings his fist into Sonic’s roundhouse kick, never slowing down for a single millisecond. The following clash of physical attacks causes a massive shockwave, which displaces the water underneath both speedsters and sends them launching away from one another, though they converge back on one another, regaining balance no problem.

Barry would race ahead of Sonic, leaving the hedgehog to eat his dust- er, water, in this case. After, he’d stop running a few meters away from the hedgehog, before blitzing back and decking Sonic across the face at relativistic speeds.

Sonic: Yow!

The Blue Blur launched back, nearly stumbling and falling into the ocean. However he grumbled, steadying himself once more as he rushed forward yet again.

The Red Streak and the Blue Blur clashed with one another while running, their respective colors being all that were visible as they darted across the waves. As they began to near an island, Flash reached out and grabbed Sonic by the legs, before spinning around and tossing him into the island. However, the hedgehog merely turned this around on Barry, using his momentum and agility to bounce off a tree and propel himself back at the Fastest Man Alive.

Curling himself into a ball, Sonic performed a spin dash as he went to crash straight into Flash. However, the Scarlet Speedster merely vibrated his molecules, time moving slow around the fourth-wall’s view, before Sonic launched straight through Barry without affecting him.

Sonic: Woah, woah woah!-

The supersonic hedgehog crashed into the ocean, not being able to stop himself in time. The music began to be drowned out, representing how things were now taken underwater. The classic drowning tune began to play, Sonic noticed Flash racing off above him, as he attempted to swim upwards, but alas he failed. The Blue Blur began sinking, holding his breath for as much as he could, but even that was fruitless, as he began to sink to the bottom. He would’ve nearly blacked out too, if it weren’t for him thinking of a last ditch plan and pulling a ring from… somewhere, before tossing it through the deep blue at such speed that the water resistance was bypassed.

Barry Allen continued running along the waves, heading back to Gotham City to give the Master Emerald to Bruce Wayne. Letting out a huff, the Flash was relieved this was hopefully all over. Still, it did kind of suck having to force a cute little hedgehog to drown like that though-

Suddenly, Allen’s thought process was cut short, when a portal opened in the sky, tons upon tons of water pouring out and back into the ocean. Sonic exploded out of the portal, doing a dynamic pose as he launched down towards Barry.

Sonic: Sorry, but you aren’t gettin’ rid of me that easily. Now, it’s time for you to give me back that emerald, and make a mad dash from the blue dash!

The hedgehog launched down, going to slam his fist into Barry’s helmet. Which worked, however, the Fastest Man Alive merely grabbed hold of Sonic and held him out in front him.

Flash: No can do, Blue. I’ll leave you in the dust, ‘cuz I’m the Fastest Man Alive!

The camera then zoomed out away from them, as Flash began to barrage Sonic with rapid near-lightspeed punches all across his body, going along as they moved. Lightning and electrical shocks began being generated from the sheer speed of the fast assault of blows, and it looked like Flash was going to finish things there, but then Sonic grabbed two of Flash’s punches.

With a smirk, the Blue Blur then placed his feet on the Scarlet Speedster’s chest, before the electricity began being absorbed into Sonic.

Sonic: And I… am the Fastest Thing Alive!

With an electrifying burst, the Blue Devil unleashed a shockwave which electrocuted Barry, causing him to stumble off-course and release his grip on Sonic.

Sonic smirked, landing back on the ocean’s waves and once more darting ahead, now running faster than Barry could. The Scarlet Speedster looked ahead, beginning to vibrate himself at a high frequency and causing the electrical shocks to subside. With a grand burst of speed, the Red Streak barreled forward and went to slam his fist into the back of Sonic’s head.

However, Sonic saw this coming, turning around while running backwards, and leapt into the air so that he was eye-level with the Flash. The Blue Blur sent out a supercharged punch, now amplified drastically by his Chaos Energy, with a giant burst of energy echoing off of their combined attacks. Once more, the two began clashing across the waves, but this time the range of their clashes increased.

At the speed of light, both blitzed around the earth, only single streaks of red and blue light visible from outer space. Through countless cities, through forests and jungles, mountains and valleys, seas and oceans, the two speedster heroes battled it out across the planet. Each time they encountered each other on one side of the planet, they launched attacks at each other, causing large shockwaves to echo over the area.

This all came to a head, when the two met in Central City. Sonic launched at Flash as they were rapidly heading towards each other one last time. Leaping up into the air, he turned into a ball and used his spin dash maneuver, giving Allen no time to react as the Scarlet Speedster was struck square in the chest and launched backward.

Landing into a building Barry Allen fell to his feet, looking up at Sonic once more charging in for a punch. However, he was able to perceive the hedgehog this time, vibrating his body and causing Sonic to once again pass through him. Though Sonic was ready this time, and stopped himself before he could slip up too far, as Barry ran off and the Blue Blur followed him not too far behind.

The two kept clashing until they eventually came to a desert-like area, with Flash going off track from Sonic and ran in front of him, punching the hedgehog back and causing him to land flat on the ground. The Scarlet Speedster, yellow sparks generating across his body, began to run extremely fast in a circle around Sonic, whipping up a massive twister-like storm.

The Blue Blur quickly rose back to his feet, looking around him as the cyclone picked him up into the air. Red streaks of light began to emerge at him from the edges of the storm, smacking him around as he still floated in midair. However, upon being struck for the twentieth or so time, Sonic curled up into a ball and began spinning around rapidly in midair, causing Flash to ricochet off of him as he launched out to hit the spikey speedster once more.

Sonic: Woah… this is getting way past uncool. For me, anyway; I think the ability is pretty cool, honestly. Actually, wait! Lemme try!

Beginning to spin rapidly around in a circle, the tornado began generating blue electricity in the form of Sonic’s Chaos Energy, causing Flash who was now on the ground to be electrocuted.

With a chuckle, Sonic launched down, once again in a ball, as he began to slam Barry into the earth over and over and over again. The Scarlet Speedster then decided enough was enough though, as he opened his eyes and yellow electricity darted across his suit. With a burst of power, he launched up at Sonic and grabbed hold of him. Spinning him around rapidly, the Scarlet Speedster slung the Blue Blur towards the ground before launching back down at him. Grabbing his body, the speedster donned in red began to dart around the planet with Sonic’s body in hand.

Flash: Alright… Enough holding back! You’re fast, you’re supersonic…but you’ve got nothing on me…

Flash began picking up his speed, now approaching the speed of light as Sonic attempted to break free from Flash’s hold, but failed every time he attempted to.

Flash: You’ve got nothing on lightspeed… You may fight for your friends, for your family, but so. DO. I!!!

The two speedsters were then engulfed in a bright blue and yellow light, as Flash broke through the light barrier and surpassed lightspeed. Entering into the Chronobowl…

Barry threw Sonic onto the ground of this new dimension, a large yellow and orange bubble of pure energy surrounding them. Sonic attempted, but failed, to rise to his feet. Barry began vibrating his arms molecules at super speed, walking towards Sonic.

Flash: You can’t even begin to understand what I’ve lost.

As he approached Sonic, ready to finish the fight, images of Nora Allen, Barry’s mother, both of the memories Barry had of her as a child and also her death, flashed around in the background of the Chronobowl, displaying the past through countless timelines and parallel universes.

Flash: Your limit… is here, hedgehog.

(Cue Throw Away Your Mask)

However, that’s when Sonic’s fur spiked up. Flying in from across time and space, the Chaos Emeralds from the original timeline where Sonic and the others had defeated Eggman floated down next to him, spiraling into his body and bleaching his fur golden. Floating upwards, Sonic slowly opened his eyes as his now red eyes stared back at Barry Allen.

Super Sonic had risen.

Super Sonic: I’ve lost… far more, than you know.

As he said this, countless images of the time Sonic spent alongside Longclaw the Owl, someone he considered his own mother, in addition to her death at the hands of the Echidna tribe flashed in the Chronobowl alongside Nora Allen.

Both speedsters stared each other down, the camera viewing them from the side as behind them each mother and their memories shown behind their respective child, almost as if the memories themselves were rooting for their son’s victory.

Super Sonic: And as for my limit? Heh… hahahah… I’ve got your limit. I’ve got it, RIGHT HERE! LIGHTSPEED MEANS NOTHING TO ME!

Super Sonic blitzed forward at incalculable speeds, going to ram straight into the Flash and reduce him to a fine red mist.

Barry Allen raced at Sonic with quickness beyond mortal comprehension, going to drive both vibrated fists into his body.

The two clashed attacks, causing the entire Chronobowl to spark and cause a massive distortion in the space-time continuum, the multiverse beginning to converge and collapse on them.

DCEU Flash VS Paramount Sonic Fight Art

However, as they clashed, Super Sonic realized the jeopardy they were placing the multiverse under. He swiftly grabbed Barry’s face, holding him towards the ‘sky’ and summoning a massive lightning storm.

The Flash let out a howl and yell, before grabbing hold of Sonic’s neck and beginning to vibrate his arms. He plunged them straight through the golden hedgehog’s body, beginning to scramble Sonic’s insides.

While this seemed to work at first, Sonic letting out a yell of pain as well, the willpower of the hedgehog proved to be too much.

The electricity being generated off of Barry from both his own bio-electricity and the lightning storm, began to be absorbed into Super Sonic’s body. It was as if the Speed Force completely left Barry’s body, being absorbed through the lightning into Sonic’s own. As such, Allen was now no longer the Flash or the Red Streak, but he was just… Barry. A normal human, his powers having been stripped away from him. He screamed in agony, his muscles and brain beginning to be fried.

However, what would’ve otherwise been a painful death, Barry, didn’t feel any pain at all. Instead, as he looked down one final time at the golden hedgehog, all he saw was compassion and admiration in the young hero’s eyes. The same kind of compassion, the same kind of admiration, that he once had for people like Batman and Superman.

Time seemed to stop around the two heroes, as the two shared a final conversation.

Super Sonic: You… don't deserve this. Yet, I can’t stop it now, one of us has to die here. If that isn’t the case, then the multiverse is done for. I’m sorry… I was part of the problem, contributing to this clash which threatens this place’s existence. But, I can’t be… I won’t be… the one to die here. I have my own friends to protect, my family. But, at least I can make the pain go away for you.

Barry simply looked down at Sonic, smiling at him and placing a hand on his shoulder.

Barry Allen: It’s… going to be okay. Sometimes, we can’t change things, mistakes we’ve made. Sometimes, it’s best to just let go… At least, you’ll still live. Promise me, one thing through… You won’t ever stop fighting for Earth’s freedom, or for the protection of your friends and your family…

Super Sonic smiled, tears slowly beginning to form in his eyes, as he looked up at Barry and nodded.

Super Sonic: You have my word, Mr. Allen. I’ve always been your biggest fan.

Barry Allen closed his eyes, smiling at his final moments. He allowed all of his power to flow into Sonic without showing any resistance. And then…

Everything flashed to white, as the Chronobowl fades out from view and we find ourselves back in Green Hills.

Super Sonic floats down from the sky, emerging from a hole in reality. As he touches the ground, the Chaos Emeralds leave his body, spiraling off back into the atmosphere and being dislocated across time and space once again.

The Blue Blur looks to the clouds, smiling up at them, as he looks down at his hand, clenching it as both yellow and blue lightning surged across his body.

Sonic: With great power, comes great responsibility as they say…

He then turned back to the town, before smiling and taking a running position…

Sonic: Hang on Tails, Knuckles, Doughnut Lord, and Pretzel Lady. I’ll be back home, soon.

And then, Sonic speeds off into the sunset, now having emerged victorious both in his battle against Eggman and the fight against Flash.

Results[]

Boomstick: Ohhhh, noo! Why was that so sad? Why was the Ezra Miller Flash VS the Ben Schwartz Sonic so emotional!? Well, Speed Force Sonic is pretty cool, I guess...

Wiz: While this may have seemed like a clear-cut Flash victory to some people, and don't get us wrong, there were certain scenarios where he could've taken it, Sonic surprisingly enough had everything he needed to take this fight more times than not.

Boomstick: Yeah, like how he actually knew how to fight at both close and long range, whereas Barry more often than not struggled to physically combat his foes. Of course, he wasn't completely out of his league here, he did get better in his standalone movie, but it's still nowhere near Sonic's level of physical combat. Especially when factoring how Knuckles was trained in every form of lethal combat from a young age, and he considers Sonic a perfect rival.

Wiz: Additionally, Sonic actually showed evidence of being faster than the Flash here. While yes, Sonic's normal speed of upwards of 12% the speed of light going against Barry upscaling from 23% the speed of light was an obvious advantage in Barry's hands, this was not their maximum speed.

Boomstick: Yeah, remember how Sonic's Chaos Energy knocked out all of the Pacific Northwest's power, in addition to reaching his home planet within a short amount of time? Well, turns out, Tails had picked up on said energy, and that's how he got to Earth before the events of Sonic Movie 2.

Wiz: Assuming this took a few hours at most, as Tails literally said that he picked up on the energy on the night of the ballgame when the energy burst happened, Sonic's Chaos Energy would not only have an output of 31.2 gigatons of TNT, but would also be capable of moving over 109 trillion times faster than light.

Boomstick: And Sonic is powered by the damn stuff! Hell, Eggman also calculated just a single one of Sonic's quills possessed a potential infinite amount of energy. If this was possible? I wouldn't be opposed to believing him. And also also, Sonic was capable of racing an Eggman who was powered up by said "infinite energy quill".

Wiz: This is, of course, without even factoring in things like Super Sonic, which already make Sonic much more stronger and faster than his Chaos Energy-enhanced base form.

Boomstick: Flash may have been able to take Superman hitting him with upwards of several thousands of tons of TNT, and that's really fucking impressive, don't get us wrong. But compared to getting hit with several billion tons of TNT? Yeah, you start to really see the difference in their power.

Popup: The Snyderverse's Flash is even stronger than the canon theatrical verse Flash. However, that's considered noncanon, and even still Sonic has better calculations which place his attack power and durability much higher than anything even Snyderverse Flash can handle.

Wiz: While you could say that Flash could bypass Sonic's durability by scrambling his insides or completely negate Sonic's strength advantage by vibrating, that depends on if Flash could react to Sonic. Their speed was also not really close at their peaks. While Flash could run some obscure amount faster than light, Sonic was capable of moving nearly 109 trillion times faster than light. He only gets faster than that in his Super form.

Popup: While you could argue that attack speed doesn't necessarily equal travel/combat/reaction speed, in this context it would. Sonic is powered by his Chaos Energy, and even kept up with an Eggman pod which was enhanced by that same level of power. But, Super Sonic would upscale from it regardless, as he scales beyond both standard Chaos Energy, making him beyond both peak Sonic and enhanced Eggman, in addition to the Eggman Robot which was powered by the Master Emerald.

Boomstick: Oh, but Wiz and Boomstick! Couldn't Flash just use his genius intelligence, go into the Chronobowl, and collapse the universe and win like that? Well, uh, no.

Wiz: Flash is definitely intelligent enough to do something like that, however, he simply can't rely on something like that to win. Context is everything. While he could potentially go into the Chronobowl and mess with time so much that the multiverse grows unstable, not only would that also affect Barry, but it's a whole lot less reasonable than just saying Sonic simply uses his extreme stat advantage to take Barry out before that could happen.

Boomstick: Remember, we here at DEATH BATTLE! look for who wins more times often than not, meaning that if you can score a win in some scenarios, you don't always win in others. Sonic just happens to have more scenarios here where he emerges victorious.

Wiz: And, perhaps most damning of all, Sonic's electricity absorption. Y'know, the thing that powers his Chaos Energy powers in the first place? The thing that literally PASSIVELY generates off of Barry's body as he runs?

Boomstick: Basically, Sonic can get a free snack and recharge in the middle of battle whenever necessary. The craziest part is, you could reasonably argue him being capable of possibly absorbing Barry's connection to the Speed Force itself! Since, y'know, that's how he got his powers in the first place, being struck by lightning. And the movies clearly seem to treat it like Barry can lose his powers if said lightning is taken away, see the Flash movie.

Popup: While this wasn't presented in the actual debate as serious evidence, the fact that Sonic canonically loves to read Flash comic books may give him some level of knowledge on his opponent that Barry wouldn't have of him going into the fight.

Wiz: All-in-all, while there certainly were some scenarios where Barry could've taken Sonic out with his quick wit, general genius level intellect, and durability-negating phasing, Sonic simply had the fighting skill, raw stats, power absorption, and raw speed to net him a win more times than not.

Boomstick: Guess today, Flash Mil-learned never to start fights with rodents. They always seem to have a way of cutting things Schwartz.

Wiz: The winner is Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog.

Trivia[]

  • The connections between Flash and Sonic are that they're both speedsters from movies, which are based off of some other type of material (DC Comics and Sonic the Hedgehog respectively). They both lost mother figures (Nora Allen and Longclaw respectively), who go on to shape their identities going forwards based off of how said loss affected them (Barry dedicated his entire life to forensic science to prove his dad didn't commit the murder before he became the Flash; Sonic went into hiding for a decade before he found a family with Tom and Maddie). However, their path is put on hold as the world needs saving (Barry becoming the Flash and deciding to also fight against crime and supervillainous threats; Sonic deciding to stand up for his family and new friends by confronting Robotnik), and as a result they learn to cherish the family they have (Barry learns to let his mother go and as a result his father is freed in the present/past; Sonic becomes like an adoptive son to Tom and Maddie while befriending both Tails and Knuckles). They both are also known as superheroes in their worlds (the Scarlet Speedster and Blue Justice).
  • The DCEU version of Flash VS movie Sonic was Duragoji123's first What-If? Death Battle.
  • The music track would be called "I Am Speed". The track cover would portray Sonic's arm appearing out of a ring, his hand reaching out towards the center of the image. On the opposing side, Flash's arm would be reaching through a rip in space-time as a nod to how Future Flash went back in time to warn Batman of the evil Superman. Flash would be generating yellow electricity from across his arm, which Sonic would be stealing with his electricity absorption, turning it blue as it reached the other side of the image. In the background there would be a bunch of parallel timestreams, branching off of one another as a reference to the Flash's ability to time-travel.
